[Machine] Mujahid saw a peacock in his dream, as if he was praying in the Kaaba, and the Prophet ﷺ was at the door of the Kaaba. He said to him, "O Abdullah, remove your mask and show your recitation." He said, "So it seemed that he understood this as a sign that he expanded in the conversation afterward."
[Machine] "The world is cursed, cursed except for a person who learns good or teaches it."
People are ˹of two types˺: the scholar and the student, and between that is ignorance, with no goodness in it.
[Machine] They used to say, "The death of a scholar is a gap in Islam that cannot be filled. No matter the difference between night and day,".
[Machine] "A gathering in which knowledge is disputed is more beloved to me than the amount of salah (prayer) I can perform. Perhaps someone will hear a word and benefit from it for a year or for the rest of their life."
[Machine] Sufyan said, "I do not know of a better action than seeking knowledge and preserving it for those whom Allah wishes good for."
[Machine] And (he) said, Hasan ibn Salih said, "Indeed, people are in need of this knowledge in their religion, as they are in need of food and drink in their worldly life."
[Machine] Abu Darda said, "Learn before knowledge is taken away, because the taking away of knowledge is the taking away of scholars. And the scholar and the learner are equal in reward."
[Machine] About Dahhak, he said, "But be scholars of the divine law because of what you have been teaching from the scripture." [Al-Imran 79]. He said, "It is obligatory upon everyone who reads the Qur'an to be knowledgeable."
[Machine] About Al-Hasan, if it weren't for the religious scholars and the scribes prohibiting them [the people], Al-Hasan said, "The wise scholars."
[Machine] Sa'id ibn Jubayr said, "{Be devoutly obedient to Allah}" [Surah Al-Imran 79]. He further stated, "Scholars of jurisprudence."
[Machine] I heard Sufyan ibn 'Uyaynah say, "Knowledge requires preservation, action, listening, attentiveness, and dissemination."
[Machine] "The most ignorant of people are those who abandon what they know, and the most knowledgeable of people are those who act upon what they know, and the best of people are those who are most humble before Allah, the Almighty."
Obsession with worldly desires leaves one constantly anxious and unfulfilled
Those who are obsessed are never satisfied: (1) those who are obsessed with ˹sacred and salvific˺ knowledge are never satisfied with it, and (2) those who are obsessed with worldly possessions are never satisfied with them.
So, whoever makes the hereafter his concern, and devotes himself to it and focuses on it, Allah will take care of his worldly affairs, and He will put contentment in his heart. But whoever makes this world his concern, and devotes himself to it and focuses on it, Allah will expose his ruin, and He will make him ˹obsess over˺ his needs: such that he will not wake up except as a needy person, and he will not reach evening ˹while having pursued his needs˺ except as a needy person ˹anxious, feeling unfulfilled˺.
The one who possesses knowledge and the one who possesses worldly possessions are not equal, and both of them cannot be satisfied. As for the person of knowledge, their contentment with the Merciful (Allah) increases. But as for the person of the world, they indulge in transgression. Then Abdullah recited, "No! Indeed, man transgresses because he sees himself self-sufficient." (Quran, Surah Al-Alaq: 7) Someone else said, "Indeed, only the scholars fear Allah among His servants." (Quran, Surah Fatir: 28)
[Machine] They are both never satisfied, the student of knowledge and the student of worldly affairs.
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever seeks knowledge and attains it, will have a specific portion of reward. And if he does not attain it, he will have a portion of reward."
[Machine] "The Prophet Dawud (pbuh) used to say in his supplication, 'Glory be to You, O Allah, You are my Lord, the Most Exalted above Your Throne, and You have made Your awe upon everyone in the heavens and the earth, and Your closest creation to You is the one who fears You the most, and what knowledge does one have who does not fear You? And what wisdom does one have who does not obey Your command?'"
[Machine] "Abdullah bin Mas'ud said, 'Tomorrow, be either a scholar or a student, for there is no good in anything else.'"
“There will be tribulation in which a man will be a believer in the morning and a disbeliever by evening, except the one to whom Allah grants knowledge.” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 3954)
[Machine] "He used to say, 'Seek knowledge, whether you are a scholar or a student. Do not seek knowledge in between these two, for that is ignorance. Indeed, the angels spread their wings for the person seeking knowledge out of contentment with what they do.'"
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was asked about two men from the Children of Israel. One of them was a scholar who would pray the obligatory prayers and then sit and teach people goodness. The other would fast during the day and stand in prayer during the night. Which of them is better? The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The superiority of the scholar who prays the obligatory prayers and then sits teaching people goodness over the worshipper who fasts during the day and stands in prayer during the night is like my superiority over the most inferior among you."
[Machine] I entered the mosque and saw Al-Aswad bin Suray' narrating and Humaid bin Abdul Rahman mentioning knowledge in one corner of the mosque. So, I inclined towards which of them should I sit with. I felt sleepy, then someone approached me and said, "Towards which of them did you incline to sit? If you wish, I can show you the place where Gabriel ﷺ used to sit from Humaid bin Abdul Rahman."
"I was sitting with Abu Darda' in the mosque of Damascus when a man came to him and said: 'O Abu Darda', I have come to you from Al-Madinah, the city of the Messenger of Allah, for a Hadith which I have heard that you narrate from the Prophet.' He said: 'Did you not come for trade?' He said: 'No.' He said: 'Did you not come for anything else?' He said: 'No.' He said: 'I heard the Messenger of Allah say: "Whoever follows a path in the pursuit of knowledge, Allah will make easy for him a path to Paradise. The angels lower their wings in approval of the seeker of knowledge, and everyone in the heavens and on earth prays for forgiveness for the seeker of knowledge, even the fish in the sea. The superiority of the scholar over the worshipper is like the superiority of the moon above all other heavenly bodies. The scholars are the heirs of the Prophets, for the Prophets did not leave behind a Dinar or Dirham, rather they left behind knowledge, so whoever takes it has taken a great share.'" (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 223)
[Machine] "The teacher of goodness is forgiven by everything, even the whale in the sea."
If anyone pursues a path in search of knowledge, Allah will thereby make easy for him a path to paradise; and he who is made slow by his actions will not be speeded by his genealogy. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 3643)
[Machine] A man who traverses a road seeking knowledge, Allah will make it easy for him to reach Paradise through it. And whoever hinders his efforts, his lineage will not make him hasten.
[Machine] About rain, "And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember?" [Al-Qamar 17] He said, "Is there anyone who seeks goodness that I may guide him towards it?"
[Machine] Abu Darda used to say "Welcome to the students of knowledge" when he saw them, and he used to say, "Indeed, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ advised and encouraged you."
[Machine] "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ passed by two gatherings in his mosque and said, 'Both of them are good, and one of them is better than the other. As for these people, they supplicate to Allah and seek His blessings. If He wills, He grants their requests, and if He wills, He withholds them. As for these people, they learn jurisprudence and knowledge, and they teach the ignorant. They are the best, as I have been sent as a teacher.' Then he sat among them."
[Machine] He said to his son, "O my son, indeed knowledge is better than action."
[Machine] He heard Aba Abd al-Rahman al-Hubuli say, "There is no better gift than a word of wisdom that you give to your brother."
[Machine] "The superiority of a knowledgeable person over a diligent person is one hundred degrees, which is equivalent to five hundred years of the presence of an illuminated Persian stallion."
[Machine] Allah raises those who have been given knowledge above those who believe by degrees.
the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “When death comes while ones in seeking knowledge to revive Islam there is but one rank between him and the Prophets in Jannah.”
[Machine] "Umar's knowledge decreased by two thirds," I said to Ibrahim. He replied, "Umar's knowledge decreased by nine tenths."
[Machine] "Whenever a group of people gather in one of the houses of Allah to study and discuss the Book of Allah among themselves, the angels lower their wings in humility and tranquility. They encompass them with their wings until they are immersed in their discussions. If someone traverses a path seeking knowledge, Allah makes their path to Paradise easy. And those whose actions are slow in progressing, their lineage will not hasten them."
[Machine] "What brought you here?" I said, "The pursuit of knowledge." He said, "Should I not give you glad tidings?" I said, "Yes." So he raised the conversation to the Prophet, peace be upon him, and said, "Indeed, the angels lower their wings for the seeker of knowledge, pleased with what he seeks."
