"The Prophet said to me: 'If you swear an oath, and you see something that is better, then do that which is better and offer expiation for your oath.'" (Using translation from Nasāʾī 3789)
During the lifetime of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) I was shooting some arrows when an eclipse of the sun tok place. I, therefore , threw them (the arrows) away and said: I must see how the Messenger of Allah ﷺ acts in a solar eclipse today. So I came to him; he was standing (in prayer) raising his hands, glorifying Allah, praising Him, acknowledging that He is the only Deity, and making supplication till the sun was clear. He then recited two surahs and prayed two rak'ahs. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 1195)
Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "(O ʿAbdur-Rahman!) Do not seek to be a ruler, for, if you are given the authority of ruling without your asking for it, then Allah will help you; but if you are given it by your asking, then you will be held responsible for it (i.e. Allah will not help you ) . And if you take an oath to do something and later on find another thing, better than that, then do what is better and make expiation for (the dissolution of) your oath."

[Machine] "I found in a book written by my father, and I have the greatest knowledge that I heard it from him, that Ali ibn Abdullah narrated to us, who narrated to us Nasih ibn al-Ala', who is also known as Abu al-Ala', the freed slave of Banu Hashim, who narrated to us Ammar ibn Abi Ammar, the freed slave of Banu Hashim, that he passed by Abdur Rahman ibn Samurah while he was at the banks of Umm Abdulah, and the water was flowing with his slave girl and his followers. Ammar said to him, 'O Aba Sa'id, it is Friday.'
