9. Book of Ṣalāh (1/30)
"I said: 'O Messenger of Allah! Which mosque was built first?' He said: 'Al-Masjid Al-Haram (in Makkah).' I said: 'Then which?' He said: 'then Al-Masjid Al-Aqsa (in Jerusalem).' I said: 'How many years between them?' He said: 'Forty years, but the whole earth is a mosque for you, so pray wherever you are when the time for prayer comes.'" (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 753)
[Machine] A man asked the Prophet PBUH, "Which places are the worst?" He replied, "I do not know until I ask Gabriel." So he asked Gabriel, who said, "I do not know until I ask Michael." Then he came back and said, "The best places are the mosques, and the worst places are the markets."
The parts of land dearest to Allah are its mosques, and the parts most hateful to Allah are markets. (Using translation from Muslim 671)
In the lifetime of Messenger of Allah ﷺ the mosque was built of adobes, its roof of the leaves of date-palms and its pillars of the stems of date-palms. Abu Bakr did not alter it. ʿUmar expanded it on the same pattern as it was in the lifetime of Messenger of Allah ﷺ by using adobes, leaves of date-palms and changing the pillars into wooden ones. ʿUthman changed it by expanding it to a great extent and built its walls with engraved stones and lime and made its pillars of engraved stones and its roof of teak wood. (Using translation from Bukhārī 446)
[Machine] We sent six delegates to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ . Five were from the Banu Hanifa tribe, and the sixth was a man from the Dhubiyya ibn Rabiah tribe. We reached the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , pledged allegiance to him, and prayed with him. We informed him that we had a pact in our land, and we brought him water to seek his blessing. He called for water, performed ablution with it, rinsed his mouth, and poured it into a container for us. Then he said, "Take this water, and when you reach your land, break your pact, pour the water in its place, and build a mosque in its location." We said, "O Messenger of Allah, the journey is long and the water will dry up." He replied, "Extend it with more water, as it will not increase it except in goodness." So we debated among ourselves regarding who would carry the container, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ appointed it to each of us for a day and a night. We carried it until we reached our land, and we did as we were commanded. A monk from Tayy called out to us to pray, and when we called him, he said it was a sincere prayer, then he ran away and was not seen again.

[Machine] He heard Jabir ibn Abdullah say: When the Kaaba was built, the Prophet ﷺ and Abbas were moving the stones. Abbas said to the Prophet ﷺ , "Put your cloak on your shoulder to protect yourself from the stones." So, the Prophet ﷺ did so, and he bent down to the ground, and his eyes glanced towards the sky. Then he stood up and said, "My cloak, my cloak!" And he tightened his cloak on himself.
[Machine] Two men argued in the mosque that was established on piety. One of them said, "This is the mosque of Madinah," and the other said, "This is the mosque of Quba." So they went to the Prophet ﷺ and he said, "This is my mosque."
[Machine] Two men disagreed about the mosque that was built upon righteousness. One of them said it is the mosque of Madinah, while the other said it is the mosque of Quba. So, they went to the Prophet ﷺ and he said, "It is my mosque."

"Two men argued about the Masjid which was founded on piety from the first day. [1] One man said that it was the Masjid of Quba', and the other said that it was the Masjid of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'It is this Masjid of mine.'" [1] At-Tawbah 9:108. (Using translation from Nasāʾī 697)

The Prophet said: "A muslim does not regularly attend the mosques to perform prayer and remember Allah, but Allah feels happy with him just as the family of one who is absent feels happy when he comes back to them." (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 800)

"One prayer in the Masjid of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ is better than one thousand prayers offered in other mosques, except Al-Masjid Al-Haram, for the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was the last of the prophets and his Masjid was the last of the Masjids." Abu Salamah and Abu 'Abdullah said: "We do not doubt that Abu Hurairah was speaking on the basis of the Hadith of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, but we could not verify that Hadith with Abu Hurairah before he died. Then we remembered that and we blamed one another for not having spoken to Abu Hurairah about that, so that he could attribute it to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ if he had indeed heard it from him. While we were arguing, we went and sat down with 'Abdullah bin Ibrahim bin Qariz, and we told him about the Hadith and how we had been negligent in not checking it with Abu Hurairah.
[Machine] On the authority of the Prophet ﷺ who said, "When one of you leaves his house to go to my mosque, there is a foot that records a good deed for him, and another foot that erases a bad deed from him, until he returns."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ bid farewell to a man and said, "Where do you intend to go?" He replied, "I intend to go to Masjid al-Aqsa." The Prophet ﷺ said, "Prayer in this mosque is better than a hundred prayers in any other mosque except for Masjid al-Haram."
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ bid farewell to a man and asked, "Where do you intend to go?" The man replied, "I intend to visit the Al-Aqsa Mosque." The Prophet ﷺ then said, "A prayer in this mosque is better than a hundred prayers in any other mosque except for the Haram Mosque (in Mecca)."
Messenger of Allah said: "Salat is this Masjid of mine is better than a thousand Salat in another, except for Masjid Al-Haram." (Using translation from Tirmidhī 325)

[Machine] Al-Khudri is the mosque of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , and Al-Umari is the mosque of Quba'. They went out and reached the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and asked him about that. He said, "This is the mosque of the Messenger of Allah, and in that is much goodness."

[Machine] He heard Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) say, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to come to Quba walking and riding."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The journey is only to three mosques: to the Masjid al-Haram, your Mosque (the Prophet's Mosque), and Al-Aqsa Mosque."

[Machine] Narrated by the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , Sulaiman ibn Dawud asked Allah the Almighty three times and He granted him two (requests). I hope that He also granted him the third one. He asked for a kingdom that no one after him would deserve, so Allah granted it to him. He asked for a judgment that would be in accordance with his own judgment, so Allah granted it to him. He asked for anyone who comes to this House (Kaaba) with the intention of praying in it, to exit it as he was when his mother gave birth to him. And the Prophet ﷺ said, "I hope that He also granted him the third (request)."
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded us to build mosques in different localities (i.e. in the locality of each tribe separately) and that they should be kept clean and be perfumed. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 455)
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Spitting in the mosque is a sin and it is expiated by burying the spittle. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 475)
A man led the people in prayer. He spat towards qiblah while the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was looking at him. The Messenger of Allah said to the people when he finished his prayer: He should not lead you in prayer (henceforth). Thenceforth he intended to lead them in prayer, but they forbade him and informed him of the prohibition of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. He mentioned it to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ who said to him: Yes. The narrator said: I think he (the Prophet) said: You did harm to Allah and His Apostle. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 481)
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Spitting in the mosque is a sin and it is expiated by burying the spittle. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 475)
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The owner of arrogance will come on the Day of Judgment with arrogance apparent on his face."
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ said, "Whoever performs a voluntary prayer facing the direction of the Qibla will come on the Day of Judgment with his voluntary prayer right in front of him."
"My nation was shown to me with their good deeds and bad deeds. Among their good deeds I saw a harmful thing being removed from the road. And among their bad deeds I saw sputum in the mosque that had not been removed." (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 3683)
The Apostle of Allah ﷺ said: The deeds of my people, good and bad, were presented before me, and I found the removal of something objectionable from the road among their good deeds, and the sputum mucus left unburied in the mosque among their evil deeds. (Using translation from Muslim 553)
I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: A human being has three hundred and sixty joints for each of which he must give alms. The people asked him: Who is capable of doing this ? He replied: It may be mucus in the mosque which you bury, and something which you remove from the road; but if you do not find such, two rak'ahs in the forenoon will be sufficient for you. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 5242)
Zirr ibn Hubaysh said: Hudhayfah traced, I think, to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ the saying: He who spits in the direction of the qiblah will come on the Day of Resurrection in the state that his saliva will be between his eyes; and he who eats from this noxious vegetable should not come near our mosque, saying it three times. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 3824)
"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Whoever eats of this plant' - the first time he said 'garlic' then he said, 'garlic, onions and leeks' [1] - 'let him not approach us in our Masjids, for the angels are offended by that which offends mankinds.'" [1] In Fath, Al-Bari, Ibn Hajar is of the opinion that it was Ibn Juraij who was talking, explaining that 'Ata' - who reported it from Jabir - narrated it both ways. (Using translation from Nasāʾī 707)
[Machine] The translation of the given Arabic sentence into English is:
"From the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , he said, 'Whoever eats from this tree, let them not harm us in our gatherings.' It means garlic."
9.7 [Machine] The Mosques
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ prohibited the eating of kurrath, but the people did not stop. Then they couldn't find any alternative to eat, so they found its smell. So he (the Prophet) said, "Did I not prohibit you from this foul vegetable or doubtfully edible plant? Those who eat it should not deceive us in our mosques, as the angels are harmed by what harms humans."
