That when Mu'awiyah went on Hajj, he gathered together a group of the Companions of the Messenger of Allah [SAW] at the Ka'bah and said to them: "I adjure you by Allah, did the Messenger of Allah [SAW] forbid wearing gold?" They said: "Yes." He said: "And I bear witness to that."

أَنَّ مُعَاوِيَةَ عَامَ حَجَّ جَمَعَ نَفَرًا مِنْ أَصْحَابِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فِي الْكَعْبَةِ فَقَالَ لَهُمْ أَنْشُدُكُمُ اللَّهَ أَنَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ عَنْ لُبْسِ الذَّهَبِ قَالُوا نَعَمْ قَالَ وَأَنَا أَشْهَدُ خَالَفَهُ حَرْبُ بْنُ شَدَّادٍ رَوَاهُ عَنْ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَبِي شَيْخٍ عَنْ أَخِيهِ حِمَّانَ

That when Mu'awiyah went on Hajj, he gathered together a group of the Companions of the Messenger of Allah [SAW] at the Ka'bah and said to them: "I adjure you by Allah, did the Messenger of Allah [SAW] forbid wearing gold?" They said: "Yes." He said: "And I bear witness to that."

"Mu'awiyah went on Hajj and he called a group of Ansar to the Ka'bah. He said: 'I adjure you by Allah, did you hear the Messenger of Allah [SAW] forbid gold?' They said: 'Yes.' He said: 'And I bear witness to that.'"

[AI] Muawiyah performed Hajj and called a group of Ansar in the Kaaba, then he said, "I swear to Allah, didn't you hear the Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbid gold?" They said, "Yes, O Allah, we did." He said, "And I bear witness, didn't you hear that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade the rows of leopards?" They said, "Yes, O Allah, we did." He said, "And I bear witness, didn't you hear that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade silk?" They said, "Yes, O Allah, we did." He said, "And I bear witness."

حَجَّ مُعَاوِيَةُ فَدَعَا نَفَرًا مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ فِي الْكَعْبَةِ فَقَالَ «أَنْشُدُكُمُ اللهَ أَلَمْ تَسْمَعُوا رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ نَهَى عَنِ الذَّهَبِ؟» قَالُوا اللهُمَّ نَعَمْ قَالَ «وَأَنَا أَشْهَدُ أَلَمْ تَسْمَعُوا أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ نَهَى عَنْ صُفَفِ النُّمُورِ؟» قَالُوا نَعَمْ قَالَ «وَأَنَا أَشْهَدُ أَلَمْ تَسْمَعُوا أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ نَهَى عَنِ الْحَرِيرِ؟» قَالُوا اللهُمَّ نَعَمْ قَالَ «وَأَنَا أَشْهَدُ»

«أَنْشُدُكُمْ بِاللهِ أَلَمْ تَسْمَعُوا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ نَهَى عَنِ الذَّهَبِ؟» قَالُوا اللهُمَّ نَعَمْ قَالَ «وَأَنَا أَشْهَدُ»

«أَنْشُدُكُمْ بِاللهِ أَلَمْ تَسْمَعُوا رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَنْهَى عَنِ الذَّهَبِ؟» قَالُوا اللهُمَّ نَعَمْ قَالَ «وَأَنَا أَشْهَدُ»

[AI] "I remind you by Allah, have you not heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbidding gold?" They said, "O Allah, yes." He said, "And I testify." An-Nasa'i told us, Qatadah, the one who reports from Yahya bin Abi Kathir, and his narration is more correct, and Allah knows best.

«أَنْشُدُكُمْ بِاللهِ أَلَمْ تَسْمَعُوا رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَنْهَى عَنِ الذَّهَبِ؟» قَالُوا اللهُمَّ نَعَمْ قَالَ «وَأَنَا أَشْهَدُ» قَالَ لَنَا النَّسَائِيُّ قَتَادَةُ أَحْفَظُ مِنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ وَحَدِيثُهُ أَوْلَى بِالصَّوَابِ وَاللهُ أَعْلَمُ

[AI] I ask you by Allah, have you not heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbidding the wearing of silk garments? They said, "Yes, O Allah." He said, "And I bear witness that Umara bin Bashir contradicted it, who narrated it from Al-Awza'i, from Yahya, from Abu Ishaq, from Himaan."

أَنْشُدُكُمُ اللهَ أَلَمْ تَسْمَعُوا رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَنْهَى عَنْ ثِيَابِ الْحَرِيرِ؟ قَالُوا اللهُمَّ نَعَمْ قَالَ وَأَنَا أَشْهَدُ خَالَفَهُ عُمَارَةُ بْنُ بِشْرٍ رَوَاهُ عَنِ الْأَوْزَاعِيِّ عَنْ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ عَنْ حِمَّانَ

[AI] that Muawiyah was performing Hajj and gathered a group of the companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in the Kaaba. He asked them, "I swear by Allah, did the Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbid the formation of rows like tigers?" They replied, "Yes." He said, "And I bear witness."

أَنَّ مُعَاوِيَةَ عَامَ حَجَّ جَمَعَ نَفَرًا مِنْ أَصْحَابِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فِي الْكَعْبَةِ فَقَالَ لَهُمْ «نَشَدْتُكُمْ بِاللهِ هَلْ نَهَى رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ عَنْ صَفَفِ النُّمُورِ؟» قَالُوا نَعَمْ قَالَ وَأَنَا أَشْهَدُ

[AI] That Muawiyah performed Hajj and gathered a group of the companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in the Kaaba. He then said, "I ask you by Allah, did the Messenger of Allah ﷺ prohibit the formation of rows (in prayer) resembling the rows of leopards?" They replied, "Yes." He said, "And I bear witness."

أَنَّ مُعَاوِيَةَ عَامَ حَجَّ جَمَعَ نَفَرًا مِنْ أَصْحَابِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فِي الْكَعْبَةِ فَقَالَ «أَنْشُدُكُمْ بِاللهِ هَلْ نَهَى رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ عَنْ صَفَفِ النُّمُورِ؟» قَالُوا «نَعَمْ» قَالَ «وَأَنَا أَشْهَدُ»

[AI] "I ask you by Allah, have you not heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbid line formation like that of the spotted leopards?" They said: "O Allah, yes." He said: "And I too bear witness."

«أَنْشُدُكُمْ بِاللهِ أَلَمْ تَسْمَعُوا رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ نَهَى عَنْ صَفَفِ النُّمُورِ؟» قَالُوا «اللهُمَّ نَعَمْ» قَالَ «وَأَنَا أَشْهَدُ»

[AI] "I remind you by Allah, did you not hear the Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbidding the formation of rows (like the rows of animals)?" They said, "Yes, Allah's Messenger." He said, "And I also bear witness."

«أَنْشُدُكُمْ بِاللهِ أَلَمْ تَسْمَعُوا رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَنْهَى عَنْ صَفَفِ النُّمُورِ؟» قَالُوا «اللهُمَّ نَعَمْ» قَالَ «وَأَنَا أَشْهَدُ»

[AI] I ask you by Allah, have you not heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbidding the ranks of the leopards? They replied, "Yes, O Allah's Messenger!" He said, "And I also bear witness."

أَنْشُدُكُمُ اللهَ أَلَمْ تَسْمَعُوا رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَنْهَى عَنْ صَفَفِ النُّمُورِ؟ قَالُوا «اللهُمَّ نَعَمْ» قَالَ «وَأَنَا أَشْهَدُ»

[AI] "That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbids lining up in rows of wild animals?" They said, "Yes, O Allah!" He said, "And I bear witness."

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَنْهَى عَنْ صَفَفِ النُّمُورِ؟» قَالُوا «اللهُمَّ نَعَمْ» قَالَ «وَأَنَا أَشْهَدُ»
