[Machine] Narrated to me about the sitting posture of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in prayer and at the end of it, how he would place his left thigh in the middle of the prayer and rest on his left leg, and how he would place his left hand on his left thigh and raise his right foot and place his right hand on his right thigh, while his index finger would be pointed upward, used for tawhid. Imran ibn Abi Anas, the brother of Banu 'Amir ibn Lu'ayy, who was a trustworthy person according to Abu al-Qasim Miqsam, the client of Abdullah ibn al-Harith ibn Nawfal, narrated to me. He said, "A man from the people of Madinah narrated to me, saying, 'I prayed in the mosque of the Banu Ghifar. When I sat in my prayer, I rested my left thigh and raised my index finger.' Khalaf ibn 'Imarah al-Ghifari saw me doing that, and he was a companion of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. While I was doing that, he said to me, 'O my son, why do you raise your finger like this?' I said, 'I do not deny it; I have seen people doing it.' He said, 'Indeed, you are correct, for the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to do that. The polytheists used to say, "Muhammad practices sorcery with his finger." They lied. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to do that to declare the Oneness of his Lord, the Most High and Most Exalted.'"

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to me, "Ask me, and I will give you." I said, "O Messenger of Allah, look at me, give me a look in my affair." He said, "Then look at your affair." I said, "Indeed, the matters of this world are cut off, so I do not see anything better than something I take for myself for my hereafter." So, I went to the Prophet ﷺ, and he said, "What is your need?" I said, "O Messenger of Allah, intercede for me with your Lord, and let Him emancipate me from the Fire." He said, "Who commanded you with this?" I said, "No, by Allah, O Messenger of Allah, no one commanded me with it, but I looked into my affair and saw that the world is temporary for its people. So, I loved to take something for my hereafter." He said, "Then help yourself by making abundant prostrations."

[Machine] I used to serve the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and fulfill his needs throughout the day until the Messenger of Allah ﷺ offered the last evening prayer. I would then sit by his door when he entered his house and say, "Perhaps there is something that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ needs." I continued to hear him say, "Glory be to Allah, glory be to Allah, glory be to Allah, and praise be to Him," until he gave up and slept. One day, when he noticed my exhaustion and dedication to his service, he asked me, "Ya Rabee'ah, ask me for anything and I will give it to you." I replied, "Let me think about it, O Messenger of Allah, and then I will let you know." I contemplated within myself and realized that this worldly life is temporary and passing, and that I have sufficient sustenance in it that is provided by Allah. I said, "I ask the Messenger of Allah ﷺ to intercede for me with my Lord, so that I may be saved from the Hellfire." He asked, "Who encouraged you to ask for this, Ya Rabee'ah?" I replied, "By Allah, speaking the truth, no one told me to ask for it, except when you said, 'Ask me for anything and I will give it to you,' and I looked at my situation and realized that this worldly life is temporary and passing, and that I have sufficient sustenance in it that is provided by Allah. I said, 'I ask the Messenger of Allah ﷺ to intercede for me with my Lord, so that I may be saved from the Hellfire.'” The Messenger of Allah ﷺ remained silent for a long time, then said to me, "I will do it. Help me to help you by increasing your prostrations."

[Machine] We were with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in Usfan, when the polytheists led by Khalid ibn Al-Walid faced us while they were between us and the qibla. So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed the noon prayer with us. They said, "They were in a situation where if we had attacked them, we would have taken them by surprise." Then they said, "Now a prayer comes upon them that is more beloved to them than their own sons and souls." Then Jibril ﷺ descended with these verses between the noon and afternoon prayers, "And when you are among them and lead them in prayer" [Quran 4:102]. He said, "So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ attended to them and ordered them to take up arms." He said, "We formed two rows behind him." He said, "Then he made the prostration and we all prostrated. Then he raised his head and we all raised our heads. Then he prostrated, and those who were behind him guarded them. When they prostrated and stood up, the others sat down and prostrated in their place. Then these people advanced towards the ranks of those people, and those people advanced towards the ranks of these people." He said, "Then he made the prostration and they all prostrated. Then he raised his head and they all raised their heads. Then he prostrated, and the row behind him guarded them. When he sat down, the others sat down and prostrated. Then he greeted them and left." He said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed it twice, once in Usfan and once in the land of Bani Sulaim."

"I heard Mujahid narrating from Abu Ayyash Az-Zuraqi"- Shu'bah said: "He had written it for me, and I read it before him, and I heard him narrating it; rather, I even memorized it." Ibn Bashshar said: "I memorized it from the book"- "The Prophet ﷺ was drawing up ranks facing the enemy in 'Usfan when the idolaters were led by Khalid bin Al-Walid. The Prophet ﷺ led them in praying Zuhr. The idolaters said: 'They have a prayer after this that is dearer to them than their wealth and sons.' Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ led them in praying 'Asr. He divided them into two rows, behind him. He led them all in bowing, then when they raised their heads he led the row that was closest to him in prostrating, while the others remained standing. When they raised their heads from prostration, the second row prostrated, as they had already bowed with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. Then the front row moved forward, so each of them took the place of his companion. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ led them all in bowing, then when they raised their heads from bowing, the row that was closest to him prostrated while the others remained standing, then when they had finished prostrating, the others prostrated, then the Prophet ﷺ said the taslim for all of them together. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: If anyone says in the morning: "There is no god but Allah alone Who has no partner; to Him belong the dominions, to Him praise is due, and He is Omnipotent," he will have a reward equivalent to that for setting free a slave from among the descendants of Isma'il. He will have ten good deeds recorded for him, ten evil deeds deducted from him, he will be advanced ten degrees, and will be guarded from the Devil till the evening. If he says them in the evening, he will have a similar recompense till the morning. The version of Hammad says: A man saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in a dream and said: Messenger of Allah! AbuAyyash is relating such and such on your authority. He said: AbuAyyash has spoken the truth. Abu Dawud said: Isma'il b. Ja'far, Musa al-Zim'i and 'Adb Allah b. Ja'far transmitted it from Suhail, from his father on the authority of Ibn 'A'ish. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 5077)

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ arrived and left Sa'd, who was sick, when he went to Hunayn. When he returned from Jirrana as a mu'tamir, he visited him and found him in pain and defeated. He said, "O Messenger of Allah, I have wealth and I will inherit kinship. Should I leave all my wealth as inheritance, or should I give charity with it?" He said, "No." He asked, "Should I leave two-thirds of it as inheritance?" He said, "No." He asked, "Should I leave one-half of it as inheritance?" He said, "No." He asked, "Should I leave one-third of it as inheritance?" He said, "Yes, and even that is a lot." He said, "O Messenger of Allah, should I die in the house from which I migrated?" He said, "I hope that Allah will elevate you and make use of you by some people and benefit others through you, O 'Amr ibn al-Qari. If Sa'd dies after me, then bury him here, towards the direction of Madinah." And he gestured with his hand like this.

[Machine] I used to work in Daynabaz and treat people there. Then Yazid bin Umayyah was appointed as the governor of Yemen, and he came with men from the companions of the Prophet ﷺ . A man who had come with him approached me while I was irrigating the crops, and he had a walnut in his hand. He sat on a water channel, breaking the walnut and eating it. Then he pointed towards a bucket and said, "Persian man, come here." So I approached him, and the man said to me, "O Persian, can you plant this walnut seed in this water?" Finanjah replied, "What benefit will I get from that?" The man said, "I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, 'Whoever plants a tree and takes care of it until it bears fruit, then every fruit that comes from it is a charity in the sight of Allah.' " So Finanjah asked him, "Did you hear this from the Messenger of Allah?" The man replied, "Yes." Finanjah then said, "I will guarantee it." The man said, "From it will be the walnut of Daynabaz."
