38. Marital Feast
٣٨۔ كِتَابُ الْوَلِيمَةِ
that the Messenger of Allah said: 'The wedding feast on the first day is an obligation, on the second day is a custom and on the third day is showing off.” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 1915)
أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ «الْوَلِيمَةُ أَوَّلَ يَوْمٍ حَقٌّ وَالثَّانِيَ مَعْرُوفٌ وَالْيَوْمَ الثَّالِثَ سُمْعَةٌ وَرِيَاءٌ»
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The wedding feast on the first day is a right, and on the second day, it is a tradition, and anything beyond that is showing off."
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «الْوَلِيمَةُ يَوْمَ الْأَوَّلِ حَقٌّ وَالثَّانِيَ مَعْرُوفٌ وَمَا فَوْقَ ذَلِكَ رِيَاءٌ»
The Prophet ﷺ stayed with Safiya bint Huyai for three days on the way of Khaibar where he consummated his marriage with her. Safiya was amongst those who were ordered to use a veil. (Using translation from Bukhārī 4212)
أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أَنَسًا يَقُولُ «إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ أَقَامَ عَلَى صَفِيَّةَ بِنْتِ حُيَيٍّ ثَلَاثَةَ أَيَّامٍ حَتَّى أَعْرَسَ بِهَا ثُمَّ كَانَتْ فِيمَنْ ضُرِبَ عَلَيْهَا الْحِجَابُ»
