Two men brought a dispute before the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. One of them said: Pronounce judgement between us in accordance with Allah’s Book, Messenger of Allah! The other who had more understanding said: Yes, Messenger of Allah! Pronounce judgement between us in accordance with Allah’s Book, and allow me to speak. He (the Prophet) said: Speak, He then said: My son who was a hired servant with this(man) committed fornication with his wife, and when I was told that my son must be stoned to death, I ransomed him with a hundred sheep and a slave girl of mine; but when I asked the learned, they told me that my son should receive a hundred lashes and be banished for a year, and that stoning to death applied only to man’s wife. The apostle of Allah ﷺ replied: By him in whose hand my soul is, I shall certainly pronounce judgment between you in accordance with Allah’s Book. Your sheep and your slave girl must be returned to you, and your son shall receive a hundred lashes and be banished for a year. And he commanded Unias al-Aslami go to that man’s wife, and if she confessed, he should stone her to death. She confessed and he stoned her. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 4445)

[Machine] A man came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, "O Messenger of Allah, my son confessed to committing adultery with his wife. They informed me that the punishment for my son is stoning, so I redeemed him with a slave girl and one hundred sheep. Then the people of knowledge informed me that the punishment for my son is one hundred lashes and one year of exile, and for the woman involved in adultery, I have calculated the punishment as stoning." The Prophet ﷺ said, "I will judge between you two according to the Book of Allah. As for the sheep and the slave girl, they are to be returned to you. As for your son, he will receive one hundred lashes and one year of exile." Then he said to a newly converted man named Unais, "Go, O Unais, and ask the woman involved if she confesses, then stone her."

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed with us in Hudaibiyah on the footsteps of Samaa. When he finished, he said, "Did you not hear what your Lord said tonight?" They said, "We did not receive any special favor from You except that a group of people became disbelievers because of it." He said, "As for those who praised Me for the rain and acknowledged My blessings, they believed in Me and disbelieved in the star. As for those who said, 'We have been rained down by such and such a star,' they believed in the star and disbelieved in My blessing."

[Machine] We traveled with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ to Al-Hudaybiyah. The Prophet ﷺ asked us in the morning, "Do you know what your Lord said?" We replied, "Allah and His Messenger know best." He repeated it twice, then said, "Today, some of my servants have become believers while others have become disbelievers. As for those who say, 'We were rained by such and such a star,' they are the disbelievers in me and believers in the stars. As for those who say, 'This is a mercy from Allah and this is the provision of Allah,' they are the believers in me and disbelievers in the stars."
