Zaid b. Arqam used to utter four takbirs (Allah is Most Great) over our dead person (during prayer). He uttered five takbirs on a dead person. So I asked him. He replied: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to utter those. Abu Dawud said: I remember the tradition of Ibn al-Muthanna in a more guarded way.  

أبو داود:٣١٩٧ – حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْوَلِيدِ الطَّيَالِسِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ عَنْ شُعْبَةَ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مُرَّةَ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى قَالَ

كَانَ زَيْدٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ أَرْقَمَ يُكَبِّرُ عَلَى جَنَائِزِنَا أَرْبَعًا وَإِنَّهُ كَبَّرَ عَلَى جَنَازَةٍ خَمْسًا فَسَأَلْتُهُ فَقَالَ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ يُكَبِّرُهَا  

قَالَ أَبُو دَاوُدَ وَأَنَا لِحَدِيثِ ابْنِ الْمُثَنَّى أَتْقَنُ

وَقَالَ كَبَّرَهَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ

"Zaid bin Arqam would say four Takbir for our funerals. (Once) he said five Takbir for a funeral so we asked him about that and he said: 'The Messenger of Allah would say those Takbir.'"

"Messenger of Allah would say the Takhir while he was going down."

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ كَانَ يُكَبِّرُ وَهُوَ يَهْوِي

malik:9-79 – Mālik > Nāfiʿ > ʿAbdullāh b. ʿUmar

Yahya related to me from Malik from Nafi from Abdullah ibn Umar that when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to go to Quba (to pray), he would walk as well as ride.  

مالك:٩-٧٩ – وَحَدَّثَنِي عَنْ مَالِكٍ عَنْ نَافِعٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ كَانَ يَأْتِي قُبَاءً رَاكِبًا وَمَاشِيًا  

ahmad:19272 – Yaḥyá b. Saʿīd > Shuʿbah > ʿAmr b. Murrah > Ibn Abū Laylá

أحمد:١٩٢٧٢ – حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ شُعْبَةَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي عَمْرُو بْنُ مُرَّةَ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى أَنَّ زَيْدَ بْنَ أَرْقَمَ كَانَ يُكَبِّرُ عَلَى جَنَائِزِنَا أَرْبَعًا وَأَنَّهُ كَبَّرَ عَلَى جِنَازَةٍ خَمْسًا فَسَأَلُوهُ؟ فَقَالَ

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يُكَبِّرُهَا أَوْ كَبَّرَهَا النَّبِيُّ ﷺ  

ذِكْرُ الْإِبَاحَةِ لِلْمَرْءِ أَنْ يَزِيدَ فِي التَّكْبِيرَاتِ عَلَى الْجَنَائِزِ عَلَى مَا وَصَفْنَا

«كَبَّرَهَا أَوْ كَبَّرَهُنَّ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ»

الطبراني:٤٩٧٦ – حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ ثنا مُسْلِمُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ثنا شُعْبَةُ عَنِ الْحَكَمِ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى قَالَ «§صَلَّيْتُ خَلْفَ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَرْقَمَ عَلَى جَنَازَةٍ فَكَبَّرَ عَلَيْهَا أَرْبَعًا ثُمَّ صَلَّيْتُ خَلْفَهُ عَلَى أُخْرَى فَكَبَّرَ عَلَيْهَا خَمْسًا» فَسَأَلْتُهُ فَقَالَ

«كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يُكَبِّرُهَا»
