"A man came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said: 'O Messenger of Allah, the livestock have died and the routes have been cut off; pray to Allah (SWT), the Mighty and Sublime.' So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed to Allah (SWT) and it rained from that Friday until the next. Then a man came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said: 'The houses have been destroyed, the routes have been cut off and the livestock have died.' He said: 'O Allah, on the tops of the mountains and hills, in the bottom of the valleys and where the trees grow.' So (the rain) was lifted from Al-Madinah like a garment being removed." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 1504)

"The Prophet ﷺ was delivering the Khutbah one Friday when the people stood up and shouted: 'O Prophet of Allah! There has been no rain and the animals have died. Pray to Allah (SWT) to send us rain.' He said: 'O Allah, send us rain; O Allah, send us rain.' By Allah (SWT), we could not see even a wisp of a cloud in the sky, then a cloud appeared and grew, and it rained. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came down and prayed, and the people departed, and it continued to rain until the following Friday. When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood up to deliver the Khutbah, they called out to him and said: 'O Prophet of Allah, the houses are destroyed and the routes are cut off. Pray to Allah to take it away from us.' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ smiled and said: 'O Allah, around us and not on us!' Then is dispersed from Al-Madinah and rain fell around Al-Madinah but not a single drop fell on Al-Madinah. I looked, and it was in something like a ring." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 1517)

"There was no rain for a year, so some of the Muslims went to the Prophet ﷺ one Friday and said: 'O Messenger of Allah, there has been no rain; the land has become bare and our wealth has been destroyed.' He raised his hands, and we did not see any cloud in the sky. He stretched forth his hands until I could see the whiteness of his armpits, praying to Allah (SWT) for rain. When we finished praying Jumu'ah, even a young man whose house nearby was worried about how he would get home. That lasted for a week, then on the following Friday they said: 'O Messenger of Allah, houses have been destroyed and all travel has been ceased.' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ smiled at how quickly the sons of Adam become weary, and he said with his hands raised: 'O Allah, around us and not on us,' and it dispersed from Al-Madinah." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 1527)

ذِكْرُ مَا يَدْعُو الْمَرْءُ بِهِ عِنْدَ وُجُودِ الْجَدْبِ بِالْمُسْلِمِينَ

ibnhibban:2860Aḥmad b. Yaḥyá b. Zuhayr > Ṭāhir b. Khālid b. Nizār al-Aylī from my father > al-Qāsim b. Mabrūr > Yūnus b. Yazīd al-Aylī > Hishām b. ʿUrwah from his father > ʿĀʾishah

The people complained to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ of the lack of rain, so he gave an order for a pulpit. It was then set up for him in the place of prayer. He fixed a day for the people on which they should come out. Aisha said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ, when the rim of the sun appeared, sat down on the pulpit, and having pronounced the greatness of Allah and expressed His praise, he said: You have complained of drought in your homes, and of the delay in receiving rain at the beginning of its season. Allah has ordered you to supplicate Him has and promised that He will answer your prayer. Then he said: Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Universe, the Compassionate, the Merciful, the Master of the Day of Judgment. There is no god but Allah Who does what He wishes. O Allah, Thou art Allah, there is no deity but Thou, the Rich, while we are the poor. Send down the rain upon us and make what Thou sendest down a strength and satisfaction for a time. He then raised his hands, and kept raising them till the whiteness under his armpits was visible. He then turned his back to the people and inverted or turned round his cloak while keeping his hands aloft. He then faced the people, descended and prayed two rak'ahs. Allah then produced a cloud, and the storm of thunder and lightning came on. Then the rain fell by Allah's permission, and before he reached his mosque streams were flowing. When he saw the speed with which the people were seeking shelter, he ﷺ laughed till his back teeth were visible. Then he said: I testify that Allah is Omnipotent and that I am Allah's servant and apostle. Abu Dawud said: This is a ghraib (rate) tradition, but its chain is sound. The people of Medina recite "maliki" (instead of maaliki) yawm al-din" (the master of the Day of Judgement). But this tradition (in which the word maalik occurs) is an evidence for them. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 1173)

[Machine] They used to seek rain (from God) through the Prophet Muhammadﷺ so he would pray for rain and they would be given rain. After the death of the Prophet Muhammadﷺ during the reign of Umar, they experienced drought. Umar went out with Abbas to seek rain through him, and Umar said, "O Allah, when we experienced drought during the time of your Prophet and sought rain through him, you granted us rain. And today, I seek your help through the uncle of your Prophet, so grant us rain." The rain then fell.

Ibn ‘Abbas said: ‘What kept him from asking me?’ He said: ‘The Messenger of Allah ﷺ went out humbly, walking with a humble and moderate gait, imploring, and he performed two Rak’ah as he used to pray for ‘Eid, but he did not give a sermon like this sermon of yours.’” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 1266)

The Messenger of Allah (pbuh)prayed for rain wearing a black robe with ornamented border. The Messenger of Allah (pbuh)wanted to reverse it from bottom to top by holding the bottom. But when it was too heavy he turned it round on his shoulders. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 1164)

«اسْتَسْقَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَعَلَيْهِ خَمِيصَةٌ سَوْدَاءُ فَأَرَادَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ أَنْ يَأْخُذَ بِأَسْفَلِهَا فَيَجْعَلُهُ أَعْلَاهَا فَلَمَّا ثَقُلَتْ عَلَيْهِ قَلْبِهَا عَلَى عَاتِقِهِ»
