3. Funerals (1/6)
"None of you should wish for death. Either he is a doer of good, so perhaps he may do more good, or he is an evildoer but perhaps he will give up his evil ways." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 1818)
'None of you should wish for death. Either he is a doer of good, so if he lives he will do more good or he is a doer of evil but perhaps he will give up his evil ways."' (Using translation from Nasāʾī 1819)
"None of you should wish for death because of some harm that befalls him, rather he should say: 'Allahumma ahini ma kanatil-hayatu khairanli wa tawaffani idha kanatil-wafatu khairanli (O Allah, keep me alive so alive so long as life is good for me, and cause me to die when death is good for me.)"' (Using translation from Nasāʾī 1820)
Messenger of Allah ﷺ said," None of you should long for death because of a calamity that had befallen him, and if he cannot, but long for death, then he should say, 'O Allah! Let me live as long as life is better for me, and take my life if death is better for me.' " (Using translation from Bukhārī 6351)
3.2 [Machine] Praying for Death
"The Messenger of Allah said: 'Do not pray for death or wish for it. Whoever insists on praying for it let him say: Allahumma ahini ma kanatil-hayatu khairanli wa tawaffani idha kanatil-wafatu khairanli (O Allah, keep me alive so long as life is good for me, and cause me to die when death is good for me.)"' (Using translation from Nasāʾī 1822)
I came to Khabbab who had been branded with seven brands(1) and he said, "Had Messenger of Allah ﷺ not forbidden us to invoke (Allah) for death, I would have invoked (Allah) for it." (Using translation from Bukhārī 6349)
3.3 [Machine] The frequent mention of death.
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Remember constantly the destroyer of pleasures." Muhammad said in his narration about death, Abu Abdur-Rahman Muhammad ibn Ibrahim, who is the father of Abu Bakr ibn Abi Shaybah, Uthman ibn Abi Shaybah, and Al-Qasim ibn Abi Shaybah, all of whom are three brothers. Abu Bakr is trustworthy, Uthman is acceptable, and Al-Qasim is not trustworthy.
"I heard the Messenger of Allah say: 'When you see the dead, say something good, for the angels say Amin to whatever you say; When Abu Salamah died, I said: 'O Messenger of Allah, what should I say?' He said: 'Say" Allahummaghfirlanaa wa lahu wa a 'qibni minhu 'uqbai hasanah (O Allah, forgive us and him, and compensate me well for this loss.)"' Then Allah, the Mighty and Sublime, compensated me with Muhammad." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 1825)
3.4 [Machine] The teaching/instruction of the deceased
‘Urge your dying ones to say La ilaha illallah.” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 1444)
"The Messenger of Allah said: 'Prompt your dying ones to say La ilaha illahllah (there is none worthy of worship except Allah)."' (Using translation from Nasāʾī 1827)
3.5 [Machine] The Sign of Death of the Believer
“The believer dies with sweat on his brow.” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 1452)
"I heard the Messenger of Allah say: 'The believer dies with sweat on his forehead."' (Using translation from Nasāʾī 1829)
3.6 [Machine] The severity of death
The Prophet ﷺ died while he was between my chest and chin, so I never dislike the death agony for anyone after the Prophet. (Using translation from Bukhārī 4446)
3.7 [Machine] Death on Monday
"The last time I saw the Messenger of Allah, he drew back the curtain when the people were in rows behind Abu Bakr, may Allah be pleased with him. Abu Bakr wanted to step back, but he gestured to them to stay as they were, and let the curtain drop. He died at the end of that day, and that was a Monday." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 1831)
3.8 [Machine] Death without being born
[Machine] A man died in the city where he was born, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ offered the funeral prayer for him. The Messenger ﷺ said, "I wish he had died in a place other than his birthplace." They asked, "Why, O Messenger of Allah?" He replied, "When a person dies in a place other than his birthplace, it is as if he has traveled from his birthplace to the point where his footprints end in Paradise." Abu Abdur-Rahman Huwayy ibn Abdullah said to us, "He is not a reliable narrator for us, and this hadith is not well-preserved. Allah knows best. For the authentic narration from the Prophet ﷺ is, 'Whoever among you is able to die in Madinah, then I will intercede for him.'"
3.9 [Machine] What the believer experiences of dignity upon the departure of his soul
"When the believer is dying, the angels of mercy come to him with white silk and sya: 'Come out content and with the pleasure of Allah upon you to the mercy of Allah, fragrance and a Lord Who is not angry; So it comes out like the best fragrance of musk. They pass him from one to another until they bring him to the gate of heaven, where they say: '; How good is this fragrance that has come to you from the Earth! Then the souls of the believers come to him and they rejoice more over him than any one of you rejoices when his absent loved one comes to him. They ask him: 'What happened to so-and-so, what happened to so-and-so?' They say: 'Let him be, for he was in the hardship of the world. When he says, 'Did he not come here?' They say: 'He was taken to the pit (of Hell).' Come out discontent, subject of Divine wrath, to the punishment of Allah, the Mighty and Sublime; So it comes out like the foulest stench of a corpse. They bring him to the gates of the Earth, where they say: 'How foul is this stench!' Then they bring him to the souls of the disbelievers." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 1833)
3.10 [Machine] Who loved to meet Allah?
He who loves meeting Allah, Allah loves to meet him, and he who dislikes to meet Allah, Allah abhors to meet him. I (Shuraih b. Hani, one of the narrators) came to A'isha and said to her: Mother of the faithful, I heard Abu Huraira narrate from Messenger of Allah ﷺ which, if it is actually so, is a destruction to us. Thereupon she said: Those are in fact ruined who are ruined at the words of Messenger of Allah ﷺ. What are (the words which in your opinion would cause your destruction)? He said that Messenger of Allah ﷺ had stated: He who loves to meet Allah, Allah too loves to meet him, and he who dislikes to meet Allah, Allah too abhors to meet him, and there is none amongst us who dons not hate death. Thereupon she said: Messenger of Allah ﷺ has in fact stated this, but it does not mean what you construe, but it implies (the time) when one loses the lustre of the eye, and there is rattling in the throat, shudder in the body and convulsion in fingers (at the time of death). (It is about this time) that it has been said: He who loves to meet Allah, Allah would love to meet him, and he who dislikes to meet Allah, Allah would abhor to meet him (Using translation from Muslim 2685a)
Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Allah said, 'If My slaves loves the meeting with Me, I too love the meeting with him; and if he dislikes the meeting with Me, I too dislike the meeting with him.' " (See Hadith No. 514, Vol. 8) (Using translation from Bukhārī 7504)

“Whoever loves to meet Allah, Allah loves to meet him, and whoever hates to meet Allah, Allah hates to meet him.” It was said to him: “O Messenger of Allah, does hating to meet Allah mean hating to meet death? For all of us hate death.” He said: “No. Rather that is only at the moment of death. But if he is given the glad tidings of the mercy and forgiveness of Allah, he loves to meet Allah and Allah loves to meet him; and if he is given the tidings of the punishment of Allah, he hates to meet Allah and Allah hates to meet him.” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 4264)

that Abu Bakr kissed the Prophet between the eyes when he had died. (Using translation from Nasāʾī 1839)
It was narrated from Ibn ‘Abbas and ‘Aishah that Abu Bakr kissed the Prophet ﷺ when he died. (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 1457)
Abu Bakr came riding a horse from his home in As-Sunuh, then he dismounted and entered the Masjid. He did not speak to the people until he met 'Aishah and the Messenger of Allah was covered with a Hibrah Burd. He uncovered his face, bent over him and kissed him, and wept. Then he said: "May my father be ransomed for you. By Allah! Allah will never cause you to die twice; the death that was decreed for you, you have died." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 1841)
3.12 [Machine] The Recording of the Deceased
"My father was brought on the day of Uhud and he had been mutilated. He was placed in front of the Messenger of Allah covered with a cloth. I wanted to uncover him but my people forbade m3e to do so. The Prophet ordered that he was lifted up, he heard the voice of a woman weeping. He said: 'Who is this?' They said: 'This is the daughter of 'Amr, or the sister of 'Amr.' He said: 'Do not weep, or 'She should not weep, for the angels kept on shading him with their wings until he was lifted up,"" (Using translation from Nasāʾī 1842)

3.13 [Machine] In weeping over the deceased
"When a young daughter of the Messenger of Allah was dying, the Messenger of Allah picked her up and held her to his chest, then he put his hand on her, and she died in front of the Messenger of Allah. Umm Ayman wept and the Messenger of Allah said 'Oh Umm Ayman, do you weep while the Messenger of Allah is with you?' She said: 'Why shouldn't I weep when the Messenger of Allah is weeping."
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to visit Abdullah ibn Thabit who was ill. He found that he was dominated (by the divine decree). The Messenger of Allah ﷺ called him loudly, but he did not respond. He uttered the Qur'anic verse "We belong to Allah and to Him do we return" and he said: We have been dominated against you, AburRabi'. Then the women cried and wept, and Ibn Atik began to silence them. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Leave them, when the divine decree is made, no woman should weep. They (the people) asked: What is necessary happening, Messenger of Allah? He replied: Death. His daughter said: I hope you will be a martyr, for you have completed your preparations for jihad. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Allah Most High gave him a reward according to his intentions. What do you consider martyrdom? They said: Being killed in the cause of Allah. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: There are seven types of martyrdom in addition to being killed in Allah's cause: one who dies of plague is a martyr; one who is drowned is a martyr; one who dies of pleurisy is a martyr; one who dies of an internal complaint is a martyr; one who is burnt to death is a martyr; who one is killed by a building falling on him is a martyr; and a woman who dies while pregnant is a martyr.
