عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ الْمَيِّتُ يُعَذَّبُ بِمَا نِيحَ عَلَيْهِ
“The deceased is punished for the wailing over him.” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 1593)
عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ الْمَيِّتُ يُعَذَّبُ بِمَا نِيحَ عَلَيْهِ
The Prophet ﷺ said, "The deceased is tortured in his grave for the wailing done over him." Narrated Shu'ba: The deceased is tortured for the wailing of the living ones over him .
عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ الْمَيِّتُ يُعَذَّبُ فِي قَبْرِهِ بِمَا نِيحَ عَلَيْهِ
Be quiet, my daughter. Don't you know that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had said:" The deceased is punished because of his family's weeping over the death"?
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ إِنَّ الْمَيِّتَ يُعَذَّبُ بِبُكَاءِ أَهْلِهِ عَلَيْهِ
The dead is punished in the grave because of wailing on it.
عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ الْمَيِّتُ يُعَذَّبُ فِي قَبْرِهِ بِمَا نِيحَ عَلَيْهِ
The same hadith is narrated on the authority of 'Umar through another chain of transmitters.

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ الْمَيِّتُ يُعَذَّبُ بِبُكَاءِ أَهْلِهِ عَلَيْهِ
"Salim said: 'I heard 'Abdullah bin 'Umar say: 'Umar said: The Messenger of Allah said: The deceased is punished due to his family's weeping for him."'
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ يُعَذَّبُ الْمَيِّتُ بِبُكَاءِ أَهْلِهِ عَلَيْهِ
"I heard the Messenger of Allah say: 'The deceased is punished in his grave due to the wailing over him."'
سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ الْمَيِّتُ يُعَذَّبُ فِي قَبْرِهِ بِالنِّيَاحَةِ عَلَيْهِ
“The deceased is punished for the wailing over him.”
عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ الْمَيِّتُ يُعَذَّبُ بِمَا نِيحَ عَلَيْهِ
[AI] The translation of the given Arabic sentence into English is: "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Verily, we do not seek help from a polytheist.'"

When Abu Bakr died, people wept for him. ʿUmar said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: ʿThe deceased is tormented because of the weeping of the living.”
عُمَرُ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ إِنَّ الْمَيِّتَ يُعَذَّبُ بِبُكَاءِ الْحَيِّ
ʿThe deceased is tormented in his grave because of being wailed over.ʿ Al-Hajjaj said: ʿ...because of the wailing over him.ʿ
