ahmad:16549 – Makkī b. Ibrāhīm > Yazīd b. Abū ʿUbayd > Salamah b. al-Akwaʿ

[Machine] I pledged allegiance to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ . Then, I went to the shade of a tree. When people stopped going to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , he said, "O son of Al-Akwa, don't you pledge allegiance?" I said, "I have already pledged allegiance, O Messenger of Allah." He said, "And also say it again." So, I pledged allegiance to him a second time. Yazid was present, so I asked, "O Abu Muslim, what are you pledging allegiance for on that day?" He said, "For death."  

أحمد:١٦٥٤٩ – حَدَّثَنَا مَكِّيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي عُبَيْدٍ عَنْ سَلَمَةَ بْنِ الْأَكْوَعِ قَالَ

بَايَعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ ثُمَّ عَدَلْتُ إِلَى ظِلِّ شَجَرَةٍ فَلَمَّا خَفَّ النَّاسُ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ يَا ابْنَ الْأَكْوَعِ أَلَا تُبَايِعُ؟ قُلْتُ قَدْ بَايَعْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ قَالَ وَأَيْضًا قَالَ فَبَايَعْتُهُ الثَّانِيَةَ قَالَ يَزِيدُ فَقُلْتُ يَا أَبَا مُسْلِمٍ عَلَى أَيِّ شَيْءٍ تُبَايِعُونَ يَوْمَئِذٍ؟ قَالَ عَلَى الْمَوْتِ

Salama said, "I gave the Pledge of allegiance (Al-Ridwan) to Messenger of Allah ﷺ and then I moved to the shade of a tree. When the number of people around the Prophet ﷺ diminished, he said, 'O Ibn Al-Akwaʿ ! Will you not give to me the pledge of Allegiance?' I replied, 'O Messenger of Allah ﷺ! I have already given to you the pledge of Allegiance.' He said, 'Do it again.' So I gave the pledge of allegiance for the second time." I asked 'O Abu Muslim! For what did you give he pledge of Allegiance on that day?" He replied, "We gave the pledge of Allegiance for death."

When the people dispersed from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , he said, "O son of Al-Akwa, don't you give the pledge?" I replied, "I have already given the pledge, O Messenger of Allah." He also asked, "Why did you give the pledge?" I answered, "For loyalty and obedience until death."  

أحمد:١٦٥٠٩ – حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ مَسْعَدَةَ عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي عُبَيْدٍ عَنْ سَلَمَةَ بْنِ الْأَكْوَعِ قَالَ

بَايَعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ مَعَ النَّاسِ فِي الْحُدَيْبِيَةِ ثُمَّ قَعَدْتُ مُتَنَحِّيًا فَلَمَّا تَفَرَّقَ النَّاسُ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ يَا ابْنَ الْأَكْوَعِ أَلَا تُبَايِعُ؟ قَالَ قُلْتُ قَدْ بَايَعْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ قَالَ أَيْضًا قُلْتُ عَلَامَ بَايَعْتُمْ؟ قَالَ عَلَى الْمَوْتِ
