[Machine] Abu Talhah came to Umm Sulaim, the mother of Anas, and Abu Talhah asked her if she had anything. She replied that she had some barley, which she ground and then she was sent to the market. She went to the market and found its walls closed. She found some firewood and brought it. She made some bread out of it and brought it to Abu Talhah. He asked her if she had any ghee (butterfat) and she replied that she had a container of ghee which she didn't know if she should keep or use. So she brought it to him and he squeezed it. He said that squeezing ghee from two people is more food than squeezing from one person. They both squeezed it and brought out something the size of a date. Then she applied the ghee to the bread and he asked if there was any soup. She replied that they had some soup with fat floating in it and she didn't know if she should keep it or use it. So she brought it to him and he poured it over the bread. Then he called for ten men to come and they ate from it until they were full. They continued to enter in groups of ten until they were all full. Then the Messenger of Allah sat down with them and we sat with him and we ate until we were satisfied.

[Machine] Abu Talhah, O Umm Sulaym, prepare something for the Messenger of Allah ﷺ . She ground some barley and made it into a dish. Then Abu Talhah called me and said, "Go to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and say, 'Verily, my father invites you and your companion (meaning me).' Anas said, "So I went and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was sitting in the mosque. When he saw me, he said, 'O Anas.' I replied, 'Here I am, O Messenger of Allah.' He asked, 'Did your father call you?' I said, 'Yes.' He said, 'Go then.' Every time the Messenger of Allah ﷺ passed by a gathering, he would say, 'Stand up.' So I quickly went until I reached Abu Talhah and said, 'This is the Messenger of Allah ﷺ who has come and he has brought some people with him.' Abu Talhah said, 'Didn't I tell you to invite him privately?' I said, 'Yes, but when he asked me if my father had called me, I could not lie to him.' So Abu Talhah met the Messenger of Allah ﷺ at the door of the house and said, 'O Messenger of Allah, this is something we wanted to offer you.' He said, 'Enter.' So they both entered and Umm Sulaym had a flatbread (al-ukkah) that she was pressing and it was dry or nearly dry. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'O Umm Sulaym, give it to me so that I can soften it for her in a better manner than you.'" He (the narrator) said: "So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ took it with his hand and said, 'With ghee like this.' Then he placed his hand on top of the bread and said, 'O Abu Talhah, bring ten (people).' So ten entered and they all ate until they were full. Then he continued to bring in another ten, ten by ten, until seventy or eighty had entered. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and the people of the household ate, and they gave the best of what they had to their neighbors."

[Machine] He heard Anas ibn Malik say, "I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ one day and found him sitting with his companions, he was holding his stomach tightly with a stone. So, I said to one of his companions, 'Why is the Messenger of Allah holding his stomach?' He replied, 'Because of hunger.' So, I went to Abu Talha, who was the husband of Umm Sulaim, the daughter of Milhan, and I said, 'O my father, I saw the Messenger of Allah holding his stomach with a stone, so I asked some of his companions and they said it was because of hunger.' Abu Talha entered to see my mother and asked her, 'Do you have anything?' She said I have had pieces of bread and dates. If the Prophet ﷺ comes alone, we will feed him and if he comes with someone else, we will reduce what we have.' Abu Talha went out to them and said, 'O Anas, go and sit close to the Messenger of Allah, and when he stands, call him until his companions and those with him disperse.' When he stands on the doorstep of his house, say, 'My father is calling you.' So, I did that. When I said, 'My father is calling you,' he said to his companions, 'Come, closer.' He took my hand and held it tightly and went towards his companions until they reached our house. He sent his hand in, and I entered while I was sad because of the number of people with him. So, I said, 'O my father, I have said to the Messenger of Allah what you have told me, so he called his companions and came with them. Abu Talha went out to them and said, 'O Messenger of Allah, I have only sent Anas to invite you alone, and I do not have enough to satisfy whoever I see.' The Messenger of Allah said, 'Go in, for Allah will satisfy them with what you have.' So, the Messenger of Allah entered with me and said, 'Collect what you have, then bring it close.' Those who had food sat on their clothes, and I brought what we had, bread and dates, and we placed it on our mat. The Messenger of Allah invoked the blessing upon it and said, 'Bring in eight people.' So, I brought in eight people, and he placed his hand over the food and said, 'Eat, and mention the name of Allah.' They ate from between his fingers until they were satisfied. Then, he ordered me to bring in another eight, and the first eight left, and they ate until they were satisfied. Then, he ordered me to bring in another eight, and this continued until eighty men had entered, and all of them ate until they were satisfied. Then, he called me and my mother and Abu Talha and said, 'Eat.' So, we ate until we were satisfied. Then, he raised his hand and said, 'O Umm Sulaim, where is the food you prepared?' She said, 'By my father and mother, if I had not seen them eating, I would have thought that nothing had been taken from our food.'"

She prepared a pig, then Abu Talhah told me, "Go, my son, and invite the Messenger of Allah." So I went and invited him. When I came to him, he was among the people. I said, "My father is inviting you." He said to the people, "Go away." When I saw him, he told the people, "Let him come forward." So, I came forward among the people until I reached Abu Talhah, and I said, "O Abu Talhah, this is the Messenger of Allah, and there are people with him." Abu Talhah stood by the door until the Prophet came, and he said, "O Messenger of Allah, there was only a small amount." He said, "Come closer, for indeed Allah will put blessings in it." So he brought it forward, and the Messenger of Allah placed his hands in it and made supplication in it until eighty men ate from it.

[Machine] When Abu Talhah saw the Prophet ﷺ suffering from a fever, he went to Umm Sulaym and said, "I saw the Prophet ﷺ suffering from a fever. Do you have anything?" She replied, "We have some barley flour near Madinah." He said, "Make dough from it and bake it so that we can invite the Prophet ﷺ to eat from it." Abu Talhah kneaded and baked it, and it became a loaf. He came with the loaf to the Prophet ﷺ and he was accompanied by a group of people, who numbered around eighty or so. I said to the Prophet ﷺ, "Abu Talhah is inviting you." He then said to his companions, "Answer Abu Talhah." So, I hurried until I informed him that they had come. He said, "By Allah, the Messenger of Allah knows best what is in my house. Abu Talhah approached him, and he said, "By Allah, we only have a loaf. I saw you in a fever, so I told Umm Sulaym to make a loaf for you." He called for the loaf and a handful of fat and placed it in it. He then asked, "Is there any oil?" Abu Talhah replied, "There was something in the sack." So he brought it, and the Prophet ﷺ and Abu Talhah squeezed it until something came out. The Prophet ﷺ wiped it with his finger and then wiped it with the loaf. He then said, "In the name of Allah." The loaf became inflated and continued to expand until I saw it in the container, softly rising. He then said, "Invite ten of my companions." So, I invited ten, and the Prophet ﷺ placed the loaf there and said, "Eat in the name of Allah." They ate from the surroundings of the loaf until they were full. He continued to invite ten by ten to eat from the loaf, until eighty or so men had eaten from the surroundings of the loaf until they were full. He then said, "And indeed, in the middle of the loaf, where the Messenger of Allah placed his hand, it remained as it was."

[Machine] Make a special food for the Messenger of Allah ﷺ to eat from, then Abu Talha sent me to the Prophet ﷺ and I came to him and said, Abu Talha sent me to you. He said to the people, "Get up." So we met with Abu Talha, and he said, "O Prophet of Allah, I have made this food for you alone." He said, "No problem, come with us." So the people went with him and he brought the food. He made it specifically for the Prophet ﷺ and put his hand on it and invoked blessings upon it. Then he said, "Give permission to ten people." So he gave them permission, and they entered. He said, "Eat in the name of Allah." So they ate until they were satisfied, then they got up. The Prophet ﷺ put his hand on the food again as he did the first time and invoked blessings upon it. Then he said, "Give permission to ten more people." He said this until he did that with eighty men. Then the Prophet ﷺ ate along with the people of his household, and they left some of the food behind.

He then returned to Umm Sulaim and said, "I have seen something from the Messenger of Allah which has greatly saddened me. Do you have anything?" She replied, "Yes, I have some barley." He then said to her, "Make it into porridge." So she made it and he said to her, "Go and invite the Messenger of Allah, but do not let anyone know." Anas said, "When the Prophet ﷺ saw me, he asked, 'Did Abu Talha send you?' I replied, 'Yes.' He then said, 'Gather the people.' So seventy of them gathered and I went to Abu Talha and informed him. He said, 'O Messenger of Allah, it is something we have made for you. By Allah, we do not have what we could give them.' He said, 'Bring what you have.' So I brought it, and Umm Sulaim had a bowl of clarified butter, which she began to squeeze until it soaked the food. Then he placed his hand on it and said, 'Come, ten by ten.' So they started eating, and none of them watched over others. They ate until they were full and could not eat anymore, and they remained full until Umm Sulaim gave the rest to her neighbors."

So the Prophet ﷺ and whoever was with him stood up and entered the house. He said to me: 'O Anas, bring in ten.' So ten people entered, and they ate until they were full. Then he said: 'Bring in ten.' So ten more entered, and they ate until they were full. Then he said: 'Bring in ten to me.' I said to Anas: 'How many were there?' He said: 'Thirty or forty.' So they ate until they were full. Then the Prophet ﷺ ate, and we ate until we were full. He said: 'It was as if it did not decrease at all.' And in another Hadith of Abu Talhah, there was some barley that Umm Sulaim made for him, and she squeezed some ghee on it."

[Machine] Umm Sulaim gave birth to a boy, but he became sick and his condition worsened. Then Umm Sulaim died, and Abu Talha went to the Prophet ﷺ . Abu Talha left the Prophet's presence when he was praying Maghrib. Umm Sulaim wrapped the child and placed him in a corner of her house. Abu Talha missed the child and Umm Sulaim told him that she had made a vow not to bring the child near him, as he had not had a peaceful night since he became sick. So she brought him close to him and he ate. Then she brought him something good and he also ate that. Then she approached Abu Talha and he ate as well. Abu Talha said, "O Abu Talha, if you had seen our neighbors borrowing from each other clothes until they thought we had given them to them, but when they returned them, they found in themselves regret for what they had done." She said, "Indeed, Allah had granted you Fulan (the child) and then He took him back from you, and He is more deserving of him than you." So the next day he went to the Prophet ﷺ in the morning, and informed him of the news. The Prophet ﷺ said, "O Allah, bless their night." Umm Sulaim became pregnant with Abdullah Ibn Abu Talha and she placed him at the end of the night. She said, "Do not wake him up until morning." When morning came, she washed him and made him happy. Then she called Anas and said, "O my son, take your brother to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ." Anas said, "So I went and carried him, and there was the Messenger of Allah ﷺ standing in his Izar (waist wrap) with a comb in his hand. He said, 'O Anas, what is this with you?' I said, 'My brother, O Messenger of Allah.' He said, 'Bring him to me.' So I presented him to him, and he called for a date and chewed it, and then he rubbed the child's gums. The child smiled, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'The love of the Ansar is in dates.'"

[Machine] "Do not inform Abu Talhah of the death of my son until I am the one who informs him," she said. So he came and she served him dinner and a drink. He ate and drank, then she prepared herself in the best way she had never done before. When he was full and satisfied, she revealed the news to him. When she realized that he had eaten and satisfied his need, she said, "O Abu Talhah, what if a family borrowed some clothes from another family, and then the borrowing family asked for their clothes back, would it be fair for them to keep the clothes?" He said, "No." She said, "Then be patient, and your son will be returned to you." He became angry and said, "You have left me, and now you tell me about the death of my son." He went to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, "O Messenger of Allah, did you not see what Umm Sulaim did?" The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "May Allah bless both of you in your night." He then went on to say that she became pregnant that night. She and Abu Talhah were with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ when she went into labor. Abu Talhah stayed with her, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ continued on. Abu Talhah said, "O Lord, you know that it pleases me to go out with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ when he goes out and to enter with him when he enters. But this happened, so I will stay with her." He said this while feeling very distressed. The labor pains of Umm Sulaim began, and she gave birth to a baby boy. Her mother said to me, "O Anas, do not feed him anything until you take him to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ tomorrow morning." Anas said, "So I spent that night comforting him as he cried until morning. I took the baby boy to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and I found that he had a small date branch in his hand. When he saw the baby with me, he said, 'Perhaps Umm Sulaim gave birth?' I said, 'Yes.' He then placed the date branch in his mouth until it melted, then he put it in the mouth of the baby. The baby became peaceful, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Look at the love of the Ansar for dates.' He then wiped his face and named him Abdullah."

In what the Prophet prayed, he said, "And grant him wealth and children." Anas said, "I do not know of anyone who has enjoyed a comfortable life as much as I have. And I have personally buried 200 of my own children, without saying that they were miscarriages or children born alive."

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , said: "When a woman dies and they want to wash her, they should start with her abdomen and wipe her abdomen gently, unless she is pregnant, in which case they should not move her. If you want to wash her, start with her lower body, then throw a cloth over her private parts and wash her, washing her well. Then put your hand under the cloth and wipe her three times with a cloth, wiping her well before you wash her. Then wash her with water containing sidr, and let the water drain from her while she is standing, without tilting her to one side, until she is clean with sidr. The woman who washes her should be the first of the women to wash her, and if not, a virtuous Muslim woman. If she is young or weak, have another virtuous Muslim woman wash her. When she finishes washing her lower body, she should wash her with clean water and sidr, and then perform the ritual ablution for prayer. This is how her ablution is done, then wash her three times with water and sidr, starting with her head before anything else, and clean it of sidr with water. Don't comb her hair, because if anything happens to it after the three washes, make them five. If something happens in the fifth wash, make them seven. All of this should be with water and sidr. If it happens in the fifth or third wash, add some camphor and sidr to it, then put it in a new basin. Then sit her down and pour water on her, starting with her head until you reach her feet. When you finish, throw a clean cloth over her, then put your hand behind the cloth and remove it from her. Then stuff her lower body with as much sidr as you can, and stuff her upper body with sidr, then tie a long washed cloth around her waist, like a belt. Then tie it between her thighs and squeeze her thighs, then move the end of the belt from her waist to near her knees. This is how her lower body is prepared. Then perfume her, shroud her, and wrap her hair in three separate pieces, two on each side, and do not make her resemble a man. Let her shroud be made of five pieces, one of them is the izar, which is wrapped around her waist. Do not shake any of her hair with any type of pilled cloth. If it appears to you that she should be shrouded in her burial shroud, make it into a single piece. This is how her shroud and head should be. If she is restricted or bound or similar, take a single piece of cloth and immerse it in water, and follow everything with it, but do not move it, for I fear that something might escape from it that cannot be returned."
