3. Book of Purification (1/12)
[Machine] "I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ raising his hands until they were level with his ears, then he performed the bowing (rukoo') until every joint in his body was settled, and he extended the takbeer until his hands were level with his knees."
"This is an authentic chain of narration according to the conditions of the two Sheikhs, and I do not know of any defect in it as they have not rejected it."
The Prophet ﷺ said: Both hands prostrate as the face prostrates. When one of you puts his face (on the ground) he should put his hands too (on the ground). And when he raises it, he should raise them too. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 892)
[Machine] I heard Al-Bara' ibn 'Azib saying that the Prophet ﷺ used to prostrate on the palms of his hands.
[Machine] Al-Qa'ani reported that Dawud ibn Qais narrated from Ubaidullah ibn Abdullah ibn Akram, from his father, that he was with his father in a place called al-Qa'a, when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ performed the prayer. He said, "I used to look at the armpits of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ whenever he prostrated."
[Machine] The translation of the given text in English is: "Indeed, the Prophet ﷺ used to "place his fingers together when he prostrated."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Do not stretch out your arms and lean on your sides, and do not neglect your feet. For if you do that, every part of your body will prostrate along with you." "Al-Bukhari relied on the testimony of Adam ibn Ali al-Bakri, and Muslim relied on the testimony of Muhammad ibn Ishaq, and this is authentic and they did not exclude it." Authentic.
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to say, "When a man prays with tranquility, I heard Abu Zakaria al-Anbari saying, 'He prays with tranquility when he extends his arms and keeps them away during ruku' (bowing) and sujud' (prostration)."
I came to the Prophet ﷺ from behind. I saw the whiteness of his armpits and he kept his arms away from his sides and raised his stomach (from the ground). (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 899)
[Machine] The translation of the given text from Arabic to English is: "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to place his arms firmly on the ground when he prostrated."
When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ prostrated himself, if a lamb wanted to pass between his arms, it could pass. (Using translation from Muslim 496)
[Machine] Aisha, the wife of the Prophet ﷺ , I lost the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , and he was lying on my bed, and I found him prostrating, with his feet facing towards the Qibla, and I heard him saying, "I seek refuge in Your pleasure from Your wrath, and in Your forgiveness from Your punishment, and I praise You in a manner that befits You. I cannot fully encompass Your greatness." When he finished, he said, "O Aisha, did your Shaytan deceive you?" So I said, "Do you have a Shaytan, Messenger of Allah?" He said, "Every person has a Shaytan." I said, "And even you, Messenger of Allah?" He replied, "Yes, but Allah has helped me against him, so he has become a Muslim."
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ prohibited to peck like a crow, and to spread (the forearms) like a wild beast, and to fix a place in the mosque like a camel which fixes its place. These are the wordings of Qutaybah. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 862)
This hadith has been narrated on the authority of Abu Huraira with another chain of transmitters. (Using translation from Muslim 1716b)
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The worst of people in stealing is the one who steals their own prayer." They said, "O Messenger of Allah, how does one steal their own prayer?" He said, "They do not complete the bowing or prostration."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The worst of people in terms of theft is the one who steals his own prayer." They asked, "O Messenger of Allah, how does one steal their own prayer?" He said, "They do not complete its bowing and prostration." Both chains of narration are authentic and have not been reported separately.
[Machine] "The Prophet ﷺ prohibited a man from relying on his left hand when sitting in prayer." In the hadith of Ishaq, it is mentioned: "A man should rely on his hands in prayer."
It pertains to the sunnah to utter the tashahhud quietly. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 986)
[Machine] This verse is recited in the tashahhud: "And do not be loud in your prayer or too low - and seek between that a way." [Al Isra 110]
[Machine] On the authority of Abu Ali Al-Junbi, from Fadalah bin Ubaid Al-Ansari, who said that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saw a man praying but he did not praise Allah, glorify Him, or send blessings upon the Prophet ﷺ . The man then departed, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Hurry after him." So he called him, and said to him and others, "When any of you prays, let him begin with praising his Lord, glorifying Him, and sending blessings upon the Prophet ﷺ . Then let him supplicate with whatever he desires."
[Machine] "Indeed, the Prophet ﷺ used to give one single salutation in prayer, tilting his face slightly towards the right side."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Omitting the greeting of peace (salam) is a sunnah."
[Machine] Abu Al-Muwajjah narrated that Abdan reported that Abdullah reported from Al-Awza'i from Qurrat ibn Abdul Rahman from Al-Zuhri from Abu Salamah from Abu Hurayrah who said, "Omitting the greeting of peace (salaam) is a Sunnah."
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ used to recognize that it was a Surah when Gabriel came to him and recited "Bismillah ar-Rahman ar-Rahim"
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ used to not know the end of a chapter until the verse "In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful" was revealed.
[Machine] "The Muslims did not know the completion of a Surah until the Bismillah ar-Rahman ar-Rahim was revealed. When the Bismillah ar-Rahman ar-Rahim was revealed, they knew that the Surah had been completed." No mention was made of Rahim, Sa'id bin Jubayr."
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ used to recite "In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful" [Chapter Al-Fatiha, verse 1], and "All praise is due to Allah, the Lord of all the worlds" [Chapter Al-Fatiha, verse 2]. He would recite them letter by letter.
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ recited in the prayer [Surah Al-Fatiha]: "In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful." (1) He considered it as one verse. Then he recited: "Praise be to Allah, the Lord of all the worlds." (2) He considered it as two verses. Then he recited: "The Most Gracious, the Most Merciful." (1) He considered it as three verses. Then he recited: "Master of the Day of Judgment." He considered it as four verses. And he said: "This is how we worship You and seek help from You." (5) He showed the five fingers of his hand. "Umar ibn Harun said, 'This is a foundation in the Sunnah, and I have not seen anyone else mention it as a witness.' They unanimously agreed on its weakness, meaning Umar ibn Harun's statement. And Al-Nasai said, 'It is considered abandoned.'"
"I prayed behind Abu Hurairah and he recited: In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful, then he recited Umm Al-Qur'an (Al Fatihah), and when he reached: not (the way) of those who earned Your anger, nor of those who went astray, he said: 'Amin and the people said 'Amin. And every time he prostrated he said: 'Allahu Akbar and when he stood up from sitting after two Rak'ahs he said: 'Allahu Akbar'. And after he had said the Salam he said: 'By the One in Whose Hand is my soul! My prayer most closely remembers the prayer of the Messenger of Allah.'" (Using translation from Nasāʾī 905)
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to say "In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful" out loud. Muhammad is weak, meaning Muhammad ibn Qais.
[Machine] "Muawiya performed salah (prayer) in Al-Madinah loudly, reciting with a loud voice. He recited in it (the prayer) 'Bismillahir-Rahmanir-Rahim' for Umm al-Quran (the opening chapter of the Quran) but did not recite 'Bismillahir-Rahmanir-Rahim' for the following chapter until he completed that recitation. When he finished the prayer, someone who heard this from the Muhajireen (Emigrants) and the Ansar (Helpers) called out to him, 'O Muawiya, did you steal the prayer or forget?' When he prayed after that, he recited 'Bismillahir-Rahmanir-Rahim' for the following chapter after Umm al-Quran and made a loud takbeer (saying Allahu Akbar) when he prostrated."
[Machine] Anas bin Malik was asked, "How was the recitation of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ?" He said, "It was elongated. He would recite, 'In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful,' (Surah Al-Fatiha, verse 1) elongating 'the Most Gracious' and 'the Most Merciful.'"
[Machine] "To follow the prayer of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, the narrators of this hadith, including the last of them, are trustworthy and reliable."
[Machine] I prayed behind the Prophet ﷺ , behind Abu Bakr, behind Umar, behind Uthman, and behind Ali, and all of them used to recite "Bismillah ar-Rahman ar-Rahim" out loud. I mentioned this hadith as evidence for what has been mentioned before. In these narrations that we have mentioned, there is a contradiction to the narration of Qatadah that our Imams narrated from him, and it has remained in this chapter concerning the Commander of the Faithful Uthman, Ali, Talhah ibn Ubayd Allah, Jabir ibn Abdullah, Abdullah ibn Umar, Al-Hakam ibn Umayr ath-Thumali, Nu'man ibn Bashir, Samurah ibn Jundub, Buraydah al-Aslami, and Aisha bint Siddiq. All of these are mentioned by me in this chapter. I have omitted some of them in order to simplify, and I have mentioned what is appropriate to this chapter. Similarly, I mentioned in this chapter the companions, followers, and their followers who recited Bismillah ar-Rahman ar-Rahim out loud. As for the author's hesitation to mention this fabricated hadith, I swear by Allah that he is lying and Allah knows best.

[Machine] Abu Hurairah entered the mosque of Bani Zuraiq and said, "There are three things that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to do, but people have neglected them. When he stood up for prayer, he would say this, and Abu 'Amir pointed with his hand, not separating his fingers and not closing them."
[Machine] "That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to spread his fingers during prayer is narrated by Sa'id ibn Sam'an, a well-known follower from the people of Madinah."
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ used to say, when starting the prayer, "Allah is the greatest, the Most Great, and all praise is due to Allah abundantly. Glory be to Allah in the morning and evening." He would repeat this three times. Then he would say, "O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the accursed Satan, from his whispers, his spitting, and his breath."
"When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ started to pray, he would say: 'Subhanakallahumma, wa bihamdika tabarakasmuka wa ta'ala jadduka wa la ilaha ghairuk (Glory and praise be to You, O Allah. Blessed be Your name and exalted be Your majesty, there is none worthy of worship except You.)" (Using translation from Nasāʾī 900)
[Machine] "Glory be to You, O Allah, and praise be to You. Blessed is Your name, and exalted is Your greatness. There is no god but You." "This hadith (narration) has been attributed to Umar, but it is not considered authentic."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed the Dhuhr prayer with us, and when he finished, he called out to a man who was at the back of the rows and said, "O so-and-so, don't you fear Allah? Don't you pay attention to how you pray? Indeed, when any of you stands for prayer, he is conversing privately with his Lord, so let him pay attention to how he converses with Him. Surely, you all see me, but by Allah, I see what is behind my back just as I see what is in front of me."
The Prophet ﷺ said: Allah, the Most High, continues to turn favourably towards a servant while he is engaged in prayer as long as he does not look to the side (by turning the neck), but if he does so, He turns away from him. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 909)
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ informed them, saying: "Indeed, Allah, the Blessed and Exalted, commanded Yahya ibn Zakariya with five words that he should act upon. So when you stand in prayer, do not turn your faces away, for indeed, Allah, the Exalted, turns His face towards the face of His servant, until He prays for him. He does not turn His face away from him until the servant turns away." The two scholars, with their chains of narration, have narrated this hadith from the last of them. However, we did not find any other narrators for Al-Harith Al-Ash'ari except for Mamtuur Ibn Abi Salam, so they abandoned it. I have spoken about this matter in another place, and it suffices to not repeat it. The hadith is authentic, and preserved according to the conditions of the Imams.
"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to turn to his right and left when praying, but he did not twist his neck to look behind him." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 1201)
[Machine] When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was heading towards Hunayn, he said, "Will anyone keep watch over us tonight?" Anas ibn Abi Marthad al-Ghanawi said, "I will, O Messenger of Allah." He said, "Go." The next day, the Prophet ﷺ came out and asked, "Have you spotted your warrior?" They replied, "No." So, the Prophet ﷺ started praying and turned towards the troops. When he finished his prayer, he said, "Your warrior has come forward." When he arrived, the Prophet ﷺ asked, "Have you descended?" He replied, "No, except for prayer or to fulfill a need." Then he said, "I surveyed the two armies, and I found that they are well-equipped and at their best, heading towards Hunayn." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "There will be spoils for the Muslims tomorrow, if Allah wills." (Sahih)
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ recited Surat Al-A'raf in maghrib and split it between two rak'ahs. (Using translation from Nasāʾī 991)
[Machine] "Indeed, the Prophet ﷺ said, 'The mother of the Quran is a substitute and there is no substitute for it.' The two scholars agree on narrating this Hadith from Zubair with different wording. The narrators of this Hadith are mostly Imams, and all of them are trustworthy according to their conditions. There are multiple variations of this Hadith in different words that have not been mentioned. The chains of narration are authentic, and among them..."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever prays a prescribed prayer with the imam, let him recite the opening chapter of the book (i.e., Al-Fatiha) silently. And whoever reaches the mother of the book (i.e., Surah Al-Fatiha), then he has completed his prayer."
"Messenger of Allah prayed the Subh prayer, and he had difficulty with the recitation. When turned (after finishing) he said: 'I think that you are reciting behind your Imam?'" He said: "We said: 'Yes, Messenger of Allah, by Allah!' He said: 'Do not do that, except for Umm Al-Kitab, for there is no Salat for one who does not recite it.'" (Using translation from Tirmidhī 311)
[Machine] On the authority of the Prophet ﷺ , he said, "Do you all read in prayer with me?" We said, "Yes." He said, "Do not do so except with the opening chapter of the Book (Al-Fatiha) and among its verses."
[Machine] Abadah bin As-Samit stood by my side and recited alongside the imam while he was reciting. When he finished, I said, "O Abu Al-Walid, you recite and listen while he recites aloud?" He replied, "Yes, we used to recite with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ made a mistake. Then he praised Allah and said to us when he finished, 'Did anyone recite along with me?' We said, 'Yes.' He said, 'I am amazed by this person who argues with me in recitation. When the imam recites, do not recite except with the Ummul Quran (Surah Al-Fatiha), for there is no prayer for those who do not recite it.' This is a narration from Makhul from Mahmoud bin Ar-Rabi' who is esteemed. And if it is a narration from Ishaq bin Abi Farwah, I remembered it as a witness."
