Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Anyone of you attending the Friday (prayers) should take a bath." (Using translation from Bukhārī 877)
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «إِذَا جَاءَ أَحَدُكُمُ الْجُمُعَةَ فَلْيَغْتَسِلْ»
Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Anyone of you attending the Friday (prayers) should take a bath." (Using translation from Bukhārī 877)
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «إِذَا جَاءَ أَحَدُكُمُ الْجُمُعَةَ فَلْيَغْتَسِلْ»
Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Anyone of you attending the Friday (prayers) should take a bath."
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ إِذَا جَاءَ أَحَدُكُمُ الْجُمُعَةَ فَلْيَغْتَسِلْ
I heard Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "Anyone of you coming for the Jumua prayer should take a bath."
سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ مَنْ جَاءَ مِنْكُمُ الْجُمُعَةَ فَلْيَغْتَسِلْ
My father said , "I heard the Prophet ﷺ delivering the Khutba on the pulpit and he said, 'Whoever comes for the Jumua prayer should take a bath (before coming).' "
سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ يَخْطُبُ عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ فَقَالَ مَنْ جَاءَ إِلَى الْجُمُعَةِ فَلْيَغْتَسِلْ
While delivering a sermon, Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "If anyone of you comes while the Imam is delivering the sermon or has come out for it, he should offer a two rakʿat prayer."
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَهُوَ يَخْطُبُ إِذَا جَاءَ أَحَدُكُمْ وَالإِمَامُ يَخْطُبُ أَوْ قَدْ خَرَجَ فَلْيُصَلِّ رَكْعَتَيْنِ
The Prophet ﷺ said, "If somebody fights (or beats somebody) then he should avoid the face."
عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ: «إِذَا قَاتَلَ أَحَدُكُمْ فَلْيَجْتَنِبِ الْوَجْهَ۔»
Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "When anyone of you is away from his house for a long time, he should not return to his family at night."
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِذَا أَطَالَ أَحَدُكُمُ الْغَيْبَةَ فَلاَ يَطْرُقْ أَهْلَهُ لَيْلاً
When any one of you intends to come for Jumu'a prayer, he should take a bath.
سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ إِذَا أَرَادَ أَحَدُكُمْ أَنْ يَأْتِيَ الْجُمُعَةَ فَلْيَغْتَسِلْ
He who comes for Jumu'a he should take a bath.
عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ أَنَّهُ قَالَ وَهُوَ قَائِمٌ عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ مَنْ جَاءَ مِنْكُمُ الْجُمُعَةَ فَلْيَغْتَسِلْ
When any one of you comes for the Friday (prayer) and the Imam comes out (from his apartment), (even then) should observe two rak'ahs (of prayer).
أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ خَطَبَ فَقَالَ إِذَا جَاءَ أَحَدُكُمْ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ وَقَدْ خَرَجَ الإِمَامُ فَلْيُصَلِّ رَكْعَتَيْنِ
When any one of you observes the Jumu'a prayer (two obligatory rak'ahs in congregation), he should observe four (rak'ahs) afterwards.
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِذَا صَلَّى أَحَدُكُمُ الْجُمُعَةَ فَلْيُصَلِّ بَعْدَهَا أَرْبَعًا
When you follow a bier, do not sit until it is placed on the (ground).
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِذَا اتَّبَعْتُمْ جَنَازَةً فَلاَ تَجْلِسُوا حَتَّى تُوضَعَ
Whenever you come across a bier you should stand up, and he who follows it should not sit down till it is placed on the ground.
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ إِذَا رَأَيْتُمُ الْجَنَازَةَ فَقُومُوا فَمَنْ تَبِعَهَا فَلاَ يَجْلِسْ حَتَّى تُوضَعَ
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: When any of you breaks wind during the prayer, he should turn away and perform ablution and repeat the prayer. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 205)
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «إِذَا أَحْدَثَ أَحَدُكُمْ فِي الصَّلَاةِ فَلْيَنْصَرِفْ وَلْيَتَوَضَّأْ ثُمَّ يُصَلِّي»
“The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: ‘When anyone of you gets up to perform prayer, then indeed mercy is facing him, so he should not smooth the pebbles.’” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 1027)
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «إِذَا قَامَ أَحَدُكُمْ إِلَى الصَّلَاةِ فَإِنَّ الرَّحْمَةَ تُوَاجِهُهُ فَلَا يَمْسَحِ الْحَصَا»
The Prophet ﷺ said, "Ghusl (taking a bath) on Friday is compulsory for every Muslim reaching the age of puberty." (Using translation from Bukhārī 858)
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «غُسْلُ يَوْمِ الْجُمُعَةِ وَاجِبٌ عَلَى كُلِّ مُحْتَلِمٍ»
While 'Umar b. al-Khattab was making a speech on Friday (in the mosque), a man came in. 'Umar said: Are you detained from prayer ? The man said: As soon as I heard the call for prayer, I perfumed ablution. Then 'Umar said: Only ablution ? Did you not hear the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: When any one of you comes for Friday (prayer) he should take a bath. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 340)
تَسْمَعْ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «إِذَا جَاءَ أَحَدُكُمْ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ فَلْيَغْتَسِلْ»
"The Messenger of Allah said: 'Fasting is a shield."' (Using translation from Nasāʾī 2224)
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «الصَّوْمُ جُنَّةٌ»
[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Read Surah Hud on the day of Friday."
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «اقْرَءُوا سُورَةَ هُودٍ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ»
Why are you coming late to the prayer? The man said: As soon as I heard the call, I did wudoo’. He said: Did you not also hear that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: ʿBefore one of you goes to Jumu'ah, let him do ghusl?ʿ (Using translation from Aḥmad 91)
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا جَاءَ أَحَدُكُمْ إِلَى الْجُمُعَةِ فَلْيَغْتَسِلْ
The Prophet ﷺ said, "If somebody fights (or beats somebody) then he should avoid the face." (Using translation from Bukhārī 2559)
وَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا قَاتَلَ أَحَدُكُمْ فَلْيَجْتَنِبِ الْوَجْهَ
When any one of you fights with his brother he should avoid striking at the face. (Using translation from Muslim 2612a)
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا قَاتَلَ أَحَدُكُمْ فَلْيَجْتَنِبِ الْوَجْهَ
[AI] The Prophet ﷺ said, "Whoever washes a deceased person should then purify oneself."
عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ مَنْ غَسَّلَ مَيِّتًا فَلْيَغْتَسِلْ
When you follow a bier, do not sit until it is placed on the (ground). (Using translation from Muslim 959a)
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا تَبِعْتُمْجَنَازَةً فَلَا تَجْلِسُوا حَتَّى تُوضَعَ
[AI] On the authority of the Prophet ﷺ , he said: "When one of you throws or strikes, let him avoid the face of his brother."
عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ إِذَا رَمَى أَوْ ضَرَبَ أَحَدُكُمْ فَلْيَجْتَنِبْ وَجْهَ أَخِيهِ
[AI] The Prophet ﷺ used to not sit down until the funeral was placed.
كَانَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ إِذَا تَبِعَ جَنَازَةً لَمْ يَجْلِسْ حَتَّى تُوضَعَ
[AI] The translation of the passage into English is: "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'When one of you prays, he should mention its meaning.'"
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ إِذَا صَلَّى أَحَدُكُمْ فَذَكَرَ مَعْنَاهُ
If one of you comes (back from a journey) at night. he should not enter his house as a night visitor (but should wait) until a woman whose husband has been away from house has removed the hair from her private parts and a woman with dishevelled hair has combed her hair. قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا دَخَلَ أَحَدُكُمْ لَيْلًا فَلَا يَأْتِ أَهْلَهُ طُرُوقًا كَيْ تَسْتَحِدَّ الْمُغِيبَةُ وَتَمْتَشِطَ الشَّعِثَةُ
[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "When one of you comes to Jumu'ah prayer and the Imam is delivering the sermon, let him pray two light rak'ahs."
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا جَاءَ أَحَدُكُمْ إِلَى الْجُمُعَةِ وَالْإِمَامُ يَخْطُبُ فَلْيُصَلِّ رَكْعَتَيْنِ خَفِيفَتَيْنِ
Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "When anyone of you is away from his house for a long time, he should not return to his family at night." (Using translation from Bukhārī 5244)
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا أَطَالَ أَحَدُكُمُ الْغَيْبَةَ فَلَا يَطْرُقَنَّ أَهْلَهُ لَيْلًا
[AI] On the authority of Nubayh Al-Anzi, who narrated from Jabir ibn Abdullah, who said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "When one of you enters upon his family at night, he should not approach them suddenly."
عَنْ نُبَيْحٍ الْعَنَزِيِّ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا دَخَلَ أَحَدُكُمْ لَيْلًا فَلَا يَطْرُقَنَّ أَهْلَهُ طُرُوقًا
[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "When one of you prays, let him cover himself for his prayer, even if it is with an arrow."
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا صَلَّى أَحَدُكُمْ فَلْيَسْتَتِرْ لِصَلَاتِهِ وَلَوْ بِسَهْمٍ
"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Allah loves concealment, so when any one of you performs Ghusl let him conceal himself with something.'" (Using translation from Nasāʾī 407)
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِنَّ اللهَ حَيِيٌّ سِتِّيرٌ فَإِذَا أَرَادَ أَحَدُكُمْ أَنْ يَغْتَسِلَ فَلْيَتَوَارَى بِشَيْءٍ
[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "When one of you wakes up, let him rinse his mouth three times."
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا بَالَ أَحَدُكُمْ فَلْيَنْتُرْ ذَكَرَهُ ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ
“The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: ‘Whoever kills, the spoils are his.’” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 2838)
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مَنْ قَتَلَ فَلَهُ السَّلَبُ
If any one of you performs ablution (on Friday) that is all right; and if any of you takes a bath, that is better. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 354)
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مَنْ تَوَضَّأَ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ فَبِهَا وَنِعْمَتْ وَمَنْ اغْتَسَلَ فَهُوَ أَفْضَلُ
If any one of you performs ablution (on Friday) that is all right; and if any of you takes a bath, that is better. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 354)
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مَنْ تَوَضَّأَ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ فَبِهَا وَنِعْمَتْ وَمَنْ اغْتَسَلَ فَالْغُسْلُ أَفْضَلُ
This tradition has also been transmitted by Sa'd (b. Abi Waqqas) from the Prophet ﷺ in a similar manner through a different chain of narrators. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 1470)
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ
“The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: ‘When anyone of you gets up to perform prayer, then indeed mercy is facing him, so he should not smooth the pebbles.’” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 1027)
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا قَامَ أَحَدُكُمْ إِلَى الصَّلَاةِ فَإِنَّ الرَّحْمَةَ تُوَاجِهُهُ فَلَا تُحَرِّكُوا الْحَصَى
The Prophet ﷺ said, "If anyone of you enters a Mosque, he should not sit until he has offered a tworakʿ at prayer." (Using translation from Bukhārī 1167)
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا دَخَلَ أَحَدُكُمُ الْمَسْجِدَ فَلَا يَجْلِسْ حَتَّى يُصَلِّيَ رَكْعَتَيْنِ
[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "It is obligatory upon every Muslim to perform ghusl (ritual bath), apply perfume, and use siwak on the day of Friday."
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ حَقٌّ عَلَىكُلِّ مُسْلِمٍ الْغُسْلُ وَالطِّيبُ وَالسِّوَاكُ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ
[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Do not combine my name with my nickname."
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لَا تَجْمَعُوا بَيْنَ اسْمِي وَكُنْيَتِي
Yahya related to me from Malik from Nafi from Abdullah ibn Umar that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "When you are invited to a wedding feast, you must go to it."
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ إِذَا دُعِيَ أَحَدُكُمْ إِلَى وَلِيمَةٍ فَلْيَأْتِهَا
[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Omitting the greeting of peace (salam) is a sunnah."
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «حَذْفُ السَّلَامِ سُنَّةٌ»
[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "If any of you dozes off on Friday in his gathering, then he should move from that gathering."
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «إِذَا نَعَسَ أَحَدُكُمْ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ فِي مَجْلِسِهِ فَلْيَتَحَوَّلْ مِنْ مَجْلِسِهِ ذَلِكَ»
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "When one of you wakes up in the morning and has not performed the Witr prayer, let them perform it."
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «إِذَا أَصْبَحَ أَحَدُكُمْ وَلَمْ يُوتِرْ فَلْيُوتِرْ»
[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Witr (odd-numbered prayers) is a right, so whoever does not perform Witr is not among us."
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «الْوِتْرُ حَقٌّ فَمَنْ لَمْ يُوتِرْ فَلَيْسَ مِنَّا»
[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "When you bury the deceased, then offer Witr (an odd number of prayers)."
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «إِذَا أَجْمَرْتُمُ الْمَيِّتَ فَأَوْتِرُوا»
[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "If the call for Fajr prayer is made and one of you is in a state of junub (sexual impurity), then he should not fast that day."
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «إِذَا نُودِيَ بِالصَّلَاةِ صَلَاةِ الصُّبْحِ وَأَحَدُكُمْ جُنُبٌ فَلَا يَصُومُ يَوْمَئِذٍ»
"The Messenger of Allah said: 'Fasting is a shield."' (Using translation from Nasāʾī 2224)
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «لَا صَوْمَ فِي يَوْمِ عِيدٍ» *
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ as saying: None of you must fast on Friday unless he fasts the day before or the day after. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 2420)
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «لَا يَصُومُ أَحَدُكُمْ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ إِلَّا أَنْ يَصُومَ قَبْلَهُ أَوْ بَعْدَهُ»
