ذِكْرُ الْبَيَانِ بِأَنَّ قَوْلَهُ ﷺ «فِي مَجَالِسِنَا» أَرَادَ بِهِ مَسَاجِدِنَا

ibnhibban:1646Muḥammad

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ prohibited the eating of kurrath, but the people did not stop. Then they couldn't find any alternative to eat, so they found its smell. So he (the Prophet) said, "Did I not prohibit you from this foul vegetable or doubtfully edible plant? Those who eat it should not deceive us in our mosques, as the angels are harmed by what harms humans."

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade eating of onions and leek. When we were overpowered by a desire (to eat) we ate them. Upon this he (the Holy Prophet) said: He who eats of this offensive plant must not approach our mosque, for the angels are harmed by the same things as men. (Using translation from Muslim 564a)
