[Machine] His name is Zaid.
مَنِ اسْمُهُ زَيْدٌ
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "My companions are like a guiding light, and the people are also like a guiding light." Then Zaid bin Thabit and Rafa'ah bin Khadeej said, "He (the Messenger of Allah) spoke the truth."
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «أَصْحَابِي حَيِّزٌ وَالنَّاسُ حَيِّزٌ» فَقَالَ زَيْدُ بْنُ ثَابِتٍ وَرَافِعُ بْنُ خَدِيجٍ صَدَقَ
[Machine] I heard Zaid ibn Thabit saying, "When the revelation was revealed to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , it would weigh heavily on him, and sweat would drip from his forehead as if it were pearls, even in cold weather." The wording is from 'Uqbah ibn Mukram.
سَمِعْتُ زَيْدَ بْنَ ثَابِتٍ يَقُولُ «كَانَ إِذَا أُنْزِلَ الْوَحْيُ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ ثَقُلَ لِذَلِكَ ويَحْدُرُ جَبِينُهُ عَرَقًا كَأَنَّهُ الْجُمَانُ وَإِنْ كَانَ فِي الْبَرْدِ» وَاللَّفْظُ لِعُقْبَةَ بْنِ مُكْرَمٍ
[Machine] "The Prophet ﷺ used to dictate letters to Abdullah bin Arqam, who would then write them to the kings. One time, Abdullah informed the Prophet ﷺ that he used to write letters to some kings, and then the Prophet ﷺ would instruct him to seal them without reading them, trusting his honesty. The Prophet ﷺ also dictated letters to Zaid bin Thabit, who would write down revelations and letters to the kings as well. In their absence, if there was a need to write to some commanders of armies or kings, they would write a letter that would be read and acted upon by anyone present. Omar bin Khattab, Uthman bin Affan, Ali bin Abi Talib, Zaid bin Thabit, Mugheerah bin Shu'bah, Muawiyah bin Abi Sufyan, Khalid bin Saeed bin Al-Aas, and others from among the Arabs have all written letters on his behalf."
«أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ اسْتَكْتَبَ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ الْأَرْقَمِ فَكَانَ يَكْتُبُ إِلَى الْمُلُوكِ فَبَلَغَ مِنْ أَمَانَتِهِ عَنْدَهُ أَنَّهُ كَانَ يَكْتُبُ إِلَى بَعْضِ الْمُلُوكِ فَيَكْتُبُ ثُمَّ يَأْمُرُهُ أَنْ يُطَبِّقَهُ ثُمَّ يَخْتِمُ لَا يَقْرَأُهُ لِأَمانِتِهِ عَنْدَهُ واسْتَكْتَبَ أَيْضًا زَيْدَ بْنَ ثَابِتٍ فَكَانَ يَكْتُبُ الْوَحْيَ وَيَكْتُبُ إِلَى الْمُلُوكِ أَيْضًا وَكَانَ إِذَا غَابَ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ الْأَرْقَمِ وَزَيْدُ بْنُ ثَابِتٍ فَاحْتَاجَ أَنْ يَكْتُبَ إِلَى بَعْضِ أُمَرَاءِ الْأَجْنَادِ وَالْمُلُوكِ وَيَكْتُبَ لِإِنْسَانٍ كِتَابًا يَقْطَعُهُ أَمَرَ مَنْ حَضَرَ أَنْ يَكْتُبَ وَقَدْ كَتَبَ لَهُ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ وَعُثْمَانُ بْنُ عَفَّانَ وَعَلِيُّ بْنُ أَبِي طَالِبٍ وَزَيْدُ بْنُ ثَابِتٍ وَالْمُغِيرَةُ بْنُ شُعْبَةَ وَمُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ وَخَالِدُ بْنُ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْعَاصِّ ؓ وَغَيْرُهُمْ مِمَّنْ قَدْ سُمَيَّ مِنَ الْعَرَبِ»
«لَقَدْ دُفِنَ الْيَوْمَ عَلْمٌ كَثِيرٌ»
أَنْ يَجْعَلَ فِي ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ مِنْهُ خَلْفًا»
[Machine] "To know how knowledge is vanishing, this is how knowledge is vanishing. By Allah! Much knowledge has disappeared today." Sa'id bin Musayyib said, "And the one who says much knowledge has gone with him, meaning Ibn Abbas."
أَنْ يَعْلَمَ كَيْفَ ذَهَابُ الْعِلْمِ فَهَكَذَا ذَهَابُ الْعِلْمِ وَايْمُ اللهِ لَقَدْ ذَهَبَ الْيَوْمَ عِلْمٌ كَثِيرٌ» قَالَ سَعِيدُ بْنُ الْمُسَيِّبِ «وَالْقَائِلُ لَقَدْ ذَهَبَ بِهِ عِلْمٌ كَثِيرٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ»
[Machine] I heard Muhammad bin Abdullah bin Numayr say, "Zaid bin Thabit died in the year forty-five, and Kharijah bin Zaid bin Thabit died in the year ninety-nine."
سَمِعْتُ مُحَمَّدَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ نُمَيْرٍ يَقُولُ «مَاتَ زَيْدُ بْنُ ثَابِتٍ سَنَةَ خَمْسٍ وَأَرْبَعِينَ وَمَاتَ خَارِجَةُ بْنُ زَيْدِ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ سَنَةَ تِسْعٍ وَتِسْعِينَ»
[Machine] Because the Messenger of Allah ﷺ gave him permission on the day of Khandaq (the Battle of the Trench) when he was fifteen years old, and the Battle of the Trench took place in the month of Shawwal in the fourth year (after the migration to Medina), and there is disagreement regarding his death.
لِأَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ أَجَازَهُ يَوْمَ الْخَنْدَقِ وَهُوَ ابْنُ خَمْسَ عَشْرَةَ وَالْخَنْدَقُ فِي شَوَّالٍ سَنَةَ أَرْبَعَ وَقَدِ اخْتُلِفَ فِي وَفَاتِهِ
[Machine] That Zaid ibn Thabit passed away in the year fifty-one.
أَنَّ زَيْدَ بْنَ ثَابِتٍ تُوُفِّيَ سَنَةَ إِحْدَى وَخَمْسِينَ»
«هَلَكَ زَيْدُ بْنُ ثَابِتٍ سَنَةَ خَمْسٍ وَخَمْسِينَ»
«أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ نَهَى عَنِ الْمُزَابَنَةِ»
[Machine] Al-Qa'nabi narrated to us, and Abdullah ibn Ahmad ibn Hanbal narrated to us, and Ubaid ibn Ghannam narrated to us, and Abu Bakr ibn Abi Shaybah narrated to us, they said: Sufyan narrated to us, from Az-Zuhri, from Salim, from Ibn Umar, from Zaid ibn Thabit, "That the Prophet ﷺ permitted the sale of captives."
ثنا الْقَعْنَبِيُّ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ حَنْبَلٍ ثنا أَبِي ح وَحَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ بْنُ غَنَّامٍ ثنا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ قَالُوا ثنا سُفْيَانُ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ سَالِمٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ «أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ رَخَّصَ فِي بَيْعِ الْعَرَايَا»
the Messenger of Allah granted a concession allowing 'Araya sales for dried dates by estimation. (Using translation from Nasāʾī 4539)
«أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ رَخَّصَ فِي بَيْعِ الْعَرَايَا أَنْ تُبَاعَ بِخَرْصِهَا تَمْرًا وَلَمْ يُرَخِّصْ غَيْرَ ذَلِكَ»
"The Messenger of Allah granted a concession allowing 'Araya sales for fresh dates and for dried dates, but he did not allow anything other than that." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 4540)
«رَخَّصَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فِي بَيْعِ الْعَرَايَا بِالتَّمْرِ وَالرُّطَبِ وَلَمْ يُرَخِّصْ فِي غَيْرِ ذَلِكَ»

«أَنَّ نَبِيَّ اللهُ ﷺ رَخَّصَ فِي بَيْعِ الْعَرَايَا بِالرُّطَبِ أَوْ بِتَمْرٍ وَلَمْ يُرَخِّصْ فِي غَيْرِ ذَلِكَ»
"The Messenger of Allah granted a concession allowing 'Araya sales for fresh dates and for dried dates, but he did not allow anything other than that." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 4540)
أَخْبَرَهُ «أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ رَخَّصَ فِي بَيْعِ الْعَرَايَا بِالرُّطَبِ وَالتَّمْرِ وَلَمْ يُرَخِّصْ فِي غَيْرِ ذَلِكَ»
The Prophet ﷺ permitted selling the dates of the 'Araya for ready dates by estimating the amount of the former (as they are still on the trees). (Using translation from Bukhārī 2380)
«رَخَّصَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَنْ تُبَاعَ الْعَرَايَا بِخَرْصِهَا تَمْرًا»
[Machine] "The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , permitted the selling of dates by the bushel."
«رَخَّصَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فِي الْعَرَايَا أَنْ تُبَاعَ بِخَرْصِهَا تَمْرًا»

«أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ رَخَّصَ فِي بَيْعِ الْعَرَايَا بِخَرْصِهَا تَمْرًا»
[Machine] "The Prophet ﷺ permitted the sale of a garment that the people of the house take after wearing it and consume it while it is still fresh."
«أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ رَخَّصَ فِي بَيْعِ الْعَرِيَّةِ يَأْخُذُهَا أَهْلُ الْبَيْتِ بِخَرْصِهَا يَأْكُلُونَهَا رُطَبًا»
[Machine] Thana al-Qa'nabi from Malik from Nafi' from Ibn 'Umar from Zaid ibn Thabit that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ allowed the owner of a camel saddle to sell it along with its padding.
ثنا الْقَعْنَبِيُّ عَنْ مَالِكٍ عَنْ نَافِعٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ «أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ رَخَّصَ لِصَاحِبِ الْعَرِيَّةِ أَنْ يَبِيعَهَا بِخَرْصِهَا كَيْلًا»
[Machine] Abu Muslim al-Kashshi and Yusuf al-Qadi narrated to us, they said: Suleiman bin Harb reported to us, he said: Hammad bin Zaid reported to us, from Ayyub, from Nafi, from Ibn Umar, who said: Zaid bin Thabit told me, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ permitted the sale of unborn livestock with their mothers."
وَحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُسْلِمٍ الْكَشِّيُّ وَيُوسُفُ الْقَاضِي قَالَا ثنا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ قَالَا ثنا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ عَنْ أَيُّوبَ عَنْ نَافِعٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ حَدَّثَنِي زَيْدُ بْنُ ثَابِتٍ «أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ رَخَّصَ فِي بَيْعِ الْعَرَايَا بِخَرْصِهَا»
"Zaid bin Thabit narrated to me that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ gave a concession regarding the sale of 'Araya.” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 2268)
«أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ رَخَّصَ فِي بَيْعِ الْعَرَايَا»
[Machine] Zaid ibn Thabit "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ granted permission to sell the dates of a palm tree and the two palm trees as a gift to a man, so he sells them for their value in dates."
زَيْدُ بْنُ ثَابِتٍ «رَخَّصَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فِي بَيْعِ الْعَرَايَا النَّخْلَةَ وَالنَّخْلَتَيْنِ تُوهَبانِ لِلرَّجُلِ فَيَبِيعُهَا بِخَرْصِهَا تَمْرًا»
"Zaid bin Thabit narrated to me that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ gave a concession regarding the sale of 'Araya.” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 2268)
«أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ رَخَّصَ فِي بَيْعِ الْعَرَايَا بِكَيلِها»
[Machine] Al-Qa'nabi narrated, on the authority of 'Ubaidullah bin 'Umar, from Nafi', from Ibn 'Umar, from Zaid bin Thabit, that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ allowed the sale of al-ara'aya with its date syrup measure.
ثنا الْقَعْنَبِيُّ ثنا عُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ عَنْ نَافِعٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ «أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ رَخَّصَ فِي بَيْعِ الْعَرَايَا بِخَرْصِهَا كَيْلًا»
Zaid b. Thabit (Allah be pleased with him) reported Messenger of Allah ﷺ granting concession in case of 'ariyya transactions and that implies selling of (dry dates for fresh dates) according to a measure. (Using translation from Muslim 1539h)
«أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ رَخَّصَ فِي بَيْعِ الْعَرَايَا أَنْ تُبَاعَ بِخَرْصِهَا كَيْلًا»

«أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ رَخَّصَ فِي الْعَرَايَا بِخَرْصِهَا كَيْلًا»
Messenger of Allah ﷺ al lowed the owner of 'Araya to sell the fruits on the trees by means of estimation. (Using translation from Bukhārī 2188)
«أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ رَخَّصَ لِصَاحِبِ الْعَرِيَّةِ أَنْ يَبِيعَهَا بِخَرْصِهَا»
the Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade the Muhaqalah and the Muzabanah. (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 2266)
«أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ نَهَى عَنِ الْمُحَاقَلَةَ وَالْمُزَابَنَةِ»
[Machine] "Do not sell it until you bring it to your house, for indeed the Prophet ﷺ forbade selling such."
«لَا تَبِعْهُ حَتَّى تَحُوزَهَ إِلَى بَيْتِكَ فَإِنَّ نَبِيَّ اللهِ ﷺ نَهَى عَنْ بَيْعِ ذَلِكِ»
I bought olive oil in the market. When I became its owner, a man met me and offered good profit for it. I intended to settle the bargain with him, but a man caught hold of my hand from behind. When I turned I found that he was Zayd ibn Thabit. He said: Do not sell it on the spot where you have bought it until you take it to your house, for the Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade to sell the goods where they are bought until the tradesmen take them to their houses. ابْتَعْتُ زَيْتًا مِنَ السُّوقِ حَتَّى إِذَا اسْتَوْفَيْتُ لَقِيَنِي رَجُلٌ فَأَعْطَانِي بِهِ رِبْحًا حَسَنًا فَأَرَدْتُ أَنْ أَضْرِبَ بِيَدِي عَلَى يَدَهِ فَأَخَذَ رَجُلٌ مِنْ خَلْفِي بِذِرَاعِي فَالْتَفَتُّ فَإِذَا زَيْدُ بْنُ ثَابِتٍ فَقَالَ لَا تَبِعْهُ حَيْثُ ابْتَعْتَهُ حَتَّى تَحُوزَهَ إِلَى رَحْلِكِ «فَإِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ نَهَى أَنْ تُبَاعَ السِّلْعَةُ حَيْثُ تَبْتَاعُ حَتَّى يَحُوزَهَا التُّجَّارُ إِلَى رِحَالِهِمْ»
[Machine] "Do not follow him until you convey it to your companion, for the Messenger of Allah ﷺ has commanded that."
«لَا تَبِعْهُ حَتَّى تَنْقُلَهُ إِلَى رَحْلِكَ فَإِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ أَمَرَ بِذَلِكَ»
[Machine] While the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was within the walls of Banu Najjar and he was riding on his mule, and we were with him, he said, "Seek refuge with Allah from the torment of the grave, seek refuge with Allah from the torment of the fire." We said, "We seek refuge with Allah from the torment of the grave, we seek refuge with Allah from the torment of the fire." He said, "Seek refuge with Allah from the trials, whether apparent or hidden." We said, "We seek refuge with Allah from the trials, whether apparent or hidden." He said, "Seek refuge with Allah from the trial of the Dajjal (Antichrist)." They said, "We seek refuge with Allah from the trial of the Dajjal."
بَيْنَمَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فِي حَائِطٍ لِبَنِي النَّجَّارِ وَهُوَ عَلَى بَغْلَةٍ لَهُ وَنَحْنُ مَعَهُ قَالَ «تَعَوَّذُوا بِاللهِ مِنْ عَذَابِ الْقَبْرِ تَعَوَّذُوا بِاللهِ مِنْ عَذَابِ النَّارِ» قُلْنَا نَعُوذُ بِاللهِ مِنْ عَذَابِ الْقَبْرِ نَعُوذُ بِاللهِ مِنْ عَذَابِ النَّارِ قَالَ «تَعَوَّذُوا بِاللهِ مِنَ الْفِتَنِ مَا ظَهَرَ مِنْهَا وَمَا بَطَنَ» قُلْنَا نَعُوذُ بِاللهِ مِنَ الْفِتَنِ مَا ظَهَرَ مِنْهَا وَمَا بَطَنَ قَالَ «تَعَوَّذُوا بِاللهِ مِنْ فِتْنَةِ الدَّجَّالِ» قَالُوا نَعُوذُ بِاللهِ مِنْ فِتْنَةِ الدَّجَّالِ
[Machine] Narrated Abu Sa'id Al-Khudri: When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ passed away, the Ansar (supporters) stood up and said, "O companions of the Muhajireen (emigrants), indeed the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to pair one of you with one of us when he sent a person from among you." So we see that this matter should be handed over to two men, one from among you and one from among us. Zaid bin Thabit stood up and said, "Indeed the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was from the Muhajireen, and we were the supporters of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. So we are the supporters of whoever takes his place." Abu Bakr said, "May Allah reward you with good, O Ansar. Your statement has been correct. By Allah, if I said otherwise, I would not have fulfilled my duty towards you."
عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ ؓ قَالَ لَمَّا تُوُفِّيَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ قَامَ خُطَبَاءُ الْأَنْصَارِ فَقَالُوا يَا مَعْشَرَ الْمُهَاجِرِينَ «إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ كَانَ إِذَا بَعَثَ رَجُلًا مِنْكُمْ قَرَنَهُ بِرَجُلٍ مِنَّا» فَنَحْنُ نَرَى أَنْ يَلِيَ هَذَا الْأَمْرَ رَجُلَانِ رَجُلٌ مِنْكُمْ وَرَجُلٌ مِنَّا فَقَامَ زَيْدُ بْنُ ثَابِتٍ فَقَالَ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ مِنَ الْمُهَاجِرِينَ وَكُنَّا أَنْصَارَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَنَحْنُ أَنْصَارُ مَنْ يَقُومُ مَقَامَهُ فَقَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ ؓ جَزَاكُمُ اللهُ خَيْرًا مِنْ حَيٍّ يَا مَعْشَرَ الْأَنْصَارِ وَثَبَّتَ قَائِلُكُمْ وَاللهِ لَوْ قُلْتُ غَيْرَ ذَلِكَ مَا صَالَحْنَاكُمْ
[Machine] "To emerge, then they argued with the Prophet ﷺ , so the Prophet ﷺ said: 'If you do this, do not engage in transactions until its righteousness becomes evident.'"
أَنْ تَطْلُعَ ثُمَّ يَخْتَصِمُونَ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «أَمَا إِذَا فَعَلْتُمْ هَذَا فَلَا تَبَايَعُوا حَتَّى يَبْدُوَ صَلَاحُهُ»
that the Prophet ﷺ looked towards Yemen and said: "O Allah direct their hearts and bless us in our Sa' and our Mudd." (Using translation from Tirmidhī 3934)
أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ نَظَرَ قِبَلَ الْيَمَنِ فَقَالَ «اللهُمَّ أَقْبِلْ بِقُلُوبِهِمْ وَبَارِكْ لَنَا فِي صَاعِنَا وَمُدِّنَا»
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , looked towards Yemen and said, "O Allah, turn their hearts (to the truth)." Then he looked towards Iraq and said, "O Allah, turn their hearts (to the truth)." Then he looked towards Syria and said, "O Allah, turn their hearts (to the truth) and bless us in our Sa'in and Muddin."
نَظَرَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ قِبَلَ الْيَمَنِ فَقَالَ «اللهُمَّ أَقْبِلْ بِقُلُوبِهِمْ» وَنَظَرَ قِبَلَ الْعِرَاقِ فَقَالَ «اللهُمَّ أَقْبِلْ بِقُلُوبِهِمْ» وَنَظَرَ قِبَلَ الشَّامِ فَقَالَ «اللهُمَّ أَقْبِلْ بِقُلُوبِهِمْ وَبَارِكْ لَنَا فِي صَاعِنَا وَمُدِّنَا»
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah, may ﷺ , prayed for his ummah and said, "O Allah, bring their hearts closer to Your religion and remove from behind them obstacles with Your mercy." Zaid ibn Thabit did not mention anything.
دَعَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لِأُمَّتِهِ فَقَالَ «اللهُمَّ أَقْبِلْ بِقُلُوبِهِمْ إِلَى دِينِكَ وَحُطَّ مَنْ وَرَاءَهُمْ بِرَحْمَتِكَ» وَلَمْ يَذْكُرْ زَيْدَ بْنَ ثَابِتٍ
[Machine] "We had suhoor with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , then we went out for prayer." I said, "How much time was there between the adhan (call to prayer), iqamah (second call to prayer), and suhoor?" He said, "About fifty verses worth."
«تَسَحَّرْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ ثُمَّ خَرَجْنَا إِلَى الصَّلَاةِ» قُلْتُ كَمْ كَانَ بَيْنَ الْأَذَانِ وَالْإِقَامَةِ وَالسَّحُورِ قَالَ قَدْرُ خَمْسِينَ آيَةً
"How long was there between them?" He said: "As long as it takes a man to recite fifty verses." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 2155)
«تَسَحَّرْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ ثُمَّ خَرَجْنَا إِلَى الصَّلَاةِ» قُلْتُ كَمْ كَانَ بَيْنَ الْأَذَانِ وَالْإِقَامَةِ؟ قَالَ قَدْرُ خَمْسِينَ آيَةً
[Machine] "We had Suhoor (pre-dawn meal) with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , then we went out and performed (the Fajr) prayer."
«تَسَحَّرْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ ثُمَّ خَرَجْنَا فَصَلَّيْنَا»
[Machine] "We had suhoor with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , and we did not get up until he prayed Fajr." I said, "So how much time passed?" He said, "The time it takes for a person to recite fifty verses."
«تَسَحَّرْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَمَا قُمْنَا حَتَّى صَلَّى الْغَدَاةَ» قُلْتُ فَمَا قَدْرُ ذَلِكَ؟ قَالَ قَدْرُ مَا يَقْرَأُ الْإِنْسَانُ خَمْسِينَ آيَةً
[Machine] "Do you know why I accompanied you on this walk?"
I replied, "No."
He then said, "So that our footsteps may increase in walking towards prayer."
«أَتَدْرِي لِمَ مَشَيْتُ بِكَ هَذِهِ الْمِشْيَةَ؟» فَقُلْتُ لَا فَقَالَ «لِتَكْثُرَ خُطَانَا فِي الْمَشْيِ إِلَى الصَّلَاةِ» وَلَمْ يَرْفَعْهُ السَّرِيُّ بْنُ يَحْيَى
[Machine] "That He rose on the earth walking with me until we reached the Mosque, then he said, 'Do you know, Thabit, why I walked with you in this walk until we entered the Mosque?' I said, 'Allah and His Messenger know best.' He said, 'It was so that the number of steps in seeking the prayer would increase.'"
أَنِ اسْتَوَى عَلَى الْأَرْضِ مَشَى بِي ثُمَّ قَارَبَ فِي الْخُطَى حَتَّى دَخَلْتُ الْمَسْجِدَ فَقَالَ أَتَدْرِي يَا ثَابِتُ لِمَ مَشَيْتُ بِكَ هَذِهِ الْمِشْيَةَ حَتَّى دَخَلْتُ الْمَسْجِدَ؟ إِنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ مَشَى بِي هَذِهِ الْمِشْيَةَ وَقَالَ «أَتَدْرِي لِمَ مَشَيْتُ بِكَ هَذِهِ الْمِشْيَةَ؟» قُلْتُ اللهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ قَالَ «لِيَكْثُرَ عَدَدُ الْخُطَى فِي طَلَبِ الصَّلَاةِ»
[Machine] The prayer was established, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ went out with me. He took a few steps and said, "I only did this to increase the number of my footsteps in seeking prayer."
أُقِيمَتِ الصَّلَاةُ فَخَرَجَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَأَنَا مَعَهُ فَقَارَبَ بَيْنَ الْخُطَى وَقَالَ «إِنَّمَا فَعَلْتُ هَذَا لِيَكْثُرَ عَدَدُ خُطَاي فِي طَلَبِ الصَّلَاةِ»
