[Machine] "The wives of the Prophet ﷺ used to create a mixture of musk and saffron, and they would apply it to the lower parts of their hairline before becoming forbidden. Afterwards, they would continue to be forbidden in the same way."  

«أَنَّ أَزْوَاجَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ كُنَّ يَجْعَلْنَ عِصَابَةً فِيهَا الْوَرْسُ وَالزَّعْفَرَانُ فَيَعْصِبْنَ بِهَا أَسَافِلَ شُعُورِهِنَّ مِنْ جِباهِهِنَّ قَبْلَ أَنْ يُحَرِمْنَ ثُمَّ يُحَرِمْنَ كَذَلِكَ»  

[Machine] Narrated by the Prophet ﷺ: "If Ibn Umm Maktum or Bilal gives the call to prayer at night, continue eating and drinking until Bilal or Ibn Umm Maktum gives the call to prayer." And they would not give the call to prayer simultaneously; rather, one of them would give the call to prayer and wait until the other one ascends, then we would take him by his hand and say, 'Keep fasting until you have eaten your suhoor."'  

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «إِنَّ ابْنَ أُمِّ مَكْتُومٍ أَوْ بِلَالًا يُؤَذِّنُ بِلَيْلٍ فَكُلُوا وَاشْرَبُوا حَتَّى يُؤَذِّنَ بِلَالٌ أَوِ ابْنُ أُمِّ مَكْتُومٍ» وَمَا كَانَ إِلَّا يُؤَذِّنُ أَحَدُهُمَا حَتَّى يَصْعَدَ الْآخَرُ فَنَأْخُذَهُ بِيَدِهِ فَنَقُولُ كَمَا أَنْتَ حَتَّى نَتَسَحَّرَ  

[Machine] She had the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "Let your tears fall and your sorrow go away, because your son is the first whom Allah has made smile and for whom the Throne has shaken."  

لَهَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «لِيَرْقَأْ دَمْعُكِ وَيَذْهَبْ حُزْنُكِ لِأَنَّ ابْنَكِ أَوَّلُ مَنْ ضَحِكَ اللهُ إِلَيْهِ وَاهْتَزَّ لَهُ الْعَرْشُ»  

"The Messenger of Allah said: 'Whoever builds a mosque for the sake of Allah (from his own wealth), Allah will build a house for him in Paradise.'" (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 737)  

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «مَنْ بَنَى لِلَّهِ مَسْجِدًا بَنَى اللهُ لَهُ بَيْتًا فِي الْجَنَّةِ»  

[Machine] "That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Any woman who adorns herself with a necklace of gold will have a similar necklace of fire placed around her neck on the Day of Resurrection.'"  

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «أَيُّمَا امْرَأَةٍ تَحَلَّتْ بِقِلَادَةٍ مِنْ ذَهَبٍ جُعِلَ فِي عُنُقِهَا مِثْلُهَا مِنَ النَّارِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ»  

[Machine] I came to the Prophet ﷺ to pledge allegiance to him in a group of women. He stipulated for us what is in the Quran, "Do not steal, do not commit adultery, do not kill your children, and do not bring false accusations that you fabricate." Then he said to us, "Do as much as you are able." We said, "Allah and His Messenger are more merciful to us than ourselves." We said, "O Messenger of Allah, won't you shake hands with us?" He said, "I do not shake hands with women, my statement to a woman is like my statement to one hundred women."  

أَتَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فِي نِسْوَةٍ أُبَايِعُهُ فَاشْتَرَطَ عَلَيْنَا مَا فِي الْقُرْآنِ «لَا تَسْرِقْنَ وَلَا تَزْنِينَ وَلَا تَقْتُلْنَ أَوْلَادَكُنَّ وَلَا تَأْتِينَ بِبُهْتَانٍ تَفْتَرِينَهُ» ثُمَّ قَالَ لَنَا «فِيمَا اسْتَطَعْتُنَّ وَأَطَقْتُنَّ» قُلْنَا اللهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَرْحَمُ بِنَا مِنْ أَنْفُسِنَا قُلْنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَلَا تُصَافِحُنَا؟ قَالَ «إِنِّي لَا أُصَافِحُ النِّسَاءَ إِنَّمَا قَوْلِي لِامْرَأَةٍ كَقَوْلِي لِمِائَةِ امْرَأَةٍ»  

[Machine] Al-Qa'nabi narrated from Malik, who narrated from Abu Yazid al-Qaraṭīsi, who narrated from Abdullah bin Abd al-Hakam, who narrated from Bakr bin Sahl, who narrated from Abdullah bin Yusuf, who said that Malik bin Anas narrated from Muhammad bin al-Munkadir, who narrated from Ummaymah bint Ruqayyah, who said: "I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ regarding a group of women who were pledging allegiance to him. We said: 'We pledge allegiance to you, O Messenger of Allah, that we will not associate partners with Allah, nor steal, nor commit adultery, nor kill our children, nor bring forth false accusations that we fabricate with our own hands and feet, nor disobey you in doing good deeds.' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Do as much as you are capable of doing and have the strength for.' We said: 'By Allah and His Messenger, we are more merciful to ourselves than anyone else. Come, let us pledge allegiance to you, O Messenger of Allah.' He said: 'I do not shake hands with women. My saying to a hundred women is like my saying to one woman, or like my saying to one woman.'"  

ثنا الْقَعْنَبِيُّ عَنْ مَالِكٍ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو يَزِيدَ الْقَرَاطِيسِيُّ ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْحَكَمِ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا بَكْرُ بْنُ سَهْلٍ ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ يُوسُفَ قَالَا ثنا مَالِكُ بْنُ أَنَسٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْمُنْكَدِرِ عَنْ أُمَيْمَةَ بِنْتِ رُقَيْقَةَ قَالَتْ أَتَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فِي نِسْوَةٍ نُبَايِعُهُ فَقُلْنَ نُبَايِعُكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ عَلَى أَنْ لَا نُشْرِكَ بِاللهِ شَيْئًا وَلَا نَسْرِقَ وَلَا نَزْنِي وَلَا نَقْتُلَ أَوْلَادَنَا وَلَا نَأْتِيَ بِبُهْتَانٍ نَفْتَرِيَهِ بَيْنَ أَيْدِينَا وَأَرْجُلِنَا وَلَا نَعْصِيَكَ فِي مَعْرُوفٍ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «فِيمَا اسْتَطَعْتُنَّ وَأَطَقْتُنَّ» فَقُلْنَ اللهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَرْحَمُ بِنَا مِنْ أَنْفُسِنَا هَلُمَّ فَلْنُبايِعُكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ قَالَ «إِنِّي لَا أُصَافِحُ النِّسَاءَ إِنَّمَا قَوْلِي لِمِائَةِ امْرَأَةٍ كَقَوْلِي لِامْرَأَةٍ وَاحِدَةٍ أَوْ مِثْلُ قُولِي لِامْرَأَةٍ وَاحِدَةٍ»  

[Machine] I came to the Prophet ﷺ regarding women, and he said, "Take the pledge not to associate anything with Allah, not to steal, and not to commit adultery." Then he said, "To the best of your ability and within your means." We said, "May Allah and His Messenger be kinder to us than ourselves." We said, "O Messenger of Allah, give us your pledge." He said, "I do not shake hands with women. My statement to a hundred women is the same as my statement to one woman."  

أَتَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فِي نِسَاءٍ فَقَالَ «تُبَايِعْنَ عَلَى أَنْ لَا تُشْرِكْنَ بِاللهِ شَيْئًا وَلَا تَسْرِقْنَ وَلَا تَزْنِينَ» الْآيَةُ ثُمَّ قَالَ «فِيمَا اسْتَطَعْتُنَّ وَأَطَقْتُنَّ» قُلْنَا اللهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَرْحَمُ بِنَا مِنْ أَنْفُسِنَا قُلْنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ بَايِعْنَا قَالَ «لَا أُصَافِحُ النِّسَاءَ إِنَّمَا قَوْلِي لِمِائَةِ امْرَأَةٍ مِنْكُنَّ كَقَوْلِي لِامْرَأَةٍ وَاحِدَةٍ»  

[Machine] She came to the Prophet ﷺ about women, and he said, "Take the pledge that you will not associate anything with Allah, you will not steal, and you will not commit adultery." Then he stopped for a while and then said, "Do as much as you are capable of and able to do." We said, "We beseech Allah and His Messenger for knowledge and mercy, more than we beseech ourselves." We said, "O Messenger of Allah, give us your pledge." He said, "I do not shake hands with women. My pledge is the same for a hundred women as it is for one woman."  

أَنَّهَا أَتَتِ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فِي نِسَاءٍ فَقَالَ «تُبَايِعْنَ عَلَى أَنْ لَا تُشْرِكْنَ بِاللهِ شَيْئًا وَلَا تَسْرِقْنَ وَلَا تَزْنِينَ» الْآيَةُ ثُمَّ سَكَتَ ثُمَّ قَالَ «فِيمَا اسْتَطَعْتُنَّ وَأَطَقْتُنَّ» فَقُلْنَ اللهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ وأرحمُ بِنَا مِنْ أَنْفُسِنَا وَقُلْنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ بَايِعْنَا قَالَ «إِنِّي لَا أُصَافِحُ النِّسَاءَ إِنَّمَا قَوْلِي لِمِائَةِ امْرَأَةٍ كَقَوْلِي لِامْرَأَةٍ وَاحِدَةٍ»  

[Machine] He heard Ummymah bint Ruqayyah saying that she pledged allegiance to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and he stipulated for her conditions that he stipulated for the believing women, then he said, "In whatever you can handle."  

أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أُمَيْمَةَ بِنْتَ رُقَيْقَةَ تَقُولُ إِنَّهَا بَايَعَتْ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فَاشْتَرَطَ عَلَيْهَا مَا اشْتَرَطَ عَلَى الْمُؤْمِنَاتِ ثُمَّ قَالَ «فِيمَا أَطَقْتِ»  

[Machine] She pledged allegiance to the Prophet ﷺ by setting conditions for herself, just as the conditions were set for the female believers in the Book of Allah. Then he said, "with what you are able to afford, O daughter of Ruqayyah."  

أَنَّهَا بَايَعْتِ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَاشْتَرَطَ عَلَيْهَا مَا اشْتَرَطَ عَلَى الْمُؤْمِنَاتِ فِي كِتَابِ اللهِ ثُمَّ قَالَ «فِيمَا أَطَقْتِ يَا ابْنَةَ رُقَيْقَةَ»  

[Machine] I entered upon the Prophet ﷺ in the presence of women and we said, "We pledge allegiance to you, O Messenger of Allah, that we will not associate anything with Allah, nor steal, nor commit adultery, nor spread false accusations conceived between our hands and feet, and that we will not disobey you in what is right." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Regarding what I have permitted you and what I have prohibited, you are able and capable of following." We said, "Our pledge is to Allah and His Messenger, as He is more merciful towards us." So we gave our pledge to the Messenger of Allah, and he said, "I do not shake hands with women, and indeed my statement to one hundred is like my statement to one."  

دَخَلْتُ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فِي نِسْوَةٍ فَقُلْنَا نُبَايِعُكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ عَلَى أَنْ لَا نُشْرِكَ بِاللهِ شَيْئًا وَلَا نَسْرِقَ وَلَا نَزْنِي وَلَا نَأْتِيَ بِبُهْتَانٍ نَفْتَرِيَهُ بَيْنَ أَيْدِينَا وَأَرْجُلِنَا وَلَا نَعْصِيَكَ فِي مَعْرُوفٍ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «فِيمَا أَطَقْتُنَّ وَاسْتَطَعْتُنَّ» فَقُلْنَا اللهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَرْحَمُ بِنَا فَبَايِعْنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ فَقَالَ «إِنِّي لَا أُصَافِحُ النِّسَاءَ وَإِنَّمَا قَوْلِي لِمِائَةٍ كَقَوْلِي لِوَاحِدَةٍ»  

[Machine] Hakimah bint Ummaymah bint Ruqayyah told me that her mother said: The Prophet ﷺ used to urinate in a vessel made of palm leaves, then he would place it under his bed. However, once he came back and wanted to urinate again, but the vessel was empty. He asked a woman named Barakah, who used to serve Umm Habibah, if she had taken the urine. She replied, "I drank it." He then said, "You have protected yourself from the fire by a great act."  

حَدَّثَتْنِي حُكَيْمَةُ بِنْتُ أُمَيْمَةَ بِنْتِ رُقَيْقَةَ عَنْ أُمِّهَا أَنَّهَا قَالَتْ كَانَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ يَبُولُ فِي قَدَحِ عِيدَانٍ ثُمَّ يَرْفَعُ تَحْتَ سَرِيرِهِ فَبَالَ فِيهِ ثُمَّ جَاءَ فَأَرَادَهُ فَإِذَا الْقَدَحُ لَيْسَ فِيهِ شَيْءٌ فَقَالَ لِامْرَأَةٍ يُقَالُ لَهَا بَرَكَةُ كَانَتْ تَخْدُمُ أُمَّ حَبِيبَةَ جَاءَتْ بِهَا مِنْ أَرْضِ الْحَبَشَةِ «أَيْنَ الْبَوْلُ الَّذِي كَانَ فِي الْقَدَحِ؟» قَالَتْ شَرِبَتُهُ فَقَالَ «لَقَدِ احْتَظَرْتِ مِنَ النَّارِ بِحِظَارٍ»  

[Machine] Umamah, the maidservant of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , said, "I used to watch the Messenger of Allah ﷺ perform ablution. A man entered and said, 'Advise me.' He replied, 'Do not associate anything with Allah, even if you are cut to pieces or burned in fire. And do not disobey your parents, even if they order you to abandon your family and possessions. And do not drink alcohol, for it is the root of all evil. And do not purposely abandon prayer, for whoever does so will have the protection of Allah and His Messenger lifted from them. And do not flee from battle, for whoever does so will earn the anger of Allah and their refuge will be Hellfire. And do not exceed the limits of your own land, for whoever does so will bear the burden on the Day of Judgment equivalent to the size of seven earths. And spend on your family from your surplus, and do not withhold your support from them, relying on Allah.'"  

عَنْ أُمَيْمَةَ مَوْلَاةِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَتْ كُنْتُ أَصُبُّ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ وُضُوءَهُ فَدَخَلَ رَجُلٌ فَقَالَ أَوْصِنِي فَقَالَ «لَا تُشْرِكْ بِاللهِ شَيْئًا وَإِنْ قُطِّعْتَ وَحُرِّقْتَ بِالنَّارِ وَلَا تَعْصِيَنَّ وَالِدَيْكَ وَإِنْ أَمَرَاكَ أَنْ تُخَلِّي عَنْ أَهْلِكَ وَدُنْيَاكَ فَتُخَلِّهِ وَلَا تَشْرَبَنَّ خَمْرًا فَإِنَّهَا رَأْسُ كُلِّ شَرٍّ وَلَا تَتْرُكَنَّ صَلَاةً مُتَعَمِّدًا فَمَنْ فَعَلَ ذَلِكَ بَرِئَتْ مِنْهُ ذِمَّةُ اللهِ وَذِمَّةُ رَسُولِهِ وَلَا تَفِرَّنَّ يَوْمَ الزَّحْفِ فَمَنْ فَعَلَ ذَلِكَ بَاءَ بِسَخَطٍ مِنَ اللهِ وَمَأْوَاهُ جَهَنَّمُ وَبِئْسَ الْمَصِيرُ وَلَا تَزْدَادَنَّ فِي تُخُومِ أَرْضِكَ فَمَنْ فَعَلَ ذَلِكَ يَأْتِي بِهِ عَلَى رَقَبَتِهِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ مِنْ مِقْدَارِ سَبْعِ أَرَضِينَ وَأَنْفِقْ عَلَى أَهْلِكَ مِنْ طَوْلِكَ وَلَا تَرْفَعْ عَصَاكَ عَنْهُمْ وَأَخِفْهُمْ فِي اللهِ»  

[Machine] I heard my aunt, who had performed Hajj with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , say that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Indeed, Bilal gives the call to prayer at night, so keep eating and drinking until Bilal or Ibn Umm Maktum gives the call to prayer." And he used to raise his voice for this (the adhan) and lower it for that (the iqamah), so we would hold onto him just as you are until we eat our pre-dawn meal.  

سَمِعْتُ عَمَّتِي وَكَانَتْ قَدْ حَجَّتْ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَتْ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «إِنَّ بِلَالًا يُؤَذِّنُ بِلَيْلٍ فَكُلُوا وَاشْرَبُوا حَتَّى يُؤَذِّنَ بِلَالٌ أَوِ ابْنُ أُمِّ مَكْتُومٍ» وَكَانَ يَصْعَدُ هَذَا وَيُنَزِّلُ هَذَا فَكُنَّا نَتَعَلَّقُ بِهِ كَمَا أَنْتَ حَتَّى نَتَسَحَّرَ  

[Machine] She came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, "O Messenger of Allah, my son Abdullah ibn Salamah, who was present at Badr, was killed on the day of Uhud. I wanted to move his body closer so that he can rest nearby." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ gave her permission, so she did so with the help of Mujdhir ibn Ziyad, who had a garment to wrap the body with. As they passed by, people marveled at them. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ looked at them and said, "Their actions reconcile between them." Abdullah was a broad and heavy man, while Mujdhir was lean and had little flesh. And it was he (the Messenger of Allah ﷺ) who said...  

أَنَّهَا جَاءَتْ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ ابْنِي عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ وَكَانَ بَدْرِيًّا قُتِلَ يَوْمَ أُحُدٍ أَحْبَبْتُ أَنْ أَنْقُلَهُ فَآنَسُ بِقُرْبِهِ فَأَذِنَ لَهَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَعَدَلَتْهُ بِالْمِجْذَرِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ عَلَى نَاضِحٍ لَهُ فِي عَبَاءَةٍ فَمَرَّتْ بِهِمَا فَعَجِبَ لَهُمَا النَّاسُ فَنَظَرَ إِلَيْهِمَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ «سَوَّى بَيْنَهُمَا عَمَلُهُما» وَكَانَ عَبْدُ اللهِ رَجُلًا جَسِيمًا ثَقِيلًا وَكَانَ الْمِجْذَرُ قَلِيلُ اللَّحْمِ وَهُوَ الَّذِي يَقُولُ  

[Machine] "Busrah bint Safwan asked the Prophet ﷺ about a woman who hits with her hand and it causes her private part to bleed. He said, 'Perform ablution, O Busrah.'"  

أَنَّ بُسْرَةَ بِنْتَ صَفْوَانَ سَأَلْتِ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ عَنِ الْمَرْأَةِ تَضْرِبُ بِيَدِهَا فَتُصِيبُ فَرْجَهَا فَقَالَ «تَوَضَّئِي يَا بُسْرَةُ»  

[Machine] He and Marwan reviewed the ablution from the place where he performs istinja, so Marwan said "Busrah bint Safwan narrated to me that she heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ordering ablution from the place of istinja." So 'Urwah seemed to have no objection to his narration, so Marwan sent a policeman to her, he returned and informed them that she heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ordering ablution from the place of istinja.  

تَذَاكَرَ هُوَ وَمَرْوَانُ الْوُضُوءَ مِنْ مَسِّ الْفَرْجِ فَقَالَ مَرْوَانُ حَدَّثَتْنِي بُسْرَةُ بِنْتُ صَفْوَانَ أَنَّهَا سَمِعَتْ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ «يَأْمُرُ بِالْوُضُوءِ مِنْ مَسِّ الْفَرْجِ» فَكَأَنَّ عُرْوَةَ لَمْ يَرْفَعْ لِحَدِيثِهِ فَأَرْسَلَ مَرْوَانُ إِلَيْهَا شُرْطِيًّا فَرَجَعَ فَأَخْبَرَهُمْ أَنَّهَا سَمِعَتْ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَأْمُرُ بِالْوُضُوءِ مِنْ مَسِّ الْفَرْجِ  

[Machine] He heard Marwan say that Busrah bint Safwan informed me and said, "I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, 'Whoever touches his private parts, let him perform ablution.'"  

أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ مَرْوَانَ يَقُولُ أَخْبَرَتْنِي بُسْرَةُ بِنْتُ صَفْوَانَ قَالَتْ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «مَنْ مَسَّ فَرْجَهُ فَلْيَتَوَضَّأْ»  

[Machine] She heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "A man should perform ablution from touching his private parts."  

أَنَّهَا سَمِعَتْ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «يَتَوَضَّأُ الرَّجُلُ مِنْ مَسِّ الذَّكَرِ»  

Abdullah ibn AbuBakr reported that he heard Urwah say: I entered upon Marwan ibn al-Hakam. We mentioned things that render the ablution void. Marwan said: Does it become void by touching the penis? Urwah replied: This I do not know. Marwan said: Busrah daughter of Safwan reported to me that she heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: He who touches his penis should perform ablution. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 181)  

أَنَّهَا سَمِعَتْ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «مَنْ مَسَّ ذَكَرَهُ فَلْيَتَوَضَّأْ»  

"I heard the Messenger of Allah say: 'Whoever touches his sexual organ then let him perform ablution." (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 481)  

إِنَّهَا سَمِعَتْ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «مَنْ مَسَّ فَرْجَهُ فَلْيَتَوَضَّأْ»  

[Machine] He said that wudu' includes washing the private parts, and Uruwah disagreed with that. Marwan mentioned that Busrah, the daughter of Safwan, informed him about it, so he sent a message to Busrah asking her about it. She said, "The Prophet ﷺ mentioned what should be washed during wudu', and he mentioned washing the private parts."  

أَنَّهُ قَالَ الْوُضُوءُ مِنْ مَسِّ الذَّكَرِ فَأَنْكَرَ ذَلِكَ عُرْوَةَ فَقَالَ مَرْوَانُ أَخْبَرَتْنِيهِ بُسْرَةُ بِنْتُ صَفْوَانَ فَأَرْسَلَ إِلَى بُسْرَةَ فَقَالَتْ «ذَكَرَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مَا يُتَوَضَّأْ مِنْهُ؟ فَذَكَرَ مَسَّ الذَّكَرِ»  

[Machine] The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said, "If any one of you touches their private part, let them perform ablution."  

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «إِذَا مَسَّ أَحَدُكُمْ ذَكَرَهُ فَلْيَتَوَضَّأْ»  

[Machine] He washes his hands when a man touches his genitals, so I disapproved of that and said, "No wudu (ablution) is required from this touch." Marwan informed me that Busrah bint Safwan reported that she heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ mentioning that wudu is required from touching the genitals. Urwah said, "I kept consulting Marwan regarding this matter until he called a man from his guards and sent him to Busrah bint Safwan to ask her about what Marwan had informed me. Busrah sent back the same information that Marwan had informed me."  

أَنَّهُ يُتَوَضَّأُ مِنْ مَسِّ الذَّكَرِ إِذَا أَفْضَى إِلَيْهِ رَجُلٌ بِيَدِهِ فَأَنْكَرْتُ ذَلِكَ وَقُلْتُ لَا وُضُوءَ مِنْ مَسِّهِ فَقَالَ مَرْوَانُ أَخْبَرَتْنِي بُسْرَةُ بِنْتُ صَفْوَانَ أَنَّهَا سَمِعَتْ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَذْكُرُ مَا يُتَوَضَّأُ مِنْهُ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «يُتَوَضَّأُ مِنْ مَسِّ الذَّكَرِ» قَالَ عُرْوَةُ «فَلَمْ أَزَلْ أُرَاجِعُ مَرْوَانَ فِي ذَلِكَ حَتَّى دَعَا رَجُلًا مِنْ حَرَسِهِ فَأَرْسَلَهُ إِلَى بُسْرَةَ بِنْتِ صَفْوَانَ فَسَأَلَهَا عَمَّا حَدَّثَتْهُ مِنْ ذَلِكَ فَأَرْسَلَتْ بُسْرَةُ بِمِثْلِ الَّذِي حَدَّثَنِي عَنْهَا مَرْوَانُ»  

"When he was the governor of Al-Madinah, Marwan mentioned that a man should perform Wudu' after touching his penis, if he touches it iwth his hand. I did not like that and I said: 'The one who touches it does not have to perform Wudu'.' Marwan said: 'Busrah bint Safwan told me that she heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ mention the things for which Wudu' should be performed, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Wudu' should be performed after touching the penis.' 'Urwah said: 'I continued to argue with Marwan until he called one of his guards and sent him to Busrah to ask her about what Marwan had narrated, and Busrah sent word saying something like that which Marwan had narrated to me from her." أَنَّهُ يُتَوَضَّأُ مِنْ مَسِّ الذَّكَرِ إِذَا أَفْضَى إِلَيْهِ الرَّجُلُ بِيَدِهِ فَأَنْكَرْتُ ذَلِكَ فَقُلْتُ لَا وُضُوءَ عَلَى مَنْ مَسَّهُ فَقَالَ مَرْوَانُ أَخْبَرَتْنِي بُسْرَةُ بِنْتُ صَفْوَانَ أَنَّهَا سَمِعَتْ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَذْكُرُ مَا يُتَوَضَّأُ مِنْهُ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «وَيُتَوَضَّأُ مِنْ مَسِّ الذَّكَرِ» قَالَ عُرْوَةُ «فَلَمْ أَزَلْ أُمَارِي مَرْوَانَ حَتَّى دَعَا رَجُلًا مِنْ حَرَسِهِ فَأَرْسَلَهُ إِلَى بُسْرَةَ يَسْأَلُهَا عَمَّا حَدَّثَ مِنْ ذَلِكَ فَأَرْسَلَتْ إِلَيْهِ بُسْرَةُ بِمِثْلِ الَّذِي حَدَّثَنِي عَنْهُ»  

[Machine] "That the Prophet ﷺ said, 'Whoever touches his private parts should perform ablution.'"  

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ «مَنْ مَسَّ ذَكَرَهُ فَلْيَتَوَضَّأْ»  

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ said, "Whoever touches his private parts should perform ablution."  

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ «مَنْ مَسَّ ذَكَرَهُ فَلْيَتَوَضَّأْ»  

[Machine] Al-Qa'nabi narrated from Malik who narrated from Abu Yazid al-Qaratisi who narrated from Abdullah ibn Abd al-Hakam that he (Malik) narrated from Bakr ibn Sahl al-Dimyati who narrated from Abdullah ibn Yusuf that he (Malik) narrated from Abdullah ibn Abi Bakr ibn Muhammad ibn Amr ibn Hazm that he (Abdullah ibn Abi Bakr) heard Urwah ibn Zubayr saying, "I entered upon Marwan ibn al-Hakam and he mentioned what is required for ablution. Marwan said, "Busrat, the daughter of Safwan, informed me that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Whoever touches his private parts should perform ablution.'"  

ثنا الْقَعْنَبِيُّ عَنْ مَالِكٍ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو يَزِيدَ الْقَرَاطِيسِيُّ ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْحَكَمِ أَنَا مَالِكٌ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا بَكْرُ بْنُ سَهْلٍ الدِّمْيَاطِيُّ ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ يُوسُفَ أَنَا مَالِكٌ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ أَبِي بَكْرِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ حَزْمٍ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ عُرْوَةَ بْنَ الزُّبَيْرِ يَقُولُ دَخَلْتُ عَلَى مَرْوَانَ بْنِ الْحَكَمِ فَذَكَرَ مَا يَكُونُ مِنْهُ الْوُضُوءُ فَقَالَ مَرْوَانُ أَخْبَرَتْنِي بُسْرَةُ بِنْتُ صَفْوَانَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «مَنْ مَسَّ ذَكَرَهُ فَلْيَتَوَضَّأْ»  

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ said, "Whoever touches his private parts, let him perform ablution."  

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ «مَنْ مَسَّ ذَكَرَهُ فَلْيَتَوَضَّأْ»  

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ said, "A man should perform ablution from touching his private parts."  

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «يَتَوَضَّأُ الرَّجُلُ مِنْ مَسِّ الذَّكَرِ»  

[Machine] It was mentioned in the presence of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about what a person should do when he touches his private parts, so he said, "Whoever touches his private parts should perform ablution."  

ذُكِرَ عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ مَا يَتَوَضَّأُ مِنْهُ فَقَالَ «وَمَنْ مَسَّ الذَّكَرَ يَتَوَضَّأْ»  

[Machine] Marwan asked me about touching the private parts, and I said that there is no need for ablution because of it. He then said that Busra bint Safwan was talking about it, so he sent a messenger to her. The messenger reported that she had informed him that the Prophet ﷺ said, "Whoever touches his private parts, let him perform ablution."  

ذَاكَرَنِي مَرْوَانُ مَسَّ الذَّكَرِ فَقُلْتُ لَيْسَ مِنْهُ وُضُوءٌ فَقَالَ إِنَّ بُسْرَةَ بِنْتَ صَفْوَانَ تُحَدِّثُ فِيهِ فَبَعَثَ إِلَيْهَا رَسُولًا فَذَكَرَ أَنَّهَا حَدَّثَتْهُ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ «مَنْ مَسَّ فَرْجَهُ فَلْيَتَوَضَّأْ»  

[Machine] The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said, "Whoever touches his private parts should perform ablution."  

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «مَنْ مَسَّ ذَكَرَهُ فَلْيَتَوَضَّأْ»  

[Machine] "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Whoever touches his private parts, let him perform ablution.'"  

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «مَنْ مَسَّ ذَكَرَهُ فَلْيَتَوَضَّأْ»  

[Machine] I heard Urwah saying that Marwan sent a message to Busrah and asked her about this Hadith. She narrated that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "When anyone of you touches their private parts, they should perform ablution."  

سَمِعْتُ عُرْوَةَ يَقُولُ أَرْسَلَ مَرْوَانُ إِلَى بُسْرَةَ فَسَأَلَهَا عَنْ هَذَا الْحَدِيثِ فَحَدَّثَتْ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «إِذَا مَسَّ أَحَدُكُمْ ذَكَرَهُ فَلْيَتَوَضَّأْ»  

"I heard the Messenger of Allah say: 'Whoever touches his sexual organ then let him perform ablution." (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 481)  

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «مَنْ مَسَّ فَرْجَهُ فَلَا يُصَلِّي حَتَّى يَتَوَضَّأَ»  

[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "If one of you feels something he should perform ablution."  

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «إِذَا مَسَّ أَحَدُكُمْ ذَكَرَهُ فَلْيَتَوَضَّأْ»  

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "When one of you touches his private parts, he should perform ablution." I disagreed with him, so he sent to her and she informed him about the Messenger of Allah ﷺ while I was present.  

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «إِذَا مَسَّ أَحَدُكُمْ فَرْجَهُ فَلْيَتَوَضَّأْ» قَالَ فَأَنْكَرْتُ عَلَيْهِ فَأَرْسَلَ إِلَيْهَا فَحَدَّثَتْهُ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ وَأَنَا حَاضِرٌ  

[Machine] About touching the private parts, and he did not see any harm in it, so Marwan sent some of his guards to Busrat bint Safwan and she told me that the Prophet ﷺ said, "When a man touches his private parts with his hand, he should not pray until he performs ablution." He returned and said, "She said yes." Then, my father used to say, "Whoever touches his private parts or his intimate parts should perform ablution."  

عَنْ مَسِّ الذَّكَرِ فَلَمْ يَرَ بِهِ بَأْسًا فَبَعَثَ مَرْوَانُ بَعْضَ حَرَسِهِ إِلَى بُسْرَةَ بِنْتِ صَفْوَانَ فَقَالَ حَدَّثَتْنِي أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ «إِذَا مَسَّ الرَّجُلُ فَرْجَهُ بِيَدِهِ فَلَا يُصَلِّي حَتَّى يَتَوَضَّأَ» فَرَجَعَ فَقَالَ قَالَتْ نَعَمْ فَكَانَ أَبِي بَعْدُ يَقُولُ مَنْ مَسَّ رُفْغَهُ أَوْ أُنْثَيَيْهِ فَلْيَتَوَضَّأْ  

"The Messenger of Allah said: 'If anyone of you touches his penis, let him perform ablution.'" (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 479)  

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «إِذَا مَسَّ أَحَدُكُمْ ذَكَرَهُ فَلْيَتَوَضَّأْ»  

[Machine] Whoever touches his private parts should perform ablution, and if someone reproaches him for doing so, he should bring Busra bint Safwan and ask her, as she said, "I heard the Prophet ﷺ say, 'Whoever touches his private parts should perform ablution.'"  

مَنْ مَسَّ فَرْجَهُ فَلْيَتَوَضَّأْ فَأَنْكَرَ ذَلِكَ عَلَيْهِ عُرْوَةُ فَقَالَ يَا شُرْطِيُّ ائْتِ بُسْرَةَ بِنْتَ صَفْوَانَ فَسَلْهَا فَإِنَّهَا قَالَتْ سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ يَقُولُ «مَنْ مَسَّ ذَكَرَهُ فَلْيَتَوَضَّأْ»  

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "When one of you touches his private parts, or his female private parts, or his buttocks, then he should perform ablution (wudu)."  

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «إِذَا مَسَّ أَحَدُكُمْ ذَكَرَهُ أَوْ أُنْثَيَيْهِ أَوْ رُفْغَيْهِ فَلْيَتَوَضَّأْ»  

[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying: "Whoever touches his private parts or his genitals or his buttocks, then he should perform ablution for prayer."  

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «مَنْ مَسَّ ذَكَرَهُ أَوْ أُنْثَيَيْهِ أَوْ رُفْغَيْهِ فَلْيَتَوَضَّأْ وُضُوءَهُ لِلصَّلَاةِ»  

[Machine] About touching the private parts, I have not seen that ablution has to be repeated after it. Marwan called some of his guards and sent him to Busra bint Safwan. He asked her about that, and she informed him that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "If one of you touches his private parts, then he should perform ablution again."  

عَنْ مَسِّ الذَّكَرِ فَلَمْ أَرَ عَلَيْهِ إِعَادَةَ الْوُضُوءِ فَدَعَا مَرْوَانُ بَعْضَ شُرْطَتِهِ فَأَرْسَلَهُ إِلَى بُسْرَةَ بِنْتِ صَفْوَانَ فَسَأَلَهَا عَنْ ذَلِكَ فَأَخْبَرْتُهُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «إِذَا مَسَّ أَحَدُكُمْ ذَكَرَهُ فَلْيُعِدِ الْوُضُوءَ»  

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ said, "Whoever touches his private parts, let him perform ablution."  

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ «مَنْ مَسَّ ذَكَرَهُ أَوْ أُنْثَيَيْهِ فَلْيَتَوَضَّأْ»  

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever touches his private parts should perform ablution for prayer."  

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «مَنْ مَسَّ ذَكَرَهُ فَلْيَتَوَضَّأْ وُضُوءَهُ لِلصَّلَاةِ»  

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever touches their private parts, it is obligatory for them to perform ablution."  

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «مَنْ مَسَّ فَرْجَهُ وَجَبَ عَلَيْهِ الْوُضُوءُ»  

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever touches their private parts or their anus or their reproductive organs, should not pray until they perform ablution."  

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «مَنْ مَسَّ رُفْغَهُ أَوْ أُنْثَيَيْهِ أَوْ ذَكَرَهُ فَلَا يُصَلِّي حَتَّى يَتَوَضَّأَ»  

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever touches his private parts must perform ablution." Urwah said, "So I asked Busrah, and she confirmed it."  

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «مَنْ مَسَّ ذَكَرَهُ فَلْيَتَوَضَّأْ» قَالَ عُرْوَةُ فَسَأَلْتُ بُسْرَةَ فَصَدَّقَتْهُ
