ʿAisha (addressing me) said, "O son of my sister! The Prophet ﷺ never missed two prostrations (i.e. rakʿat) after the ʿAsr prayer in my house."

عَائِشَةُ ابْنَ أُخْتِي مَا تَرَكَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ السَّجْدَتَيْنِ بَعْدَ الْعَصْرِ عِنْدِي قَطُّ

Hafsa reported that when it was dawn, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ did not observe (any other prayers) but two short rak'ahs.

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِذَا طَلَعَ الْفَجْرُ لاَ يُصَلِّي إِلاَّ رَكْعَتَيْنِ خَفِيفَتَيْنِ

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ did not abandon at all observing two rak'ahs after the 'Asr in my house.

مَا تَرَكَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ رَكْعَتَيْنِ بَعْدَ الْعَصْرِ عِنْدِي قَطُّ

The Prophet ﷺ prohibited to offer prayer after the afternoon prayer except at the time when the sun is high up in the sky.

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ نَهَى عَنِ الصَّلاَةِ بَعْدَ الْعَصْرِ إِلاَّ وَالشَّمْسُ مُرْتَفِعَةٌ

"The Messenger of Allah ﷺforbade praying after 'Asr unless the sun was still white, clear and high."

نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ عَنِ الصَّلاَةِ بَعْدَ الْعَصْرِ إِلاَّ أَنْ تَكُونَ الشَّمْسُ بَيْضَاءَ نَقِيَّةً مُرْتَفِعَةً

"My father told me: 'Aishah said: 'The Messenger of Allah ﷺ never neglected to pray two Rak'ahs after 'Asr in my house.'"

عَائِشَةُ مَا تَرَكَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ السَّجْدَتَيْنِ بَعْدَ الْعَصْرِ عِنْدِي قَطُّ

'Aishah said: "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ never entered upon me after 'Asr but he prayed them (the two Rak'ahs)."

عَائِشَةُ ؓ ا مَا دَخَلَ عَلَىَّ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ بَعْدَ الْعَصْرِ إِلاَّ صَلاَّهُمَا

"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ got distracted and did not pray the two Rak'ahs before 'Asr so he prayed them after 'Asr."

شُغِلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ عَنِ الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ قَبْلَ الْعَصْرِ فَصَلاَّهُمَا بَعْدَ الْعَصْرِ

“I asked Anas bin Malik about Qunut, and he said: ‘The Messenger of Allah ﷺ recited Qunut after Ruku’.’”

قَنَتَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ بَعْدَ الرُّكُوعِ

[AI] "She testified concerning the Messenger of Allah ﷺ that he never missed performing these two units of prayer except after Asr (afternoon prayer)."

أَنَّهَا شَهِدَتْ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ أَنَّهُ «لَمْ يَكُنْ عِنْدَهَا يَوْمًا إِلَّا صَلَّى هَاتَيْنِ الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ» قَالَ أَبُو مُحَمَّدٍ تَعْنِي بَعْدَ الْعَصْرِ

[AI] The translation of the given Arabic sentence into English is: "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ never left the two Rak'ahs (units of prayer) after Asr (the afternoon prayer) ever."

«مَا تَرَكَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ رَكْعَتَيْنِ بَعْدَ الْعَصْرِ قَطُّ»

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “No prayer should be offered after ʿAsr unless the sun is bright and still high.”

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لَا يُصَلَّى بَعْدَ الْعَصْرِ إِلا أَنْ تَكُونَ الشَّمْسُ بَيْضَاءَ مُرْتَفِعَةً

“Do not pray after ‘Asr unless you pray when the sun is still high.ʿ

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ لَا تُصَلُّوا بَعْدَ الْعَصْرِ إِلَّا أَنْ تُصَلُّوا وَالشَّمْسُ مُرْتَفِعَةٌ

ʿDo not pray after ‘Asr, unless you pray when the sun is still high.”

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّهُ قَالَ لَا تُصَلُّوا بَعْدَ الْعَصْرِ إِلا أَنْ تُصَلُّوا وَالشَّمْسُ مُرْتَفِعَةٌ

The Prophet ﷺ did not offer any (obligatory) prayer but he prayed two rakʿahs after it.

كَانَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ لَا يُصَلِّي صَلاةً إِلا صَلَّى بَعْدَهَا رَكْعَتَيْنِ

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ did not offer any prayer after which (nafl) prayer may be offered, but he prayed two rakʿahs after it.

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لَا يُصَلِّي صَلاةً يُصَلَّى بَعْدَهَا إِلا صَلَّى بَعْدَهَا رَكْعَتَيْنِ

[AI] The Messenger of Allahﷺ said, "There is no prayer after the dawn prayer except for two units."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لَا صَلَاةَ بَعْدَ طُلُوعِ الْفَجْرِ إِلَّا رَكْعَتَيْنِ

[AI] I prayed with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ at al-Abtah the Asr prayer as two rakahs.

صَلَّيْتُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ بِالْأَبْطَحِ الْعَصْرَ رَكْعَتَيْنِ.

[AI] I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ pray the Asr prayer at al-Abtah as two rakahs.

رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ صَلَّى بِالْأَبْطَحِ صَلَاةَ الْعَصْرِ رَكْعَتَيْنِ.

[AI] He prayed the afternoon prayer with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ at al-Abtah as two rak'ahs.

أَنَّهُ صَلَّى مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ بِالْأَبْطَحِ الْعَصْرَ رَكْعَتَيْنِ.

"My father told me: 'Aishah said: 'The Messenger of Allah ﷺ never neglected to pray two Rak'ahs after 'Asr in my house.'" (Using translation from Nasāʾī 574)

لِي عَائِشَةُ يَا ابْنَ أُخْتِي مَا تَرَكَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺالسَّجْدَتَيْنِ بَعْدَ الْعَصْرِ عِنْدِي قَطُّ

[AI] She said, "By Allah, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ never left praying two units after Asr prayer with me."

أَنَّهَا قَالَتْ وَاللهِ مَا تَرَكَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ رَكْعَتَيْنِ بَعْدَ الْعَصْرِ عِنْدِي قَطُّ

[AI] She said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ never failed to pray two rak'ahs after the afternoon prayer whenever he was with me on any day."

أَنَّهَا قَالَتْ مَا كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ عِنْدِي فِييَوْمٍ إِلَّا صَلَّى رَكْعَتَيْنِ بَعْدَ الْعَصْرِ

[AI] That the Prophet ﷺ never entered upon her after Asr prayer except that he would pray two voluntary units of prayer.

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ لَمْ يَدْخُلْ عَلَيْهَا قَطُّ بَعْدَ الْعَصْرِ إِلَّا رَكَعَ رَكْعَتَيْنِ

[AI] That the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , did not enter upon her (Aisha) after the Asr prayer except that he would pray two rak'ahs beside her.

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ لَمْ يَدْخُلْ عَلَيْهَا بَعْدَ صَلَاةِ الْعَصْرِ إِلَّا رَكَعَ عِنْدَهَا رَكْعَتَيْنِ

[AI] The Prophet ﷺ was occupied, so he performed the two units of prayer after Asr.

شُغِلَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ عَنِ الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ بَعْدَ الظُّهْرِ فَصَلَّاهُمَا بَعْدَ الْعَصْرِ

[AI] "Maimuna, the wife of the Prophet ﷺ, narrated that the Prophet ﷺ missed two units before Asr prayer, so he prayed them afterwards."

عَنْ مَيْمُونَةَ زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَاتَتْهُ رَكْعَتَانِ قَبْلَ الْعَصْرِ فَصَلَّاهُمَا بَعْدُ

[AI] "I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) perform the Asr prayer with two Raka'at (units) while sitting."

«رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ صَلَّى بِالْأَبْطَحِ صَلَاةَ الْعَصْرِ رَكْعَتَيْنِ»

“Do not pray after ‘Asr unless you pray when the sun is still high.ʿ (Using translation from Aḥmad 1073)

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «لَا تُصَلُّوا بَعْدَ الْعَصْرِ إِلَّا أَنْ تُصَلُّوا وَالشَّمْسُ مُرْتَفِعَةٌ»

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “No prayer should be offered after ʿAsr unless the sun is bright and still high.” (Using translation from Aḥmad 610)

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «لَا يُصَلَّى *الْعَصْرِ إِلَّا أَنْ تَكُونَ الشَّمْسُ مُرْتَفِعَةٌ»

We bear witness that 'Aishah said: Not a day passed but the Prophet ﷺ prayed two rak'ahs after the 'Asr prayer (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 1279)

عَنِ الْأَسْوَدِ وَمَسْرُوقٍ قَالَا نَشْهَدُ عَلَى عَائِشَةَ أَنَّهَا قَالَتْ «مَا مِنْ يَوْمٍ كَانَ يَأْتِي عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِلَّا صَلَّى بَعْدَ الْعَصْرِ رَكْعَتَيْنِ»

"I heard Masruq and Al-Aswad say: We bear witness that 'Aishah said: 'When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was with me after 'Asr, he would pray them (these two Rak'ahs).'" (Using translation from Nasāʾī 576)

سَمِعْتُ الْأَسْوَدَ وَمَسْرُوقًا قَالَا نَشْهَدُ عَلَى عَائِشَةَ أَنَّهَا قَالَتْ «مَا كَانَ يَوْمَهَا الَّذِي كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ عِنْدَهَا إِلَّا صَلَّى بَعْدَ الْعَصْرِ رَكْعَتَيْنِ»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ did not miss the two units of prayer after Asr in my house until he left this world.

«مَا تَرَكَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ بَعْدَ الْعَصْرِ فِي بَيْتِي حَتَّى فَارَقَ الدُّنْيَا»

[AI] "When the Messenger of Allah peace be upon him was busy with the two units after Dhuhr prayers, he performed them after Asr."

«لَمَّا شُغِلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ عَنِ الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ بَعْدَ الظُّهْرِ صَلَّاهُمَا بَعْدَ الْعَصْرِ»

"When the dawn appears, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ would only pray two short Rak'ahs." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 583)

«كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِذَا طَلَعَ الْفَجْرُ لَا يُصَلِّي إِلَّا رَكْعَتَيِ الْفَجْرِ»

Abu Huraira is reported to have said that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ prohibited to observe prayer after the 'Asr prayer till the sun is set, and after the dawn till the sun rises. (Using translation from Muslim 825)

«أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ نَهَى عَنِ الصَّلَاةِ بَعْدَ الْعَصْرِ»

[AI] "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade praying after Asr prayer."

«نَهَى رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ عَنِ الصَّلَاةِ بَعْدَ الْعَصْرِ»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "There is no prayer after the Fajr prayer except two Rak'ahs."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «لَا صَلَاةَ بَعْدَ صَلَاةِ الْفَجْرِ إِلَّا رَكْعَتَيْنِ»

[AI] "You used to perform a prayer that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ did not pray, and he used to forbid it." "He means the two rak'ahs after Asr prayer."

«إِنَّكُمْ لَتُصَلُّونَ صَلَاةً مَا كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يُصَلِّيهَا وَلَقَدْ كَانَ يَنْهَى عَنْهَا» «يَعْنِي الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ بَعْدَ الْعَصْرِ»

[AI] "I saw the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , performing two units of prayer in the afternoon."

«رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ بِالْأَبْطَحِ صَلَّى صَلَاةَ الْعَصْرِ رَكْعَتَيْنِ»

قال قَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ «مَا تَرَكَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ السَّجْدَتَيْنِ بَعْدَ الْعَصْرِ عِنْدِي قَطُّ»

[AI] Aisha did not have the Messenger of Allah ﷺ enter (upon her) after the Asr prayer except that they both prayed (together).

عَائِشَةُ مَا دَخَلَ عَلَيَّ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ بَعْدَ صَلَاةِ الْعَصْرِ إِلَّا صَلَّاهُمَا

"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ got distracted and did not pray the two Rak'ahs before 'Asr so he prayed them after 'Asr." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 580)

«شُغِلَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ عَنِ الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ قَبْلَ الْعَصْرِ فَصَلَّاهُمَا بَعْدَ الْعَصْرِ»

[AI] He used to supplicate after the bowing.

أَنَّهُ كَانَ يَقْنُتُ بَعْدَ الرُّكُوعِ

[AI] The Prophet ﷺ used to come to me every day after Asr prayer and pray two units (rak'ahs).

مَا كَانَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ يَأْتِينِي فِي يَوْمٍ بَعْدَ الْعَصْرِ إِلَّا صَلَّى رَكْعَتَيْنِ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to say, "There is no prayer after the dawn until two rak'ahs of Fajr."

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ كَانَ يَقُولُ لَا صَلَاةَ بَعْدَ طُلُوعِ الْفَجْرِ إِلَّا رَكْعَتَيِ الْفَجْرِ
