The Prophet ﷺ addressed the people at Mina and he made them stay in their dwellings. He then said: The Muhajirun (Emigrants) should stay here, and he made a sign to the right side of the qiblah, and the Ansar (the Helpers) here, and he made a sign to the left side of the qiblah; the people should stay around them. [Machine] Mu'adh narrated that a man from the companions of the Prophet ﷺ said, "The Prophet ﷺ delivered a sermon to the people in Mina and commanded them to set up their tents in their designated places. He then said, 'Let the emigrants camp here,' pointing towards the direction of Qibla on the right, 'and let the Ansar camp here,' pointing towards the direction of Qibla on the left, 'and let the rest of the people camp around them.' He also taught them the rituals of Hajj. The people of Mina listened to him until they could hear him clearly, even though they were in their own tents. I heard him say, 'Stone the Jamrah with pebbles as big as hazelnuts.'"
