[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The believing sisters are Maymunah, the wife of the Prophet ﷺ , and Umm al-Fadl, the wife of Abbas, and Asma bint Umayis, the wife of Ja'far, and the wife of Hamzah, who is their sister from their mother."  

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ الْأَخَوَاتُ الْمُؤْمِنَاتُ مَيْمُونَةُ زَوْجُ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ وَأُمُّ الْفَضْلِ امْرَأَةُ الْعَبَّاسِ وَأَسْمَاءُ بِنْتُ عُمَيْسٍ امْرَأَةُ جَعْفَرٍ وَامْرَأَةُ حَمْزَةَ هِيَ أُخْتُهُنَّ لِأُمِهِنَّ  

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ entered upon her while she had some barley that she was grinding, so the Prophet ﷺ asked, "What are you doing with this?" She replied, "O Messenger of Allah, I am grinding it to feed so-and-so." The Prophet ﷺ said, "Indeed, it is a disease." He then entered upon her with a cupping glass, and asked, "What are you doing with this?" She replied, "So-and-so drinks from it." The Prophet ﷺ said, "If anything could ward off death, it would be cupping."  

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ دَخَلَ عَلَيْهَا وَعِنْدَهَا شُبْرُمٍ تَدُقُّهُ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «مَا تَصْنَعِينَ بِهَذَا؟» فَقَالَتْ يَا نَبِيَّ اللهِ أَسْقِيهِ فُلَانًا فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «إِنَّهُ دَاءٌ» وَدَخَلَ عَلَيْهَا وَمَعَهَا سَنِّيٌّ فَقَالَ مَا تَصْنَعِينَ بِهَذَا؟ فَقَالَتْ يَشْرَبُهُ فُلَانٌ فَقَالَ «لَوْ أَنَّ شَيْئًا يَنْبَغِي أَنْ يَدْفَعَ الْمَوْتَ لَدَفَعَ السَّنِّيُّ»  

كَانَتْ فَاطِمَةُ تُذْكَرُ لِرَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَلَا يَذْكُرُهَا أَحَدٌ إِلَّا صَدَّ عَنْهُ حَتَّى يَئِسُوا مِنْهَا فَلَقِي سَعْدُ بْنُ مُعَاذٍ عَلِيًّا فَقَالَ إِنِّي وَاللهِ مَا أَرَى رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَحْبِسُهَا إِلَّا عَلَيْكَ فَقَالَ لَهُ عَلِيٌّ فَلِمَ تَرَ ذَلِكَ؟ فَوَاللهِ مَا أَنَا بِوَاحِدِ الرَّجُلَيْنِ مَا أَنَا بِصَاحِبِ دُنْيَا يَلْتَمِسُ مَا عِنْدِي وَقَدْ عَلِمَ مَا لِي صَفْرَاءَ وَلَا بَيْضَاءَ وَمَا أَنَا بِالْكَافِرِ الَّذِي يَتَرَقَّقُ بِهَا عَنْ دِينِهِ يَعْنِي يَتَأَلَّفَهُ بِهَا إِنِّي لَأَوَّلُ مَنْ أَسْلَمَ فَقَالَ سَعْدٌ فَإِنِّي أَعْزِمُ عَلَيْكَ لَتَفْرِجَنَّهَا عَنِّي فَإِنَّ لِي فِي ذَلِكَ فَرَجًا فَقَالَ أَقُولُ مَاذَا؟ فَقَالَ تَقُولُ جِئْتُ خَاطِبًا إِلَى اللهِ وَرَسُولِهِ فَاطِمَةَ بِنْتَ مُحَمَّدٍ فَانْطَلَقَ عَلِيٌّ فَعَرَضَ لِلنَّبِيِّ ﷺ وَهُوَ ثَقِيلٌ حَصِرٌ فَقَالَ لَهُ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «كَأَنَّ لَكَ حَاجَةً يَا عَلِيُّ؟» قَالَ أَجَلْ جِئْتُكَ خَاطِبًا إِلَى اللهِ وَرَسُولِهِ فَاطِمَةَ بِنْتَ مُحَمَّدٍ ﷺ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «مَرْحَبًا» كَلِمَةً ضَعِيفَةً فَرَجَعَ عَلِيٌّ إِلَى سَعْدِ بْنِ مُعَاذٍ فَقَالَ قَدْ فَعَلْتُ الَّذِي أَمَرْتَنِي بِهِ فَلَمْ يَزِدْ أَنْ رَحَّبَ بِي بِكَلِمَةٍ ضَعِيفَةٍ فَقَالَ سَعْدٌ أَنْكَحَكَ وَالَّذِي بَعَثَهُ بِالْحَقِّ إِنَّهُ لَا خُلْفَ الْآنَ وَلَا كَذِبَ أَعْزِمُ عَلَيْكَ لَمَّا أَتَيْتُهُ غَدًا فَلَتَقُولَنَّ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ مَتَى تُبْنِينِي؟ فَقَالَ عَلِيٌّ هَذِهِ أَشَدُّ عَلَيَّ مِنَ الْأُولَى أَوَلَا أَقُولُ حَاجَتِي؟ قَالَ قُلْ كَمَا أَمَرْتُكَ فَانْطَلَقَ عَلِيٌّ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ مَتَى تُبْنِينِي؟ قَالَ غَدًا إِنْ شَاءَ اللهُ ثُمَّ دَعَا بِلَالًا فَقَالَ «يَا بِلَالُ قَدْ زَوَّجْتُ ابْنَتِي ابْنَ عَمِّي وَأَنَا أُحِبُّ أَنْ يَكُونَ مِنْ سَنَةِ أُمَّتِي الطَّعَامُ عِنْدَ النِّكَاحِ فَائْتِ الْغَنَمَ فَخُذْ شَاةً وَأَرْبَعَةَ أَمْدَادٍ أَوْ خَمْسَةٍ فَاجْعَلْ لِي قَصِيعَةً لَعَلِّي أَجْمَعُ الْمُهَاجِرِينَ وَالْأَنْصَارَ فَإِذَا فَرَغْتَ مِنْهَا فَائْذِنِّي بِهَا» فَانْطَلَقَ فَفَعَلَ مَا أَمَرَهُ ثُمَّ جَاءَ بِقَصْعَةٍ فَوَضَعَهَا بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ فَطَعَنَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فِي رَأْسِهَا ثُمَّ قَالَ ادْخِلْ عَلِيَّ النَّاسَ زُفَّةً زُفَّةً وَلَا تُغَادِرَنَّ زُفَّةً إِلَى غَيْرِهَا يَعْنِي إِذَا فَرَغْتَ مِنْ زُفَّةٍ لَمْ تَعُدْ ثَانِيَةً فَجَعَلَ النَّاسَ يَرِدُونَ كُلَّمَا فَرَغَتْ زُفَّةً وَرَدَتْ أُخْرَى حَتَّى فَرَغَ النَّاسُ ثُمَّ عَمَدَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ إِلَى فَضْلٍ مِنْهَا فَثَفَلَ فِيهَا وَبَارَكَ وَقَالَ يَا بِلَالُ احْمِلْهَا إِلَى أُمَّهَاتِكَ وَقُلْ لَهُنَّ كُلْنَ وَأَطْعِمْنَ مَنْ غَشِيَكُنَّ ثُمَّ إِنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَامَ حَتَّى دَخَلَ عَلَى النِّسَاءِ فَقَالَ «إِنِّي زَوَّجْتُ ابْنَتِي ابْنَ عَمِّي وَقَدْ عَلِمْتُنَّ مَنْزِلَتَهَا مِنِّي وَأَنَا دَافِعُهَا إِلَيْهِ فَدُونَكُنَّ ابْنَتُكُنَّ» فَقُمْنَ النِّسَاءُ إِلَيْهَا فَغَلَّفْنَهَا مِنْ طِيبِهِنَّ وَأَلْبَسْنَهَا مِنْ ثِيَابِهِنَّ وَحَلَّيْنَهَا مِنْ حُلِيِّهِنَّ ثُمَّ إِنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ دَخَلَ فَلَمَّا رَآهُ النِّسَاءُ وَثَبْنَ وَبَيْنَهُنَّ وَبَيْنَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ سُتْرَةً وَتَخَلَّفَتْ أَسْمَاءُ بِنْتُ عُمَيْسٍ فَقَالَ لَهَا النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «كَمَا أَنْتِ عَلَى رِسْلِكِ مَنْ أَنْتِ؟» قَالَتْ أَنَا الَّتِي أَحْرُسُ ابْنَتَكَ إِنَّ الْفَتَاةَ لَيْلَةَ يُبْنَى بِهَا لَا بُدَّ لَهَا مِنِ امْرَأَةٍ تَكُونُ قَرِيبًا مِنْهَا إِنْ عُرِضَتْ لَهَا حَاجَةٌ أَوْ أَرَادَتْ شَيْئًا أَفَضَتْ بِذَلِكَ إِلَيْهَا قَالَ «فَإِنِّي أَسْأَلُ إِلَهِي أَنْ يَحْرُسَكِ مِنْ بَيْنِ يَدَيْكِ وَمِنْ خَلْفَكِ وَعَنْ يَمِينِكِ وَعَنْ شِمَالِكِ مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ الرَّجِيمِ» ثُمَّ صَرَخَ بِفَاطِمَةَ فَأَقْبَلَتْ فَلَمَّا رَأَتْ عَلِيًّا جَالِسًا إِلَى جَنْبِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ حَصِرَتْ وَبَكَتْ فَأَشْفَقَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ أَنْ يَكُونَ بُكَاؤُهَا لِأَنَّ عَلِيًّا لَا مَالَ لَهُ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «مَا يُبْكِيكِ فَمَا أَلَوْتُكِ فِي نَفْسِي وَقَدْ أَصَبْتُ لَكِ خَيْرَ أَهْلٍ وَايْمُ الَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ لَقَدْ زَوَّجْتُكِ سَعِيدًا فِي الدُّنْيَا وَإِنَّهُ فِي الْآخِرَةِ لَمِنَ الصَّالِحِينَ» فُلَانٌ مِنْهَا فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «يَا أَسْمَاءُ ائْتِينِي بِالْمِخْضَبِ وَامْلَئِيهِ مَاءً» فَأَتَتْهُ أَسْمَاءُ بِالْمِخْضَبِ فَمَلَأَتْهُ مَاءً ثُمَّ تَمَسَّحَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ فِيهِ وَغَسَلَ قَدَمَيْهِ وَوَجْهَهُ ثُمَّ دَعَا فَاطِمَةَ فَأَخَذَ كَفًّا مِنْ مَاءٍ فَضَرَبَ بِهِ عَلَى رَأْسِهَا وَكَفًّا بَيْنَ يَدَيْهَا ثُمَّ رَشَّ جِلْدَهُ وَجِلْدَهَا ثُمَّ الْتَزَمَهُمَا فَقَالَ «اللهُمَّ إِنَّهُمَا مِنِّي وَأَنَا مِنْهُمَا اللهُمَّ كَمَا أَذْهَبْتَ عَنَّا الرِّجْسَ وَطَهَّرْتَنِي فَطَهِّرْهُمَا» ثُمَّ دَعَا بِمِخْضَبٍ آخَرَ ثُمَّ دَعَا عَلِيًّا فَصَنَعَ بِهِ كَمَا صَنَعَ بِهَا ثُمَّ دَعَا لَهُ كَمَا دَعَا لَهَا ثُمَّ قَالَ «قُومَا إِلَى بَيْتِكُمَا جَمَعَ اللهُ بَيْنَكُمَا وَبَارَكَ فِي سَيْرِكُمَا وَأَصْلَحَ بَالَكُمَا» ثُمَّ قَامَ فَأَغْلَقَ عَلَيْهِمَا بَابَهُ بِيَدِهِ قَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ فَأَخْبَرَتْنِي أَسْمَاءُ بِنْتُ عُمَيْسٍ أَنَّهَا رَمَقَتْ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَدْعُو لَهُمَا خَاصَّةً لَا يُشْرِكُهُمَا فِي دُعَائِهِ أَحَدًا حَتَّى تَتَوَارَى فِي حُجَرِهِ  

[Machine] She was born in Dhul-Hulayfah, and the Prophet ordered her to perform ghusl and purify herself.  

«أَنَّهَا وَلَدَتْ بِذِي الْحُلَيْفَةِ فَأَمَرَهَا النَّبِيُّ ﷺ أَنْ تَغْتَسِلَ وَتُهِلَّ»  

[Machine] So, I mentioned that to the Prophet ﷺ and he said, "You are not like that."  

فَذَكَرْتُ ذَلِكَ لِلنَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالَ «لَسْتُمْ كَذَلِكَ»  

[Machine] She became engaged to Muhammad ibn Abi Bakr from the Banu Hulayfa tribe. Abu Bakr asked the Prophet ﷺ for advice, so the Prophet ordered him to command her to perform ghusl (ritual bath) and adorn herself.  

أَنَّهَا نُفِسَتْ بِمُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ بِذِي الْحُلَيْفَةِ فَسَأَلَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ «فَأَمَرَهُ أَنْ يَأْمُرَهَا أَنْ تَغْتَسِلَ وَتُهِلَّ»  

[Machine] Al-Qa'nabi reported that 'Isa ibn Yunus narrated from 'Ubaydullah ibn Abi Ziyad, who narrated from Mujahid, who narrated from Asma bint 'Umais, that she came to the Prophet ﷺ with the two sons of Ja'far. She said, "The people have killed the sons of your brother." He said, "Cover them for them."  

ثنا الْقَعْنَبِيُّ ثنا عِيسَى بْنُ يُونُسَ عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ بْنِ أَبِي زِيَادٍ عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ عَنْ أَسْمَاءَ بِنْتِ عُمَيْسٍ أَنَّهَا أَتَتِ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ بِابْنَيْ جَعْفَرٍ فَقَالَتْ إِنَّ النَّاسَ قَاتَلُوا ابْنَيْ أَخِيكَ قَالَ «فَاسْتَرْقِ لَهُمَا»  

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ looked at the children of Ja'far and said, "What is wrong with their bodies?" She (the mother) said, "Their eyes are drawn to them, so should I bring them to you (for treatment)?" He asked, "With what?" She offered him a word that was harmless, so he said, "Treat them."  

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ نَظَرَ إِلَى بَنِيهَا بَنِي جَعْفَرٍ فَقَالَ «مَا لِأَجْسَامِهِمْ ضَارِعَةً» فَقَالَتْ إِنَّ الْعَيْنَ تُسْرِعُ إِلَيْهِمْ أَفَأَرْقِيهِمْ؟ قَالَ «بِمَاذَا؟» فَعَرَضَتْ عَلَيْهِ كَلَامًا لَيْسَ بِهِ بَأْسٌ فَقَالَ «ارْقِيهِمْ»  

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to be overwhelmed whenever revelation would descend upon him. One day, revelation came to him while he was in the room of Ali. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ asked Ali, "Did you pray Asr, O Ali?" Ali replied, "No, O Messenger of Allah." So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ supplicated to Allah and the sun returned so that he could perform Asr prayer. I saw the sun rise again after it had set, until he performed Asr prayer.  

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا نَزَلَ عَلَيْهِ الْوَحْيُ كَادَ يُغْشَى عَلَيْهِ فَأُنْزِلَ عَلَيْهِ يَوْمًا وَهُوَ فِي حِجْرِ عَلِيٍّ فَقَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «صَلَّيْتَ الْعَصْرَ يَا عَلِيُّ؟» قَالَ لَا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ فَدَعَا اللهَ فَرَدَّ عَلَيْهِ الشَّمْسَ حَتَّى صَلَّى الْعَصْرَ قَالَتْ «فَرَأَيْتُ الشَّمْسَ طَلَعَتْ بَعْدَمَا غَابَتْ حِينَ رُدَّتْ حَتَّى صَلَّى الْعَصْرَ»  

[Machine] Ali approached me and informed the Prophet ﷺ saying, "She had no right to harm Allah and His Messenger."  

خَطَبَنِي عَلِيٌّ فَبَلَغَ ذَلِكَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَقَالَ «مَا كَانَ لَهَا أَنْ تُؤْذِي اللهَ وَرَسُولَهُ»  

[Machine] Umar was saying to Asma bint Umays, "We preceded you in migration." Asma responded, "Yes, by Allah, you have indeed preceded us. We were with the weak and naked, while you were with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , who taught your ignorant ones, guided your knowledgeable ones, and commanded you with noble manners."  

عُمَرُ لأَسْماءَ بِنْتِ عُمَيْسٍ سَبَقْنَاكُمْ بِالْهِجْرَةِ فَقَالَتْ «أَجَلْ وَاللهِ لَقَدْ سَبَقْتُمُونَا وَكُنَّا عِنْدَ الْحُفَاةِ الْعُرَاةِ وَكُنْتُمْ عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ يُعَلِّمُ جَاهِلَكُمْ وَيُفَقِّهُ عَالِمَكُمْ وَيَأْمُرُكُمْ بِمَعَالِي الْأَخْلَاقِ»  

[Machine] I said, "O Messenger of Allah, there are people who claim that we are not among the Muhajirun (migrants)." He said, "Whoever says that is lying to you. You have two migrations: you migrated to the Negus and you migrated to me."  

قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّ قَوْمًا يَزْعُمُونَ أَنَّا لَسْنَا مِنَ الْمُهَاجِرَاتِ فَقَالَ كَذَبَ مَنْ قَالَ ذَاكَ لَكُمْ هِجْرَتَانِ هَاجَرْتُمْ إِلَى النَّجَاشِيِّ وَهَاجَرْتُمْ إِلَيَّ  

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Indeed, among the misfortunes of a person in this world are three: a bad house, a bad woman, and a bad animal." She asked, "O Messenger of Allah, what is a bad house?" He said, "Its narrowness and the evil of its neighbors." It was said, "So what is a bad animal?" He said, "Its hindrance of its back and the badness of its ribs." It was said, "So what is a bad woman?" He said, "Infertility of her womb and bad manners."  

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِنَّ مِنْ شَقَاءِ الْمَرْءِ فِي الدُّنْيَا ثَلَاثَةً سُوءَ الدَّارِ وَسُوءَ الْمَرْأَةِ وَسُوءَ الدَّابَّةِ قَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ مَا سُوءُ الدَّارِ؟ قَالَ «ضِيقُ سَاحَتِهَا وَخُبْثُ جِيرَانِهَا» قِيلَ فَمَا سُوءُ الدَّابَّةِ؟ قَالَ «مَنْعُهَا ظَهْرَهَا وَسُوءُ ضَلْعِهَا» قِيلَ فَمَا سُوءُ الْمَرْأَةِ؟ قَالَ «عُقْمُ رَحِمِهَا وَسُوءُ خُلُقِهَا»  

[Machine] The Prophet of Allah ﷺ asked her, "How do you walk?" She replied, "I used to walk with a shubitum (a type of walking stick)." He said, "It is like a fire, it is like a fire." She replied, "Then I walked with a cane." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "If there was a cure for death, it would be senna."  

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ سَأَلَهَا «بِمَاذَا تَسْتَمْشِينَ؟» فَقَالَتْ كُنْتُ أَسْتَمْشِي بِالشُّبْرُمِ فَقَالَ «حَارٌّ حَارٌّ» فَقَالَتْ ثُمَّ اسْتَمْشَيْتُ بِالسَّنَى فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «لَوْ كَانَ فِي شَيْءٍ شِفَاءٌ مِنَ الْمَوْتِ لَكَانَ السَّنَى»  

[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "Half of what is dug for my Ummah (nation) in the graves is due to the eye illness."  

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «نِصْفُ مَا يُحْفَرُ لِأُمَّتِي مِنَ الْقُبُورِ مِنَ الْعَيْنِ»  

[Machine] Asma bint 'Umays was a friend of Aisha, whom she prepared and presented to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ as a wife along with me. We found nothing to drink except a small quantity of milk. The Prophet ﷺ drank from it and then handed it to the girl. She felt shy, so I said, "Do not reject the hand of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ." The girl drank from it and then he said, "Give it to your companions." We replied, "We do not desire it." He said, "Do not gather falsehood and hunger." I said, "If any of us says that she desires something, is it considered falsehood?" He said, "Verily, falsehood is written as falsehood, even if it is a joke."  

أَسْمَاءُ بِنْتُ عُمَيْسٍ كُنْتُ صَاحِبَةَ عَائِشَةَ الَّتِي هَيَّأَتْهَا وَأَدْخَلَتْهَا عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فِي نِسْوَةٍ مَعِي فَمَا وَجَدْنَا إِلَّا قَدَحًا مِنْ لَبَنٍ فَشَرِبَ مِنْهُ ثُمَّ نَاوَلَهُ الْجَارِيَةَ فَاسْتَحْيَتْ فَقُلْتُ لَا تَرُدِّي يَدَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَشَرِبَتِ الْجَارِيَةُ ثُمَّ قَالَ «ناوِلِيهِ صَوَاحِبَكِ» فَقُلْنَ لَا نَشْتَهِيهِ فَقَالَ «لَا تَجْمَعْنَ كَذِبًا وَجُوعًا» قُلْتُ إِنْ قَالَتْ إِحْدَانَا لِشَيْءٍ نَشْتَهِيهِ لَا نَشْتَهِيهِ أَيُعَدُّ ذَلِكَ كَذِبًا؟ فَقَالَ «إِنَّ الْكَذِبَ يُكْتَبُ كَذِبًا حَتَّى إِنَّ الْكَذْبَةَ تُكْتَبُ كَذْبَةً»  

"What an evil servant is the one who fancies himself and becomes vain forgetting the Most Great, the Most High. What an evil servant is the one who forces and behaves hostility, forgetting the Compeller, the Most High. What an evil servant is the one who is heedless and diverted, forgetting about the graves and the trials. What an evil servant is the one who is violent and tyrannical, forgetting his beginnings or his end. What an evil servant is the one who seeks the world through the religion. What an evil servant is the one who seeks the religion through his desires. What an evil servant is the one who puts all hope in his own zeal. What an evil servant is the worshipper who is misled by his desire. What an evil servant is the one whose aspirations humiliate him." (Using translation from Tirmidhī 2448)  

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «بِئْسَ الْعَبْدُ عَبْدٌ تَجَبَّرَ وَاعْتَدَى وَنَسِيَ الْجَبَّارَ الْأَعْلَى بِئْسَ الْعَبْدُ عَبْدٌ بَخِلَ وَاخْتَالَ وَنَسِيَ الْكَبِيرَ الْمُتَعَالَ بِئْسَ الْعَبْدُ عَبْدٌ لَهَا وَسَهَا وَنَسِيَ الْمَبْدَأَ وَالْمُنْتَهَى بِئْسَ الْعَبْدُ عَبْدٌ بَغَى وعَتَا وَنَسِيَ الْمَقَابِرَ وَالْبِلَا بِئْسَ الْعَبْدُ عَبْدٌ يَخْتِلُ الدُّنْيَا بِالدَّيْنِ بِئْسَ الْعَبْدُ عَبْدٌ يَخْتِلُ الدِّينَ بِالشُّبُهَاتِ بِئْسَ الْعَبْدُ عَبْدٌ يُذِلُّهُ الرُّعْبُ وَيُزِيلُهُ عَنِ الْحَقِّ بِئْسَ الْعَبْدُ عَبْدٌ طَمَعٌ يَقُودُهُ بِئْسَ الْعَبْدُ عَبْدٌ لَهُ هَوًى يُضِلُّهُ»  

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ entered upon her for some of his needs, then he left. So, she complained to him about her need. He said, "How would it be for you if you were tested with a slave who has been granted control over the rivers of the earth and its fruits, and whoever follows him, he feeds him and clothes him, and whoever disobeys him, he withholds from him." I said, "O Messenger of Allah, the slave girl is confined to the oven for an hour to bake bread, and I am almost tempted during my prayer, so what about us in that case?" He said, "Allah will protect the believers on that day with what He protects the angels from glorification. Indeed, there will be between his eyes a mark that each believer, whether literate or illiterate, will read."  

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ دَخَلَ عَلَيْهَا لِبَعْضِ حَاجَتِهِ ثُمَّ خَرَجَ فَشَكَتْ إِلَيْهِ الْحَاجَةَ فَقَالَ «كَيْفَ بِكُمْ إِذَا ابْتُلِيتُمْ بِعَبْدٍ قَدْ سُخِّرَتْ لَهُ أَنْهَارُ الْأَرْضِ وَثِمارُهَا فَمَنِ اتَّبَعَهُ أَطْعَمَهُ وَأَكْفَرَهُ وَمَنْ عَصَاهُ حَرَمَهُ وَمَنَعَهُ» قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّ الْجَارِيَةَ لَتُحْبَسُ عَلَى التَّنُّورِ سَاعَةً تَخْبِزُهَا فَأَكَادُ أفْتَتِنُ فِي صَلَاتِي فَكَيْفَ بِنَا إِذَا كَانَ ذَلِكَ؟ فَقَالَ «إِنَّ اللهَ يَعْصِمُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ يَوْمَئِذٍ بِمَا يَعْصِمُ بِهِ الْمَلَائِكَةَ مِنَ التَّسْبِيحِ إِنَّ بَيْنَ عَيْنَيْهِ كافر يَقْرَؤُهُ كُلُّ مُؤْمِنٍ كَاتَبٍ وَغَيْرِ كَاتَبٍ»  

[Machine] I went with my brother to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , wearing two gold bracelets. He asked me, "Would you like Allah to replace them with two bracelets of fire?" So I quickly removed them and threw them away, but I don't know who picked them up.  

انْطَلَقْتُ مَعَ أَخِي إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ وَعَلِيَّ سِوَارَانِ مِنْ ذَهَبٍ فَقَالَ «أَيَسُرُّكِ أَنْ يُسَوِّرَكِ اللهُ بِسُوَارَيْنِ مِنْ نَارٍ؟» فَانْتَزَعْتُهُمَا فَرَمَيْتُهُما فَلَا أَدْرِي أَيَّ النَّاسِ أَخَذَهُمَا  

[Machine] Narrated Urwa bin Az-Zubair: "Ja'far bin Abi Talib migrated to the land of Abyssinia (Ethiopia) along with his wife, Asma bint Umays Al-Khath'amiyah. They gave birth to Abdullah bin Ja'far, Aun bin Ja'far, and Muhammad bin Ja'far in the land of Abyssinia."  

عَنْ عُرْوَةَ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ فِي تَسْمِيَةِ مَنْ هَاجَرَ إِلَى أَرْضِ الْحَبَشَةِ جَعْفَرُ بْنُ أَبِي طَالِبٍ وَمَعَهُ امْرَأَتُهُ أَسْمَاءُ بِنْتُ عُمَيْسٍ الْخَثْعَمِيَّةُ فَوَلَدَتْ لَهُ بِأَرْضِ الْحَبَشَةِ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ جَعْفَرٍ وَعَوْنَ بْنَ جَعْفَرٍ وَمُحَمَّدَ بْنَ جَعْفَرٍ  

[Machine] "We entered upon Abu Bakr in his illness and saw a white woman with discolored hands serving him, and she was Asma bint Umayyad."  

«دَخَلْنَا عَلَى أَبِي بَكْرٍ ؓ فِي مَرَضِهِ فَرَأَيْنَا امْرَأَةً بَيْضَاءَ مَوْشُومَةَ الْيَدَيْنِ تَذُبُّ عَنْهُ وَهِيَ أَسْمَاءُ بِنْتُ عُمَيْسٍ»  

“The Messenger of Allah ﷺ taught me some words to say at times of distress: Allah! Allahu Rabbi la ushriku bihi shay’an (Allah, Allah is my Lord, I do not associate anything with Him).” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 3882)  

عَلَّمَنِي رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ كَلِمَاتٍ أَقُولُهُنَّ عِنْدَ الْكَرْبِ «لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ رَبِّي لَا أُشْرِكُ بِهِ شَيْئًا»  

[Machine] I was at the wedding of Fatimah, the daughter of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ . When morning came, the Prophet ﷺ knocked on the door and Umm Ayman got up and opened the door for him. He said, "O Umm Ayman, pray for me." She replied, "Your brother is getting married to your daughter, right?" He said, "O Umm Ayman, pray for me." The women heard the voice of the Prophet ﷺ and they covered themselves and sat in a corner. Then Ali came and the Prophet ﷺ prayed for him and poured water on him. Then he said, "Pray for Fatimah." So she came, blushing and shy. He said to her, "Be silent, for I have married you to the most beloved of my household to me." He prayed for her and poured water on her, then he left and saw a black person and asked, "Who is this?" Asma' replied, "The daughter of Umayr." He asked, "Were you at the wedding of the daughter of the Messenger of Allah, honoring her?" I said, "Yes." He prayed for me.  

كُنْتُ فِي زِفَافِ فَاطِمَةَ بِنْتِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَلَمَّا أَصْبَحْتُ جَاءَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ فَضَرَبَ الْبَابَ فَقَامَتْ إِلَيْهِ أُمُّ أَيْمَنَ فَفَتَحَتْ لَهُ الْبَابَ فَقَالَ «يَا أُمَّ أَيْمَنَ ادْعِي لِي أَخِي» فَقَالَتْ أَخُوكَ هُوَ أَيَّ كَلِمَةٍ يَمَانِيَةٍ وَتَنْكِحُهُ ابْنَتَكَ قَالَ «يَا أُمَّ أَيْمَنَ ادْعِي لِي» فَسَمِعَ النِّسَاءُ صَوْتَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَتَحَشْحَشْنَ فَجَلَسْنَ فِي نَاحِيَةٍ ثُمَّ جَاءَ عَلِيٌّ فَدَعَا لَهُ وَنَضَحَ عَلَيْهِ مِنَ الْمَاءِ ثُمَّ قَالَ «ادْعُو لِي فَاطِمَةَ» فَجَاءَتْ وَهِيَ عَرِقَةٌ أَوْ حَرِقَةٌ مِنَ الْحَيَاءِ فَقَالَ لَهَا «اسْكُتِي فَقَدْ أَنْكَحْتُكِ أَحَبَّ أَهْلِ بَيْتِي إِلَيَّ» وَدَعَا لَهَا وَدَعَا بِمَاءٍ فَنَضَحَهُ عَلَيْهَا ثُمَّ خَرَجَ فَرَأَى سَوَادًا فَقَالَ «مَنْ هَذَا؟» قَالَتْ أَسْمَاءُ قَالَ «ابْنَةُ عُمَيْسٍ؟» قُلْتُ نَعَمْ قَالَ «أَكُنْتِ فِي زِفَافِ بِنْتِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ تُكْرِمِينَهُ؟» قُلْتُ نَعَمْ فَدَعَا لِي  

[Machine] 'Ukrimah and Abu Yazid al-Madinah, or one of them, doubted that Abd al-Razzaq said that Asma bint 'Umais said, "When Fatimah was given to 'Ali ibn Abi Talib as a gift, we found nothing in his house except spread-out sand, a stuffed pillow, a jug, and a small cup." So the Prophet ﷺ sent a message to 'Ali saying, "Do not do anything until I come to you." Then the Prophet ﷺ came and said, "Has my brother done something wrong?" Umm Ayman, who was Umm Usamah ibn Zaid and was Abyssinian, said, "O Messenger of Allah, this is your brother and I married him to your daughter." The Prophet ﷺ had a strong bond with his companions and had a strong bond with 'Ali himself. He said, "That is how it should be, O Umm Ayman." Then the Prophet ﷺ called for a container of water and said whatever Allah wanted him to say, then he wiped Ali's chest and face with it. He then called for Fatimah, and she came stumbling in her dress out of shyness. He sprinkled some of the water on her and said whatever Allah wanted him to say. Then he said to her, "I married you to him because he is the most beloved to me among my family." Then he saw a black figure behind the curtain or door, and he said, "Who is this?" Asma said, "It's Asma bint 'Umais." He said, "Yes, O Messenger of Allah." He said, "Did you come with his daughter as an honor to the Messenger of Allah?" She said, "Yes, the girl needs someone close to her. If she has a need, she can turn to her." He said, "Then pray for me, for it is the most trustworthy of my deeds to me." Then he said to 'Ali, "Your family is under your care." Then he left and went back to his room, and he kept praying for them until he disappeared from sight."  

عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ وَأَبِي يَزِيدَ الْمَدِينِيِّ أَوْ أَحَدُهُمَا شَكَّ عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ أَنَّ أَسْمَاءَ بِنْتَ عُمَيْسٍ قَالَتْ لَمَّا أُهْدِيَتْ فَاطِمَةُ إِلَى عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ لَمْ نَجِدْ فِي بَيْتِهِ إِلَّا رَمَلًا مَبْسُوطًا وَوِسَادَةً حَشَوْهَا وَجَرَّةً وَكُوزًا فَأَرْسَلَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ إِلَى عَلِيٍّ لَا تُحْدِثَنَّ حَدِيثًا أَوْ قَالَ «لَا تَقْرَبَنَّ أَهْلَكَ حَتَّى آتِيَكَ» فَجَاءَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ فَقَالَ «أَثَمَّ أَخِي؟» فَقَالَتْ أُمُّ أَيْمَنَ وَهِيَ أُمُّ أُسَامَةَ بْنِ زَيْدٍ وَكَانَتْ حَبَشِيَّةً وَكَانَتِ امْرَأَةً صَالِحَةً يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ هَذَا أَخُوكَ وَزَوَّجْتُهُ ابْنَتُكَ وَكَانَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ آخَى بَيْنَ أَصْحَابِهِ وَآخَى بَيْنَ عَلِيٍّ وَنَفْسِهِ قَالَ «إِنَّ ذَلِكَ يَكُونُ يَا أُمَّ أَيْمَنَ» قَالَتْ فَدَعَا النَّبِيُّ ﷺ بِإِنَاءٍ فِيهِ مَاءٌ فَقَالَ فِيهِ مَا شَاءَ اللهُ أَنْ يَقُولَ ثُمَّ مَسَحَ بِهِ صَدْرَ عَلِيٍّ وَوَجْهَهُ ثُمَّ دَعَا فَاطِمَةَ فَقَامَتْ إِلَيْهِ تَعْثُرُ فِي مِرْطِهَا مِنَ الْحَيَاءِ فَنَضَحَ عَلَيْهَا مِنْ ذَلِكَ وَقَالَ لَهَا مَا شَاءَ اللهُ أَنْ يَقُولَ ثُمَّ قَالَ لَهَا «إِنِّي لَمْ آلُكِ أَنْ أَنْكَحْتُكِ أَحَبَّ أَهْلِي إِلَيَّ» ثُمَّ رَأَى سَوَادًا مِنْ وَرَاءِ السِّتْرِ أَوْ مِنْ وَرَاءِ الْبَابِ فَقَالَ «مَنْ هَذَا؟» قَالَتْ أَسْمَاءُ قَالَ «أَسْمَاءُ بِنْتُ عُمَيْسٍ؟» قَالَتْ نَعَمْ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ قَالَ «جِئْتِ كَرَامَةً لِرَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ مَعَ ابْنَتِهِ؟» قَالَتْ نَعَمْ إِنَّ الْفَتَاةَ لَيْلَةَ يُبْنَى بِهَا لَا بُدَّ لَهَا مِنِ امْرَأَةٍ تَكُونُ قَرِيبًا مِنْهَا إِنْ عَرَضَتْ لَهَا حَاجَةٌ أَفَضَتْ بِذَلِكَ إِلَيْهَا قَالَتْ فَدَعَا لِي بِدُعَاءٍ فَإِنَّهُ لأَوْثَقُ عَمَلِي عِنْدِي ثُمَّ قَالَ لِعَلِيٍّ «دُونَكَ أَهْلِكَ» ثُمَّ خَرَجَ فَوَلَّى قَالَتْ فَمَا زَالَ يَدْعُو لَهُمَا حَتَّى تَوَارَى فِي حِجْرِهِ  

[Machine] Al-Qa'nabi narrated from Malik, from Abdur-Rahman Ibn Al-Qasim, from his father, from Asmaa bint Umays that she gave birth to Muhammad Ibn Abi Bakr in the desert. Abu Bakr mentioned this to the messenger of Allah ﷺ, so he said, "Tell her to perform ghusl and then enter the state of ihram."  

ثنا الْقَعْنَبِيُّ عَنْ مَالِكٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ الْقَاسِمِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ أَسْمَاءَ بِنْتِ عُمَيْسٍ أَنَّهَا وَلَدَتْ مُحَمَّدَ بْنَ أَبِي بَكْرٍ بِالْبَيْدَاءِ فَذَكَرَ ذَلِكَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ لِرَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ «مُرْهَا فَلْتَغْتَسِلْ ثُمَّ تُهِلُّ»  

[Machine] "That the Prophet ﷺ said to her, 'O daughter of Umayys, there is no washing for you, nor Friday prayer, nor shaving, nor shortening (of hair) except that one of you takes for herself or from among her (hair) ends a front lock on the day of sacrifice when she performs Hajj.'"  

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ لَهَا «يَا ابْنَةَ عُمَيْسٍ لَا غُسْلَ عَلَيْكُنَّ وَلَا جُمُعَةً وَلَا حِلَاقَ وَلَا تَقْصِيرَ إِلَّا أَنْ تَأْخُذَ إِحْدَاكُنَّ لِنَفْسِهَا أَوْ مَنْ كَانَ مِنْهَا بِمَحْرَمٍ مِنْ أَطْرَافِ شَعْرِهَا مُقَدَّمَ رَأْسِهَا يَوْمَ النَّحْرِ إِذَا حَجَّتْ»  

[Machine] When Ja'far got injured, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ordered me, "Take a rest for three days, then do whatever you want."  

لَمَّا أُصِيبَ جَعْفَرٌ أَمَرَنِي رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ «تَسْكُنِي ثَلَاثًا ثُمَّ اصْنَعِي مَا شِئْتِ»  

[Machine] I said, "O Messenger of Allah, Fatimah bint Abi Hubaysh has been experiencing istihadah for such and such a period of time and has not been able to pray." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Glory be to Allah, this is from Satan in order to keep her secluded. When she sees yellowish discharge on the water, let her perform one ghusl (ritual bath) for both Zhuhr (noon) and Asr (afternoon) prayers, and one ghusl for both Maghrib (sunset) and Isha (night) prayers, and in between she should perform ablution (wudu)."  

قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّ فَاطِمَةَ بِنْتَ أَبِي حُبَيْشٍ اسْتُحِيضَتْ مُنْذُ كَذَا وَكَذَا فَلَمْ تُصَلِّ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «سُبْحَانَ اللهِ هَذَا مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ لِتَجْلِسَ فِي مِرْكَنٍ فَإِذَا رَأَتْ صَفَارَةً فَوْقَ الْمَاءِ فَلْتَغْتَسِلْ لِلظُّهْرِ وَالْعَصْرِ غُسْلًا وَاحِدًا وَتَغْتَسِلْ لِلْمَغْرِبِ وَالْعِشَاءِ غُسْلًا ثُمَّ تَوَضَّأْ فِيمَا بَيْنَ ذَلِكَ»  

[Machine] The first thing that the Messenger of Allah complained about was in the house of Maymuna, and his illness intensified until he fainted. She consulted her co-wives about his condition, and they bled him. When he regained consciousness, he said, "What is this? Did women come from this place?" He pointed with his hand towards Habasha (Ethiopia), and Asma bint Umayy was among them. They said, "We suspected you of having conjugal relations, O Messenger of Allah!" He said, "Indeed, this is a disease that Allah would not inflict upon me. There is no one left in the house except for the maid of the Messenger of Allah, 'Abbas." He said, "Indeed, Maymuna bled that day, and she was fasting out of respect for the Messenger of Allah."  

أَوَّلُ مَا اشْتَكَى رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فِي بَيْتِ مَيْمُونَةَ فَاشْتَدَّ مَرَضُهُ حَتَّى أُغْمِيَ عَلَيْهِ قَالَتْ فَتَشَاوَرَ نِسَاؤُهُ فِي لَدِّهِ فَلَدُّوهُ فَلَمَّا أَفَاقَ قَالَ «مَا هَذَا أَفَعَلَ نِسَاءٌ جِئْنَ مِنْ هَهُنَا» وَأَشَارَ بِيَدِهِ إِلَى أَرْضِ الْحَبَشَةِ وَكَانَتْ أَسْمَاءُ بِنْتُ عُمَيْسٍ فِيهِنَّ فَقَالُوا كُنَّا نَتَّهِمُ بِكَ ذَاتَ الْجَنْبِ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ قَالَ «إِنَّ ذَلِكَ لَدَاءٌ مَا كَانَ اللهُ لِيَقْذِفُنِي بِهِ لَا يَبْقَيْنَ فِي الْبَيْتِ أَحَدٌ إِلَّا الْتَدَّ إِلَّا عَمُّ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ» يَعْنِي عَبَّاسًا قَالَ فَلَقَدْ لَدَّتْ مَيْمُونَةُ يَوْمَئِذٍ وَإِنَّهَا صَائِمَةٌ لَعَزِيمَةِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ  

[Machine] That the dogs of Banu Tamim followed Tuleid, one of the sons of Layth, while he was sitting with Sa'id ibn al-Musayyib. Then the messenger of Nafi' ibn Jubayr ibn Muta'im came to him and said, "Your aunt sends her greetings to you and asks how is the story that you told me about Asma bint Umayis?" So Sa'id said, "Inform him that Asma informed me that she heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, 'No one can endure the difficulties and severity of Madinah without me being a witness or an intercessor for him on the Day of Judgment.'"  

أَنَّ كِلَابَ بْنَ تَمِيمٍ تَلِيدَ أَحَدِ بَنِي لَيْثٍ بَيْنَمَا هُوَ جَالِسٌ مَعَ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيِّبِ إِذْ جَاءَهُ رَسُولُ نَافِعِ بْنِ جُبَيْرِ بْنِ مُطْعَمٍ يَقُولُ إِنَّ خَالَتَكَ تَقْرَأُ عَلَيْكَ السَّلَامَ وَتَقُولُ كَيْفَ الْحَدِيثُ الَّذِي حَدَّثْتَنِي بِهِ عَنْ أَسْمَاءَ بِنْتِ عُمَيْسٍ؟ فَقَالَ سَعِيدٌ أَخْبِرْهُ أَنَّ أَسْمَاءَ أَخْبَرَتْنِي أَنَّهَا سَمِعَتْ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «لَا يَصْبِرُ عَلَى لَأْوَاءِ الْمَدِينَةِ وَشِدَّتِهَا أَحَدٌ إِلَّا كُنْتُ لَهُ شَهِيدًا أَوْ شَفِيعًا يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ»  

[Machine] I said, O Messenger of Allah, the evil eye tends to fall upon the children of Ja'far, should I seek protection for them? He replied, "Yes, seek protection for them, for if I were to say that anything could precede destiny, I would say that the evil eye precedes it."  

قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّ الْعَيْنَ تُسْرِعُ إِلَى بَنِي جَعْفَرٍ أَفَأَسْتَرْقِي لَهُمْ؟ قَالَ «نَعَمْ فَاسْتَرْقِي لَهُمْ فَلَوْ قُلْتُ إِنَّ شَيْئًا يَسْبِقُ الْقَدَرَ لَقُلْتُ إِنَّ الْعَيْنَ سَبَقَتْهُ»  

[Machine] She said: "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ entered upon Aisha bint Abu Bakr one day, and her sister Asma was with her, wearing loose and wide garments. When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ looked at her, he stood up and left. Aisha said to her: "Move away, for the Messenger of Allah ﷺ has seen something from you that he dislikes." So she opened up and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ entered. Aisha asked him: "Why did you stand up?" He replied: "Have you not seen her appearance? It is not appropriate for a Muslim woman to show more than this." Then he took his garment and covered his hands' backs with it, so that nothing could be seen from his hands except his fingers. Then he placed his hands on his cheeks, so that nothing could be seen except his face."  

أَنَّهَا قَالَتْ دَخَلَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَوْمًا عَلَى عَائِشَةَ بِنْتِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ وَعِنْدَهَا أُخْتُهَا أَسْمَاءُ وَعَلَيْهَا ثِيَابٌ سَابِغَةٌ وَاسِعَةُ الْأَكِمَّةِ فَلَمَّا نَظَرَ إِلَيْهَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ قَامَ فَخَرَجَ فَقَالَتْ لَهَا عَائِشَةُ تَنَحَّيْ فَقَدْ رَأَى مِنْكِ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَمْرًا كَرِهَهُ فَفَتَحَتْ فَدَخَلَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَسَأَلَتْهُ عَائِشَةُ لِمَ قَامَ؟ فَقَالَ «أَوَ لَمْ تَرَيْ إِلَى هَيَّأَتِهَا إِنْهُ لَيْسَ لِلْمَرْأَةِ الْمُسْلِمَةِ أَنْ يَبْدُو مِنْهَا إِلَّا هَكَذَا» وَأَخَذَ كُمَّيْهِ فَغَطَّى بِهِمَا ظُهُورَ كَفَّيْهِ حَتَّى لَمْ يَبْدُ مِنْ كَفَّيْهِ إِلَّا أَصَابِعُهُ ثُمَّ نَصَبَ كَفَّيْهِ عَلَى صُدْغَيْهِ حَتَّى لَمْ يَبْدُ إِلَّا وَجْهُهُ  

[Machine] She said to the Prophet Muhammad, ﷺ , "Indeed, the family lineage of Ja'far is affected by the evil eye, so should we seek a cure for them?" He replied, "Yes, if anything were to hasten destiny, it would be the evil eye that comes before it."  

أَنَّهَا قَالَتْ لِلنَّبِيِّ ﷺ إِنَّ بَنِي جَعْفَرٍ يُصِيبُهُمُ الْعَيْنُ أَفَأَسْتَرْقِي لَهُمْ؟ فَقَالَ «نَعَمْ لَوْ كَانَ شَيْءٌ سَابِقَ الْقَدَرِ لَسَبَقَتْهُ الْعَيْنُ»  

[Machine] When Ja'far and his companions were killed, Ali entered upon the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and I had prepared their dough, washed their bodies, anointed them, and cleaned them. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Bring me the children of Ja'far." I brought them to him and he smelled them and tears came from his eyes. I said, "O Messenger of Allah, may my parents be sacrificed for you, what makes you cry? Did something happen to Ja'far and his companions?" He said, "Yes, they were martyred today." I got up and shouted, and the women gathered, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ went out to his family and said, "Do not let the family of Ja'far be neglected to the point that you do not prepare food for them, for they are preoccupied with the matter of their companion."  

لَمَّا أُصِيبَ جَعْفَرٌ وَأَصْحَابُهُ دَخَلَ عَلِيَّ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَقَدْ عَجَنْتُ عَجِينَهُمْ وَغَسَلَتُ بَنِيَّ وَدَهَنْتُهُمْ وَنَظَّفْتُهُمْ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «ائْتِينِي بِبَنِي جَعْفَرٍ» قَالَتْ فَأَتَيْتُهُ بِهِمْ فَشَمَّهُمْ وَذَرَفَتْ عَيْنَاهُ فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ بِأَبِي وَأُمِّي مَا يُبْكِيكَ؟ أَبَلَغَكَ شَيْءٌ عَنْ جَعْفَرٍ وَأَصْحَابِهِ؟ قَالَ «نَعَمْ أُصِيبُوا هَذَا الْيَوْمَ» قَالَتْ فَقُمْتُ أَصِيحُ وَاجْتَمَعَ إِلَى النِّسَاءِ وَخَرَجَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِلَى أَهْلِهِ فَقَالَ «لَا تُغْفِلُوا آلَ جَعْفَرٍ مِنْ أَنْ تَصْنَعُوا لَهُمْ طَعَامًا فَإِنَّهُمْ قَدْ شُغِلُوا بِأَمْرِ صَاحِبِهِمْ»  

[Machine] That the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , prayed the Dhuhr prayer in the ishba (a type of stone), then he sent Ali for a need, and he returned and the Prophet, ﷺ , had prayed the Asr prayer. The Prophet, ﷺ , laid his head on the stone of Ali and slept, and he did not move him until the sun set. The Prophet, ﷺ , said, "O Allah, indeed your servant Ali has imprisoned himself for his Prophet, so return the sun to him." The sun rose upon him until it rose upon the mountains and the earth, and Ali stood up, performed ablution, and prayed the Asr prayer, then the sun set, and that was in the ishba.  

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ صَلَّى الظُّهْرَ بِالصَّهْبَاءِ ثُمَّ أَرْسَلَ عَلِيًّا فِي حَاجَةٍ فَرَجَعَ وَقَدْ صَلَّى النَّبِيُّ ﷺ الْعَصْرَ فَوَضَعَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ رَأْسَهُ فِي حِجْرِ عَلِيٍّ فَنَامَ فَلَمْ يُحَرِّكُهُ حَتَّى غَابَتِ الشَّمْسُ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «اللهُمَّ إِنَّ عَبْدَكَ عَلِيًّا احْتَبَسَ بِنَفْسِهِ عَلَى نَبِيِّهِ فَرُدَّ عَلَيْهِ الشَّمْسَ» قَالَتْ فَطَلَعَتْ عَلَيْهِ الشَّمْسُ حَتَّى رُفِعَتْ عَلَى الْجِبَالِ وَعَلَى الْأَرْضِ وَقَامَ عَلِيٌّ فَتَوَضَّأَ وَصَلَّى الْعَصْرَ ثُمَّ غَابَتْ وَذَلِكَ بِالصَّهْبَاءِ  

[Machine] "Your grandmother Fatimah was given to your grandfather Ali, and the stuffing of her mattress and pillows was nothing but palm fiber. Ali treated Fatimah poorly, and her hospitality at that time was not better than his hospitality when he pawned his armor for half a saa of barley with a Jew."  

«أُهْدِيَتْ جَدَّتُكَ فَاطِمَةُ إِلَى جَدُّكَ عَلِيٍّ ؓ فَمَا كَانَ حَشْوَ فِرَاشِهَا ووِسادَتِهَا إِلَّا لِيفٌ وَلَقَدْ أَوْلَمَ عَلِيٌّ بِفَاطِمَةَ فَمَا كَانَتْ وَلِيمَتُهُ فِي ذَلِكَ الزَّمَانِ أَفْضَلَ مِنْ وَلِيمَتِهِ رَهَنَ دِرْعَهُ عِنْدَ يَهُودِيٍّ بِشَطْرِ شَعِيرٍ»  

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to Ali, "You are to me in the position of Harun (Aaron) to Musa (Moses), except that there will be no prophet after me."  

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لِعَلِيٍّ «أَنْتَ مِنِّي بِمَنْزِلَةِ هَارُونَ مِنْ مُوسَى وَلَكِنْ لَا نَبِيَّ بَعْدِي»  

[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say to Ali, "You are to me like Aaron was to Moses."  

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ لِعَلِيٍّ «أَنْتَ مِنِّي بِمَنْزِلَةِ هَارُونَ مِنْ مُوسَى»  

[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying to Ali, "You are to me what Harun was to Musa, except that there will be no Prophet after me."  

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ لِعَلِيٍّ «أَنْتَ مِنِّي بِمَنْزِلَةِ هَارُونَ مِنْ مُوسَى غَيْرَ أَنَّهُ لَا نَبِيَّ بَعْدِي»  

[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say to Ali, "You are to me like Harun (Aaron) was to Musa (Moses), except that there will be no prophet after me."  

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ لِعَلِيٍّ «أَنْتَ مِنِّي بِمَنْزِلَةِ هَارُونَ مِنْ مُوسَى إِلَّا أَنَّهُ لَا نَبِيَّ بَعْدِي»  

that the Prophet ﷺ said to 'Ali: "You are to me in the position that Harun was to Musa, except that there is no Prophet after me." (Using translation from Tirmidhī 3730)  

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ لِعَلِيٍّ «أَنْتَ مِنِّي بِمَنْزِلَةِ هَارُونَ مِنْ مُوسَى إِلَّا أَنَّهُ لَا نَبِيَّ بَعْدِي»  

[Machine] I heard Fatimah bint Al-Hussein saying that Asma bint Umayis narrated to her that she heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "O Ali, you are to me as Harun was to Musa, except that there will be no prophet after me."  

سَمِعْتُ فَاطِمَةَ بِنْتَ الْحُسَيْنِ تَقُولُ حَدَّثَتْنِي أَسْمَاءُ بِنْتُ عُمَيْسٍ أَنَّهَا سَمِعَتْ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «يَا عَلِيُّ أَنْتَ مِنِّي بِمَنْزِلَةِ هَارُونَ مِنْ مُوسَى إِلَّا أَنَّهُ لَا نَبِيَّ بَعْدِي»  

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to receive revelation with his head in the lap of Ali, and he did not pray Asr until the sun had set. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "O Allah, Ali was in your obedience and the obedience of Your Messenger, so return the sun to him." Asma said, "I saw it setting and then rising again after it had set." And this report is according to the narration of Uthman.  

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يُوحَى إِلَيْهِ وَرَأْسُهُ فِي حِجْرِ عَلِيٍّ فَلَمْ يُصَلِّ الْعَصْرَ حَتَّى غَرَبَتِ الشَّمْسُ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «اللهُمَّ إِنَّ عَلِيًّا كَانَ فِي طَاعَتِكَ وَطَاعَةِ رَسُولِكَ فَارْدُدْ عَلَيْهِ الشَّمْسَ» قَالَتْ أَسْمَاءُ «فَرَأَيْتُهَا غَرَبَتْ وَرَأَيْتُهَا طَلَعَتْ بَعْدَمَا غَرَبَتْ» وَاللَّفْظُ لِحَدِيثِ عُثْمَانَ  

[Machine] Abu Al-A'yuf Sa'ab or Sa'eeb Al-Anazi narrated to me, he said: I heard Asma' bint 'Umaysh saying that she heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying with my own ears: "Whoever is afflicted with distress, grief, illness, or hardship and says, 'Allah is my Lord, and I have no partner with Him,' Allah will alleviate that from him."  

حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو الْعُيوفِ صَعْبٌ أَوْ صَعِيبٌ الْعَنَزِيُّ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَسْمَاءَ بِنْتِ عُمَيْسٍ تَقُولُ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ بِأُذُنَيَّ هَاتَيْنِ يَقُولُ مَنْ أَصَابَهُ هَمٌّ أَوْ غَمٌّ أَوْ سَقَمٌ أَوْ شِدَّةٌ فَقَالَ اللهُ رَبِّي لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ كَشَفَ ذَلِكَ عَنْهُ  

[Machine] To the messenger of Allah ﷺ, I said: "With what were you walking?" He said: "I was walking with shubrum." I said: "That is hot, very hot." Then I walked with senna (a type of plant). He said: "If there was anything that could cure death, it would be senna."  

لِي رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «بِمَاذَا كُنْتِ تَسْتَمْشِينَ؟» قُلْتُ بِالشُّبْرُمِ قَالَ «ذَاكَ حَارٌّ حَارٌّ» قُلْتُ ثُمَّ اسْتَمْشَيْتُ بِالسَّنَى قَالَ «لَوْ كَانَ شَيْءٌ يَشْفِي مِنَ الْمَوْتِ كَانَ السَّنَى»  

[Machine] "That Bint Yazid, daughter of Sakin, cousin of Muadh bin Jabal, killed nine of the Romans on the day of Yarmouk with her lance."  

«أَنَّ أَسْمَاءَ بِنْتَ يَزِيدَ بْنِ السَّكَنِ بِنْتِ عَمِّ مُعَاذِ بْنِ جَبَلٍ قَتَلَتْ يَوْمَ الْيَرْمُوكِ تِسْعَةً مِنَ الرُّومِ بِعَمُودِ فُسْطَاطِهَا»  

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ was in my house and he mentioned the Dajjal (false messiah). He said, "Between his hands are three years, during which the sky will withhold one-third of its rain, and the earth will withhold one-third of its crops. In the second year, the sky will withhold two-thirds of its rain, and the earth will withhold two-thirds of its crops. In the third year, the sky will withhold all of its rain, and the earth will withhold all of its crops, causing the animals to perish, and no beast with fangs or hooves will remain except that it will die. Indeed, the greatest trial of all is when he comes to the Bedouin and says, 'Do you not believe that I am your lord, and I can bring your camel back to life?' The Bedouin will say, 'Yes.' Then, Satan will appear in the form of the camel, at its most beautiful and at its best times. Similarly, a man will come who lost his father and brother, and the Dajjal will say, 'Do you not believe that I can bring them back to life?' He will say, 'Yes.' Then, Satan will appear in the form of his father and brother." Asma' said, "Then, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ went out for a need and when he returned, the people were in a state of concern and worry due to what he had mentioned. He took hold of the door and said, 'What is the matter?' I (Asma') said, 'O Messenger of Allah, you have frightened us with the mentioning of the Dajjal.' He said, 'If he comes out while I am still alive, I will be his opponent and I will be the defender of every believing Muslim. If he comes out after I have died, then every Muslim will become their own defender.' Asma' said, 'I said, 'By Allah, O Messenger of Allah, we knead our dough and cannot bake it until we become hungry. How will it be for the believers on that day?' He said, 'They will be sufficed by what the inhabitants of the heavens are sufficed with, in terms of glorifying and sanctifying Allah.'"  

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فِي بَيْتِي فَذَكَرَ الدَّجَّالَ فَقَالَ إِنَّ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ ثَلَاثَ سِنِينَ سَنَةٌ تُمْسِكُ السَّمَاءُ فِيهَا ثُلُثَ قَطْرِهَا وَالْأَرْضُ ثُلُثَ نَبَاتِهَا وَالثَّانِيَةُ تُمْسِكُ السَّمَاءُ ثُلُثَيَّ قَطْرِهَا وَالْأَرْضُ ثُلُثَيَّ نَبَاتِهَا وَالثَّالِثَةُ تُمْسِكُ السَّمَاءُ قَطْرَهَا كُلَّهُ وَالْأَرْضُ نَبَاتَهَا فَلَا تَبْقَى ذَاتُ ضِرْسٍ وَلَا ذَاتُ ظِلْفٍ مِنَ الْبَهَائِمِ إِلَّا هَلَكَتْ وَإِنَّهُ مِنْ أَشَدِّ فِتْنَةٍ أَنَّهُ يَأْتِي الْأَعْرَابِيَّ فَيَقُولُ أَرَأَيْتَ إِنْ أَحْيَيْتُ لَكَ إِبِلَكَ أَلَسْتَ تَعْلَمُ أَنِّي رَبُّكَ فَيَقُولُ بَلَى فَيَتَمَثَّلُ لَهُ الشَّيْطَانُ نَحْوَ إِبِلِهِ كَأَحْسَنِ مَا كَانَتْ ضُرُوعًا وَأَعْظَمُهَا أَسْنِمَةً وَيَأْتِي الرَّجُلَ قَدْ مَاتَ أَخُوهُ وَمَاتَ أَبُوهُ فَيَقُولُ أَرَأَيْتَ إِنْ أَحْيَيْتُ لَكَ أَبَاكَ وَأَحْيَيْتُ لَكَ أَخَاكَ أَلَسْتَ تَعْلَمُ أَنِّي رَبُّكَ؟ فَيَقُولُ لَهُ بَلَى فَيَتَمَثَّلُ لَهُ الشَّيْطَانُ نَحْوَ أَبِيهِ وَنَحْوَ أَخِيهِ قَالَتْ ثُمَّ خَرَجَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لِحَاجَةٍ ثُمَّ رَجَعَ وَالْقَوْمُ فِي اهْتِمَامٍ وَغَمٍّ مِمَّا حَدَّثَهُمْ فَأَخَذَ الْبَابَ وَقَالَ «مَهْيَمْ؟» قَالَتْ أَسْمَاءُ قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ لَقَدْ دَلَقْتَ أَفْئِدَتَنَا بِذِكْرِ الدَّجَّالِ فَقَالَ «إِنْ يَخْرُجْ وَأَنَا حَيٌّ فَأَنَا حَجِيجُهُ وإِلَّا فَإِنَّ رَبِّي خَلِيفَتِي عَلَى كُلِّ مُسْلِمٍ مُؤْمِنٍ» قَالَتْ أَسْمَاءُ فَقُلْتُ وَاللهِ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّا لَنَعْجِنُ عَجِينَنَا فَمَا نَخْبِزُ حَتَّى نَجُوعَ فَكَيْفَ بِالْمُؤْمِنِينَ يَوْمَئِذٍ؟ فَقَالَ «يُجْزِئُهُمْ مَا يُجْزِئُ أَهْلَ السَّمَاءِ مِنَ التَّسْبِيحِ وَالتَّقْدِيسِ»  

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was in the company of his companions when they mentioned the Dajjal [the Antichrist]. He said, "Indeed, before the hour comes, there will be three years in which the sky will withhold one-third of its rain, and the earth will withhold one-third of its vegetation. In the second year, the sky will withhold two-thirds of its rain and the earth will withhold two-thirds of its vegetation. In the third year, the sky will withhold all of its rain and the earth will withhold all of its vegetation, until there will remain no seed or plant. Then he [the Messenger] left for his needs and returned with a sad expression. He took hold of the door handle and said, "What is the matter with you?" They said, "O Messenger of Allah, one of us would knead his dough and wait until it leavens." He said, "If I am still among you, then I am his pilgrim. Otherwise, Allah is my successor over every believer." They said, "O Messenger of Allah, how will the believer be recompensed on that day?" He said, "The angels will not be in need of proclaiming the glorification of Allah, the praise of Allah, the declaration of Allah's greatness, and the exaltation of Allah."  

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ كَانَ فِي مَلَأٍ مِنْ أَصْحَابِهِ فَذَكَرُوا الدَّجَّالَ فَقَالَ «إِنَّ بَيْنَ يَدَيَّ السَّاعَةِ حَمْرَاوَاتٍ تُمْسِكُ أَوَّلَ سَنَةٍ مِنَ السَّمَاءِ ثُلُثَ قَطْرِهَا وَالْأَرْضِ ثُلُثَ نَبَاتِهَا وَالسَّنَةُ الثَّانِيَةُ تُمْسِكُ السَّمَاءُ ثُلُثَيَّ قَطْرِهَا وَالْأَرْضُ ثُلُثَيَّ نَبَاتِهَا وَالسَّنَةُ الثَّالِثَةُ تُمْسِكُ السَّمَاءُ قَطْرَهَا وَالْأَرْضُ نَبَاتَهَا حَتَّى لَا يَبْقَى ذُو خُفٍّ وَحَافِرٍ» ثُمَّ خَرَجَ لِحَاجَتِهِ ثُمَّ رَجَعَ وَلَهُمْ حَنِينٌ فَأَخَذَ بِعَضُدَتَيِّ الْبَابِ فَقَالَ «مَا شَأْنُكُمْ؟» قَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّ أَحَدَنَا لَيَعْجِنُ عَجِينَهُ فَمَا يَصْبِرُ حَتَّى يَخْتَمِرَ قَالَ «إِنْ يَخْرُجْ وَأَنَا فِيكُمْ فَأَنَا حَجِيجُهُ وإِلَّا فَإِنَّ اللهَ خَلِيفَتِي عَلَى كُلِّ مُؤْمِنٍ» قَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ فَمَا يُجْزِئُ الْمُؤْمِنَ يَوْمَئِذٍ؟ قَالَ «مَا يُجْزِئُ الْمَلَائِكَةَ مِنَ التَّسْبِيحِ وَالتَّحْمِيدِ وَالتَّهْلِيلِ وَالتَّكْبِيرِ»  

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to me with a group of his companions, and mentioned the Antichrist. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Before his emergence, for three years or one year, the sky will withhold one third of its rain, and the earth will withhold one third of its vegetation. In the second year, the sky will withhold two thirds of its rain, and the earth will withhold two thirds of its vegetation. In the third year, the sky will withhold all its rain, and the earth will withhold all its vegetation, so every animal with a hoof or dentition will perish. One of his greatest trials is that he will say to a Bedouin: 'What do you think if I bring your dead camel back to life? Would you then recognize that I am your Lord?' The Bedouin will say, 'Yes.' So the Shaytan (Satan) will assume the appearance of his camel, in front of him. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ will leave to attend to some of his needs, and I placed the water for his ablution. The people crowded around him until their voices became high. So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ took the door and said, 'What is the matter?' We said, 'O Messenger of Allah, their hearts were weakened because of the Dajjal (Antichrist).' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'If the Dajjal comes out while I am among you, then I will be his Hajj-i.e., I will fight him. But if he comes out after I die, then each person should defend himself with whatever he has.' I said, 'O Messenger of Allah, what will happen to the believers on that day?' He said, 'They will be rewarded with what the inhabitants of Heaven are rewarded with: glorification and sanctification.'"  

أَتَانِي رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فِي طَائِفَةٍ مِنْ أَصْحَابِهِ فَذَكَرَ الدَّجَّالَ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِنَّ قَبْلَ خُرُوجِهِ ثَلَاثَ سِنِينَ أَوْ سَنَةً تُمْسِكُ السَّمَاءُ ثُلُثَ قَطْرِهَا وَتُمْسِكُ الْأَرْضُ ثُلُثَ نَبَاتِهَا وَالسَّنَةَ الثَّانِيَةَ تُمْسِكُ السَّمَاءُ ثُلُثَيَّ قَطْرِهَا وَتُمْسِكُ الْأَرْضُ ثُلُثَيَّ نَبَاتِهَا وَالسَّنَةَ الثَّالِثَةَ تُمْسِكُ السَّمَاءُ مَا فِيهَا وَالْأَرْضُ مَا فِيهَا فَيَهْلِكَ كُلُّ ذَاتِ ضِرْسٍ وظِلْفٍ وَمِنْ أَشَدِّ فِتْنَتِهِ أَنَّهُ يَقُولُ لِلْأَعْرَابِيِّ أَرَأَيْتَ إِنْ أَحْيَيْتُ لَكَ إِبِلَكَ عَظِيمَةً ضُرُوعُهَا طَوِيلَةً أَسْنِمَتُهَا بَحْتَرٌ تَعْلَمُ أَنِّي رَبُّكَ؟ فَيَقُولُ نَعَمْ فَيََتَمََثَّلُ لَهُ الشَّيْطَانُ ثُمَّ خَرَجَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لِبَعْضِ حَاجَتِهِ وَوَضَعْتُ لَهُ وُضُوءَهُ وانْتَحَبَ الْقَوْمُ حَتَّى ارْتَفَعَتْ أَصْوَاتُهُمْ فَأَخَذَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ الْبَابَ فَقَالَ «مَهْيَمْ؟» فَقُلْنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ خَلَعْتَ قُلُوبَهُمْ بِالدَّجَّالِ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «إِنْ يَخْرُجِ الدَّجَّالُ وَأَنَا حَيٌّ فَأَنَا حَجِيجُهُ وَإِنْ مِتُّ فَإِنَّ اللهَ خَلِيفَتِي عَلَى كُلِّ مُؤْمِنٍ» قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ فَمَا يُجْزِئُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ يَوْمَئِذٍ؟ قَالَ «يُجْزِئُهُمْ مَا يُجْزِئُ أَهْلَ السَّمَاءِ التَّسْبِيحَ وَالتَّقْدِيسَ»  

[Machine] We were with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in a house, and he said, "Before the emergence of the Antichrist, the sky will withhold a third of its rain for three years, and the earth will withhold a third of its vegetation. Then in the second year, the sky will withhold two-thirds of its rain, and the earth will withhold two-thirds of its vegetation. Then in the third year, the sky will withhold all of its rain and the earth will withhold all of its vegetation." Then he mentioned a narration similar to that of Al-Awza'i.  

كُنَّا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فِي بَيْتٍ فَقَالَ «إِذَا كَانَ قَبْلَ خُرُوجِ الدَّجَّالِ حَبَسَتِ السَّمَاءُ ثُلُثَ قَطْرِهَا ثَلَاثَ سِنِينَ وَحَبَسَتِ الْأَرْضُ ثُلُثَ نَبَاتِهَا فَإِذَا كَانَتِ السَّنَةُ الثَّانِيَةُ حَبَسَتِ السَّمَاءُ ثُلُثَيَّ قَطْرِهَا وَحَبَسَتِ الْأَرْضُ ثُلُثَيَّ نَبَاتِهَا فَإِذَا كَانَتِ السَّنَةُ الثَّالِثَةُ حَبَسْتِ السَّمَاءُ قَطْرَهَا وَالْأَرْضَ نَبَاتَهَا كُلَّهُ» فَذَكَرَ نَحْوَ حَدِيثِ الْأَوْزَاعِيِّ
