0. Introduction (10/14)
[Machine] From the Messenger of Allah ﷺ who said, "While a man was admiring his two garments, Allah caused the earth to swallow him up, and he will continue to be swallowed by it until the Day of Resurrection." A young boy, whose name he mentioned and who was with him, said, "O Abu Hurayrah, was this the way the boy who was swallowed up used to walk?" Then he struck his hand and stumbled and almost broke it. Abu Hurayrah said to his two collarbones and to his mouth, "Indeed, We are sufficient for you against the mockers" [Quran 15:95].
[Machine] "I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbidding stone-throwing. A young man neglected this and thought that the elderly Shaykh was not paying attention to him, so he threw a stone. The Shaykh then said to him, 'Did I not tell you that I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbidding stone-throwing, and yet you still do it? By Allah, I will not witness your funeral, nor will I visit you when you are sick, and I will never speak to you again.' So I said to my companion who was known as Muhajir, 'Go to Khirash and ask him about it.' He went to him and asked him, and he narrated the incident to him."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade throwing stones and said, "It does not catch prey, nor does it injure an enemy. Rather, it breaks teeth and gouges eyes." So a man raised something between him and Sa'id, close to the ground, and asked, "Is this it? What is this?" Sa'id replied, "Shouldn't you see that I am telling you about the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , then you belittle it and I will never speak to you again."
[Machine] Abdullah ibn Mughaffal saw a man from his companions throwing stones, so he said to him: "Do not throw stones, for indeed the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to forbid it or dislike it. And he said, 'It does not cause harm to the enemy nor does it bring food as prey, but it can cause damage to the eye and break the tooth.'" Then he saw him afterwards still throwing stones, so he said to him: "Did I not inform you that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to forbid it, and here I see you still throwing stones? By Allah, I will never speak to you again."
[Machine] About the Prophet ﷺ , a man said: "So-and-so said this and that." Ibn Sirin said, "Let me tell you about the Prophet ﷺ . When I say something, I say it on his authority. I do not mention anyone else's words. I will never speak to you again."
When women ask permission for going to the mosque, do not prevent them. (Using translation from Muslim 442a)
[Machine] "The Prophet ﷺ forbade the exchange of two dirhams for one dirham. So-and-so said, 'I do not see anything wrong with this, exchanging one by one.' 'Ubadah said, 'I say what the Prophet ﷺ said, and I do not see any harm in it. By Allah, it will never darken me, nor you, saqf (roof).'"
[Machine] From the Prophet ﷺ, he said, "Do not approach women at night." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ faced a caravan and two men hurried to their families and both found other men with their wives.
[Machine] "When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ returned from a journey, he would stop at the mosque and then say, 'Do not engage with women at night.' Two men who had heard his statement then went to their respective homes and found each of their wives with another man."
[Machine] "He does not leave (the mosque) until he prays, for the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'No one should leave the mosque after the call to prayer except a hypocrite, except for a man who has a valid excuse and intends to come back to the mosque.' He said, 'My companions in Al-Harra said: 'So he (the man with a valid excuse) left (the mosque).' He said, 'He (the man with a valid excuse) continued to keep the remembrance of Allah in his heart until it was reported that he fell from his mount and his thigh was broken.'"
0.41 [Machine] Who doesn't want to bore people?
[Machine] "Indeed, hearts have their own vitality and affinity, and indeed, they have inclination and aversion. So, speak to people according to their reception of you."
[Machine] It is said, "Tell the people what they did not bring to you with their faces, and when they turn away, know that they have needs."
0.42 [Machine] The one who did not see the writing of the Hadith
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ said, "Do not write anything about me except the Quran. Whoever writes anything about me other than the Quran should erase it."
[Machine] From Abu Sa'id Al-Khudri, they sought permission from the Prophet ﷺ to write about him, but he did not permit them.
[Machine] He used to say, "Oh window, should I respond to you, meaning should I engage in conversation? I never intended for any conversation to be responded to me before."
Muhammad bin Ja'far narrated to us, from Shu'bah, from Amr bin Murrah who said: "I asked Abu Ubaidah bin Abdullah: 'Did you remember anything from Abdullah?' He said, 'No'" (Using translation from Tirmidhī 624)
لَا
[Machine] He heard the sound of the book, denied it, and reached out for it with his hand.
[Machine] Ibrahim used to dislike reading, meaning knowledge.
[Machine] "If I were to take a book, I would not have taken the Prophet's messages ﷺ."
[Machine] "To my Abdah, 'Do not make a book immortal within me.'"
[Machine] "Except for the depths of Muhammad, I have retained no other account; and when I memorized it, I erased it."
[Machine] I heard Sa'id ibn 'Abd al-'Aziz say, "I have never written a hadith."
[Machine] I asked Ubaydah for a piece of leather to write on it, so he said, "Oh Ibrahim, do not make me immortalize a book from me."
[Machine] "To write the Hadith in books and say it resembles the Qur'an."
[Machine] "That Ubeida called for his books and then erased them before his death, and he said: 'I fear that some people may come after me and not place them in their proper places.'"
[Machine] This knowledge remained valuable as men continued to receive it until it was published in newspapers, then carried or entered by people who were not qualified to do so.
[Machine] Al-Hasan used to write and dictate, while Ibn Sirin neither used to write nor dictate.
[Machine] Indeed, there are people who have a book that they admire, and they have not ceased with it until they brought it to me, and I have erased it. Then, he said, "The people of the book before you were destroyed because they embraced the books of their scholars and abandoned the book of their Lord."
[Machine] I said, "No". If I find a book to read, he said, "No".
[Machine] I said to Abu Sa'id al-Khudri, "Why don't you write us something, as we cannot memorize?" He replied, "No, we will not write for you, nor will we make it into a Quran. Rather, keep it from us just as we have kept it from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ."
[Machine] I heard Abu Hurairah saying, "Indeed, Abu Hurairah does not write nor is he written about."
[Machine] "He used to write down his father's saying, then Abu Musa saw it and erased it."
[Machine] Ibn Sirin said, "No, by Allah, I have never written a hadith."
[Machine] "So he set up a curtain between his council and the rest of his house." They said, "Therefore, his companions used to enter upon him and discuss matters in that place. Then Marwan came to his companions and said, 'I see nothing except that we have been deceived.' Then he approached me and I said, 'And what is that?' He said, 'I see nothing except that we have deceived you.' I said, 'And what is that?' He said, 'We have appointed a man who sits behind this curtain and writes down what you dictate and what you say.'"
[Machine] I said to Ibrahim, "Indeed, Salim, are you more knowledgeable than you?" He said, "Indeed, Salim used to write."
[Machine] "That the evildoers will be raised and the righteous will be placed. Behold! Among the signs of the Hour is that speech will be abundant, while actions will be hidden. Behold! Among the signs of the Hour is that the 'mathnawa' will be recited and no one will be able to change it." It was asked, "What is the 'mathnawa'?" He said, "Whatever is written in a book other than the Quran. So adhere to the Quran, for it will guide you and for it you will be rewarded, and from it you will be asked." I did not know who the man was, so I narrated this hadith afterwards in Hims, and a man from the people said to me, "Do you not know who he is?" I said, "No." He said, "That is Abdullah bin Umar."
[Machine] And he said, "Verily, those before you perished by following their books and neglecting their own book." Husayn said, "Indeed, if it was from the Quran or the Sunnah, he would not have erased it, but it was from the books of the People of the Book."
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ came with a shoulder carrying a book and said, "It is sufficient for a people to go astray that they desire what their Prophet came with over what another Prophet came with or what their book came with." Then Allah, the Almighty, revealed the verse {Is it not sufficient for them that We revealed to you the Book which is recited to them? Indeed in that is a mercy and reminder for a people who believe.} [Al-Ankabut 51].
[Machine] About his father, Abdullah said, "I saw a man with a paper in which it was written: Subhan Allah, Alhamdulillah, La ilaha illa Allah, Allahu Akbar. I asked him to give it to me, but he refused. Then, he promised to give it to me later. So, I came to Abdullah and found it with him. He said, 'What is in this book is innovation, temptation, and misguidance. Indeed, those who came before you were destroyed because of things like this. They wrote it and their tongues enjoyed it, and their hearts were filled with it.
