“The Prophet ﷺ commanded me, when I was suffering, from live, to shave my head and fast for three days or feed six poor persons. He knew that I did not have an animal I could sacrifice.” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 3080)

«أَمَرَنِي النَّبِيُّ ﷺ حِينَ آذَانِي الْقَمْلُ أَنْ أَحْلِقَ رَأْسِي ثُمَّ أَصُومَ ثَلَاثَةَ أَيَّامٍ أَوْ أَطْعِمَ سِتَّةَ مَسَاكِينٍ وَقَدْ عَلِمَ أَنَّهُ لَيْسَ عِنْدِي مَا أَنْسُكُ بِهِ»

[AI] Narrated from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , a hadith that contains no disagreement. He narrated from Ka'b bin 'Ujrah who said that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever visits a sick person, they have delved into mercy. When they sit beside them, they are seeking intercession in it." He said that one can say to their companions, "Let us seek intercession, if Allah wills."

حَدِّثْنَا عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ حَدِيثًا لَيْسَ فِيهِ اخْتِلَافٌ فَحَدَّثَ عَنْ كَعْبِ بْنِ عُجْرَةَ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «مَنْ عَادَ مَرِيضًا خَاضَ فِي الرَّحْمَةِ فَإِذَا جَلَسَ عِنْدَهُ اسْتَشْفَعَ فِيهَا» قَالَ يَقُولُ لِأَصْحَابِهِ اسْتَشْفَعْنَا إِنْ شَاءَ اللهُ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "O Ka'ab bin 'Ujrah, may Allah protect you from the rulers who come after me, whoever enters upon them and believes in their lies, and supports them in their injustice, is not from me and I am not from him, and he will not come to the pond (in Paradise)."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «يَا كَعْبُ بْنَ عُجْرَةَ أَعَاذَكَ اللهُ مِنْ أُمَرَاءَ يَكُونُونَ بَعْدِي مَنْ دَخَلَ عَلَيْهِمْ فَصَدَّقَهُمْ بِكَذِبِهِمْ وَأَعَانَهُمْ عَلَى ظُلْمِهِمْ فَلَيْسَ مِنِّي وَلَسْتُ مِنْهُ وَلَنْ يَرِدُ عَلَى الْحَوْضِ»

[AI] I was with the Prophet ﷺ when he mentioned a trial, so he brought it closer. Then a masked man passed by and said, "This is the truth today." So, I stood up and held him by his two fingers, and I turned his face towards the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, "O Messenger of Allah, is this him?" He said, "Yes." It was Uthman ibn Affan.

كُنْتُ عِنْدَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَذَكَرَ فِتْنَةً فَقَرَّبَهَا فَمَرَّ رَجُلٌ مُقَنَّعٌ فَقَالَ «هَذَا يَوْمَئِذٍ عَلَى الْحَقِّ» فَقُمْتُ إِلَيْهِ فَأَخَذْتُ بِضَبْعَيْهِ فَأَقْبَلْتُ بِوَجْهِهِ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ هَذَا؟ قَالَ «نَعَمْ» فَإِذَا هُوَ عُثْمَانُ بْنُ عَفَّانَ

[AI] I was sitting with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ as he was talking to us about trials when a masked man passed by and said, "On this day, he and his companions are on the right path." So, I stood up and followed him, then I removed the mask from his head and it was revealed to be Uthman ibn Affan. I said, "O Messenger of Allah, is this him?" He ﷺ said, "Yes."

كُنْتُ جَالِسًا عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ وَهُوَ يُحَدِّثُنَا عَنِ الْفِتَنِ فَمَرَّ رَجُلٌ مُقَنَّعٌ فَقَالَ «هَذَا يَوْمَئِذٍ وَأَصْحَابُهُ عَلَى الْهُدَى» فَقُمْتُ فَلَحِقْتُهُ فَكَشَفْتُ الْقِنَاعَ عَنْ رَأْسِهِ فَإِذَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ عَفَّانَ قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ هَذَا؟ قَالَ «نَعَمْ»

[AI] Abu Al-Yasar Ka'b bin Amr died in the year fifty-five in Medina.

«مَاتَ أَبُو الْيَسَرِ كَعْبُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو سَنَةَ خَمْسٍ وَخَمْسِينَ بِالْمَدِينَةِ»

[AI] What did he do and did he get killed? I said, "Allah is more honorable and victorious than that." He said, "What do you want from me?" I said, "It's a favor for you, but the Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade your killing." He said, "I am not the first one to be sentenced to death, so I ran away and brought him to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ."

مَا فَعَلَ وَهَلْ أَصَابَهُ الْقَتْلُ؟ قُلْتُ اللهُ أَعَزُّ لَهُ وَأَنْصَرُ مِنْ ذَلِكَ قَالَ مَا تُرِيدُ إِلَيَّ؟ قُلْتُ إِسَارٌ لَكِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ نَهَى عَنْ قَتَلِكَ قَالَ لَسْتُ أَوَّلَ صِلَبهِ فَأَسَرْتُهُ ثُمَّ جِئْتُ بِهِ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ

[AI] A woman came to me to buy some dates, so I said to her, "Indeed, there are better dates than these in the house." She entered the house with me, and I inclined towards her, winked at her, and kissed her. Then, I gave her some dates in my hand and went to Abu Bakr and mentioned it to him. He said, "Keep this to yourself and do not tell anyone." I couldn't bear it, so I went to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and mentioned it to him. He said, "Did you engage in combat with the enemy and betray his trust with something like this?" Until I wished that I had not embraced Islam except at that moment, to the extent that I thought I was one of the dwellers of Hell. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ remained silent for a long time, then Allah revealed to him, {Establish prayer at the two ends of the day} until the end of the verse. Abu Al-Yasar said, "So I went to him and recited it to him." His companions asked him, "O Messenger of Allah, is it specific to you or for people in general?" He ﷺ said, "No, it is for people in general."

أَتَتْنِي امْرَأَةٌ تَبْتَاعُ مِنِّي تَمْرًا فَقُلْتُ إِنَّ فِي الْبَيْتِ تَمْرًا أَطْيَبُ مِنْهُ فَدَخَلَتْ مَعِي الْبَيْتَ فَأَهْوَيْتُ إِلَيْهَا فَغَمَزْتُهَا وَقَبَّلْتُهَا فَأُسْقِطَ فِي يَدَيَّ فَأَتَيْتُ أَبَا بَكْرٍ فَذَكَرْتُ ذَلِكَ لَهُ فَقَالَ اسْتُرْ عَلَى نَفْسِكَ وَلَا تُخْبِرْ أَحَدًا فَلَمْ أَصْبِرْ فَأَتَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فَذَكَرْتُ ذَلِكَ لَهُ فَقَالَ «أَخَلَفْتَ غَازِيًا فِي أَهْلِهِ بِمِثْلِ هَذَا؟» حَتَّى تَمَنَّيْتُ أَنِّي لَمْ أَكُنْ أَسْلَمْتُ إِلَّا تِلْكَ السَّاعَةِ حَتَّى ظَنَنْتُ أَنِّي مِنْ أَهْلِ النَّارِ فَأَطْرَقَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ طَوِيلًا ثُمَّ أَوْحَى اللهُ إِلَيْهِ {أَقِمِ الصَّلَاةَ طَرَفَيِ النَّهَارِ} إِلَى آخِرِ الْآيَةِ قَالَ أَبُو الْيَسَرِ فَأَتَيْتُهُ فَقَرَأَهَا عَلِيَّ فَقَالَ أَصْحَابُهُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَلَهُ خَاصَّةً أَوْ لِلنَّاسِ عَامَّةً؟ قَالَ «بَلْ لِلنَّاسِ عَامَّةً»

[AI] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying: "Whoever shows kindness to a person who faces hardships or relieves him from it, Allah will shade him in His shade on the Day when there will be no shade except His shade."

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «مَنْ أَنْظَرَ مُعْسِرًا أَوْ وَضَعَ عَنْهُ أَظَلَّهُ اللهُ فِي ظِلِّهِ يَوْمَ لَا ظِلَّ إِلَّا ظِلُّهُ»

[AI] The Prophet ﷺ said, "Whoever wants to be shaded from the immediate heat of Hell, let him look after an orphan or help a person in distress."

قَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «مَنْ سَرَّهُ أَنْ يَسْتَظِلَّ مِنْ فَوْرِ جَهَنَّمَ فَلْيَنْظُرْ غَرِيمًا أَوْ يَدَعْ لِمُعْسِرٍ»

[AI] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "Whoever provides financial relief or grants respite to a debtor, Allah will provide shade for him on the Day when there will be no shade except His shade."

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «مَنْ أَنْظَرَ مُعْسِرًا أَوْ وَضَعَ عَنْهُ أَظَلَّهُ اللهُ يَوْمَ لَا ظِلَّ إِلَّا ظِلُّهُ»

[AI] I heard a buzzing sound in my head, so I went to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and asked him about it. Allah ﷻ revealed the verse, "So whoever of you is ill or has an ailment on his scalp [necessitating shaving], then [he should offer] compensation [for fasting] or charity or sacrifice." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ called me and said, "Do you have the means to divide it among six poor people?" And the division is three sa's. "Or, [can you feed] a sheep or fast for three days?" So I said, "O Messenger of Allah, choose for me." He said, "Feed six poor people."

آذَانِي هَوَامُّ رَأْسِي فَأَتَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فَسَأَلْتُهُ عَنْ ذَلِكَ فَأَنْزَلَ اللهُ ﷻ {فَمَنْ كَانَ مِنْكُمْ مَرِيضًا أَوْ بِهِ أَذًى مِنْ رَأْسِهِ فَفِدْيَةٌ مِنْ صِيَامٍ أَوْ صَدَقَةٍ أَوْ نُسُكٍ} فَدَعَانِي رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ «هَلْ عِنْدَكَ فَرَقٌ تَقْسِمُهُ بَيْنَ سِتَّةِ مَسَاكِينٍ» وَالْفَرَقُ ثَلَاثَةُ آصُعٍ «أَوْ نُسُكُ شَاةٍ أَوْ تَصُومُ ثَلَاثَةَ أَيَّامٍ؟» فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ خِرْ لِي قَالَ «أَطْعِمْ سِتَّةَ مَسَاكِينٍ»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever relieves a believer's distress, Allah will relieve his distress on the Day of Judgment. And whoever covers a believer's shame, Allah will cover his shame. And whoever eases the difficulty of a believer, Allah will ease his difficulty."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «مَنْ نَفَّسَ عَنْ مُؤْمِنٍ كُرْبَةً نَفَّسَ اللهُ عَنْهُ كربةً يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ وَمَنْ سَتَرَ عَلَى مُؤْمِنٍ عَوْرَتَهُ سَتَرَ اللهُ عَلَيْهِ عَوْرَتَهُ وَمَنْ فَرَّجَ عَنْ مُؤْمِنٍ كُرْبَةً فَرَّجَ اللهُ عَنْهُ كُرْبَةً»

[AI] "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ ordered me to shave my head and sacrifice a sheep."

«أَمَرَنِي رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَنْ أَحْلِقَ رَأْسِي وَأَفْدِيَ بِشَاةٍ»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ entered upon us and said, "Who is here? Can you hear me? Verily, after me there will be leaders who will do acts of disobedience to Allah. Whoever participates in their actions and helps them in their oppression, he is not from me and I am not from him. And whoever does not participate in their actions and does not support them in their oppression, he is from me and I am from him."

دَخَلَ عَلَيْنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ «مَنْ هَهُنَا؟ هَلْ تَسْمَعُونَ؟ إِنْ مِنْ بَعْدِي أُمَرَاءُ يَعْمَلُونَ بِغَيْرِ طَاعَةِ اللهِ فَمَنْ شَارَكَهُمْ فِي عَمَلِهِمْ وَأَعَانَهُمْ عَلَى ظُلْمِهِمْ فَلَيْسَ مِنِّي وَلَسْتُ مِنْهُ وَمَنْ لَمْ يُشَارِكْهُمْ فِي عَمَلِهِمْ وَلَمْ يُعِنْهُمْ عَلَى ظُلْمِهِمْ فَهُوَ مِنِّي وَأَنَا مِنْهُ»

[AI] I slaughtered a sheep.

«ذَبَحْتُ شَاةً»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came out to us and said, "Indeed, there will be rulers after me who will be given authority from pulpits. When they descend, you will accuse them of embezzlement, and their hearts will accuse you of hypocrisy. Whoever believes in them when they lie and supports them in their oppression is not from me, and I am not from him. He will not meet me at the pond. But whoever does not believe in them when they lie and does not support them in their oppression is from me and I am from him. He will meet me at the pond."

خَرَجَ عَلَيْنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ «إِنَّهَا سَتَكُونُ عَلَيْكُمْ أُمَرَاءُ مِنْ بَعْدِي يُعْطُونَ بِالْحِكْمَةِ عَلَى مَنَابِرَ فَإِذَا نَزَلُوا اخْتَلَسْتَ مِنْهُمْ وَقُلُوبُهُمْ أَنْتَنُ مِنَ الْجِيَفِ فَمَنْ صَدَّقَهُمْ بِكَذِبِهِمْ وَأَعَانَهُمْ عَلَى ظُلْمِهِمْ فَلَيْسَ مِنِّي وَلَسْتُ مِنْهُ وَلَا يَرِدُ عَلَى الْحَوْضِ وَمَنْ لَمْ يُصَدِّقْهُمْ بِكَذِبِهِمْ وَلَمْ يُعِنْهُمْ عَلَى ظُلْمِهِمْ فَهُوَ مِنِّي وَأَنَا مِنْهُ وَسَيَرِدُ عَلَى الْحَوْضِ»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Fasting is a shield, and charity extinguishes sin just as water extinguishes fire."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «الصَّوْمُ جُنَّةٌ وَالصَّدَقَةُ تُطْفِيءُ الْخَطِيئَةَ كَمَا يُطْفِئُ الْمَاءُ النَّارَ»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "If you have rulers who lie and help them in their oppression, then that person is not from me and I am not from him. He will not reach the Pond (in Paradise). But if someone enters upon them and does not believe their lies and does not assist them in their oppression, then he is from me and I am from him. Oh Ka'ab ibn Ujrah, flesh and blood that grows from unlawful sources, all flesh and blood that grows from unlawful sources will not enter Paradise. The Fire is more deserving of them. Oh Ka'ab ibn Ujrah, Oh Ka'ab ibn Ujrah, you are like a walking perfume, spreading fragrance wherever you go. Your neck is ready to be freed (from Hellfire) and your neck is ready to be destroyed. Oh Ka'ab ibn Ujrah, prayer is evidence and fasting is a protection."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «إِذَا كَانَ عَلَيْكَ أُمَرَاءُ مَنْ دَخَلَ عَلَيْهِمْ فَصَدَّقَهُمْ بِكَذِبِهِمْ وَأَعَانَهُمْ عَلَى ظُلْمِهِمْ فَلَيْسَ مِنِّي وَلَا أَنَا مِنْهُ وَلَا يَرِدُ عَلَى الْحَوْضِ وَمَنْ دَخَلَ عَلَيْهِمْ فَلَمْ يُصَدِّقْهُمْ بِكَذِبِهِمْ وَلَمْ يُعِنْهُمْ عَلَى ظُلْمِهِمْ فَهُوَ مِنِّي وَأَنَا مِنْهُ يَا كَعْبُ بْنَ عُجْرَةَ إِنَّهُ لَا يَدْخُلُ الْجَنَّةَ لَحْمٌ وَلَا دَمٌ نَبَتَا مِنْ سُحْتٍ كُلُّ لَحْمٍ وَدَمٍ نَبَتَا مِنْ سُحْتٍ فَالنَّارُ أَوْلَى بِهِمَا يا كعب بن عجرة يَا كَعْبُ بْنَ عُجْرَةَ غَادِيَانِ رَائِحَانِ فَغَادٍ فِي فَكَاكِ رَقَبَتِهِ فَمُعْتِقُهَا وَغَادٍ فَمُوبِقُهَا يَا كَعْبُ بْنَ عُجْرَةَ الصَّلَاةُ بُرْهَانٌ وَالصَّوْمُ جُنَّةٌ»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "If you have rulers who enter upon them and believe in their lies and help them in their injustice, then they are not from me and I am not from them. They will not enter the Pond (in Paradise). And whoever enters upon them but does not believe in their lies and does not help them in their injustice, then he is from me and I am from him. O Ka'b ibn 'Ujrah, indeed, no flesh or blood that grows from unlawful things enters Paradise. Every flesh and blood that grows from unlawful things, then the Fire is more deserving of it. O Ka'b ibn 'Ujrah, O Ka'b ibn 'Ujrah, he who has a good smell and is free from scent remains free, and he who has a bad smell and is stuck in it remains stuck. O Ka'b ibn 'Ujrah, prayer is evidence and fasting is protection."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «إِذَا كَانَ عَلَيْكَ أُمَرَاءُ مَنْ دَخَلَ عَلَيْهِمْ فَصَدَّقَهُمْ بِكَذِبِهِمْ وَأَعَانَهُمْ عَلَى ظُلْمِهِمْ فَلَيْسَ مِنِّي وَلَا أَنَا مِنْهُ وَلَا يَرِدُ عَلَى الْحَوْضِ وَمَنْ دَخَلَ عَلَيْهِمْ فَلَمْ يُصَدِّقْهُمْ بِكَذِبِهِمْ وَلَمْ يُعِنْهُمْ عَلَى ظُلْمِهِمْ فَهُوَ مِنِّي وَأَنَا مِنْهُ يَا كَعْبُ بْنَ عُجْرَةَ إِنَّهُ لَا يَدْخُلُ الْجَنَّةَ لَحْمٌ وَلَا دَمٌ نَبَتَا مِنْ سُحْتٍ كُلُّ لَحْمٍ وَدَمٍ نَبَتَا مِنْ سُحْتٍ فَالنَّارُ أَوْلَى بِهِمَا يا كعب بن عجرة يَا كَعْبُ بْنَ عُجْرَةَ غَادِيَانِ رَائِحَانِ فَغَادٍ فِي فَكَاكِ رَقَبَتِهِ فَمُعْتِقُهَا وَغَادٍ فَمُوبِقُهَا يَا كَعْبُ بْنَ عُجْرَةَ الصَّلَاةُ بُرْهَانٌ وَالصَّوْمُ جُنَّةٌ»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "If you have rulers who are entered upon by people, and they believe their lies and support them in their wrongdoing, then they are not of me and I am not of them. They will not come to the Pool (in Paradise). But whoever is entered upon by them and does not believe their lies or support them in their wrongdoing, then he is of me and I am of him. O Ka'b bin Ajrah, certainly, flesh and blood that grows from unlawful sources will not enter Paradise. The fire is more deserving of them. O Ka'b bin Ajrah, O Ka'b bin Ajrah, you have the fragrance of a sweet basil. So, go and free your neck (from the punishment of slander) and smell its fragrance, and go and mislead and corrupt (the people) so that you may taste its fragrance. O Ka'b bin Ajrah, prayer is evidence (of one's faith) and fasting is a shield."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «إِذَا كَانَ عَلَيْكَ أُمَرَاءُ مَنْ دَخَلَ عَلَيْهِمْ فَصَدَّقَهُمْ بِكَذِبِهِمْ وَأَعَانَهُمْ عَلَى ظُلْمِهِمْ فَلَيْسَ مِنِّي وَلَا أَنَا مِنْهُ وَلَا يَرِدُ عَلَى الْحَوْضِ وَمَنْ دَخَلَ عَلَيْهِمْ فَلَمْ يُصَدِّقْهُمْ بِكَذِبِهِمْ وَلَمْ يُعِنْهُمْ عَلَى ظُلْمِهِمْ فَهُوَ مِنِّي وَأَنَا مِنْهُ يَا كَعْبُ بْنَ عُجْرَةَ إِنَّهُ لَا يَدْخُلُ الْجَنَّةَ لَحْمٌ وَلَا دَمٌ نَبَتَا مِنْ سُحْتٍ كُلُّ لَحْمٍ وَدَمٍ نَبَتَا مِنْ سُحْتٍ فَالنَّارُ أَوْلَى بِهِمَا يا كعب بن عجرة يَا كَعْبُ بْنَ عُجْرَةَ غَادِيَانِ رَائِحَانِ فَغَادٍ فِي فَكَاكِ رَقَبَتِهِ فَمُعْتِقُهَا وَغَادٍ فَمُوبِقُهَا يَا كَعْبُ بْنَ عُجْرَةَ الصَّلَاةُ بُرْهَانٌ وَالصَّوْمُ جُنَّةٌ»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ ascended the pulpit and said, "I saw the Night of Decree, but then I forgot it. Seek it in the last ten odd nights."

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ رَقِيَ الْمِنْبَرَ فَقَالَ «رَقِيتُ وَقَدْ عَلِمْتُ لَيْلَةَ الْقَدْرِ فَأُنْسِيتُهَا فَالْتَمِسُوهَا فِي الْعَشْرِ الْأَوَاخِرِ فِي وِتْرٍ»

[AI] He was hurt in his head, so the Prophet instructed him to shave his head and sacrifice a cow.

«أَنَّهُ أَصَابَهُ أَذًى فِي رَأْسِهِ فَأَمَرَهُ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ أَنْ يَحْلِقَ وَيَفْدِيَ بِبَقَرَةٍ»

[AI] What do you mention about the Prophet ﷺ ? He ordered him to offer a sacrifice, then guide it, and then drive it until he leaves it at Arafah with the people. Then he distributes it among the people. And that is what he does with the sacrifice.

لِلنَّبِيِّ ﷺ بِمَاذَا أَنْسُكُ؟ فَأَمَرَهُ أَنْ يَهْدِيَ هَدْيًا يُقَلِّدُهَا ثُمَّ يَسُوقُهَا حَتَّى يُوقِفَهَا بِعَرَفَةَ مَعَ النَّاسِ ثُمَّ يَدْفَعُ بِهَا مَعَ النَّاسِ وَكَذَلِكَ يَفْعَلُ بِالْهَدْيِ

[AI] About Urwah, he said that Abu al-Yasar Ka'ab ibn Amr ibn Abbad was one of the Ansar who witnessed the Battle of Uhud.

Verily, I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, 'Whoever gives respite to a debtor or waives his debt, he will be in the shade of Allah on the Day of Resurrection.'"

كَانَ لِأَبِي الْيَسَرِ عَلَى رَجُلٍ دَيْنٌ فَأَتَاهُ يَتَقَاضَاهُ فِي أَهْلِهِ فَقَالَ لِجَارِيَتِهِ قُولِي لَيْسَ هُوَ هَهُنَا فَسَمِعَ صَوْتَهُ فَقَالَ اخْرُجْ قَدْ سَمِعْتُ صَوْتَكَ فَخَرَجَ إِلَيْهِ فَقَالَ مَا حَمَلَكَ عَلَى مَا صَنَعْتَ؟ قَالَ الْعُسْرَةُ قَالَ اللهَ؟ قَالَ اللهُ قَالَ اذْهَبْ فَلَكَ مَا عَلَيْكَ إِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «مَنْ أَنْظَرَ مُعْسِرًا أَوْ وَضَعَ عَنْهُ كَانَ فِي ظِلِّ اللهِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ أَوْ كَنَفِ اللهِ»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever gives respite to a debtor or waives his debt, Allah will shade him in the shade of His Throne."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «مَنْ أَنْظَرَ مُعْسِرًا أَوْ وَضَعَ عَنْهُ أَظَلَّهُ اللهُ فِي ظِلِّ عَرْشِهِ»

When the people lined up, Jafar rode his horse, put on his armor, took the standard, and walked until he reached the people. Then he called out, 'Who will convey this to its owner?' A man from the people said, 'I will.' So he was sent with it. Then he advanced and struck with his sword until he was killed. The eyes of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ shed tears and he prayed Dhuhr with us. Then he entered and did not speak to us. Then 'Asr was established and he went out and prayed. Then he entered and did not speak to us. He did the same for Maghrib and 'Isha. He would come to us with his face when he prayed, and he would go out to us at Fajr at the time he used to leave. Abu 'Aamir Al-Ash'ari and I were sitting. He sat between us and said, 'Shall I not tell you about a dream that I saw? I entered Paradise and I saw Jafar with two wings, stained with blood, and Zaid facing him. Ibn Rawaha was with them, as if he were turning away from them. I will tell you about that. When Jafar advanced and saw the killing, he did not turn his face away, and Zaid also did not turn his face away, and Ibn Rawaha turned his face away.'"

أَبُو الْيَسَرِ الْأَنْصَارِيُّ كُنْتُ جَالِسًا عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ وَأَتَاهُ أَبُو عَامِرٍ الْأَشْعَرِيُّ فَقَالَ بَعَثَنِي فِي كَذَا وَكَذَا ثُمَّ أَتَيْتُ مُؤْتَةَ فَلَمَّا صَفَّ الْقَوْمُ رَكِبَ جَعْفَرٌ فَرَسَهُ وَلَبِسَ الدِّرْعَ وَأَخَذَ اللِّوَاءَ وَمَشَى حَتَّى أَتَى الْقَوْمَ ثُمَّ نَادَى مَنْ يُبَلِّغُ هَذِهِ صَاحِبَهَا؟ فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ مِنَ الْقَوْمِ أَنَا فَبَعَثَ بِهَا ثُمَّ تَقَدَّمَ فَضَرَبَ بِسَيْفِهِ حَتَّى قُتِلَ فَتَحَدَّرَتْ عَيْنَا رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ دُمُوعًا فَصَلَّى بِنَا الظُّهْرَ ثُمَّ دَخَلَ وَلَمْ يُكَلِّمْنَا ثُمَّ أُقِيمَتِ الْعَصْرُ فَخَرَجَ فَصَلَّى ثُمَّ دَخَلَ وَلَمْ يُكَلِّمْنَا فَفَعَلَ كَذَلِكَ فِي الْمَغْرِبِ وَالْعِشَاءِ فَدَخَلَ وَلَا يُكَلِّمُنَا وَكَانَ إِذَا صَلَّى أَقْبَلَ عَلَيْنَا بِوَجْهِهِ فَخَرَجَ عَلَيْنَا فِي الْفَجْرِ فِي السَّاعَةِ الَّتِي كَانَ يَخْرُجُ فِيهَا وَأَنَا وَأَبُو عَامِرٍ الْأَشْعَرِيُّ جُلُوسٌ فَجَلَسَ بَيْنَنَا وَقَالَ «أَلَا أُخْبِرُكُمْ عَنْ رُؤْيَا رَأَيْتُهَا؟ دَخَلْتُ الْجَنَّةَ فَرَأَيْتُ جَعْفَرًا ذَا جَنَاحَيْنِ مُضَرَّجَيْنِ بِالدِّمَاءِ وَزَيْدٌ مُقَابِلَهُ وَابْنُ رَوَاحَةَ مَعَهُمْ كَأَنَّهُ يُعْرِضُ عَنْهُمْ وَسَأُخْبِرُكُمْ عَنْ ذَلِكَ إِنَّ جَعْفَرًا حِينَ تَقَدَّمَ فَرَأَى الْقَتْلَ لَمْ يَصْرِفْ وَجْهَهُ وَزَيْدٌ كَذَلِكَ وَابْنُ رَوَاحَةَ صَرَفَ وَجْهَهُ»

I feared by Allah that I would tell you a story and then lie to you or promise you something and then break my promise. I used to be a companion of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and by Allah, I was in hardship.' He said, 'By Allah?' I said, 'Yes, by Allah.' He said, 'By Allah?' I said, 'Yes, by Allah.' He said, 'By Allah?' I said, 'Yes, by Allah.' So I forgot the page and erased the truth, and I said, 'If you find a verdict, then judge accordingly. Otherwise, you are free.' I bear witness with my two eyes and he put his fingers on his eyes, and I heard with my two ears and he put his fingers in his ears, and my heart felt it, and he pointed to his heart, that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Whoever looks after a person with a disability or treats him kindly, Allah will shade him on the Day when there is no shade except His shade.'"

خَرَجْتُ أَنَا وَأَبِي نَطْلُبُ الْعِلْمَ فِي هَذَا الْحَيِّ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَهْلِكُوا وَكَانَ أَوَّلَ مَنْ لَقِيَنَا أَبُو الْيَسَرِ السُّلَمِيُّ صَاحِبُ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ وَمَعَهُ غُلَامٌ لَهُ وَعَلَيْهِ بُرْدَةٌ وَعَلَى غُلَامِهِ بُرْدَةٌ وَمَعَافِرِيٌّ وَضِمَامَةُ مُصْحَفٍ فَقَالَ لَهُ أَبِي كَأَنِّي أَرَى فِي وَجْهِكَ سَعَفَةٌ مِنْ غَضِبٍ قَالَ نَعَمْ كَانَ لِي عَلَى فُلَانِ بْنِ فُلَانٍ الْحَرَامِيِّ مَالٌ فَأَتَيْتُ أَهْلَهُ فَقُلْتُ أَثَمَّ هُوَ؟ قَالُوا لَا فَخَرَجَ عَلِيَّ ابْنٌ لَهُ جَفْرٌ فَقُلْتُ لَهُ أَيْنَ أَبُوكَ؟ قَالَ سَمِعَ كَلَامَكَ فَدَخَلَ فِي أَرِيكَةِ أُمِّي فَقُلْتُ اخْرُجْ إِلَيَّ فَقَدْ عَلِمْتُ أَيْنَ أَنْتَ فَخَرَجَ إِلَيَّ فَقُلْتُ مَا حَمَلَكَ عَلَى أَنِ اخْتَبَأْتَ مِنِّي؟ قَالَ أَنَا وَاللهِ لِأُحَدِّثُكَ ثُمَّ لَا أَكْذِبُكَ خَشِيتُ وَاللهِ أَنْ أُحَدِّثَكَ فَأَكْذِبَكَ أَوْ أَعِدَكَ فَأُخْلِفَكَ وَكُنْتُ صَاحِبَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ وَكُنْتُ وَاللهِ مُعْسِرًا قَالَ آللَّهِ فَقُلْتُ آللَّهِ قَالَ آللَّهِ؟ فَقُلْتُ اللهِ قَالَ آللَّهِ؟ فَقُلْتُ اللهِ فَنَسَوْتُ الصَّحِيفَةَ فَمَحَوْتُ الْحَقَّ وَقُلْتُ إِنْ وَجَدْتَ قَضَاءً فَاقْضِ وَإِلَّا فَأَنْتَ فِي حَلٍّ فَأَشْهَدُ بَصُرَتْ عَيْنَايَ هَاتَانِ وَوَضَعَ إِصْبَعَيْهِ عَلَى عَيْنَيْهِ وَسَمِعَتْ أُذُنَايَ هَاتَانِ وَوَضَعَ إِصْبَعَيْهِ فِي أُذُنَيْهِ وَوَعَاهُ قَلْبِي هَذَا وَأَشَارَ إِلَى مَنَاطِ قَلْبِهِ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «مَنْ أَنْظَرَ مُعْسِرًا أَوْ وَضَعَ لَهُ أَظَلَّهُ اللهُ فِي ظِلِّهِ يَوْمَ لَا ظِلَّ إِلَّا ظِلُّهُ»

I said, "By Allah." He said, "By Allah?" I said, "By Allah." He said, "By Allah?" I said, "By Allah." Then I forgot about the sheet, and I erased the truth and said, "If you find a verdict, then judge, otherwise you are in no obligation." He testified with his eyesight by pointing his fingers to his eyes, and he testified with his hearing by placing his fingers in his ears, and he testified with his heart by pointing to the area of his heart where the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever protects someone in a difficult situation or provides for him, Allah will shade him in His shade on the Day when there is no shade but His shade."

"The Messenger of Allah [SAW] used to say: 'Allahumma inni a'udhu bika minal-hadmi, wa a'udhu bika minat-taraddi, wa a'udhu bika minal-gharaqi, wal-hariqi, wa a'udhu bika an yatakhabbatanish-shaitanu 'indal-mawti, wa a'udhu bika an amuta fi sabilika mudbiran, wa a'udhu bika an amuta ladigha (O Allah, I seek refuge in You from being crushed by a falling wall, and I seek refuge with You from drowning or being burned, and I seek refuge with You from being led astray by the Shaitan at the time of death, and I seek refuge with You from being killed for Your sake while fleeing the battlefield, and I seek refuge with You from dying of a scorpion sting.)'"
