The Prophet ﷺ said, "The deceased is tortured in his grave for the wailing done over him." Narrated Shu'ba: The deceased is tortured for the wailing of the living ones over him .

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ الْمَيِّتُ يُعَذَّبُ فِي قَبْرِهِ بِمَا نِيحَ عَلَيْهِ

The dead is punished in the grave because of wailing on it.

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ الْمَيِّتُ يُعَذَّبُ فِي قَبْرِهِ بِمَا نِيحَ عَلَيْهِ

The same hadith is narrated on the authority of 'Umar through another chain of transmitters.

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ الْمَيِّتُ يُعَذَّبُ فِي قَبْرِهِ بِمَا نِيحَ عَلَيْهِ

"Sulaiman bin Surad said to Khalid bin Urfutah - or, Khalid said to Sulaiman - 'Did you hear the Messenger of Allah saying: "Whoever is killed by his stomach then he will not be punished in the grave"?' One of them said to the other: "Yes."

سَمِعْتَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ مَنْ قَتَلَهُ بَطْنُهُ لَمْ يُعَذَّبْ فِي قَبْرِهِ فَقَالَ أَحَدُهُمَا لِصَاحِبِهِ نَعَمْ

“The deceased is punished for the wailing over him.”

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ الْمَيِّتُ يُعَذَّبُ بِمَا نِيحَ عَلَيْهِ

“The deceased is tormented in his grave because of the wailing over him.ʿ

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ الْمَيِّتُ يُعَذَّبُ فِي قَبْرِهِ بِالنِّيَاحَةِ عَلَيْهِ

The Prophet ﷺ said: ʿThe deceased is tormented in his grave because of the wailing for him.ʿ

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ الْمَيِّتُ يُعَذَّبُ فِي قَبْرِهِ بِالنِّيَاحَةِ عَلَيْهِ

ʿThe deceased is tormented in his grave because of being wailed over.ʿ Al-Hajjaj said: ʿ...because of the wailing over him.ʿ

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ الْمَيِّتُ يُعَذَّبُ فِي قَبْرِهِ بِمَا نِيحَ عَلَيْهِ وَقَالَ حَجَّاجٌ بِالنِّيَاحَةِ عَلَيْهِ

ʿThe deceased is tormented in his grave because of the wailing over him.”

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ الْمَيِّتُ يُعَذَّبُ فِي قَبْرِهِ بِمَا نِيحَ عَلَيْهِ

"Sulaiman bin Surad said to Khalid bin Urfutah - or, Khalid said to Sulaiman - 'Did you hear the Messenger of Allah saying: "Whoever is killed by his stomach then he will not be punished in the grave"?' One of them said to the other: "Yes." (Using translation from Tirmidhī 1064)

أَحَدُهُمَا لِصَاحِبِهِ أَلَمْ يَقُلْ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مَنْ يَقْتُلُهُ بَطْنُهُ فَلَنْ يُعَذَّبَ فِي قَبْرِهِ ؟ فَقَالَ بَلَى

[AI] The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said, "Whoever kills him, his stomach will not be punished in his grave?" The other person said, "Yes".

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ مَنْ قَتَلَهُ بَطْنُهُ فَلَنْ يُعَذَّبَ فِي قَبْرِهِ ؟ قَالَ الْآخَرُ بَلَى

“The deceased is punished for the wailing over him.” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 1593)

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ الْمَيِّتُ يُعَذَّبُ بِمَا نِيحَ عَلَيْهِ

[AI] Ayoub said: I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbid the killing of patience.

أَيُّوبَفَقَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَنْهَى عَنْ قَتْلِ الصَّبْرِ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever kills a person unjustly, his stomach will not be punished in his grave."

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ «مَنْ قَتَلَهُ بَطْنُهُ لَمْ يُعَذَّبْ فِي قَبْرِهِ»

[AI] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "Indeed, the one who is relied upon will be punished." So she said, "Yes."

سَمِعْتِ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «إِنَّ الْمُعَوَّلَ عَلَيْهِ يُعَذَّبُ» فَقَالَتْ بَلَى

[AI] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "Whoever humiliates the Quraysh, Allah will humiliate him."

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «مَنْ أَهَانَ قُرَيْشًا أَهَانَهُ اللَّهُ»

[AI] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbid killing the patient.

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ «يَنْهَى عَنْ قَتْلِ الصَّبْرِ»

[AI] One of them said to the other, "Did you not receive the message? Did you not hear that the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , said, 'Whoever kills himself will not be punished in his grave'?" He replied, "Yes."

أَحَدُهُمَا لِلْآخَرِ أَلَمْ يَبْلُغْكَ أَوْ أَلَمْ تَسْمَعْ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «مَنْ قَتَلَهُ بَطْنُهُ فَلَنْ يُعَذَّبْ فِي قَبْرِهِ» قَالَ بَلَى

"Sulaiman bin Surad said to Khalid bin Urfutah - or, Khalid said to Sulaiman - 'Did you hear the Messenger of Allah saying: "Whoever is killed by his stomach then he will not be punished in the grave"?' One of them said to the other: "Yes." (Using translation from Tirmidhī 1064)

سَمِعْتَ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «مَنْ قَتَلَهُ بَطْنُهُ لَمْ يُعَذَّبْ فِي قَبْرِهِ؟» قَالَ خَالِدٌ نَعَمْ

[AI] You hear the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "Whoever kills him, his stomach will not be punished in his grave?" He said, "Yes."

تَسْمَعْ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «مَنْ يَقْتُلُهُ بَطْنُهُ لَمْ يُعَذَّبْ فِي قَبْرِهِ؟» قَالَ بَلَى

[AI] We heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "The one who controls their stomach will not be tormented in their grave."

سَمِعْنَا رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «صَاحِبُ الْبَطْنِ لَا يُعَذَّبُ فِي قَبْرِهِ»

"Sulaiman bin Surad said to Khalid bin Urfutah - or, Khalid said to Sulaiman - 'Did you hear the Messenger of Allah saying: "Whoever is killed by his stomach then he will not be punished in the grave"?' One of them said to the other: "Yes." (Using translation from Tirmidhī 1064)

سَمِعْتَ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «مَنْ قَتَلَهُ بَطْنُهُ لَمْ يُعَذَّبْ فِي قَبْرِهِ؟» فَقَالَ أَحَدُهُمَا لِصَاحِبِهِ نَعَمْ

سَمِعْتَ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «مَنْ قَتَلَهُ بَطْنُهُ لَمْ يُعَذَّبْ فِي قَبْرِهِ؟» فَقَالَ أَحَدُهُمَا لِصَاحِبِهِ نَعَمْ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Verily, the deceased is punished for the mourning over him."

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «إِنَّ الْمَيِّتَ يُعَذَّبُ بِمَا نِيحَ عَلَيْهِ»

"I heard the Messenger of Allah say: 'The deceased is punished in his grave due to the wailing over him."' (Using translation from Nasāʾī 1853)

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «إِنَّ الْمَيِّتَ يُعَذَّبُ فِي قَبْرِهِ بِالنِّيَاحَةِ عَلَيْهِ»

[AI] The Prophet ﷺ said: "Verily, the deceased is punished with the cries of mourning over him in his grave." This narration is authentically reported in the hadith of Shu'bah.

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ إِنَّ الْمَيِّتَ يُعَذَّبُ بِالنِّيَاحَةِ عَلَيْهِ فِي قَبْرِهِ أَخْرَجَاهُ فِي الصَّحِيحِ مِنْ حَدِيثِ شُعْبَةَ هَكَذَا

“The deceased is tormented in his grave because of the wailing over him.ʿ (Using translation from Aḥmad 180)

"إِنَّ الْمَيِّتَ يُعَذَّبُ بالنِّيَاحَةِ عَلَيْهِ فِى قَبْرِهِ".

The Prophet ﷺ said, "The deceased is tortured in his grave for the wailing done over him." Narrated Shu'ba: The deceased is tortured for the wailing of the living ones over him . (Using translation from Bukhārī 1292)

"إِنَّ الْمَيِّتَ يُعذَّبُ في قَبْرهِ بما نِيحَ عليه".

"الميِّتُ يعذَّبُ في قبرهِ بما نيحِ عليه ".

"الميِّتُ يعذَّب في قبرِهِ بالنياحةِ عليه ".

"الميِّتُ يعذَّبُ في قبره ما نيح عليه ".

"الميِّتُ يُعَذَّبُ في قَبْرهِ بِبُكاءِ الحَيِّ".

"مَنْ قَتَلَهُ بَطْنُهُ لَمْ يُعَذَّبْ في قَبْرِهِ".
