[Machine] "The Prophet ﷺ was brought a young boy who wet himself, so he commanded to clean him up. Then, a young girl was brought to him who had menstruated, so he commanded to wash her."  

«أُتِيَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ بِغُلَامٍ فَبَالَ عَلَيْهِ فَأَمَرَ بِهِ فَنَضَحَ وَأُتِيَ بِجَارِيَةٍ فَبَالَتْ عَلَيْهِ فَأَمَرَ بِهِ فَغُسِلَ»  

[Machine] "Perhaps I disputed with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ over performing ablution using the same vessel."  

«رُبَّمَا نَازَعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ الْوُضُوءَ مِنْ إِنَاءٍ وَاحِدٍ»  

[Machine] Abd al-Mun'im Abu Said al-Harrani al-Iswari narrated from Salat ibn Dinar from Abu Uthman al-Nahdi from a woman among them named Umm Afif who said: "We pledged allegiance to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ when he pledged allegiance to the women. He commanded us not to speak to men except as mahrams, and he ordered us to recite the opening chapter of the Book (i.e., Al-Fatiha) over our deceased."  

ثنا عَبْدُ الْمُنْعِمِ أَبُو سَعِيدٍ الْحَرَّانِيُّ الَإِسْوَارِيُّ عَنِ الصَّلْتِ بْنِ دِينَارٍ عَنْ أَبِي عُثْمَانَ النَّهْدِيِّ عَنِ امْرَأَةٍ مِنْهُمْ يُقَالُ لَهَا أُمُّ عَفِيفٍ قَالَتْ «بَايَعْنَا رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ حِينَ بَايَعَ النِّسَاءَ فَأَخَذَ عَلَيْهِنَّ أَنْ لَا تُحَدِّثْنَ الرَّجُلَ إِلَّا مُحْرِمًا وَأَمَرَنَا أَنْ نَقْرَأَ عَلَى مَيِّتِنَا بِفَاتِحَةِ الْكِتَابِ»  

[Machine] We were with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ when a plate made of clay was brought. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ ate from it, and I ate with him. The one with two hands also ate with us. Then, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was given a date and he offered it to me. He asked, "What is wrong with you?" I replied, "I was fasting and forgot." The one with two hands said, "Now, after you have eaten your fill, you remember." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "No harm befell you. It is only a provision that Allah has brought to you. So, complete your fast."  

كُنَّا عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَأُتِيَ بِقَصْعَةٍ مِنْ ثَرِيدٍ فَأَكَلَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَأَكَلْتُ مَعَهُ وَأَكَلَ مَعَنَا ذُو الْيَدَيْنِ ثُمَّ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ تَنَاوَلَ عَرَقًا فَنَاوَلَنِيهِ فَقَالَ مَا لَكِ؟ قُلْتُ كُنْتُ صَائِمَةً فَنَسِيتُ فَقَالَ ذُو الْيَدَيْنِ الْآنَ بَعْدَمَا شَبِعْتِ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «لَا بَأْسَ عَلَيْكِ إِنَّمَا هُوَ رِزْقٌ سَاقَهُ اللهُ إِلَيْكِ فَأَتِمِّي صَوْمِكِ»  

[Machine] I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and he ordered me to take a patch made of barley and he clothed me with a garment.  

«أَتَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فَأَمَرَ لِي بِسَوِيقٍ مِنْ شَعِيرٍ وَكَسَانِي كِسَاءً»  

[Machine] An-Naqeer is the shortened trunk of the palm tree, which the Prophet ﷺ forbade.  

النَّقِيرُ أُصُولُ النَّخْلِ الْمُخَصَّرَةُ النَّابِتَةُ الَّتِي نَهَى عَنْهَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ  

[Machine] "That her father took her to the Prophet ﷺ , and he wiped his hand over her and blessed her. She said, 'So she became a righteous worshipper woman.'"  

أَنَّ أَبَاهَا ذَهَبَ بِهَا إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَمَسَحَ بِيَدِهِ عَلَيْهَا وَبَارَكَ عَلَيْهَا قَالَتْ فَكَانَتِ امْرَأَةً عابدةً صَالِحَةً  

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ appeared one evening and said, "Oh people, do you not feel ashamed?" They asked, "About what, O Messenger of Allah?" He said, "You gather what you do not eat, build what you do not inhabit, and hope for what you do not achieve. Do you not feel ashamed of that?"  

اطَّلَعَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ ذَاتَ عَشِيَّةٍ فَقَالَ يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ أَمَا تَسْتَحْيُونَ؟ قَالُوا مِمَّ ذَاكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ؟ قَالَ تَجْمَعُونَ مَا لَا تَأْكُلُونَ وَتَبْنُونَ مَا لَا تَعْمُرُونَ وَتَأْمُلُونَ مَا لَا تُدْرِكُونَ أَلَا تَسْتَحْيُونَ ذَلِكَ؟  

[Machine] She went to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and asked him to serve them. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ had just returned from a journey and was tired. He said, "The orphans of the Battle of Badr have already preceded you."  

أَنَّهَا ذَهَبَتْ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَسَأَلَتْهُ أَنْ يُخْدِمَهُمْ وَكَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ قَدِمَ مِنْ سَفَرِهِ وَقَدْ أَصَابَ رَقِيقًا فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «سَبَقَكُمْ يَتَامَى أَهْلِ بَدْرٍ»  

[Machine] I saw Budeil ibn Warqa' leading a group of people and calling out, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbids you from fasting these days, as they are days of eating and drinking."  

رَأَيْتُ بُدَيْلَ بْنَ وَرْقَاءَ عَلَى جَمْعٍ يَتْبَعُ النَّاسَ فَيُنَادِي إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ «يَأْمُرُكُمْ أَنْ لَا تَصُومُوا هَذِهِ الْأَيَّامَ فَإِنَّهَا أَيَّامُ أَكْلٍ وَشُرْبٍ»  

[Machine] From her mother, Ummi Sinan al-Aslamiyah, from the Mubayi'ah, she said, "I came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, 'O Messenger of Allah, indeed, I have come to you out of shyness and I have not come to you seeking a need.' He said, 'If you were self-sufficient, it would be better for you.'"  

عَنْ أُمِّهَا أُمِّ سِنَانٍ الْأَسْلَمِيَّةِ مِنَ الْمُبَايِعَاتِ قَالَتْ جِئْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنِّي جِئْتُكَ عَلَى حَيَاءٍ وَمَا جِئْتُكَ حَتَّى أُلْجِئْتُ مِنَ الْحَاجَةِ فَقَالَ «لَوِ اسْتَغْنَيْتِ لَكَانَ خَيْرًا لَكِ»  

[Machine] "He waited for Umm Abd until she prayed at the doorstep."  

«أَنَّهُ انْتَظَرَ أُمَّ عَبْدٍ حَتَّى صَلَّتْ عَلَى عُتْبَةَ»  

[Machine] I entered upon Abu Musa and he was performing the morning prayer. His wife went to cry or to complain about him, so Abu Musa asked her, "Didn't you hear what the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said?" She replied, "Yes," and remained silent. When Abu Musa died, Yazid said, "I met his wife and said to her the same words Abu Musa said to her: 'Didn't you hear what the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said?'" She replied, "Yes," and remained silent. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "He is not one of us who shaves, plucks, or makes incisions."  

دَخَلْتُ عَلَى أَبِي مُوسَى وَهُوَ تَقِيَّةٌ فَذَهَبَتِ امْرَأَتُهُ لَتَبْكِي أَوْ تَهُمُّ بِهِ فَقَالَ لَهَا أَبُو مُوسَى أَمَا سَمِعْتِ مَا قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ؟ قَالَتْ بَلَى فَسَكَتَتْ فَلَمَّا مَاتَ أَبُو مُوسَى قَالَ يَزِيدُ لَقِيتُ امْرَأَتَهُ فَقُلْتُ لَهَا قَوْلَ أَبِي مُوسَى أَمَا سَمِعْتِ مَا قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ ثُمَّ سَكَتَتْ قَالَتْ نَعَمْ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «لَيْسَ مِنَّا مَنْ حَلَقَ أَوْ سَلَقَ أَوْ خَرَقَ»  

The Prophet [SAW] said: "Every intoxicant is unlawful." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 5587)  

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «كُلُّ مُسْكِرٍ حَرَامٌ»  

[Machine] Narrated by Umm Qais, the daughter of Muhassin, who was one of the early emigrant women who pledged allegiance to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ . She was the sister of Ukkasha bin Muhassin. Umm Qais said that she brought her son to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ who had not yet reached the age of eating solid food. He had a wet bed, so the Messenger of Allah ﷺ called for water and poured it on the boy's urine without washing it.  

عَنْ أُمِّ قَيْسٍ بِنْتِ مِحْصَنٍ وَكَانَتْ مِنَ الْمُهَاجِرَاتِ الْأُوَلِ اللَّاتِي بَايَعْنَ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ وَهِيَ أُخْتُ عُكَّاشَةَ بِنْتِ مِحْصَنٍ أَنَّهَا «أَتَتْ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ بِابْنٍ لَهَا لَمْ يَبْلُغْ أَنْ يَأْكُلَ الطَّعَامَ فَبَالَ فِي حِجْرِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَدَعَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ بِمَاءٍ فَنَضَحَهُ عَلَى بَوْلِهِ وَلَمْ يَغْسِلْهُ»  

[Machine] Um Qais said to me, "If you could see me and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ holding hands in a path from the streets of Madinah, where there is no house, until we reached the graveyard of Gharkad. He said to me, 'O Um Qais!' I said, 'Here I am, at your service, O Messenger of Allah.' He said, 'You will see this graveyard from which Allah will resurrect seventy thousand people on the Day of Resurrection, resembling the full moon on a night of the full moon. They will enter Paradise without any reckoning.' Ukashah stood up and said, 'Am I included in them, O Messenger of Allah?' He said, 'Yes, you are.' Then another man stood up and said, 'Am I included in them, O Messenger of Allah?' He said, 'Ukashah has beaten you to it.'"  

قَالَتْ لِي أُمُّ قَيْسٍ لَوْ رَأَيْتَنِي وَرَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ آخِذٌ بِيَدِي فِي سِكَّةٍ مِنْ سِكَكِ الْمَدِينَةِ مَا فِيهَا بَيْتٌ حَتَّى انْتَهَى إِلَى بَقِيعِ الْغَرْقَدِ فَقَالَ لِي يَا أُمَّ قَيْسٍ قُلْتُ لَبَّيْكَ وَسَعْدَيْكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ قَالَ لَتَرَيِنَّ هَذِهِ الْمَقْبَرَةَ يَبْعَثُ اللهُ مِنْهَا سَبْعِينَ أَلْفًا يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ عَلَى صُورَةِ الْقَمَرِ لَيْلَةَ الْبَدْرِ يَدْخُلُونَ الْجَنَّةَ بِغَيْرِ حِسَابٍ فَقَامَ عُكَّاشَةُ فَقَالَ وَأَنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ؟ قَالَ وَأَنْتَ فَقَامَ آخِرُ فَقَالَ وَأَنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ؟ قَالَ سَبَقَكَ بِهَا عُكَّاشَةُ  

"My son died, and I felt very sad. I said to the one who was washing him: 'Do not wash my son with cold water and kill him." 'Ukashah bin Mihsan went to the Messenger of Allah and told him what she had said, and he smiled then said: "What did she say, may Allah give her long life?" And we do not know of any woman who lived as long as she lived. (Using translation from Nasāʾī 1882)  

عَنْ أَبِي الْحَسَنِ مَوْلَى أُمِّ قَيْسٍ بِنْتِ مِحْصَنٍ عَنْ أُمِّ قَيْسٍ أَنَّهَا قَالَتْ تُوُفِّيَ ابْنِي فَجَزِعْتُ عَلَيْهِ فَقُلْتُ لِلَّذِي يُغَسِّلُهُ لَا تُغَسِّلِ ابْنِي بِالْمَاءِ الْبَارِدِ فَتَقْتُلَهُ فَانْطَلَقَ عُكَّاشَةُ بْنُ مِحْصَنٍ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَأَخْبَرَهُ بِقَوْلِهَا فَتَبَسَّمَ ثُمَّ قَالَ مَا قَالَتْ طَالَ عُمُرُهَا فَلَا نَعْلَمُ امْرَأَةً عَمَرَتْ مَا عَمَرَتْ  

[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "Make the birds rest on their perches."  

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «أَقَرُّوا الطَّيْرَ عَلَى مَكِنَاتِهَا»  

[Machine] My aunt gave the grandmother of my child a gift of butter, honey, and a tail of a slaughtered animal, so the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ate from the butter and honey but left the tail dirty, even if it was prohibited, it would not have been eaten on the table of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.  

«أَهْدَتْ أُمُّ حُفَيْدٍ خَالَتِي إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ سَمْنًا وَأَقِطًا وَأَضُبًّا فَأَكَلَ مِنَ السَّمْنِ وَالْأَقِطِ وَتَرَكَ الْأَضُبَّ تَقَذُّرًا وَلَوْ كَانَ حَرَامًا مَا أُكِلَ عَلَى مَائِدَةِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ»  

[Machine] "I used to serve people among the companions of the Prophet ﷺ , including Zaid bin Thabit and Muadh bin Jabal."  

«كُنْتُ أَسْقِي أُنَاسًا مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فِيهِمْ زَيْدُ بْنُ ثَابِتٍ وَمُعَاذُ بْنُ جَبَلٍ»  

[Machine] As for the female dog, it is the animal that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade.  

«أَمَّا الدُّبَّاءُ فَهِيَ الْقَرْعُ الَّذِي نَهَى رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ عَنْهُ»  

[Machine] "O son, indeed what is prohibited is what Allah has made lawful, and what is permissible is what Allah has forbidden."  

«أَيْ بُنَيَّ إِنَّ الْمُحَرِّمَ مَا أَحَلَّ اللهُ كَالْمُسْتَحِلِّ مَا حَرَّمَ اللهُ»  

[Machine] "The act of circumcision should only be performed in non-Arab lands, as this is what the Messenger of Allah ﷺ prohibited."  

«الْحَنْتَمُ حَنَاتِمُ يَكُونُ بِأَرْضِ الْعَجَمِ فَهَذَا الَّذِي نَهَى عَنْهُ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ»  

[Machine] "O Prophet of Allah, what is the equivalent of performing Hajj with you?" He replied, "Performing Umrah during Ramadan."  

يَا نَبِيَّ اللهِ مَا يَعْدِلُ الْحَجَّ مَعَكَ؟ قَالَ عُمْرَةٌ فِي رَمَضَانَ  

[Machine] "That Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) declared a mandate regarding the women who migrated, among a thousand of them was Umm Abd."  

«أَنَّ عُمَرَ ؓ فَرَضَ فِي نِسَاءِ الْمُهَاجِرَاتِ فِي أَلْفِ أَلْفٍ مِنْهُنَّ أُمُّ عَبْدٍ»  

[Machine] She sent a cup of milk to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ when he was fasting at the beginning of the day, during the heat of the day. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ responded to her and asked her, "Where did you get this milk from?" She replied, "It is from my sheep." He then asked her, "Where did you get this sheep from?" She said, "I bought it with my own money." He took it from her. The next day, Umm Abdullah came to him and said, "O Messenger of Allah, I sent you milk to cool you down during the long day and intense heat, but you refused it." He responded to her and said, "The messengers were commanded to only eat what is pure and to only engage in righteous deeds."  

أَنَّهَا بَعَثَتْ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ بِقَدَحِ لَبَنٍ عِنْدَ فِطْرِهِ وَهُوَ صَائِمٌ وَذَلِكَ فِي طُولِ النَّهَارِ وَشِدَّةِ الْحَرِّ فَرَدَّ إِلَيْهَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَنَّى كَانَ لَكِ هَذَا اللَّبَنُ؟ قَالَتْ مِنْ شَاةٍ لِي فَرَدَّ إِلَيْهَا رَسُولَهَا أَنَّى كَانَتْ لَكِ هَذِهِ الشَّاةُ؟ قَالَتْ اشْتَرَيْتُهَا مِنْ مَالِي فَأَخَذَهُ مِنْهَا فَلَمَّا كَانَ مِنَ الْغَدِ أَتَتْهُ أُمُّ عَبْدِ اللهِ فَقَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ بَعَثْتُ إِلَيْكَ بِاللَّبِنِ مُرَائِيَّةً لَكَ مِنْ طُولِ النَّهَارِ وَشِدَّةِ الْحَرِّ فَرَدَدْتَ الرَّسُولَ فِيهِ فَقَالَ لَهَا «بِذَلِكَ أُمِرَتِ الرُّسُلُ أَنْ لَا نَأْكُلَ إِلَّا طَيِّبًا وَلَا نَعْمَلَ إِلَّا صَالِحًا»  

"When Abu Musa was close to death, his wife screamed and he said: 'Do you not know what the Messenger of Allah said?" She said: 'Yes, Then she fell silent and it was said to her after that: 'What did the Messenger of Allah say?' She said: 'The Messenger of Allah cursed the one who shaves his head, raises his voice in lamentation or rends his garment." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 1867)  

لَمَّا ثَقُلَ أَبُو مُوسَى صَاحَتِ امْرَأَتُهُ فَقَالَ أَمَا عَلِمْتِ مَا قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَتْ بَلَى ثُمَّ سَكَتَتْ فَقِيلَ لَهَا بَعْدَ أَيِّ شَيْءٍ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ؟ قَالَتْ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «لَعَنَ اللهُ مَنْ حَلَقَ أَوْ خَرَقَ أَوْ سَلَقَ»  

[Machine] The mother of Kabsha, a woman from the tribe of Qudaa, said, "O Messenger of Allah, allow me to go out in the army of so and so." He said, "No." I said, "O Messenger of Allah, I do not want to fight, I only want to treat the wounded and sick, or to give water to the sick." He said, "If it were not for it being a Sunnah (recommended practice) and for fear of people saying, 'So and so's daughter went out,' I would have given you permission. But you may sit."  

أَنَّ أُمَّ كَبْشَةَ امْرَأَةً مِنْ عُذْرَةَ قُضَاعَةَ قَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ ائْذَنْ لِي أَنْ أَخْرُجَ فِي جَيْشِ كَذَا وَكَذَا قَالَ لَا قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّهُ لَيْسَ أُرِيدُ أَنْ أُقَاتِلَ إِنَّمَا أُرِيدُ أَنْ أُدَاوِيَ الْجَرْحَى وَالْمَرْضَى أَوْ أَسْقِي الْمَرْضَى قَالَ لَوْلَا أَنْ تَكُونَ سُنَّةً وَأَنْ يُقَالَ فُلَانَةُ خَرَجَتْ لَأَذِنْتُ لَكِ وَلَكِنِ اجْلِسِي  

[Machine] "She heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbidding mixing two things, so I asked, 'And what are they?' He said, 'Dates and raisins.' And she was the mother of Mugheeth ibn Abi Abdur Rahman, and she had prayed towards both Qiblas during the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ .' "  

«أَنَّهَا سَمِعَتْ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ» يَنْهَى عَنِ الْخَلِيطَيْنِ فَقُلْتُ وَمَا هُمَا؟ قَالَ التَّمْرُ وَالزَّبِيبُ وَكَانَتْ أُمُّ مُغِيثٍ جَدَّةَ رَبِيعَةَ بْنِ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ وَقَدْ صَلَّتِ الْقِبْلَتَيْنِ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ  

[Machine] That the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , when he grew old and weak, relied on it (meat) and carried it.  

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ لَمَّا أَسَنَّ وَحَمَلَ اللَّحْمَ اعْتَمَدَ عَلَيْهَا  

[Machine] That Umm Qais, the daughter of Mihsan, was one of the early Muhajirin who pledged allegiance to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ . She informed me that she came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ with her son who had not reached the age of eating food. She had tied an amulet around him. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to her, "Why do you burden your children with these amulets? Instead, you should use this Indian qust (a type of aromatic wood) as it has seven healing properties, one of which is the relief of side pain." 'Ubaidullah (the narrator) said, Umm Qais informed me that her son had blisters in the stone of the Prophet's room. So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ called for water and poured it on the boy's urine without washing it.  

أَنَّ أُمَّ قَيْسٍ بِنْتَ مِحْصَنٍ وَكَانَتْ مِنَ الْمُهَاجِرَاتِ الْأُوَلِ اللَّاتِي بَايَعْنَ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فَأَخْبَرَتْنِي أَنَّهَا أَتَتْ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ بِابْنٍ لَهَا لَمْ يَبْلُغْ أَنْ يَأْكُلَ الطَّعَامَ وَقَدْ أَعْلَقَتْ عَلَيْهِ مِنَ الْعُذْرَةِ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ عَلَى مَ تَدَعُنَّ أَوْلَادَكُنَّ بِهَذِهِ الْعَلَائِقِ عَلَيْكُمْ بِهَذِهِ الْعُودِ الْهِنْدِيِّ يَعْنِي الْقُسْطَ فَإِنَّ فِيهِ سَبْعَةَ أَشْفِيَةٍ مِنْهَا ذَاتُ الْجَنْبِ قَالَ عُبَيْدُ اللهِ فَأَخْبَرَتْنِي أُمُّ قَيْسٍ أَنَّ ابْنَهَا بَالَ فِي حِجْرِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَدَعَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ بِمَاءٍ فَصَبَّهُ عَلَى بَوْلِهِ وَلَمْ يَغْسِلْهُ  

[Machine] Thana Hajjaj ibn al-Minhal and Abdullah ibn Muslimah al-Qa'nabi narrated to us, and Ubaid ibn Ghannam narrated to us, and Abu Bakr ibn Abi Shaybah said, and Sufyan ibn Uyaynah narrated from al-Zuhri, from Ubaidullah ibn Abdullah ibn Utbah, from Umm Qais bint Mihsan that she entered upon her child who had not eaten food, so she mentioned it to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, who called for water and sprinkled it on him.  

ثنا حَجَّاجُ بْنُ الْمِنْهَالِ وَعَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مَسْلَمَةَ الْقَعْنَبِيُّ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ بْنُ غَنَّامٍ ثنا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ قَالُوا ثنا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُتْبَةَ عَنْ أُمِّ قَيْسِ بِنْتِ مِحْصَنٍ أَنَّهَا «دَخَلَتْ بِابْنٍ لَهَا لَمْ يَأْكُلِ الطَّعَامَ فَبَالَ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَدَعَا بِمَاءٍ فَرَشَّهُ عَلَيْهِ»  

[Machine] Al-Qa'nabi narrated from Malik, and Bakr ibn Sahl narrated from Abdullah ibn Yusuf, who narrated from Malik as well. Ali ibn al-Mubarak also narrated from Malik, through Ismail ibn Abi Uways, who narrated from Malik as well. Malik narrated from Az-Zuhri, who narrated from Ubaidullah ibn Abdullah ibn Utbah, who narrated from Umm Qais bint Muhassin that she brought her young son to the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , who had not eaten food yet. She sat him in his chamber and he vomited on his garment. The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , called for water and he rinsed it off, but did not wash it.  

ثنا الْقَعْنَبِيُّ عَنْ مَالِكٍ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا بَكْرُ بْنُ سَهْلٍ ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ يُوسُفَ أنا مَالِكٌ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ الصَّنْعَانِيُّ ثنا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ أَبِي أُوَيْسٌ حَدَّثَنِي مَالِكٌ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُتْبَةَ عَنْ أُمِّ قَيْسٍ بِنْتِ مِحْصَنٍ «أَنَّهَا أَتَتْ بِابْنٍ لَهَا صَغِيرٍ لَمْ يَأْكُلِ الطَّعَامَ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَأَجْلَسَتْهُ فِي حِجْرِهِ فَبَالَ عَلَى ثَوْبَهِ فَدَعَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ بِمَاءٍ فَنَضَحَهُ وَلَمْ يَغْسِلْهُ»  

[Machine] It says, "The Prophet ﷺ saw a young child who had not eaten, so he sat him in his room. The child vomited, so the Prophet ﷺ called for water and sprinkled it on him without washing him."  

أَنَّهَا «جَاءَتِ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ بِابْنٍ لَهَا صَغِيرٍ لَمْ يَأْكُلِ الطَّعَامَ فَأَجْلَسَهُ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فِي حِجْرِهِ فَبَالَ عَلَيْهِ فَدَعَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ بِمَاءٍ فَنَضَحَهُ عَلَيْهِ وَلَمْ يَغْسِلْهُ»  

I brought my young son, who had not started eating (ordinary food) to Messenger of Allah ﷺ who took him and made him sit in his lap. The child urinated on the garment of the Prophet, so he asked for water and poured it over the soiled (area) and did not wash it. (Using translation from Bukhārī 223)  

أَنَّهَا «أَتَتْ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ بِابْنٍ لَهَا صَغِيرٍ لَمْ يَأْكُلِ الطَّعَامَ فَأَجْلَسَهُ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فِي حِجْرِهِ فَبَالَ عَلَيْهِ فَدَعَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ بِمَاءٍ فَنَضَحَهُ وَلَمْ يَغْسِلْهُ»  

[Machine] She brought her little son to the Messenger of Allah, may ﷺ , and he had a urinary problem. The Messenger of Allah, may ﷺ , asked, "What do you call your children with these attachments?" He meant the Indian wood known as "Qist". He said, "Indeed, it has seven healing properties, including the side pain." Ubaidullah said, "Um Qais informed me that her son was suffering from a stone in the Prophet's room, so the Messenger of Allah, may ﷺ , prayed for water and poured it on his urine and did not wash it."  

أَنَّهَا أَتَتْ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ بِابْنٍ لَهَا صَغِيرٍ قَدْ عَلَّقَتْ عَلَيْهِ مِنَ الْعُذْرَةَ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ عَلَى مَ تَدْعُونَ أَوْلَادَكُنَّ بِهَذِهِ الْعَلَائِقِ عَلَيْكُنَّ بِهَذَا الْعُودِ الْهِنْدِيِّ يَعْنِي الْقُسْطَ فَإِنَّ فِيهِ سَبْعَةَ أَشْفِيَةٍ مِنْهَا ذَاتُ الْجَنْبِ قَالَ عُبَيْدُ اللهِ وَأَخْبَرَتْنِي أُمُّ قَيْسٍ أَنَّ ابْنَهَا بَالَ فِي حِجْرِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَدَعَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ بِمَاءٍ فَصَبَّهُ عَلَى بَوْلِهِ وَلَمْ يَغْسِلْهُ  

[Machine] "We entered upon the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and I had my son with me who had not eaten any food. So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ placed him in his lap in his chamber. Then, some traces appeared on his garment, so he ordered water to be poured on them but did not wash them."  

«دَخَلْنَا عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ وَمَعِي ابْنٌ لِي لَمْ يَطْعِمِ الطَّعَامَ فَجَعَلَهُ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فِي حِجْرِهِ فَبَالَ عَلَى ثَوْبَهِ فَأَمَرَ بِمَاءٍ فَنَضَحَ عَلَيْهِ وَلَمْ يَغْسِلْهُ»  

[Machine] She pledged allegiance to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ that she had heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "Use this Indian wood, meaning the qust, for it contains seven healing properties, one of which is for pleurisy."  

بَايَعْنَ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ أَنَّهَا سَمِعَتْ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «عَلَيْكُمْ بِهَذَا الْعُودِ الْهِنْدِيِّ يَعْنِي الْقُسْطَ فَإِنَّ فِيهِ سَبْعَةَ أَشْفِيَةٍ مِنْهَا ذَاتُ الْجَنْبِ»  

[Machine] "I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ with my son who had not eaten, so he put him in his room. He then accidentally soiled the Prophet's ﷺ garment, so he called for water and sprinkled it on his garment without washing it."  

«أَتَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ بِابْنٍ لِي لَمْ يَأْكُلِ الطَّعَامَ فَجَعَلَهُ فِي حِجْرِهِ فَبَالَ عَلَى ثَوْبِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَدَعَا بِمَاءٍ فَنَضَحَهُ عَلَى ثَوْبَهِ وَلَمْ يَغْسِلْهُ»  

"I heard Umm Qais bint Mihsan say that she asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about menstrual blood that gets on one's clothes. He said: 'Scratch it with a stick and wash it with water and lotus leaves.'" (Using translation from Nasāʾī 395)  

أَنَّهَا سَأَلَتْ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ عَنْ دَمِ الْحَيْضَةِ يُصِيبُ الثَّوْبَ فَقَالَ «اغْسِلِيهِ بِمَاءٍ وَسِدْرٍ وَحُكِّيهٍ بِضِلَعٍ»  

[Machine] Al-Qa'abi narrated that Sulaiman ibn Bilal narrated from Yahya ibn Sa'id from Bishr ibn Yasir that Husayn ibn Muhsin informed him that his aunt once entered upon the Messenger of Allah ﷺ one day, and he asked her, "Are you married?" She answered, "Yes." He asked, "How are you to him?" She replied, "O Messenger of Allah, I do not harm him except what I am unable to do." He said, "Look at how you are to him, for he is your Paradise and your Hellfire."  

ثنا الْقَعْنَبِيُّ ثنا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ بِلَالٍ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ بُشَيْرِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ أَنَّ حُصَيْنَ بْنَ مِحْصَنٍ أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّ عَمَّتَهُ دَخَلَتْ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ ذَاتَ يَوْمٍ فَقَالَ ذَاتُ زَوْجٍ أَنْتَ؟ قَالَتْ نَعَمْ قَالَ كَيْفَ أَنْتِ لَهُ؟ قَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ مَا آلُوَهُ إِلَّا مَا عَجَزْتُ فَقَالَ انْظُرِي كَيْفَ أَنْتِ لَهُ فَإِنَّمَا هُوَ جَنَّتُكِ وَنَارُكِ  

[Machine] She came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in need, and he fulfilled her need. Then he asked, "Are you his wife?" She replied, "Yes." He said, "How are you towards him?" She said, "I only do what I am unable to do." He said, "Then look at how you are with him, for he is your paradise and your hellfire."  

أَنَّهَا أَتَتْ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فِي حَاجَةٍ فَقَضَى لَهَا حَاجَتَهَا ثُمَّ قَالَ أَذَاتُ بَعْلٍ أَنْتِ؟ قَالَتْ نَعَمْ قَالَ فَكَيْفَ أَنْتِ لَهُ؟ قَالَتْ مَا آلُوَهُ إِلَّا مَا عَجَزْتُ عَنْهُ قَالَ فَانْظُرِي كَيْفَ أَنْتِ لَهُ فَإِنَّهُ جَنَّتُكِ وَنَارُكِ  

[Machine] She came to the Prophet ﷺ and he said, "Do you have a husband?" She said, "Yes." He said, "How are you to him?" She said, "I do not refuse him except for what I am unable to do." He said, "Know that he is your paradise and your Hellfire."  

أَنَّهَا أَتَتِ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَقَالَ أَمَا لَكِ بَعْلٌ قَالَتْ نَعَمْ قَالَ كَيْفَ أَنْتِ لَهُ؟ قَالَتْ مَا آلُوَ إِلَّا مَا عَجَزْتُ عَنْهُ فَقَالَ اعْلَمِي أَنَّهُ جَنَّتُكِ وَنَارُكِ  

[Machine] Al-Qa'nabi narrated to us that Al-Hajjaj ibn Safwan narrated from Usayd ibn Abi Usayd Al-Barradi, from a woman among the women who gave allegiance (to the Prophet Muhammad), she said, "Among what the Messenger of Allah ﷺ took from us was that we should not disobey him in what is known (to be good), and that we should not scratch our faces, nor spread our hair, nor tear our garments, nor curse anyone."  

ثنا الْقَعْنَبِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا الْحَجَّاجُ بْنُ صَفْوَانَ عَنْ أُسَيْدِ بْنِ أَبِي أُسَيْدٍ الْبَرَّادِ عَنِ امْرَأَةٍ مِنَ الْمُبَايِعَاتِ قَالَتْ كَانَ فِيمَا أَخَذَ عَلَيْنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَنْ «لَا نَعْصِيَهُ فِي الْمَعْرُوفِ وَأَنْ لَا نَخْمِشَ وَجْهًا وَلَا نَنْشُرَ شِعْرًا وَلَا نَشُقَّ جَيْبًا وَلَا نَدْعُوَ وَيْلًا»  

[Machine] We said, "O Messenger of Allah, we have roads to the mosque that are not clean, and there are cleaner roads after them, right?" We said, "Yes." He said, "So, take these roads instead."  

قُلْنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّ لَنَا طُرُقًا إِلَى الْمَسْجِدِ مُنْتِنَةً فَقَالَ أَلَيْسَ بَعْدَهَا طُرُقٌ أَنْظَفُ مِنْهَا؟ قُلْنَا بَلَى قَالَ فَهَذِهِ بِهَذِهِ  

[Machine] I said, "O Messenger of Allah, we have a bad road during the rain." The Prophet ﷺ said, "Isn't there a good road besides it?" I said, "Yes." He said, "So opt for that."  

قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّ لَنَا طَرِيقًا خَبِيثَةً فِي الْمَطَرِ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «أَلَيْسَ دُونَهَا طَرِيقٌ طَيِّبَةٌ؟» قُلْتُ بَلَى قَالَ «فَذَلِكَ بِذَلِكَ»  

[Machine] Narrated by Zainab bint Nubayt bin Jabir, from her mother or her aunt, the daughters of Abi Umamah, she said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ left a will to me regarding his daughters, meaning Abu Umamah As'ad bin Zurarah. We said, 'The Messenger of Allah ﷺ recommended us with a pair of golden anklets.'"  

عَنْ زَيْنَبَ بِنْتِ نُبَيْطِ بْنِ جَابِرٍ عَنْ أُمِّهَا أَوْ خَالَتِهَا بَنَاتِ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ قَالَتْ «أَوْصَى إِلَيَّ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ بِبَنَاتِهِ يَعْنِي أَبَا أُمَامَةَ أَسْعَدَ بْنَ زُرَارَةَ فَقُلْنَ حَلَانَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ رُعَاثًا مِنْ ذَهَبٍ»  

she said, the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ recited the Āyah of Stoning to us: "al-shaykhu wa-al-shaykhah idhā zanayā fārjumūhumā al-battata bimā qaḍayā min al-ladhhah (The ˹married˺ man and a woman, if they commit adultery, then absolutely stone them for what they spent in ˹seeking˺ pleasure.)" (Using translation from Ḥākim 8070)  

لَقَدْ أَقْرَأَنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ آيَةَ الرَّجْمِ «الشَّيْخُ وَالشَّيْخَةُ إِذَا زَنَيَا فَارْجُمُوهُمَا الْبَتَّةَ بِمَا قَضَيَا مِنَ اللَّذَّةِ»  

That a woman of Banu Asad: One day I was with Zaynab, the wife of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and we were dyeing her clothes with red ochre. In the meantime the Messenger of Allah ﷺ peeped us. When he saw the red ochre, he returned. When Zaynab saw this, she realised that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ disapproved of what she had done. She then took and washed her clothes and concealed all redness. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then returned and peeped, and when he did not see anything, he entered. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 4071)  

«كُنْتُ يَوْمًا عِنْدَ زَيْنَبَ امْرَأَةِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ وَنَحْنُ نَصْبُغُ ثِيَابًا بِمَغْرَةَ فَبَيْنَا نَحْنُ كَذَلِكَ إِذْ طَلَعَ عَلَيْنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَلَمَّا رَأَى الْمَغْرَةَ رَجَعَ فَلَمَّا رَأَتْ ذَلِكَ زَيْنَبُ عَلِمَتْ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَدْ كَرِهَ مَا فَعَلَتْ فَأَخَذَتْ مَاءً فَغَسَلَتْ ثِيَابَهَا وَوَارَتْ كُلَّ حُمْرَةٍ ثُمَّ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ رَجَعَ فَاطَّلَعَ فَلَمْ يَرَ شَيْئًا فَدَخَلَ»  

[Machine] I witnessed Amina when she gave birth to the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ . When the labor pains struck her, I looked at the stars as they leaned down until I thought they would fall upon me. But when she gave birth to him, a light came out of her that illuminated the house we were in and the entire neighborhood. I couldn't see anything except light.  

«شَهِدْتُ آمِنَةَ لَمَّا وَلَدَتْ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَلَمَّا ضَرَبَهَا الْمَخَاضُ نَظَرْتُ إِلَى النُّجُومِ تَدَلَّى حَتَّى إِنِّي لَأَقُولُ لَتَقَعَنَّ عَلَيَّ فَلَمَّا وَلَدَتْهُ خَرَجَ مِنْهَا نُورٌ أَضَاءَ لَهُ الْبَيْتُ الَّذِي نَحْنُ فِيهِ وَالدَّارُ فَمَا شَيْءٌ أَنْظُرُ إِلَيْهِ إِلَّا نُورٌ»
