٥٢۔ كِتَابُ الزِّينَةِ ص ٧
While we were with 'Utba b. Farqad there came a letter of 'Umar (containing the instructions) that Messenger of Allah ﷺ had said: None should wear silk (with the exception of so much) but he will have nothing of it in the Hereafter. Abu 'Uthman said: To the extent of two fingers which are close to the thumb, and I was shown the (silk) borders of the Tayalisa mantle (which were about two fingers in breadth and I saw them. أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «لَا يَلْبَسُ الْحَرِيرَ إِلَّا مَنْ لَيْسَ لَهُ مِنْهُ فِي الْآخِرَةِ شَيْءٌ إِلَّا هَكَذَا» وَقَالَ أَبُو عُثْمَانَ بِإِصْبَعَيْهِ اللَّتَيْنِ تَلِيَانِ الْإِبْهَامَ فَرَأَيْتُهُمَا أَزْرَارَ الطَّيَالِسَةَ حَتَّى رَأَيْتُ الطَّيَالِسَةَ
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade silk except for these two fingers.
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ نَهَى عَنِ الْحَرِيرِ إِلَّا هَكَذَا إِصْبَعَيْنِ
[Machine] Nothing should be worn silk except in the place of two fingers.
عَنْ لُبْسِ الْحَرِيرِ إِلَّا مَوْضِعَ إِصْبَعَيْنِ»
[Machine] About wearing silk, except for the space of two fingers or three or four, Dawood ibn Abi Hind and Ismail and Wabra have held the opinion.
عَنْ لُبْسِ الْحَرِيرِ إِلَّا مَوْضِعَ إِصْبَعَيْنِ أَوْ ثَلَاثَةً أَوْ أَرْبَعَةً وَقَفَهُ دَاوُدُ بْنُ أَبِي هِنْدٍ وَإِسْمَاعِيلُ وَوَبْرَةُ
يَزِيدُ لَا أَدْرِي كَيْفَ قَالَ
[Machine] Umar said, "Wear silk like this and this, with two fingers or three or four."
قَالَ عُمَرُ «الْبَسُوا مِنَ الْحَرِيرِ هَكَذَا وَهَكَذَا إِصْبَعَيْنِ أَوْ ثَلَاثَةً أَوْ أَرْبَعَةً»
[Machine] Umar said, "It is not permissible or appropriate for silk except in such a way: two or three fingers wide, either in cuffs or in a buttonhole." Ibrahim Al-Nakha'i followed this statement.
قَالَ عُمَرُ «لَا يَحِلُّ أَوْ لَا يَنْبَغِي مِنَ الْحَرِيرِ إِلَّا هَكَذَا وَهَكَذَا إِصْبَعَيْنِ عَرَضًا أَوْ ثَلَاثَةً أَوْ أَرْبَعَةً فِي كَفَافٍ أَوْ زِرَارٍ» [414] تَابَعَهُ إِبْرَاهِيمُ النَّخَعِيُّ عَلَى ذَلِكَ
He did not allow the wearing of silk except (something) the width of four fingers. (Using translation from Nasāʾī 5313)
«أَنَّهُ لَمْ يُرَخِّصْ فِي الدِّيبَاجِ إِلَّا مَوْضِعَ أَرْبَعَةِ أَصَابِعَ»
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ gave license to 'Abd al-Rahman b. 'Awf and al-Zubair b. al-'Awwam to wear silk shirts during a journey because of an itch which they had. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 4056)
«أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ رَخَّصَ لِعَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَوْفٍ وَالزُّبَيْرِ بْنِ الْعَوَّامِ فِي قُمُصِ حَرِيرٍ مِنْ حَكَّةٍ كَانَتْ بِهِمَا فِي السَّفَرِ»
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ gave license to 'Abd al-Rahman b. 'Awf and al-Zubair b. al-'Awwam to wear silk shirts during a journey because of an itch which they had. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 4056)
«أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ رَخَّصَ لِعَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ وَالزُّبَيْرُ فِي قُمُصِ حَرِيرٍ مِنْ حِكَّةٍ كَانَتْ بِهِمَا»
[Machine] That 'Abdul Rahman ibn 'Awf and Az-Zubayr complained to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about lice, so he permitted them to wear silk shirts. Anas said, "I saw them wearing shirts made of silk."
أَنَّ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ عَوْفٍ وَالزُّبَيْرَ شَكَيَا إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ الْقَمْلَ فَرَخَّصَ لَهُمَا فِي الْقَمِيصِ الْحَرِيرِ قَالَ أَنَسٌ قَدْ رَأَيْتُ عَلَيْهِمَا قَمِيصًا مِنْ حَرِيرٍ

٥٢۔٨٧ لُبْسُ الْخَزِّ
[Machine] I saw a man on a mule with a black turban on his head, and he was placing his hand on it and saying, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ had dressed me in this."
رَأَيْتُ رَجُلًا عَلَى بَغْلَةٍ وَعَلَيْهِ عِمَامَةُ خَزٍّ أَسْوَدَ وَهُوَ يَضَعُ يَدَهُ عَلَيْهَا وَيَقُولُ «كَسَانِيهَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ»
52.88 [Machine] Lubsu al-hulali
٥٢۔٨٨ لُبْسُ الْحُلَلِ
[Machine] "I saw the Prophet ﷺ wearing a red cloak riding on a horse, and I have never seen anyone before or after him who was more beautiful than him." [416] Ash'ath ibn Sawwar contradicted this narration, as narrated by Abu Ishaq from Jabir ibn Samurah."
«رَأَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ وَعَلَيْهِ حُلَّةٌ حَمْرَاءُ مُتَرَجِّلًا لَمْ أَرَ قَبْلَهُ وَلَا بَعْدَهُ أَحَدًا هُوَ أَجْمَلُ مِنْهُ» [416] خَالَفَهُ أَشْعَثُ بْنُ سَوَّارٍ رَوَاهُ عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ
[Machine] "I saw the Prophet ﷺ one night in a red clothing, and I was contemplating looking at him and at the moon, but he appeared more beautiful to me than the moon." Abu Abdur-Rahman said to us, "This is incorrect, the correct version is the one before it. And Ashaath is weak."
«رَأَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فِي لَيْلَةٍ فِي حُلَّةٍ حَمْرَاءَ فَجَعَلْتُ أَنْظُرُ إِلَيْهِ وَإِلَى الْقَمَرِ فَلَهُوَ أَحْسَنُ عِنْدِي مِنَ الْقَمَرِ» قَالَ لَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ هَذَا خَطَأٌ وَالصَّوَابُ الَّذِي قَبْلَهُ وَأَشْعَثُ ضَعِيفٌ
It was narrated from Awn bin Abi Juhaifah, from his father that, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ went out in a red Hullah, and he set up a short spear (Anazah) and prayed facing toward it, while dogs, women and donkeys were passing beyond it. (Using translation from Nasāʾī 772)
«أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ خَرَجَ فِي حُلَّةٍ حَمْرَاءَ فَرَكَزَ عَنَزَةً يُصَلِّي إِلَيْهَا يَمُرُّ مِنْ وَرَائِهَا الْكَلْبُ وَالْمَرْأَةُ وَالْحِمَارُ»
52.89 [Machine] The command to wear white clothes
٥٢۔٨٩ الْأَمْرُ بِلُبْسِ الثِّيَابِ الْبِيضِ
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Wear white clothes and shroud your deceased in them, for they are purer and cleaner."
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «الْبَسُوا الثِّيَابَ الْبَيَاضَ وَكَفِّنُوا فِيهَا أَمْوَاتَكُمْ فَإِنَّهَا أَطْيَبُ وَأَطْهَرُ»
"The Messenger of Allah [SAW] said: 'You should wear white garments; dress your living ones in them, and shroud your dead in them, for they are among the best of your garments.'" (Using translation from Nasāʾī 5323)
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «عَلَيْكُمْ بِثِيَابِ الْبَيَاضِ لِيَلْبَسَهَا أَحْيَاؤُكُمْ وَكَفِّنُوا فِيهَا مَوْتَاكُمْ فَإِنَّهَا مِنْ خَيْرِ ثِيَابِكُمْ»
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Adorn yourselves with white garments, for it is the best of your garments. And shroud your deceased in them. Sa'id bin Abi 'Arubah contradicted this, narrating from Ayyub, from Abu Qilabah, from Abu al-Muhallab, from Samurah."
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «عَلَيْكُمْ بِالْبَيَاضِ مِنَ الثِّيَابِ فَلْيَلْبَسْهَا أَحْيَاؤُكُمْ وَكَفِّنُوا فِيهَا مَوْتَاكُمْ فَإِنَّهَا مِنْ خَيْرِ ثِيَابِكُمْ» خَالَفَهُ سَعِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي عَرُوبَةَ رَوَاهُ عَنْ أَيُّوبَ عَنْ أَبِي قِلَابَةَ عَنْ أَبِي الْمُهَلَّبِ عَنْ سَمُرَةَ
The Prophet [SAW] said: "Wear white garments, for they are purer and better, and shroud your dead in them." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 5322)
عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «الْبَسُوا مِنْ ثِيَابِكُمُ الْبَيَاضَ فَإِنَّهَا أَطْهُرُ وَأَطْيَبُ وَكَفِّنُوا فِيهَا مَوْتَاكُمْ» قَالَ يَحْيَى لَمْ أَكْتُبْهُ قُلْتُ لِمَ؟ قَالَ اسْتَغْنَيْتُ بِحَدِيثِ مَيْمُونِ بْنِ أَبِي شَبِيبٍ عَنْ سَمُرَةَ
52.90 [Machine] Translation: "The Ink
٥٢۔٩٠ الْحِبَرَةُ
Anas reported that the garment most liked by Messenger of Allah ﷺ was the mantle of Yemen. (Using translation from Muslim 2079b)
«كَانَ أَحَبُّ الثِّيَابِ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ الْحِبَرَةُ»
52.91 [Machine] Prohibition of wearing yellow garments
٥٢۔٩١ النَّهْيُ عَنْ لُبْسِ الْمُعَصْفَرِ
The Messenger of Allah [SAW] saw him wearing two garments dyed with safflower and he said: "This is the clothing of disbelievers; do not wear it." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 5316)
أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّهُ رَآهُ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَعَلَيْهِ ثَوْبَانِ مُعَصْفَرَانِ فَقَالَ «هَذِهِ ثِيَابُ الْكُفَّارِ فَلَا تَلْبَسْهَا»
He came to the Prophet [SAW] wearing two garments dyed with safflower. The Prophet [SAW] got angry and said: "Go and take them off." He said: "Where should I throw them, O Messenger of Allah?" He said: "In the fire." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 5317)
أَنَّهُ أَتَى النَّبِيَّ ﷺ وَعَلَيْهِ ثَوْبَانِ مُعَصْفَرَانِ فَغَضِبَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ وَقَالَ «اذْهَبْ فَاطْرَحْهُمَا عَنْكَ» قَالَ أَيْنَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ؟ قَالَ «فِي النَّارِ»
"She is his wife in the world and in the Hereafter." - meaning: 'Aishah [may Allah be pleased with her]. (Using translation from Tirmidhī 3889)
عَنْ عَلِيٍّ
[Machine] "Ali narrated that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade us from wearing gold rings and reciting the Quran while bowing, and from wearing silk garments. He further added a fourth prohibition regarding this matter. Regarding this issue, Naafi' reported that Muadh ibn Jabal disagreed with him. Ibrahim ibn Abdullah ibn Hunain narrated this from one of the followers of Abbas."
عَنْ عَلِيٍّ مِثْلَ نَهَانِي رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَلَا أَقُولُ نَهَاكُمْ عَنْ تَخَتُّمِ الذَّهَبِ وَقِرَاءَةِ الْقُرْآنِ وَأَنَا رَاكِعٌ وَلُبْسِ الْقَسِّيِّ وَزَادَ فِيهِ الرَّابِعَةَ وَعَنِ الْمُعَصْفَرِ الْمُفَدَّمِ خَالَفَهُ نَافِعٌ رَوَاهُ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ حُنَيْنٍ عَنْ بَعْضِ مَوَالِي الْعَبَّاسِ
[Machine] "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ prohibited the use of yellow dye, coarse clothing, and reciting the Quran while in the state of rukoo (bowing). Al-Zuhri contradicted this and narrated it from Ibrahim ibn Abdullah ibn Hunayn, from his father, from Ali."
«أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ نَهَى عَنِ الْمُعَصْفَرِ وَالثِّيَابِ الْقَسِّيَّةِ وَعَنْ أَنْ يَقْرَأَ الْقُرْآنَ وَهُوَ رَاكِعٌ» [420] خَالَفَهُ الزُّهْرِيُّ رَوَاهُ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ حُنَيْنٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ عَلِيٍّ
"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ prohibited wearing Al-Qassi and what was dyed with 'Usfur." (Using translation from Tirmidhī 1725)
«نَهَانِي رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ عَنْ لِبَاسِ الْمُعَصْفَرَةِ»
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ prohibited me from three things: wearing gold rings, wearing saffron-dyed garments, and reciting Quran during Ruku (bowing in prayer). Isma'il ibn Ja'far contradicted this narration, which was reported from Shurayk, who heard it from Abdullah ibn Hunayn.
نَهَانِي رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ عَنْ ثَلَاثٍ عَنْ تَخَتُّمِ الذَّهَبِ وَعَنْ لُبْسِ الْمُعَصْفَرِ وَعَنِ الْقِرَاءَةِ فِي الرُّكُوعِ خَالَفَهُ إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ رَوَاهُ عَنْ شَرِيكٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ حُنَيْنٍ
"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade me from wearing Al-Qassi, and clothes dyed from safflower, and from wearing gold rings, and from reciting Qura'n while bowing." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 1044)
«نَهَانِي رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ عَنْ تَخَتُّمِ الذَّهَبِ وَعَنْ لُبْسِ الْمُعَصْفَرَةِ وَعَنِ الْقِرَاءَةِ وَأَنَا رَاكِعٌ»
[Machine] That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to send his garments, his shirt, his cloak, and his loin cloth to some of his family members, and he loved them the most who would fill them with saffron.
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ كَانَ يُرْسِلُ ثِيَابَهُ قَمِيصَهُ وَرِدَاءَهُ وَإِزَارَهُ إِلَى بَعْضِ أَهْلِهِ فَأَحَبُّهُمْ إِلَيْهِ الَّذِي يُشْبِعُهَا بِزَعْفَرَانٍ
52.92 [Machine] Wearing green clothes
٥٢۔٩٢ لُبْسُ الثِّيَابِ الْخُضْرِ
"The Messenger of Allah [SAW] came out to us wearing two green garments." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 5319)
«خَرَجَ عَلَيْنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَعَلَيْهِ ثَوْبَانِ أَخْضَرَانِ»
52.93 [Machine] Al-Buroodu
٥٢۔٩٣ الْبُرُودُ
"We complained to the Messenger of Allah [SAW] when he was reclining on his rolled-up Burdah in the shade of the Ka'bah. We said: 'Will you not pray for victory for us, will you not pray to Allah for us?'" (Using translation from Nasāʾī 5320)
شَكَوْنَا إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ وَهُوَ مُتَوَسِّدٌ بُرْدَةً لَهُ فِي ظِلِّ الْكَعْبَةِ فَقُلْنَا أَلَا تَسْتَنْصِرُ لَنَا أَلَا تَدْعُو اللهَ لَنَا؟
I heard Sahl bin Saʿd saying, "A woman brought a Burda (i.e. a square piece of cloth having edging). I asked, 'Do you know what a Burda is?' They replied in the affirmative and said, "It is a cloth sheet with woven margins." Sahl went on, "She addressed the Prophet ﷺ and said, 'I have woven it with my hands for you to wear.' The Prophet ﷺ took it as he was in need of it, and came to us wearing it as a waist sheet. One of us said, 'O Messenger of Allah ﷺ! Give it to me to wear.' The Prophet ﷺ agreed to give it to him. The Prophet ﷺ sat with the people for a while and then returned (home), wrapped that waist sheet and sent it to him. The people said to that man, 'You haven't done well by asking him for it when you know that he never turns down anybody's request.' The man replied, 'By Allah, I have not asked him for it except to use it as my shroud when I die." Sahl added; "Later it (i.e. that sheet) was his shroud." (Using translation from Bukhārī 2093)
سَهْلٌ هَلْ تَدْرُونَ مَا الْبُرْدَةُ؟ قُلْنَا نَعَمْ هَذِهِ الشَّمْلَةُ مَنْسُوجٌ فِي حَاشِيَتِهَا فَقَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنِّي نَسَجْتُ هَذِهِ بِيَدِي أَكْسُوكَهَا فَأَخَذَهَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مُحْتَاجًا إِلَيْهَا فَخَرَجَ إِلَيْنَا وَإِنَّهَا لَإِزَارُهُ فَجَسَّهَا رَجُلٌ مِنَ الْقَوْمِ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ اكْسُنِيهَا قَالَ «نَعَمْ» فَجَلَسَ مَا شَاءَ اللهُ فِي الْمَجْلِسِ ثُمَّ رَجَعَ فَطَوَاهَا ثُمَّ أَرْسَلَ بِهَا إِلَيْهِ فَقَالَ لَهُ الْقَوْمُ مَا أَحْسَنْتَ سَأَلْتَهَا إِيَّاهُ وَقَدْ عَرَفْتَ أَنَّهُ لَا يَرُدُّ سَائِلًا فَقَالَ الرَّجُلُ وَاللهِ مَا سَأَلْتُهَا إِلَّا لِتَكُونَ كَفَنِي يَوْمَ أَمُوتُ قَالَ سَهْلٌ فَكَانَتْ كَفَنَهُ
[Machine] I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ while he was leaning on a red pillow in the mosque.
«أَتَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ وَهُوَ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ مُتَّكِئٌ عَلَى بُرْدٍ لَهُ أَحْمَرٍ»
[Machine] "It (the Prophet) was given a black cloak, so he mentioned its blackness and whiteness and wore it. When he sweated, he found the smell of wool, so he threw it away. He used to like good fragrance. Hisham al-Dustuwai was sent for it."
أَنَّهَا جَعَلَتْ لِلنَّبِيِّ ﷺ بُرْدَةً سَوْدَاءَ فَذَكَرَ سَوَادَهَا وَبَيَاضَهُ فَلَبِسَهَا فَلَمَّا عَرِقَ فَوَجَدَ رِيحَ الصُّوفِ قَذَفَهَا وَكَانَ يُحِبُّ الرِّيحَ الطِّيبَ أَرْسَلَهُ هِشَامٌ الدَّسْتُوَائِيُّ
[Machine] "The Prophet of Allah ﷺ wore a black cloak, and he made its blackness appear whiter and its whiteness appear black. He perspired and found the smell of wool, so he threw it away."
أَنَّ نَبِيَّ اللهِ ﷺ اتَّزَرَ بِبُرْدَةٍ سَوْدَاءَ فَجَعَلَ سَوَادَهَا يَشُبُّ بَيَاضَهُ وَجَعَلَ بَيَاضَهُ يَشُبُّ سَوَادَهَا فَعَرِقَ فَوَجَدَ رِيحَ الصُّوفِ فَأَلْقَاهَا
52.94 [Machine] Attire of the Monks
٥٢۔٩٤ لُبْسُ الْأَقْبِيَةِ
Messenger of Allah ﷺ distributed some cloaks but did not give anything thereof to Makhrama. Makhrama said (to me), "O son! accompany me to Messenger of Allah ﷺ." When I went with him, he said, "Call him to me." I called him (i.e. the Prophet ﷺ ) for my father. He came out wearing one of those cloaks and said, "We kept this (cloak) for you, (Makhrama)." Makhrama looked at the cloak and said, "Makhrama is pleased," (or the Prophet ﷺ said), "Is Makhrama pleased?" (Using translation from Bukhārī 2599)
قَسَمَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَقْبِيَةً وَلَمْ يُعْطِ مَخْرَمَةَ شَيْئًا فَقَالَ مَخْرَمَةُ يَا بُنَيَّ انْطَلِقْ بِنَا إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَانْطَلَقْتُ مَعَهُ قَالَ «ادْخُلْ فَادْعُهُ لِي» قَالَ فَدَعَوْتُهُ فَخَرَجَ إِلَيْهِ وَعَلَيْهِ قَبَاءٌ مِنْهَا فَقَالَ «خَبَّأْتُ هَذَا لَكَ» قَالَ فَنَظَرَ إِلَيْهِ قَالَ رَضِيَ مَخْرَمَةُ
52.95 [Machine] Wearing the woollen jalabiya during travel.
٥٢۔٩٥ لُبْسُ الْجِبَابِ الصُّوفِ فِي السَّفَرِ
Once I was traveling with the Prophet ﷺ and he said, "O Mughira! take this container of water." I took it and Messenger of Allah ﷺ went far away till he disappeared. He answered the call of nature and was wearing a Syrian cloak. He tried to take out his hands from its sleeve but it was very tight so he took out his hands from under it. I poured water and he performed ablution like that for prayers and passed his wet hands over his Khuff (socks made from thick fabric or leather) and then prayed . (Using translation from Bukhārī 363)
كُنْتُ مَعَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فِي سَفَرٍ فَقَالَ «يَا مُغِيرَةُ خُذِ الْإِدَاوَةَ فَأَخَذْتُهَا فَانْطَلَقَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ حَتَّى تَوَارَى عَنِّي فَقَضَى حَاجَتَهُ وَعَلَيْهِ جُبَّةٌ شَامِيَّةٌ مِنْ صُوفٍ فَذَهَبَ يُخْرِجُ يَدَهُ مِنْ كُمِّهَا فَضَاقَتْ فَأَخْرَجَ يَدَهُ مِنْ أَسْفَلِهَا فَصَبَبْتُ عَلَيْهِ فَتَوَضَّأَ وُضُوءَهُ لِلصَّلَاةِ وَمَسَحَ عَلَى خُفَّيْهِ ثُمَّ صَلَّى»

٥٢۔٩٦ لُبْسُ الْقَمِيصِ
[Machine] When Abdullah bin Ubayy ibn Salul died, his son came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, "O Messenger of Allah, if you do not attend his funeral, he will continue to be defamed." So the Prophet ﷺ went and found him already buried. He said, "Shouldn't you have informed me before burying him?" Then he ordered for him to be taken out of his grave and he spat on him from his mouth to his feet and clothed him with his own shirt.
لَمَّا مَاتَ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أُبَيٍّ ابْنُ سَلُولٍ أَتَى ابْنُهُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّكَ إِنْ لَمْ تَأْتِهِ لَمْ يَزَلْ يُعَيَّرْ بِهَا فَأَتَاهُ فَوَجَدَهُ قَدْ أَدْخَلُوهُ حُفْرَتَهُ فَقَالَ «أَلَا قَبْلَ أَنْ تُدْخِلُوهُ» ثُمَّ أُخْرِجَ مِنْ حُفْرَتِهِ فَتَفَلَ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ قَرْنِهِ إِلَى قَدَمِهِ وَأَلْبَسَهُ قَمِيصَهُ
«كَانَ يَدُ كُمِّ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ إِلَى الرُّصْغِ»
[Machine] He was the Messenger of Allah ﷺ to the Byzantines.
«كَانَ كُمُّ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ إِلَى الرُّصْغِ»

٥٢۔٩٧ السَّرَاوِيلُ
"Makhrafah Al-Abdi and I brought some cloth from Hajar, and the Messenger of Allah came to us while we were in Mina where there w a man who weighed (goods) in return for payment. He bought some trousers from us, and said to the man who weighed: 'Weigh it, and allow more."' (Using translation from Nasāʾī 4592)
جَلَبْتُ أَنَا وَمَخْرَفَةُ الْعَبْدِيُّ بَزًّا مِنْ هَجَرَ فَأَتَانَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَنَحْنُ بِمِنًى وَوَزَّانٌ يَزِنُ بِالْأَجْرِ فَاشْتَرَى مِنَّا سَرَاويِلَ فَقَالَ لِلْوَزَّانِ «زِنْ وَأَرْجِحْ»
[Machine] I heard Abu Sufyan saying, "I sent a man from the Messenger of Allah Muhammad ﷺ with three dirhams before the migration, and he weighed it for me and gave me extra."
سَمِعْتُ أَبَا صَفْوَانَ يَقُولُ «بِعْتُ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ رِجْلًا مِنْ سَرَاوِيلَ قَبْلَ الْهِجْرَةِ بِثَلَاثَةِ دَرَاهِمَ فَوَزَنَ لِي فَأَرْجَحَ لِي»
"I heard Malik Abu Safwan bin 'Umairah, say: 'I bought a pair of trousers from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ before the Hijrah, and he weighed it for me and allowed more."' (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 2221)
«بِعْتُ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ رِجْلَ سَرَاوِيلَ قَبْلَ الْهِجْرَةِ فَأَرْجَحَ لِي»
[Machine] I heard Malik ibn Abi Safwan saying, "I came to Mecca and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was there, and he bought trousers from me, and he weighed and balanced it."
سَمِعْتُ مَالِكًا أَبَا صَفْوَانَ يَقُولُ «أَتَيْتُ مَكَّةَ وَرَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ بِهَا فَاشْتَرَى مِنِّي رِجْلَ سَرَاوِيلَ فَوَزَنَ فَأَرْجَحَ»

The Prophet ﷺ said, "While a man was walking, dragging his dress with pride, he was caused to be swallowed by the earth and will go on sinking in it till the Day of Resurrection." (Using translation from Bukhārī 3485)
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «بَيْنَا رَجُلٌ يَجُرُّ إِزَارَهُ مِنَ الْخُيَلَاءِ خُسِفَ بِهِ فَهُوَ يَتَجَلْجَلُ فِي الْأَرْضِ إِلَى يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ»
