٥٢۔ كِتَابُ الزِّينَةِ ص ٤
That when Mu'awiyah went on Hajj, he gathered together a group of the Companions of the Messenger of Allah [SAW] at the Ka'bah and said to them: "I adjure you by Allah, did the Messenger of Allah [SAW] forbid wearing gold?" They said: "Yes." He said: "And I bear witness to that." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 5154)
أَنَّ مُعَاوِيَةَ عَامَ حَجَّ جَمَعَ نَفَرًا مِنْ أَصْحَابِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فِي الْكَعْبَةِ فَقَالَ «أَنْشُدُكُمْ بِاللهِ هَلْ نَهَى رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ عَنْ لُبُوسِ الذَّهَبِ؟» قَالُوا نَعَمْ قَالَ «وَأَنَا أَشْهَدُ» خَالَفَهُ الْأَوْزَاعِيُّ عَلَى اخْتِلَافٍ مِنْ أَصْحَابِهِ عَلَيْهِ

[Machine] "Did you not hear the Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbid gold?" They said: "O Allah, yes." He said: "And I bear witness."
«أَلَمْ تَسْمَعُوا رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَنْهَى عَنِ الذَّهَبِ؟» قَالُوا اللهُمَّ نَعَمْ قَالَ «وَأَنَا أَشْهَدُ»
[Machine] "I remind you by Allah, have you not heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbidding gold?" They said, "O Allah, yes." He said, "And I testify." An-Nasa'i told us, Qatadah, the one who reports from Yahya bin Abi Kathir, and his narration is more correct, and Allah knows best.
«أَنْشُدُكُمْ بِاللهِ أَلَمْ تَسْمَعُوا رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَنْهَى عَنِ الذَّهَبِ؟» قَالُوا اللهُمَّ نَعَمْ قَالَ «وَأَنَا أَشْهَدُ» قَالَ لَنَا النَّسَائِيُّ قَتَادَةُ أَحْفَظُ مِنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ وَحَدِيثُهُ أَوْلَى بِالصَّوَابِ وَاللهُ أَعْلَمُ
"I heard Mu'awiyah say to a group of Muhajirun and Ansar who were around him: 'Do you know that the Messenger of Allah [SAW] forbade wearing silk?' They said: 'By Allah, yes.' He said 'And (he forbade) wearing gold unless it was broken (into smaller pieces)?' They said: 'Yes.'" 'Ali bin Ghurab contradicted him; he reported it from Bahais, from Abu Shaikh, from Ibn 'Umar. أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ نَهَى عَنْ لُبْسِ الْحَرِيرِ؟» قَالُوا اللهُمَّ نَعَمْ قَالَ «وَنَهَى عَنْ لُبْسِ الذَّهَبِ إِلَّا مُقَطَّعًا؟» قَالُوا نَعَمْ خَالَفَهُ عَلِيُّ بْنُ غُرَابٍ رَوَاهُ عَنْ بَيْهَسٍ عَنْ أَبِي شَيْخٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ
"I heard Ibn 'Umar say: 'The Messenger of Allah [SAW] forbade wearing gold unless it is broken (into smaller pieces).'" (Using translation from Nasāʾī 5160)
«نَهَى رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ عَنْ لُبْسِ الذَّهَبِ إِلَّا مُقَطَّعًا» قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ وَحَدِيثُ النَّضْرِ بْنِ شُمَيْلٍ أَشْبَهُ بِالصَّوَابِ وَاللهُ أَعْلَمُ
52.51 [Machine] Does someone who breaks their nose make it out of gold?
٥٢۔٥١ مَنْ أُصِيبَ أَنْفُهُ هَلْ يَتَّخِذُ أَنْفًا مِنْ ذَهَبٍ
His nose was cut off at the battle of Al-Kulab during the Jahiliyyah, so he wore a nose made of silver, but it began to rot, so the Prophet [SAW] told him to wear a nose made of gold. (Using translation from Nasāʾī 5161)
أَنَّهُ «أُصِيبَ أَنْفُهُ يَوْمَ الْكِلَابِ فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ فَاتَّخَذَ أَنْفًا مِنْ وَرِقٍ فَأَنْتَنَ عَلَيْهِ فَأَمَرَهُ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ أَنْ يَتَّخِذَ أَنْفًا مِنْ ذَهَبٍ»

حَدَّثَنِي أَنَّهُ رَأَى جَدَّهُ قَدْ أُصِيبَ أَنْفُهُ يَوْمَ الْكِلَابِ فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ قَالَ فَاتَّخَذَ أَنْفًا مِنْ فِضَّةٍ فَأَنْتَنَ عَلَيْهِ قَالَ فَأَمَرَهُ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ أَنْ يَتَّخِذَهُ مِنْ ذَهَبٍ

٥٢۔٥٢ الرُّخْصَةُ فِي خَاتَمِ الذَّهَبِ لِلرِّجَالِ
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Abu Abdur-Rahman said, 'This is a rejected (disliked) narration.'"
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ هَذَا حَدِيثٌ مُنْكَرٌ
52.53 [Machine] The gold ring
٥٢۔٥٣ خَاتَمُ الذَّهَبِ
"The Messenger of Allah [SAW] started to wear a gold ring, and the people started to wear gold rings. The Messenger of Allah [SAW] said: 'I was wearing this ring, but I will never wear it again.' He threw it away and the people threw their rings away.'" (Using translation from Nasāʾī 5164)
اتَّخَذَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ خَاتَمَ ذَهَبٍ فَلَبِسَهُ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَاتَّخَذَ النَّاسُ خَوَاتِمَ الذَّهَبِ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «إِنِّي كُنْتُ أَلْبِسُ هَذَا الْخَاتَمَ وَإِنِّي لَنْ أَلْبَسَهُ أَبَدًا» فَنَبَذَهُ فَنَبَذَ النَّاسُ خَوَاتِيمَهُمْ
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade me to wear rings of gold, to use red saddle pads, to wear garments made from a blend of linen and silk, and nabeedh made from barley. (Using translation from Aḥmad 1102)
قَالَ عَلِيٌّ «نَهَانِي النَّبِيُّ ﷺ عَنْ خَاتَمِ الذَّهَبِ وَعَنِ الْقَسِّيِّ وَعَنِ الْمِيثَرَةِ وَعَنِ الْجِعَةِ»
"The Prophet [SAW] forbade me to wear gold rings, and Al-Qassi, red Al-Miyathir." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 5166)
«نَهَى رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ عَنْ خَاتَمِ الذَّهَبِ وَعَنِ الْقَسِّيِّ وَعَنْ مَيَاثِرِ الْحُمْرِ»
"The Messenger of Allah [SAW] forbade gold rings, red Al-Miyathir, Qassiyah garments and Al-Ji'ah, which is a drink made from barley and wheat." - And he mentioned its strength. (Using translation from Nasāʾī 5167)
عَنْ هُبَيْرَةَ سَمِعَهُ مِنْ عَلِيٍّ يَقُولُ «نَهَى رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ عَنْ حَلْقَةِ الذَّهَبِ وَعَنِ الْمِيثَرَةِ الْحَمْرَاءِ وَعَنِ الثِّيَابِ الْقَسِّيَّةِ وَعَنِ الْجِعَةِ» شَرَابٌ يُصْنَعُ مِنَ الشَّعِيرِ وَالْحِنْطَةِ فَذَكَرَ مِنْ شِدَّتِهِ خَالَفَهُ عَمَّارُ بْنُ رُزَيْقٍ رَوَاهُ عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ عَنْ صَعْصَعَةَ عَنْ عَلِيٍّ
"The Messenger of Allah [SAW] forbade me (to wear) gold rings and Al-Qassi, Al-Mitharah, and Al-Ji'ah." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 5168)
«نَهَانِي رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ عَنْ حَلْقَةِ الذَّهَبِ وَالْقَسِّيِّ وَالْمِيثَرَةِ وَالْجِعَةِ» قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ وَالَّذِي قَبْلَهُ أَشْبَهُ بِالصَّوَابِ
"I said to 'Ali: 'Forbid to us that which the Messenger of Allah [SAW] forbade to you.' He said: 'He forbade me from Ad-Dubba', Al-Hantam, gold circles (rings), wearing silk, and Al-Qassi, and red Al-Mitharah.'" (Using translation from Nasāʾī 5169)
قُلْتُ لِعَلِيٍّ انْهَنَا عَمَّا نَهَاكَ عَنْهُ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «نَهَانِي عَنِ الدُّبَّاءِ وَالْحَنْتَمِ وَحَلْقَةِ الذَّهَبِ وَلُبْسِ الْحَرِيرِ وَالْقَسِّيِّ وَالْمِيثَرَةِ الْحَمْرَاءِ»
"Sa'sa'ah bin Suwhan came to 'Ali and said: 'Forbid to us from that which the Messenger of Allah [SAW] forbade to you.' He said: 'He forbade us from Ad-Dubba', Al-Hantam, An-Naqir, Al-Ji'ah, and he forbade us from gold circles (rings), wearing silk, and wearing Al-Qassi, and red Al-Mitharah.'" انْهَنَا عَمَّا نَهَاكَ عَنْهُ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «نَهَانَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ عَنِ الدُّبَّاءِ وَالْحَنْتَمِ وَالنَّقِيرِ وَالْجِعَةِ وَنَهَانَا عَنْ حَلْقَةِ الذَّهَبِ وَلُبْسِ الْحَرِيرِ وَلُبْسِ الْقَسِّيِّ وَالْمِيثَرَةِ الْحَمْرَاءِ»
"O Commander of the Believers! Forbid us from that which the Messenger of Allah [SAW] forbade you from." He said: "He forbade us from Ad-Dubba, Al-Hantam, Al-Ji'ah, and from gold circles (rings), and from wearing silk, and from red Al-Mitharah." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 5171)
قَالَ صَعْصَعَةُ بْنُ صُوحَانَ لِعَلِيٍّ يَا أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ انْهَنَا عَمَّا نَهَاكَ عَنْهُ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «نَهَانَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ عَنِ الدُّبَّاءِ وَالْحَنْتَمِ وَالْجِعَةِ وَعَنْ حِلَقِ الذَّهَبِ وَلُبْسِ الْحَرِيرِ وَالْمِيثَرَةِ الْحَمْرَاءِ» قَالَ لَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ وَحَدِيثُ مَرْوَانَ وَعَبْدُ الْوَاحِدِ أَوْلَى بِالصَّوَابِ مِنْ حَدِيثِ إِسْرَائِيلَ
52.54 [Machine] The Mention of the Differences between the Transmitters of the News of Abdullah Ibn Hunayn in the Gold Ring
٥٢۔٥٤ ذِكْرُ اخْتِلَافِ النَّاقِلِينَ لِخَبَرِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ حُنَيْنٍ فِي خَاتَمِ الذَّهَبِ
"She is his wife in the world and in the Hereafter." - meaning: 'Aishah [may Allah be pleased with her]. (Using translation from Tirmidhī 3889)
عَنْ عَلِيٍّ
[Machine] And about Al-Mu'asfirah and Al-Mafdamah, I do not read in prostration or in bowing. This was followed by Dahhak ibn Uthman.
وَعَنِ الْمُعَصْفَرِةِ وَالْمَفْدَمَةِ وَلَا أَقْرَأُ سَاجِدًا وَلَا رَاكِعًا تَابَعَهُ الضَّحَّاكُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ
"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade me-but I do not say he forbade you- from wearing gold rings, Al-Qassi, and from wearing Al-Mufaddam, and from wearing clothes dyed with safflower, and from reciting Qur'an when bowing." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 1042)
«نَهَانِي رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَلَا أَقُولُ نَهَاكُمْ عَنْ تَخَتُّمِ الذَّهَبِ وَعَنْ لُبْسِ الْقَسِّيِّ وَعَنْ لُبْسِ الْمُفْدَمِ وَالْمُعَصْفَرِ وَعَنِ الْقِرَاءَةِ رَاكِعًا» وَافَقَهُ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَجْلَانَ
[Machine] "The Prophet ﷺ prevented me from wearing a gold ring, and from reciting while I am in the Ruku' position, and from using al-qassiy perfume, and from using al-mu'asfar perfume. Az-Zuhri narrated it from Ibrahim, from his father, from Ali."
«نَهَانِي النَّبِيُّ ﷺ عَنْ خَاتَمِ الذَّهَبِ وَأَنْ أَقْرَأَ وَأَنَا رَاكِعٌ وَعَنِ الْقَسِّيِّ وَعَنِ الْمُعَصْفَرٍ» خَالَفَهُمُ الزُّهْرِيُّ رَوَاهُ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ عَلِيٍّ
Allah's Apostle ﷺ forbade me to recite the Qur'an while I am in ruku; and the wearing of gold and clothes dyed in saffron. (Using translation from Muslim 2078b)
أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ عَلِيًّا يَقُولُ «نَهَانِي رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ عَنِ الْقِرَاءَةِ وَأَنَا رَاكِعٌ وَعَنْ لُبْسِ الذَّهَبِ وَالْمُعَصْفَرِ» تَابَعَهُ يَزِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي حَبِيبٍ
"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade me from wearing gold rings, and Al-Qassi, and clothes dyed with safflower, and reciting Qur'an while I am bowing." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 1043)
أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ عَلِيًّا يَقُولُ «نَهَانِي رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ عَنْ خَاتَمِ الذَّهَبِ وَعَنْ لُبُوسِ الْقَسِّيِّ وَالْمُعَصْفَرِ وَقِرَاءَةِ الْقُرْآنِ وَأَنَا رَاكِعٌ» وَافَقَهُ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو
"I heard 'Ali say: 'The Messenger of Allah [SAW] forbade me- but I do not say that he forbade you- from wearing gold rings, Al-Qassi, and garments dyed with safflower, and reciting Qur'an while bowing.'" (Using translation from Nasāʾī 5175)
سَمِعْتُ عَلِيًّا يَقُولُ «نَهَانِي رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَلَا أَقُولُ نَهَاكُمْ عَنْ خَاتَمِ الذَّهَبِ وَعَنِ الْقَسِّيِّ وَالْمُعَصْفَرِ وَأَنْ أَقْرَأَ الْقُرْآنَ وَأَنَا رَاكِعٌ»
52.55 [Machine] The mention of disagreement regarding the efficacy in this narration.
٥٢۔٥٥ ذِكْرُ الِاخْتِلَافِ عَلَى نَافِعٍ فِي هَذَا الْحَدِيثِ
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade me from wearing rough clothing and saffron-colored clothing, and from wearing gold jewelry, and from reciting in the bowing position. He also said on another occasion that he forbade the recitation of the Quran in the bowing position. Zaid bin Waqid contradicted him, narrating from Nafi', who narrated from Ibrahim, who narrated from Ali.
نَهَانِي رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَقَالَ مَرَّةً أُخْرَى إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ نَهَى عَنْ لُبْسِ الْقَسِّيِّ وَالْمُعَصْفَرِ وَعَنْ تَخَتُّمِ الذَّهَبِ وَعَنِ الْقِرَاءَةِ فِي الرُّكُوعِ وَقَالَ مَرَّةً أُخْرَى وَعَنْ قِرَاءَةِ الْقُرْآنِ فِي الرُّكُوعِ خَالَفَهُ زَيْدُ بْنُ وَاقِدٍ رَوَاهُ عَنْ نَافِعٍ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ عَلِيٍّ
"The Messenger of Allah [SAW] forbade me from rings of gold, garments dyed with safflower, and wearing Al-Qassi, and from reciting Qur'an while bowing." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 5176)
«نَهَانِي رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ عَنْ تَخَتُّمِ الذَّهَبِ وَعَنِ الْمُعَصْفَرِ وَعَنْ لُبْسِ الْقَسِّيِّ وَعَنِ الْقِرَاءَةِ فِي الرُّكُوعِ» ذِكْرُ الِاخْتِلَافِ عَلَى عُبَيْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ
"The Messenger of Allah [SAW] forbade me from wearing Al-Qassi, garments dyed with safflower, and gold rings." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 5177)
«نَهَانِي رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ عَنْ لُبْسِ الْقَسِّيِّ وَالْمُعَصْفَرِ وَعَنِ التَّخَتُّمِ بِالذَّهَبِ»
"The Messenger of Allah [SAW] forbade me from four: Gold rings, wearing Al-Qassi, reciting Qur'an while I am bowing, and from wearing garments dyed with safflower." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 5178)
نَهَانِي رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ عَنْ أَرْبَعٍ عَنْ تَخَتُّمِ الذَّهَبِ وَعَنْ لُبْسِ الْقَسِّيِّ وَعَنْ قِرَاءَةِ الْقُرْآنِ وَأَنَا رَاكِعٌ وَعَنْ لُبْسِ الْمُعَصْفَرِ وَافَقَهُ أَيُّوبُ إِلَّا أَنَّهُ لَمْ يُسَمِّ الْمَوْلَى
"The Messenger of Allah [SAW] forbade me from wearing garments dyed with safflower, and from Al-Qassi, and from gold rings, and that I recite Qur'an while I am bowing." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 5179)
«نَهَانِي رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ عَنْ لُبْسِ الْمُعَصْفَرِ وَعَنْ لُبْسِ الْقَسِّيِّ وَالتَّخَتُّمِ بِالذَّهَبِ وَأَنْ أَقْرَأَ وَأَنَا رَاكِعٌ»

٥٢۔٥٦ ذِكْرُ الِاخْتِلَافِ عَلَى يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ
"The Messenger of Allah [SAW] forbade me (from wearing) garments dyed with safflower, and from gold rings, and from wearing Al-Qassi, and that I recite Qur'an while I am bowing." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 5180)
قَالَ «نَهَانِي رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ عَنْ ثِيَابِ الْمُعَصْفَرِ وَعَنْ خَاتَمِ الذَّهَبِ وَلُبْسِ الْقَسِّيِّ وَأَنْ أَقْرَأَ وَأَنَا رَاكِعٌ» خَالَفَهُ اللَّيْثُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ
[Machine] "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade wearing yellow garments, rough clothing, and reciting while in the position of ruku (bowing in prayer). Abu Ismail went against this prohibition, and he narrated it from Yahya, who narrated it from Muhammad ibn Ibrahim, who narrated it from Ibn Hunein."
«أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ نَهَى عَنِ الْمُعَصْفَرِ وَثِيَابِ الْقَسِّيَّةِ وَعَنْ أَنْ يَقْرَأَ وَهُوَ رَاكِعٌ» خَالَفَهُ أَبُو إِسْمَاعِيلَ رَوَاهُ عَنْ يَحْيَى عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنِ ابْنِ حُنَيْنٍ
"The Messenger of Allah [SAW] forbade me from four things: Wearing garments dyed with safflower, and from wearing gold rings, and from wearing Al-Qassiyah garments, and reciting Qur'an while I am bowing." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 5271)
أَنَّهُ قَالَ نَهَانِي رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ عَنْ أَرْبَعٍ عَنْ لُبْسِ ثَوْبٍ مُعَصْفَرٍ وَعَنِ التَّخَتُّمِ بِخَاتَمِ الذَّهَبِ وَعَنْ لُبْسِ الْقَسِّيَّةِ وَأَنْ أَقْرَأَ الْقُرْآنَ وَأَنَا رَاكِعٌ

٥٢۔٥٧ ذِكْرُ الِاخْتِلَافِ عَلَى شَيْبَانَ فِي هَذَا الْحَدِيثِ
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ prohibited saffron-colored clothing, silk, reciting Quran while bowing, and wearing gold rings. Abu Nu'aim contradicted him and narrated it from Shayban, from Yahya, from Ibn Hunayn, and did not mention Khalid. 9427 Ishaq ibn Mansur informed us, Abu Nu’aim said, Shayban narrated to us, from Yahya, from Ibn Hunayn, that Ali informed him similarly. Al-Awza'i sent him.
«إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ نَهَى عَنْ ثِيَابِ الْمُعَصْفَرِ وَعَنِ الْحَرِيرِ وَأَنْ يَقْرَأَ وَهُوَ رَاكِعٌ وَعَنْ خَاتَمِ الذَّهَبِ» خَالَفَهُ أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ رَوَاهُ عَنْ شَيْبَانَ عَنْ يَحْيَى عَنِ ابْنِ حُنَيْنٍ وَلَمْ يَذْكُرْ خَالِدًا 9427 أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا شَيْبَانُ عَنْ يَحْيَى عَنِ ابْنِ حُنَيْنٍ أَنَّ عَلِيًّا أَخْبَرَهُ نَحْوَهُ أَرْسَلَهُ الْأَوْزَاعِيُّ

[Machine] "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ prohibited the wearing of gold. Shu'bah contradicted him, narrating from Qatadah, who reported from Al-Nadr ibn Anas, who reported from Bashir ibn Nahik, who reported from Abu Hurairah."
«نَهَى رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ عَنْ تَخَتُّمِ الذَّهَبِ» خَالَفَهُ شُعْبَةُ رَوَاهُ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ عَنِ النَّضْرِ بْنِ أَنَسٍ عَنْ بَشِيرِ بْنِ نَهِيكٍ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ
[Machine] On the authority of the Prophet ﷺ , he prohibited the wearing of gold rings. Abu Abdur Rahman said that the narration of Shu'bah is more accurate than the narration of Al-Hajjaj bin Al-Hajjaj. Allah knows best.

٥٢۔٦٠ ذِكْرُ حَدِيثِ عِمْرَانَ بْنِ حَصِينٍ فِي خَاتَمِ الذَّهَبِ
"I bear witness that 'Imran narrated to us, he said: 'The Messenger of Allah [SAW] forbade wearing silk, and gold rings, and drinking from Al-Hanatim.'" (Using translation from Nasāʾī 5187)
أَنَّهُ حَدَّثَنَا قَالَ «نَهَانَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ عَنْ لُبْسِ الْحَرِيرِ وَعَنِ التَّخَتُّمِ بِالذَّهَبِ وَعَنِ الشُّرْبِ فِي الْحَنَاتِمِ»
A man came from Najran to the Messenger of Allah [SAW]. He was wearing a gold ring, and the Messenger of Allah [SAW] turned away from him, and said: "You have come to me with a coal of fire on your hand." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 5188)
أَنَّ رَجُلًا قَدِمَ مِنْ نَجْرَانَ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ وَعَلَيْهِ خَاتَمٌ مِنْ ذَهَبٍ فَأَعْرَضَ عَنْهُ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ «إِنَّكَ جِئْتَنِي وَفِي يَدِكَ جَمْرَةٌ مِنْ نَارٍ»
A man was sitting with the Prophet [SAW] and he was wearing a gold ring. The Messenger of Allah [SAW] had a stick in his hand and the Prophet [SAW] struck his finger. The man said: "What's wrong with me, O Messenger of Allah?" He said: "Why don't you get rid of this thing that is on your finger?" The man took it and threw it away. The Prophet [SAW] saw him after that and said: "What happened to the ring?" He said: "I threw it away." He said: "I did not tell you to do that, rather I told you to sell it and benefit from its price." This Hadith is Munkar. (Using translation from Nasāʾī 5189)
أَنَّ رَجُلًا كَانَ جَالِسًا عِنْدَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ وَعَلَيْهِ خَاتَمٌ مِنْ ذَهَبٍ وَفِي يَدِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ مَخْصَرَةٌ أَوْ جَرِيدَةٌ فَضَرَبَ بِهَا نَبِيُّ اللهِ ﷺ إِصْبَعَهُ فَقَالَ الرَّجُلُ مَا لِي يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ؟ قَالَ «أَلَا تَطْرَحُ هَذَا الَّذِي فِي إِصْبَعِكَ؟» فَأَخَذَ الرَّجُلُ فَرَمَى بِهِ فَرَآهُ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ فَقَالَ «مَا فَعَلَ الْخَاتَمُ؟» قَالَ رَمَيْتُ بِهِ قَالَ «مَا بِهَذَا أَمَرْتُكَ إِنَّمَا أَمَرْتُكَ أَنْ تَبِيعَهُ وَتَسْتَعِينَ بِثَمَنِهِ» قَالَ لَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ هَذَا حَدِيثٌ مُنْكَرٌ
[Machine] That the Prophet ﷺ saw a golden ring on his hand, so he started tapping it with a stick he had. When the Prophet ﷺ became distracted, he threw it away and said, "We only cause you pain and distract you." Yunus contradicted him and narrated it from Az-Zuhri, from Abu Idris, as a messenger, 9438 Ahmad bin Amr bin As-Sarh informed us, he said, Ibn Wahb informed me, he said, Yunus informed me, from Ibn Shihab, he said, Abu Idris Al-Khawlani informed me, that a man who met the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was wearing a golden ring, so Abu Abdur-Rahman said to us, "Yunus's Hadith is more accurate than Nu'man's Hadith, and Allah knows best." [375] 9439 Ahmad bin Ibrahim Al-Qurashi Al-Dimashqi, as a recitation, he said, Ibn A'idh informed us, he said, Yahya bin Hamza informed us, from Al-Awza'i, from Az-Zuhri, from Abu Idris Al-Khawlani, that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saw a man wearing a golden ring similar to his.
أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ أَبْصَرَ فِي يَدِهِ خَاتَمًا مِنْ ذَهَبٍ فَجَعَلَ يَقْرَعُهُ بِقَضِيبٍ مَعَهُ فَلَمَّا غَفَلَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ أَلْقَاهُ فَقَالَ «مَا أُرَانَا إِلَّا قَدْ أَوْجَعْنَاكَ وَأَغْرَمْنَاكَ» خَالَفَهُ يُونُسُ رَوَاهُ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي إِدْرِيسَ مُرْسَلًا 9438 أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَمْرِو بْنِ السَّرْحِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي يُونُسُ عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو إِدْرِيسَ الْخَوْلَانِيُّ أَنَّ رَجُلًا مِمَّنْ أَدْرَكَ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ لَبِسَ خَاتَمًا مِنْ ذَهَبٍ نَحْوَهُ قَالَ لَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ وَحَدِيثُ يُونُسَ أَوْلَى بِالصَّوَابِ مِنْ حَدِيثِ النُّعْمَانِ وَاللهُ أَعْلَمُ [375] 9439 أَحْمَدُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الْقُرَشِيُّ الدِّمَشْقِيُّ قِرَاءَةً قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ عَائِذٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ حَمْزَةَ عَنِ الْأَوْزَاعِيِّ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي إِدْرِيسَ الْخَوْلَانِيِّ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ رَأَى عَلَى رَجُلٍ خَاتَمًا مِنْ ذَهَبٍ نَحْوَهُ
[Machine] "The Prophet ﷺ saw a man wearing a gold ring on his hand, so he struck his finger with a stick that he had, and then threw it away. Abu Bakr Ahmad ibn Ali al-Marwazi informed me, he said: Al-Warkani informed us, he said: Ibrahim ibn Saad narrated to us from Ibn Shihab, that the Prophet ﷺ said: 'Abu Abdur-Rahman, and this messenger is most deserving of being correct'."
«أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ رَأَى فِي يَدِ رَجُلٍ خَاتَمًا مِنْ ذَهَبٍ فَضَرَبَ إِصْبَعَهُ بِقَضِيبٍ كَانَ مَعَهُ حَتَّى رَمَى بِهِ» 9441 أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو بَكْرٍ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الْمَرْوَزِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا الْوَرْكَانِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ مُرْسَلٌ قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ وَهَذَا الْمُرْسَلُ أَوْلَى بِالصَّوَابِ

٥٢۔٦١ مِقْدَارُ مَا يُجْعَلُ فِي الْخَاتَمِ مِنَ الْفِضَّةِ
A man came to the Prophet ﷺ and he was wearing a signet-ring of yellow copper. He said to him: How is it that I notice the odour of idols in you? So he threw it away, and came wearing an iron signet ring. He (the Prophet) said: What is it that I see you wearing the adornment of the inhabitants of Hell? So he threw it away. He asked: Messenger of Allah, what material I must use? He said: Make it of silver, but do not weigh it as much as a mithqal, The narrator Muhammad did not say: " 'Abd Allah b. Muslim," and al-Hasan did not say: "al-Sulami al-Marwazi." (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 4223)
أَنَّ رَجُلًا جَاءَ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ وَعَلَيْهِ خَاتَمٌ مِنْ حَدِيدٍ فَقَالَ «مَا لِي أَرَى عَلَيْكَ حِلْيَةَ أَهْلِ النَّارِ؟» فَطَرَحَهُ ثُمَّ جَاءَهُ وَعَلَيْهِ خَاتَمٌ مِنْ شَبَهٍ فَقَالَ «مَا لِي أَجِدُ مِنْكَ رِيحَ الْأَصْنَامِ؟» فَطَرَحَهُ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ مِنْ أَيِّ شَيْءٍ أَتَّخِذُهُ؟ قَالَ «اتَّخِذْهُ مِنْ وَرِقٍ وَلَا تُتِمَّهُ مِثْقَالًا» قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ هَذَا حَدِيثٌ مُنْكَرٌ

٥٢۔٦٢ صِفَةُ خَاتَمِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ وَنَقْشُهُ
"The inscription on the ring of the Messenger of Allah [SAW] was: Muhammad Rasul Allah (Muhammad the Messenger of Allah).'" (Using translation from Nasāʾī 5276)
كَانَ نَقْشُ خَاتَمِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ مُحَمَّدٌ رَسُولُ اللهِ
"The Messenger of Allah [SAW] said: 'We have had a ring made with an inscription, and no one else should copy this inscription.'" (Using translation from Nasāʾī 5281)
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «قَدِ اصْطَنَعْنَا خَاتَمًا وَنَقَشْنَا عَلَيْهِ نَقْشًا فَلَا يَنْقُشْ عَلَيْهِ أَحَدٌ»
The Prophet [SAW] had a ring and he said: "We have had a ring made with an inscription, and no one else should copy this inscription." It is as if I can see its shining on the little finer of the Messenger of Allah [SAW]. (Using translation from Nasāʾī 5282)
أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ اصْطَنَعَ خَاتَمًا فَقَالَ «إِنَّا قَدِ اتَّخَذْنَا خَاتَمًا وَنَقَشْنَا عَلَيْهِ نَقْشًا فَلَا يَنْقُشْ عَلَيْهِ أَحَدٌ فإِنِّي لَأَرَى بَرِيقَهُ فِي خِنْصَرِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ»
