38. Marital Feast (1/7)
[Machine] That Abdulrahman bin Awf married a woman from the Ansar (helpers) and he met the Messenger of Allah ﷺ who asked, "What is wrong?" Abdulrahman replied, "I got married to a woman from the Ansar." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then said, "Shouldn't you have married a woman from your own tribe, even if it was just for a sheep?"

The Prophet ﷺ stayed with Safiya bint Huyai for three days on the way of Khaibar where he consummated his marriage with her. Safiya was amongst those who were ordered to use a veil. (Using translation from Bukhārī 4212)

"The Messenger of Allah invaded Khaibar and we prayed Al-Ghadah (Fajr) there (early in the morning) when it was still dark. Then the Prophet rode and Abu Talha rode, and I was riding behind Abu Talha. The Prophet of Allah passed through the lane of Khaibar quickly, and my knee was touching the thigh of the Messenger of Allah, and I could see the whiteness of the thigh of the Prophet. When he entered the town he said: 'Allahu Akbar, Khaibar is destroyed! Whenever we approach a (hostile) nation to fight, evil will be the morning for those who have been warned.' He said this three times. The people came out for their work." (One of the narrators) 'Abdul-'Aziz said: "They said: 'Muhammad (has come)!'" 'Abdul-'Aziz said: "Some of our companions said: 'With his army.'" "We conquered Khaibar and gathered the captives. Dihyah came and said: 'O Prophet of Allah, give me a slave girl from among the captives.' He said: 'Go and take a slave girl.' He took Safiyyah bint Huyayy. Then a man came to the Prophet and said: 'O Messenger of Allah, you gave Dihyah Safiyyah bint Huyayy, and she is the chief mistress of Quraizah and An-Nadir, and she is fit for no one but you.' He said: 'Call him to bring her.' When the Prophet saw her, he said: 'Take any other slave girl from among the captives.'" He said: "The Prophet of Allah set her free and married her." (One of the narrators) Thabit said to him: "O Abu Hamzah, what dowry did he give her?" He (Anas) said: "Herself; he set her free and married her." He said: "While on the road, Umm Sulaim fitted her out and presented her to him in the night, and the following morning he was a bridegroom. He said: 'Whoever has anything, let him bring it.' He spread out a leather cloth and men came with cottage cheese, dates, and ghee, and they made Hais, and that was the Walimah (wedding feast) of the Messenger of Allah." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 3380)

Messenger of Allah ﷺ manumitted Safiyya and then married her, and her Mahr was her manumission, and he gave a wedding banquet with Hais (a sort of sweet dish made from butter, cheese and dates). (Using translation from Bukhārī 5169)

38.4 [Machine] Is he treating some of his wives better than others?
“I never saw the Messenger of Allah give a wedding feast for any of his wives like the feast he gave for Zainab, for which he slaughtered a sheep.” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 1908)
[Machine] I heard Anas saying, "Did not the Messenger of Allah ﷺ marry Zainab with bread and meat?"

[Machine] "I witnessed a meal with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ during which there was no bread or meat."
[Machine] "Did the Messenger of Allah ﷺ not send some of his wives on a journey to Muddain regarding some barley?" It was narrated by Ibn Mahdi from Sufyan and did not mention Aisha. 6572 Muhammad ibn Bashshar informed us, Abdul Rahman narrated to us, he said Sufyan narrated to us, from Mansur, from his mother, that the Prophet ﷺ ordered two sa' of barley."
38.5 [Machine] The answer of the invitation
when one of you is invited for a wedding feast, he must attend it. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 3736)
38.6 [Machine] The answer to the invitation to an arm.

38.8 [Machine] The fasting person's response to the invitation
When one of you receives an invitation (for a meal), he should accept it. If he isn to fasting, he should eat, and if he is fasten, he should pray. Hisham said: The word salat means to pray (for him to Allah). Abu Dawud said: This tradition has also been narrated by Hafs b. Ghiyath from Hisham. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 2460)
38.9 [Machine] Food of the wedding
[Machine] "There is no goodness in the food of a wedding feast; the rich are invited to it while the poor are left behind, and whoever does not respond has disobeyed Allah and His Messenger."
38.10 [Machine] Intensification in not giving an answer
The worst kind of food is that at a wedding feast to which the rich are invited and from which the poor are left out. If anyone does not attend the feast to which he was invited, he has disobeyed Allah and His Apostle (may peace upon him). (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 3742)
[Machine] It is said that Abu Shuayb prepared a meal and sent it to the Prophet Muhammad, ﷺ , inviting him and five others. The Prophet asked, "Can I bring a sixth person with me?"
[Machine] A man made food for the Prophet ﷺ and he sent a message to the Prophet ﷺ saying, "Come to me with five others." So the Prophet ﷺ sent a message to him saying, "Grant me permission for the sixth." Abu Abdur-Rahman said, "This is a mistake, and what came before it is correct."
38.11 [Machine] The time when people gather to eat
I know (about) the Hijab (the order of veiling of women) more than anybody else. Ubai bin Kaʿb used to ask me about it. Messenger of Allah ﷺ became the bridegroom of Zainab bint Jahsh whom he married at Medina. After the sun had risen high in the sky, the Prophet ﷺ invited the people to a meal. Allah's Apostle remained sitting and some people remained sitting with him after the other guests had left. Then Messenger of Allah ﷺ got up and went away, and I too, followed him till he reached the door of ʿAisha's room. Then he thought that the people must have left the place by then, so he returned and I also returned with him. Behold, the people were still sitting at their places. So he went back again for the second time, and I went along with him too. When we reached the door of ʿAisha's room, he returned and I also returned with him to see that the people had left. Thereupon the Prophet ﷺ hung a curtain between me and him and the Verse regarding the order for (veiling of women) Hijab was revealed. (Using translation from Bukhārī 5466)
38.12 [Machine] The reception of those who were invited.
Abu Talha said to Um Sulaim, "I have noticed feebleness in the voice of Messenger of Allah ﷺ which I think, is caused by hunger. Have you got any food?" She said, "Yes." She brought out some loaves of barley and took out a veil belonging to her, and wrapped the bread in part of it and put it under my arm and wrapped part of the veil round me and sent me to Messenger of Allah ﷺ. I went carrying it and found Messenger of Allah ﷺ in the Mosque sitting with some people. When I stood there, Messenger of Allah ﷺ asked, "Has Abu Talha sent you?" I said, "Yes". He asked, "With some food? I said, "Yes" Allah's Apostle then said to the men around him, "Get up!" He set out (accompanied by them) and I went ahead of them till I reached Abu Talha and told him (of the Prophet's visit). Abu Talha said, "O Um Sulaim! Messenger of Allah ﷺ is coming with the people and we have no food to feed them." She said, "Allah and His Apostle know better." So Abu Talha went out to receive Messenger of Allah ﷺ. Allah's Apostle came along with Abu Talha. Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "O Um Sulaim! Bring whatever you have." She brought the bread which Messenger of Allah ﷺ ordered to be broken into pieces. Um Sulaim poured on them some butter from an oilskin. Then Messenger of Allah ﷺ recited what Allah wished him to recite, and then said, "Let ten persons come (to share the meal)." Ten persons were admitted, ate their fill and went out. Then he again said, "Let another ten do the same." They were admitted, ate their fill and went out. Then he again said, '"'Let another ten persons (do the same.)" They were admitted, ate their fill and went out. Then he said, "Let another ten persons come." In short, all of them ate their fill, and they were seventy or eighty men. (Using translation from Bukhārī 3578)

"The Prophet ﷺ went out during an hour in which he would normally not go out, nor meet with anyone. Then Abu Bakr came to him. So he said:"What brought you O Abu Bakr?" He said: "I came to meet the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and to look at his face, and to make sure he was safe. It was not long before 'Umar came. He said: "What has brought you O 'Umar ?" He said: "Hunger O Messenger of Allah!"He said: "I also experienced some of that" So they went to the home of Abu Al-Haitham At-Taiyyihan Al-Ansari. He was a man with many date-palms and sheep, but he had no servants so they did not find him there. They said to his wife: "Where is your companion?" She said: "He has gone to fetch us some good water." It was not long before Abu Al-Haitham came along hauling to a large water-skin which he put down. Then he came to hug the Prophet ﷺ and uttered that his father and mother should be ransomed for him. Then he went to grove of his and he spread out a mat for them. Then he went to a date-palm and returned with a cluster of dates which he put down. The prophet ﷺ said: "Why don't you select some ripe dates for us?" He said: "O Messenger of Allah ﷺ! I wanted you to select from the ripe dates and the unripe dates." So they ate and they drank from that water. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "By the One in Whose Hand is my soul! This is among the favors which you shall be asked about on the Day of Judgement. Cool shade, tasty ripe dates, and cool water." Abu Al-Haitham left to prepare some food for them. The Prophet ﷺ said: "Do not slaughter one with milk." So he Slaughtered a small female or male goat and brought it to them so they could eat it. The Prophet ﷺ said: "Do you have any servants?" He said: "No." So he said: "Then if we get some captives we shall bring them for you." So (later) the Prophet ﷺ came with 2 males, there was no third among them and he brought them to Abu Al-Haitham. The Prophet ﷺ said: "Choose from them." He said: "O Prophet of Allah! Choose for me." So the Prophet ﷺ said: "Indeed the one consulted is entrusted. Take this one for I have seen him praying, and encourage him to do well." So Abu Al-Haitham went to his wife and informed her of what the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said. So his wife said: "You will not fulfill what the Prophet ﷺ said until you have freed him." So he said: "He is free." So the Prophet ﷺ said: "Indeed Allah has not send a Prophet nor made a Khalifah except that he has two groups of supporters, group ordering him to do good, and prohibiting him from evil and a group that never ceases spoiling his affairs. So whoever protected." (Using translation from Tirmidhī 2369)

38.13 [Machine] The gift for someone who got married
"The Messenger of Allah got married and consummated the marriage with his wife." He said: "My mother Umm Sulaim made some Hais, and I brought it to the Messenger of Allah and said: 'My mother sends you greetings of Salam, and says to you: 'This is a little from us.'' He said: 'Put it down.' Then he said: 'Go and call so-and-so, and so-and-so, and whoever you meet,' and he named some men. So I called those whom he named and those whom I met." I said to Anas: "How many were they?" He said: "About three hundred. Then the Messenger of Allah said: 'Let them sit around the dish of food in groups of ten, one after the other, and let each person eat from what is closest to him.' They ate until they were full, then one group went out and another group came in. He said to me: 'O Anas, clear it away.' So I cleared it away, and I do not know whether there was more when I cleared it away, or when I put it down." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 3387)

He said, "Get up with me." So we entered upon Aisha, and that was before the curtain was struck. He said, "Feed us, O Aisha." So she brought us a bowl, and then he said, "Feed us, O Aisha," so she brought us bread similar to a piece, and then he said, "Give us to drink." So she came to us with a piece of sugar cane. Then he said, "If you wish, you can sleep with us, and if you wish, you can go to the mosque and sleep in it?" We said, "Rather, we will go to the mosque and sleep in it." Shu'ayb ibn Ishaq contradicted him.
