7. Medinans (2/15)
[Machine] Narrated by one of the companions of the Prophet Muhammad, ﷺ , he said, "The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , intended to prohibit a certain type of sale. So we said, 'O Messenger of Allah, it is our livelihood.' He replied, 'Then it is not allowed.' And we used to be called middlemen. And he mentioned the Hadith."
7.4 [Machine] My father, Seriha Al Ghaffari, Hudhaifa bin Asid
Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to us all of a sudden as we were (busy in a discussion). He said: What do you discuss about? They (the Companions) said. We are discussing about the Last Hour. Thereupon he said: It will not come until you see ten signs before and (in this connection) he made a mention of the smoke, Dajjal, the beast, the rising of the sun from the west, the descent of Jesus son of Mary (Allah be pleased with him), the Gog and Magog, and land-slides in three places, one in the east, one in the west and one in Arabia at the end of which fire would burn forth from the Yemen, and would drive people to the place of their assembly. (Using translation from Muslim 2901a)
[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ or the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say that the angel enters the womb after it settles in the uterus for forty nights, or Sufyan said once or forty-five nights, and the angel says, "O Lord, is it a male or a female? Is it blessed or miserable?" Allah, the Almighty and Exalted, says, "Write down." So they write down its deeds, its lifespan, its fate, and its provision. Then the scroll is folded, and nothing is added or subtracted from what is in it.
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was in a room while we were sitting underneath it. He approached us and asked, "What are you discussing?" We replied, "The Hour." He said, "The Hour will not occur until you see ten signs: The sun rising from the west, the coming of the Beast, the smoke, the Antichrist, the animal, a fire that emerges from the bottom of Aden and drives people away, the descending of Jesus son of Mary, and Gog and Magog. One of the two men said, "The descent of Jesus son of Mary," and the other said, "A wind that will take them to the sea."
"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ looked out from a room, when we were talking about the Hour. He said: 'The Hour will not begin until ten signs appear: The rising of the sun from the west (place of its setting); Dajjal; the smoke; the beast; Gog and Magog people; the appearance of 'Eisa bin Maryam(as), the earth collapsing three times - once in the east, one in the west and one in the Arabian Peninsula; and fire that will emerge from the plain of Aden Abyan and will drive the people to the place of Gathering, stopping with them when they stop at night and when they stop to rest at midday." (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 4055)
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ informed about the death of the Negus (King of Abyssinia), and said: "Pray for your brother without being in his land."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , went out to them one day and said, "Pray upon your companion who has died outside of your lands." They said, "Who is it, O Messenger of Allah?" He said, "Suhmah al-Najashi." Azhar said, "Suhmah." And Azhar said, "My father al-Tufayl al-Laythi." And he narrated from Hudhayfah ibn Asid al-Ghifari.
[Machine] The Prophet of Allah ﷺ came one day and said, "Pray for your brother who has died in a land other than yours." They said, "O Messenger of Allah, who is he?" He said, "Suhmatah al-Najashi." So they stood up and prayed for him.
7.5 [Machine] Uqbah bin Al-Harith
I married a woman, then a black woman came to us and said: I breast-fed you both. I went to the Prophet and said: I married so and so and a black woman came to me and said: I breast-fed you both. He turned away from me so I came to him from the other side and said: She is lying. He said: "How can you be intimate with your wife when she says that she breast-fed you both? Leave her (divorce her)." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 3330)
[Machine] "She nursed both of you, so I approached the Prophet ﷺ and stood in front of him and spoke to him. He turned away from me, so I moved to his right, and he turned away from me. So I said, 'O Messenger of Allah, it is only a black woman.' He said, 'And what does that matter, when it is already been said?'"
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ brought Na'aman who had drank alcohol, so the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ordered those in the house to hit him with their hands, shoes, and sandals. I was one of those who hit him.
[Machine] I prayed with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ during the afternoon prayer, and when he finished, he quickly got up and entered the area where some of his wives were. Then he came out and saw the surprise on the people's faces due to his quickness. He said, "I remembered something while I was praying that made me dislike staying or spending the night with us, so I ordered for his portion to be divided." Abu Ahmad Al-Zubayri narrated to us, he said: Umar ibn Saeed narrated to us from Ibn Abi Mulaykah from Uqbah ibn Al-Harith. He said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ left after performing the afternoon prayer and he mentioned its meaning with us.
That he had married Um Yahya bint Abu Ihab. He said. "A black slave-lady came and said, 'I suckled you both.' I then mentioned that to the Prophet ﷺ who turned his face aside." ʿUqba further said, "I went to the other side and told the Prophet ﷺ about it. He said, 'How can you (keep her as your wife) when the lady has said that she suckled both of you (i.e. you and your wife?)" So, the Prophet ﷺ ordered him to divorce her. (Using translation from Bukhārī 2659)
[Machine] He informed him or heard from him, if he did not disclose to him that he married the daughter of Abu Ihab, so a black slave woman said, "I have breastfed both of you." So I went to the Prophet ﷺ and mentioned that to him, but he turned away from me. So I went to him again and mentioned it to him, and he said, "How could that be when she claimed that she breastfed both of you?" So he forbade me from her.
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ was brought Al Nu'ayman or the son of Al Nu'ayman while he was drunk. He then became aggressive towards the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , and he ordered those in the house to beat him. They beat him as ordered. Afan (the narrator of the hadith) said that this incident caused the Prophet ﷺ great hardship. Uqbah then said, "I was one of those who beat him."
7.6 [Machine] Aws bin Abi Aws al-Thaqafi, also known as Aws bin Hudhaifa
[Machine] I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ performing ablution before approaching a crowd.
[Machine] "He used to bring his sandals while he was praying, then he put them on and said, 'I have seen the Messenger of Allah ﷺ praying in his sandals.'"
[Machine] I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ perform ablution, wiped over his socks, then stood up for prayer.
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed with his shoes on and wiped them three times.
[Machine] I heard Aws say, "I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ with a delegation from Thaqif. We were in a dome, and someone other than me and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood up. A man came and walked towards him, and said, 'Go and kill him.' Then he asked, 'Does he not testify that there is no god but Allah?' He said, 'Yes, but he says it for seeking refuge.' So the man said, 'Return him.' Then he said, 'I have been commanded to fight against people until they testify that there is no god but Allah. Once they say it, their lives and wealth become forbidden to me except for its right.'"
[Machine] On the authority of the Prophet ﷺ , he said, "When it is Friday, one of you should wash his head and bathe, then go early or soon, listen attentively and remain quiet. For every step he takes, he will receive the reward of fasting a year and praying a year."
The Prophet ﷺ said: Among the most excellent of your days is Friday; on it Adam was created, on it he died, on it the last trumpet will be blown, and on it the shout will be made, so invoke more blessings on me that day, for your blessings will be submitted to me. The people asked: Messenger of Allah, how can it be that our blessings will be submitted to you while your body is decayed? He replied: Allah, the Exalted, has prohibited the earth from consuming the bodies of Prophets. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 1047)
“We were sitting with the Prophet ﷺ and he was narrating to us and reminding us, when a man came and spoke privately to him. He said: ‘Take him away and kill him.’ When the man turned away, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ called him back and said: ‘Do you bear witness that none has the right to be worshiped but Allah?’ He said, ‘Yes.’ He said: ‘Then go and let him go, for I have been commanded to fight the people until they say: La ilaha illallah, then if they do that, their blood and wealth are forbidden to me.’” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 3929)
[Machine] "We used to sit with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ as he would speak to us and advise us. When a person came to him and mentioned something similar to it."
[Machine] I saw my father one day performing ablution (wudu'), and he wiped over the shoes. So I said to him, "Do you wipe over them?" He said, "This is how I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ doing it."
[Machine] I was among the delegation who came to the Prophet ﷺ from Thaqeef, from the Bani Malik tribe. He took us to a dome and would come to us between his house and the mosque. After he performed the last night prayer, he would come to us and would not leave until he talked to us and complained about the Quraysh and the people of Makkah. Then he would say, "We were humiliated and oppressed in Makkah, but when we came to Madinah, the calls for war were upon us, and he stayed away from us for a night. He did not come to us until it became late after the evening prayer." We asked, "What kept you away from us, O Messenger of Allah?" He said, "A verse from the Quran came to my mind, and I wanted to finish it before I left." We asked the companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ when we woke up in the morning, "How do you organize the Quran into Hizb?" They said, "We arrange it into three Hizb, five Hizb, seven Hizb, nine Hizb, eleven Hizb, thirteen Hizb, and the detailed Hizb from Qaf until the end."

I heard the apostle of Allah ﷺ say: If anyone makes (his wife) wash and he washes himself on Friday, goes out early (for Friday prayer), attends the sermon from the beginning, walking, not riding, takes his seat near the imam, listens attentively, and does not indulge in idle talk, he will get the reward of a year's fasting and praying at night for every step he takes. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 345)
