10. Baṣrans (2/27)
How did the tribes of Aslam, Ghifar, Muzaina (and I think he also said Juhaina and the narrator is in doubt about it) owe allegiance to you, whereas they plundered the pilgrims? Thereupon Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:" you were to say that Aslam, Ghifar, Muzaina and I think Juhaina are better than Banu Tamim, Banu 'Amir and Asad, Ghatfan, then would these people (of latter group of tribes) be in loss? He said: Yes. Thereupon he (the Holy Prophet) said: By Him in Whose Hand is my life, these people are better than Banu Tamim, Banu Amir, Asad and Ghatfan, and in this hadith of Abu Shaiba (these words are not found) that Muhammad (the narrator) had a doubt about. (Using translation from Muslim 2522a)
“When one Muslim wields his weapon against his brother, both of them are at the edge of Hell, and if one of them kills the other, they will both enter it.” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 3965)
[Machine] From the Prophet ﷺ, he said: Gabriel and Michael came to me, and Gabriel said: Recite the Qur'an on one letter. Then Michael said: Increase it. He said: Recite it on seven letters, all of which are comprehensive and sufficient as long as a verse of mercy is not sealed with punishment or a verse of punishment is not sealed with mercy.
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ began to lead (the people) in the dawn prayer. He then signalled with his hand: (Stay) at your places. (Then he entered his home). He then returned while drops of water were coming down from him (from his body) and he led them in prayer. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 233)
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ said, "One of you should not say, 'I have fasted the whole Ramadan.'"
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ said about this man: "After these words, the Prophet ﷺ stood up as a speaker and said: 'As for this man whom you have spoken a lot about, he is a liar among thirty liars who will appear before the Hour. And there is no city that will not be overwhelmed by the fear of the Messiah."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to a people who were wearing unsheathed swords. He said, "May Allah curse the one who does this. Did I not forbid you from doing so?" Then he said, "When any one of you asks for his sword, let him look at it. If he intends to use it against his brother, let him sheath it, then he may use it."
AbdurRahman ibn AbuBakrah said that he told his father: O my father! I hear you supplicating every morning: "O Allah! Grant me health in my body. O Allah! Grant me good hearing. O Allah! Grant me good eyesight. There is no god but Thou." You repeat them three times in the morning and three times in the evening. He said: I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ using these words as a supplication and I like to follow his practice. The transmitter, Abbas, said in this version: And you say: "O Allah! I seek refuge in Thee from infidelity and poverty. O Allah! I seek refuge in Thee from punishment in the grave. There is no god but Thee". You repeat them three times in the morning and three times in the evening, and use them as a supplication. I like to follow his practice. He said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: The supplications to be used by one who is distressed are: "O Allah! Thy mercy is what I hope for. Do not abandon me to myself for an instant, but put all my affairs in good order for me. There is no god but Thou." Some transmitters added more than others. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 5090)

[Machine] The Prophet of Allah ﷺ passed by a man who was prostrating while heading to perform prayer. The man finished his prayer and the Prophet ﷺ returned to him while he was still in prostration. The Prophet ﷺ then stood up and asked, "Who will kill this man?" A man got up and hesitated, moving his hands, unsheathing his sword, and shaking it. He then said, "O Prophet of Allah, by my father and mother, how can I kill a man who is in prostration, testifying that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is His servant and messenger?" The Prophet ﷺ asked, "Who will kill this man?" Another man got up and said, "I will." He hesitated, moved his arms, unsheathed his sword, and shook it until his hand trembled. He then said, "O Prophet of Allah, how can I kill a man who is in prostration, testifying that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is His servant and messenger?" The Prophet ﷺ said, "By the One in whose hand is the life of Muhammad, if you had killed him, it would have been the first Fitnah (trial) and the last."
[Machine] "The Prophet ﷺ said: Fast when you see the new moon and break your fast when you see it. But if it is cloudy for you, then complete the month as thirty days. And the month should be like this and like this and like this and tie it securely."
[Machine] "I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "Whoever honors the authority of Allah in this world, Allah will honor him on the Day of Judgment. And whoever humiliates the authority of Allah in this world, Allah will humiliate him on the Day of Judgment."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was given some dinars, so he began to clasp them in his hand, one by one. Then he looked to his right, as if he was signaling someone to come forward and give. Affan said in his narration: He was signaling someone to come forward and give, and there was a black man with a twisted garment between his eyes, showing the trace of prostration. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ asked, "What have you done with the division of the wealth?" He became angry and said, "Who will take charge of you after me?". They asked, "Shall we kill him, O Messenger of Allah?" He said, "No." Then he said to his companions, "This man and his companions will pass through the religion like an arrow passes through its target. They will not hold onto anything from Islam."
[Machine] Abu Bakrah came and found the Prophet ﷺ in the state of ruku (bowing) in prayer. He heard the sound of Abu Bakrah's sandals as he approached, intending to catch up with the rakah (unit of prayer). When the Prophet ﷺ finished the prayer and stood up, he asked, "Who was striving?" Abu Bakrah replied, "It was me." The Prophet ﷺ said, "May Allah increase your eagerness, and do not repeat it."
[Machine] He witnessed the Prophet ﷺ on his mule while they brought a pregnant woman. She said, "She committed adultery or fornication, so stone her." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to her, "Cover yourself with the covering of Allah." So she returned. Then the second woman came and the Prophet ﷺ was on his mule. She said, "Stone her, O Prophet of Allah." He said, "Cover yourself with the covering of Allah." So she returned. Then the third woman came and he was standing until she took hold of the reins of his mule. She said, "I adjure you by Allah, will you not stone her?" He said, "Go until you give birth." So she went and delivered a boy. Then she came back and spoke to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. Then he said to her, "Go and purify yourself from the blood." So she went. Then she came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, "Indeed, she has purified herself." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent women and ordered them to examine the woman. So they came and testified to the Messenger of Allah's ﷺ purity. He ordered her to go to Hufayrah to spend her waiting period. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came with the Muslims and took a stone similar to a chickpea and threw it. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ faced the stone and said to the Muslims, "Throw it and beware of its face." When it was extinguished, he ordered it to be taken out and prayed over it. Then he said, "If its reward were divided among the people of the Hijaz, it would be sufficient for them."

[Machine] Narrated by the Prophet ﷺ, he said: "People will be carried on the bridge (i.e., the Sirat) on the Day of Judgment, and they will stumble and fall on both sides of the bridge. The stakes (i.e., people) will collide with each other, and the spikes (i.e., people) will collide with each other in the fire. Allah will save whom He wills by His mercy. Then, permission will be given to the angels, prophets, and martyrs to intercede, and they will intercede and bring out people from the fire. They will intercede and bring out people from the fire continuously, in addition to Ash-Shaf'anu, who will also intercede and bring out people from the fire, except for those in whose hearts there is even an atom's weight of Faith." Abu 'Abdur-Rahman said: Muhammad bin Aban informed us on the authority of Sa'id bin Zaid, with a similar narration.

"O Messenger of Allah! Which of the people is the best?" He said: "He whose life is long and his deeds are good." He said: "Then which of the people is the worst?" He said: "He whose life is long and his deeds are bad." (Using translation from Tirmidhī 2330)
[Machine] The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ told me something he heard, saying: "The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was fond of righteous dreams and would inquire about them. One day, he asked: 'Who among you has seen a dream?' A man replied: 'I have, O Messenger of Allah, I saw as if scales descended from the sky and you were weighed against Abu Bakr, and you outweighed him. Then Abu Bakr was weighed against Umar and Abu Bakr outweighed Umar. Then Umar was weighed against Uthman and Umar outweighed Uthman. Then the scales were lifted.' So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ pondered over it and said: 'The leadership comes after Prophethood, then Allah gives the kingdom to whomever He wills.' Affan said that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was pleased with it, while Hammad said that it saddened him."

[Machine] "Verily, it is narrated from the Prophet of Allah, may peace and blessings be upon him, that indeed there will emerge from my nation people who are fierce and harsh, with eloquent tongues in reciting the Quran, but their understanding does not go beyond their throats. Therefore, when you encounter them, oppose and condemn them. And when you encounter them again, oppose and condemn them again. For the one who fights against them is rewarded."

He heard his father say following the prayer: "Allahumma inni a'udhu bika minal-kufri wal-faqri, wa 'adhabil-qabri (O Allah, I seek refuge with You from Kufr, poverty and the torment of the grave.)" I started to recite them and he said: "O my son, where did you learn these words?" I said: "O my father, I heard you saying this supplication at the end of the prayer, and I learned them from you." He said: "Continue to recite them, O my son, for the Prophet of Allah [SAW] used to say this supplication at the end of the prayer." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 5465)

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , used to lead the people in prayer, and Hassan ibn Ali would climb on his back when he prostrated. He did this more than once, so they said to him, "By Allah, you do something that we have not seen you do to anyone else." Al-Mubarak said that he mentioned something and then said, "Indeed, this son of mine is a leader, and Allah will reconcile through him between two factions of the Muslims." Hassan said, "By Allah, after he becomes a leader, not even a drop of blood will be shed in his caliphate."

[Machine] I heard a servant of the family of Abi Musa Al-Ash'ari, who was called Abu Abdullah, saying: I heard Sa'id ibn Abi Al-Hasan Al-Basri narrating from Abu Bakrah that he was invited to testify once, so he came to the house. A man from his gathering stood up for him and said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ prohibited us, when a man stands up for another man from his gathering, to sit in it and for the man to wipe his hand on the garment of someone who does not possess it."

[Machine] My father narrated to me in this mosque, which is the mosque of Basra, that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "A group from my Ummah will settle in a land called Busrat, where their numbers will increase and their palm trees will flourish. Then the Banu Qantura will come, with their bright faces and small eyes, until they settle on a bridge called Dijlah. The Muslims will then be divided into three groups. One group will take hold of the camels' tails and move towards the desert and perish. Another group will have doubt and will deviate from the right path, so they will disbelieve. These two groups are equal. The third group will put their families on their backs and fight, and they will be martyred. Allah will grant victory to the remaining group."

[Machine] "When that day arrived, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ mounted his camel and stopped. He asked, 'Do you know what day is this?' Then he mentioned the meaning of the hadith narrated by Ibn Abi 'Adiyy and said, 'Know that the witness who informs the absent one is better than the one who informs only once, and the witness who is closer is better than the one who is farther.' Then he leaned towards his camel and headed towards the spoils, and divided them between two men, giving three sheep to one and three sheep to the other."

[Machine] He (the Prophet) came while the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was in ruku' (bowing in prayer), so he (the Prophet) performed ruku' outside of the row (of worshippers), and then he walked towards the row (of worshippers). The Messenger of Allah ﷺ began to lead (the people) in the dawn prayer. He then signalled with his hand: (Stay) at your places. (Then he entered his home).
Woe be to thee, you have broken the neck of your friend, you have broken the neck of your friend-he said this twice. If one of you has to praise his friend at all, he should say: I think (him to be) so and Allah knows it well and I do not know the secret of the heart and Allah knows the destined end, and I cannot testify his purity against Allah but (he appears) to be so and so. (Using translation from Muslim 3000a)

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ prohibited throwing stones. However, his cousin did so and he asked him, "What about this?" (meaning, why did he throw the stone). Then, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Should I not inform you that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ prohibited it, while you are still throwing stones? By Allah, I will not speak to you in Arabic as long as I live, or as long as I remain, or something similar to this."

Both of my ears heard the Messenger of Allah saying this: He who claimed the fatherhood of anyone else besides his real father knowingly (committed a great sin) ;Paradise is forbidden to him. [Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying: "The fragrance of Paradise can be smelled from a distance of a journey of one hundred years, and there is no servant who unjustly kills a soul with a covenant except that Allah prohibits Paradise for him and its fragrance will not reach him." Abu Bakrah said, "May Allah make me deaf if I did not hear the Prophet ﷺ saying this."
