3. Funerals
٣۔ كِتَابُ الْجَنَائِزِ
"Wear white clothes for they are purer and better, and shroud your dead in them."' (Using translation from Nasāʾī 1897)
«كُفِّنَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ فِي ثَلَاثَةِ أَثْوَابٍ سُحُولٍ بِيضٍ»
Messenger of Allah ﷺ was shrouded in three pieces of cloth which were made of white Suhul and neither a shirt nor a turban were used. (Using translation from Bukhārī 1273)
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ «كُفِّنَ فِي ثَلَاثَةِ أَثْوَابٍ بِيضٍ سَحُولِيَّةٍ لَيْسَ فِيهَا قَمِيصٌ وَلَا عِمَامَةٌ»
the Messenger of Allah was shrouded in three white Yemeni garments of cotton, among which was no shirt and no turban. It was mentioned to 'Aishah that they said: "He was buried in two garments and a Burd made of Hibrah." She said: "A Burd was brought, but they sent it back and did not shroud him in it." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 1899)
«كُفِّنَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ فِي ثَلَاثَةِ أَثْوَابٍ بِيضٍ يَمَانِيَةٍ كُرْسُفٍ لَيْسَ فِيهَا قَمِيصٌ وَلَا عِمَامَةٌ» قَالَ فَذُكِرَ لِعَائِشَةَ قَوْلُهُمْ فِي ثَوْبَيْنِ وَبُرْدٍ حِبَرَةٍ قَالَتْ قَدْ أُتِيَ بِالْبُرْدِ وَلَكِنَّهُمْ رَدُّوهُ وَلَمْ يُكَفِّنُوهُ فِيهِ
