darimi:487Yazīd b. Hārūn > al-Jurayrī > Abū Naḍrah

[Machine] I said to Abu Sa'id al-Khudri, "Why don't you write us something, as we cannot memorize?" He replied, "No, we will not write for you, nor will we make it into a Quran. Rather, keep it from us just as we have kept it from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ."  

الدارمي:٤٨٧أَخْبَرَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ أَنبَأَنَا الْجُرَيْرِيُّ عَنْ أَبِي نَضْرَةَ قَالَ

قُلْتُ لِأَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ أَلَا تُكْتِبُنَا فَإِنَّا لَا نَحْفَظُ؟ فَقَالَ «لَا إِنَّا لَنْ نُكْتِبَكُمْ وَلَنْ نَجْعَلَهُ قُرْآنًا وَلَكِنِ احْفَظُوا عَنَّا كَمَا حَفِظْنَا نَحْنُ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ»
