[Machine] I heard the Prophet ﷺ saying, "This Ummah (nation) will have twelve successors."  

أحمد:٢١٠١٣حَدَّثَنَا مُؤَمَّلُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ حَدَّثَنَا دَاوُدُ بْنُ أَبِي هِنْدٍ عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ قَالَ

سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ يَقُولُ يَكُونُ لِهَذِهِ الْأُمَّةِ اثْنَا عَشَرَ خَلِيفَةً  

ahmad:21014Muʿāwiyah b. ʿAmr > Zāʾidah > Simāk > Jābir b. Samurah > Nubbiʾt

This religion will continue to exist, and a group of people from the Muslims will continue to fight for its protection until the Hour is established. (Using translation from Muslim 1922)  

أحمد:٢١٠١٤حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو حَدَّثَنَا زَائِدَةُ حَدَّثَنَا سِمَاكٌ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ قَالَ نُبِّئْتُ

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ لَنْ يَبْرَحَ هَذَا الدِّينُ قَائِمًا يُقَاتِلُ عَلَيْهِ عِصَابَةٌ مِنَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ حَتَّى تَقُومَ السَّاعَةُ  

ahmad:21015ʿAffān > Abū ʿAwānah > ʿUthmān b. ʿAbdullāh b. Mawhab > Jaʿfar b. Abū Thawr > Jābir b. Samurah

[Machine] I was sitting with the Prophet ﷺ when a man came to him and said, "O Messenger of Allah, do you perform ablution with the sheep's meat?" He replied, "If you wish, you may perform ablution with it, and if you wish, you may not." The man then asked, "Should I perform ablution with the camel's meat?" He replied, "Yes, perform ablution with the camel's meat." The man further asked, "Can we pray in the blessed grazing places of camels?" He replied, "No." Then the man asked, "Should we pray in the sheepfolds?" He replied, "Yes, pray in the sheepfolds."  

أحمد:٢١٠١٥حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مَوْهَبٍ عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ أَبِي ثَوْرٍ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ قَالَ

كُنْتُ قَاعِدًا مَعَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَأَتَاهُ رَجُلٌ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَنَتَوَضَّأُ مِنْ لُحُومِ الْغَنَمِ؟ قَالَ إِنْشِئْتَ تَوَضَّأْ مِنْهُ وَإِنْ شِئْتَ لَا تَوَضَّأْ قَالَ أَفَأَتَوَضَّأُ مِنْ لُحُومِ الْإِبِلِ؟ قَالَ نَعَمْ فَتَوَضَّأْ مِنْ لُحُومِ الْإِبِلِ قَالَ فَنُصَلِّي فِي مَبَارِكِ الْإِبِلِ؟ قَالَ لَا قَالَ أَنُصَلِّي فِي مَرَابِضِ الْغَنَمِ؟ قَالَ نَعَمْ صَلِّ فِي مَرَابِضِ الْغَنَمِ

The Apostle of Allah ﷺ used to offer the noon prayer when the sun declined. (Using translation from Muslim 618)

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يُصَلِّي الظُّهْرَ إِذَا دَحَضَتْ الشَّمْسُ

Jabir b. Samurah reported that Bilal used to call for the noon prayer when the sun had declined. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 403)

كَانَ بِلَالٌ يُؤَذِّنُ إِذَا دَحَضَتِالشَّمْسُ

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to recite in the noon and afternoon prayer: "By the Heaven and the Morning Star" (Surah 86) and "By the Heaven , holding mansions of the stars" (Surah 85) and similar surahs of equal length. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 805)  

أحمد:٢١٠١٨حَدَّثَنَا بَهْزٌ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ عَنْ سِمَاكٍ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ كَانَ يَقْرَأُ فِي الظُّهْرِ وَالْعَصْرِ بِ وَالسَّمَاءِ وَالطَّارِقِ وَالسَّمَاءِ ذَاتِ الْبُرُوجِ وَنَحْوَهُمَا مِنَ السُّورِ 2)

Jabir b. Samurah reported that Bilal used to call for the noon prayer when the sun had declined. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 403)  

أحمد:٢١٠١٩حَدَّثَنَا بَهْزٌ وَأَبُو كَامِلٍ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ حَدَّثَنَا سِمَاكُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ

أَنَّ بِلَالًا كَانَ يُؤَذِّنُ بِالظُّهْرِ إِذَا دَحَضَتِ الشَّمْسُ

I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: Islam will continue to be triumphant until there have been twelve Caliphs. Then the Prophet ﷺ said something which I could not understand. I asked my father: What did he say? He said: He has said that all of them (twelve Caliphs) will be from the Quraish. (Using translation from Muslim 1821d)

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ لَا يَزَالُ الْإِسْلَامُ عَزِيزًا إِلَى اثْنَيْ عَشَرَ خَلِيفَةً ثُمَّ قَالَ كَلِمَةً خَفِيَّةً لَمْ أَفْهَمْهَا قَالَ قُلْتُ لِأَبِي مَا قَالَ؟ قَالَ كُلُّهُمْ مِنْ قُرَيْشٍ

[Machine] I heard the Prophet ﷺ saying, "Before the Hour, there will be many liars."  

أحمد:٢١٠٢١حَدَّثَنَا بَهْزٌ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ عَنْ سِمَاكٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ جَابِرَ بْنَ سَمُرَةَ يَقُولُ

سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ يَقُولُ بَيْنَ يَدَيِ السَّاعَةِ كَذَّابُونَ

[Machine] "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Indeed, Allah named it Tabah.' Surayj said, 'Yathrib is the city.'"  

أحمد:٢١٠٢٢حَدَّثَنَا بَهْزٌ وَسُرَيْجٌ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ عَنْ سِمَاكٍ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ قَالَ كَانَ النَّاسُ يَقُولُونَ يَثْرِبَ وَالْمَدِينَةَ فَقَالَ

رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِنَّ اللهَ سَمَّاهَا طَابَةَ قَالَ سُرَيْجٌ يَثْرِبُ الْمَدِينَةُ

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to send his blessing when he ate food and sent it to Abu Ayub. Abu Ayub would place his fingers where the Prophet's fingers had been and when the food was brought to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , he found the smell of garlic in it so he did not eat it and sent it to Abu Ayub. Abu Ayub did not find the smell of the Prophet's fingers in it, so he said, "O Messenger of Allah, I did not find the smell of your fingers in it." He replied, "I found the smell of garlic in it." Abu Ayub said, "Shall I be sent something that you do not eat?" He said, "Indeed, it is brought to me by the angels."  

أحمد:٢١٠٢٣حَدَّثَنَا بَهْزٌ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ حَدَّثَنَا سِمَاكٌ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ كَانَ إِذَا أَكَلَ طَعَامًا بَعَثَ بِفَضْلِهِ إِلَى أَبِي أَيُّوبَ وَكَانَ أَبُو أَيُّوبَ يَضَعُ أَصَابِعَهُ حَيْثُيَرَى أَصَابِعَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَأُتِيَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ بِطَعَامٍ فَوَجَدَ فِيهِ رِيحَ ثُومٍ فَلَمْ يَأْكُلْ وَبَعَثَ بِهِ إِلَى أَبِي أَيُّوبَ فَلَمْ يَرَ فِيهِ أَثَرَ أَصَابِعِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنِّي لَمْ أَرَ فِيهِ أَثَرَ أَصَابِعِكَ؟ قَالَ إِنِّي وَجَدْتُ مِنْهُ رِيحَ ثُومٍ قَالَ أَتَبْعَثُ إِلَيَّ مَا لَسْتَ آكِلًا؟ قَالَ إِنَّهُ يَأْتِينِي الْمَلَكُ  

ahmad:21024Wakīʿ > al-Aʿmash > al-Musayyab b. Rāfiʿ > Tamīm b. Ṭarafah al-Ṭāʾī > Jābir b. Samurah al-Suwāʾī

“The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: ‘Will you not form your rows as the angels form their rows before their Lord?’ We said: ‘How do the angels form their rows before their Lord?’ He said: ‘They complete the first row and they stand close of one another in the line (leaving no gaps between one another).’” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 992)  

أحمد:٢١٠٢٤حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ حَدَّثَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ عَنْ الْمُسَيَّبِ بْنِ رَافِعٍ عَنْ تَمِيمِ بْنِ طَرَفَةَ الطَّائِيِّ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ السُّوَائِيِّ قَالَ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَلَا تَصُفُّونَ كَمَا تَصُفُّ الْمَلَائِكَةُ عِنْدَ رَبِّهَا؟ قَالَ قُلْنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ وَكَيْفَ تَصُفُّ الْمَلَائِكَةُ عِنْدَ رَبِّهَا؟ قَالَ يُتَمِّمُونَ الصُّفُوفَ الْأُوَلَ وَيَتَرَاصُّونَ فِي الصَّفِّ

[Machine] The prayer of the Prophet ﷺ was intentional, and so was his sermon.  

أحمد:٢١٠٢٥حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ عَنْ سُفْيَانَ عَنْ سِمَاكِ بْنِ حَرْبٍ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ قَالَ

كَانَتْ صَلَاةُ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَصْدًاوَخُطْبَتُهُ قَصْدًا  

ahmad:21026Wakīʿ > al-Aʿmash > al-Musayyab b. Rāfiʿ > Tamīm b. Ṭarafah > Jābir b. Samurah

[Machine] The prayer of the Prophet ﷺ was intentional and his sermon was intentional.  

أحمد:٢١٠٢٦حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ حَدَّثَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ عَنْ الْمُسَيَّبِ بْنِ رَافِعٍ عَنْ تَمِيمِ بْنِ طَرَفَةَ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ قَالَ

كَانَتْ صَلَاةُ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَصْدًا وَخُطْبَتُهُ قَصْدًا  

ahmad:21027Wakīʿ > al-Aʿmash > al-Musayyab b. Rāfiʿ > Tamīm b. Ṭarafah > Jābir b. Samurah

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ entered upon us while we were raising our hands in prayer, and he said, "Why do I see you raising your hands as if they were the ears of horses? Keep them calm in prayer." He then entered the mosque while we were sitting in circles. He said, "Why do I see you sitting apart?"  

أحمد:٢١٠٢٧حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ حَدَّثَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ عَنِ الْمُسَيَّبِ بْنِ رَافِعٍ عَنْ تَمِيمِ بْنِ طَرَفَةَ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ قَالَ

دَخَلَ عَلَيْنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَنَحْنُ رَافِعِو أَيْدِينَا فِي الصَّلَاةِ فَقَالَ مَا لِي أَرَاكُمْ رَافِعِي أَيْدِيكُمْ كَأَنَّهَا أَذْنَابُ خَيْلٍ شُمْسٍ اسْكُنُوا فِي الصَّلَاةِ قَالَ وَدَخَلَ عَلَيْنَا الْمَسْجِدَ وَنَحْنُ حِلَقٌ مُتَفَرِّقُونَ فَقَالَ مَا لِي أَرَاكُمْ عِزِينَ  

ahmad:21028Wakīʿ > Misʿar > ʿUbaydullāh Ibn al-Qibṭiyyah > Jābir b. Samurah

When we prayed behind the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, one of us gave the salutation and pointed with his hand to the man to his right side and left side. When he finished his prayer, he said: What is the matter that one of you points with his hand (during prayer) just like the tails of restive horses. It is sufficient for one of you, or is it not sufficient for one of you to say in this manner? And he pointed with his finger; one should salute his brother at his right and left side. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 998)   

أحمد:٢١٠٢٨حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ حَدَّثَنَا مِسْعَرٌ عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ ابْنِ الْقِبْطِيَّةِ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ قَالَ

كُنَّا إِذَا صَلَّيْنَا خَلْفَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ أَشَارَ أَحَدُنَا إِلَى أَخِيهِ مِنْ عَنْ يَمِينِهِ وَمِنْ عَنْ شِمَالِهِ فَلَمَّا صَلَّى رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ مَا بَالُ أَحَدِكُمْ يَفْعَلُ هَذَا كَأَنَّهَا أَذْنَابُ خَيْلٍ شُمْسٍ إِنَّمَا يَكْفِي أَحَدَكُمْ أَنْ يَقُولَ هَكَذَا وَوَضَعَ يَمِينَهُ عَلَى فَخِذِهِ وَأَشَارَ بِأُصْبُعِهِ ثُمَّ يُسَلِّمُ عَلَى أَخِيهِ مِنْ عَنْ يَمِينِهِ وَمِنْ عَنْ شِمَالِهِ

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was not given the permission to make the call to prayer, nor was the prayer of the two Eids established for him.  

أحمد:٢١٠٢٩حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ حَدَّثَنَا شَرِيكٌ عَنْ سِمَاكِ بْنِ حَرْبٍ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ قَالَ

لَمْ يَكُنْ يُؤَذَّنُ لِرَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ وَلَا يُقَامُ لَهُ فِي الْعِيدَيْنِ  

ahmad:21030Wakīʿ > Isrāʾīl Washarīk Waḥajjāj > Sharīk > Simāk > Jābir b. Samurah > a man Qatal Nafsah

[Machine] Hajjaj during the time of the Prophet ﷺ and the Prophet ﷺ did not pray upon him.  

أحمد:٢١٠٣٠حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْرَائِيلُ وَشَرِيكٌ وَحَجَّاجٌ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا شَرِيكٌ عَنْ سِمَاكٍ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ أَنَّ رَجُلًا قَتَلَ نَفْسَهُ قَالَ

حَجَّاجٌ عَلَى عَهْدِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَلَمْ يُصَلِّ عَلَيْهِ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ  

ahmad:21031Wakīʿ > Isrāʾīl > Simāk > Jābir b. Samurah

[Machine] I saw it, like the color of a dove's egg, resembling the color of its body.  

أحمد:٢١٠٣١حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْرَائِيلُ عَنْ سِمَاكٍ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ قَالَ

رَأَيْتُهَا مِثْلَ بَيْضَةِ الْحَمَامَةِ لَوْنُهَا لَوْنُ جَسَدِهِ

[Machine] That the Prophet (PBUH) used to sit in his place of worship after performing the morning prayer until the sun rises.  

أحمد:٢١٠٣٢حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ سِمَاكِ بْنِ حَرْبٍعَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ كَانَ يَجْلِسُ فِي مُصَلَّاهُ إِذَا صَلَّى الْغَدَاةَ حَتَّى تَطْلُعَ الشَّمْسُ حَسْنَاءَ  

ahmad:21033Wakīʿ > Fiṭr > Abū Khālid al-Wālibī > Jābir b. Samurah

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "This matter (Islam) will continue to exist and stay strong until there are twelve caliphs, all of whom are from the Quraysh tribe."  

أحمد:٢١٠٣٣حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ عَنْ فِطْرٍ عَنْ أَبِي خَالِدٍ الْوَالِبِيِّ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ قَالَ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لَا يَزَالُ هَذَا الْأَمْرُ مُوَائِمًا أَوْ مُقَارِبًا حَتَّى يَقُومَ اثْنَا عَشَرَ خَلِيفَةً كُلُّهُمْ مِنْ قُرَيْشٍ

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ used to mention in his sermon.  

أحمد:٢١٠٣٤حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ عَنْ سُفْيَانَ عَنْ سِمَاكٍ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ كَانَ يُذَكِّرُ فِي خُطْبَتِهِ

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ used to sit between the two sermons and recite verses from the Quran, and his prayers were short and his sermons were concise. 21036 It was narrated to us by Waki' from Israel from Simak from Jabir ibn Samurah who said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Indeed, before the Hour there will be liars."  

أحمد:٢١٠٣٥حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ عَنْ سُفْيَانَ عَنْ سِمَاكٍ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ كَانَ يَجْلِسُ بَيْنَ الْخُطْبَتَيْنِ وَيَتْلُو آيَاتٍ مِنَ الْقُرْآنِ وَكَانَتْ صَلَاتُهُ قَصْدًا وَخُطْبَتُهُ قَصْدًا 21036 حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ عَنْ إِسْرَائِيلَ عَنْ سِمَاكٍ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِنَّ بَيْنَ يَدَيِ السَّاعَةِ كَذَّابِينَ  

ahmad:21037ʿAbd al-Raḥman > Sufyān > Simāk > Jābir b. Samurah

[Machine] I heard Jabir ibn Samurah say, "When the Prophet ﷺ prayed Fajr, he would sit in his place of prayer until the sun rose beautifully or until the sun rose high."  

أحمد:٢١٠٣٧حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ عَنْ سُفْيَانَ عَنْ سِمَاكٍ قَالَ

سَمِعْتُ جَابِرَ بْنَ سَمُرَةَ يَقُولُ كَانَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ إِذَا صَلَّى الصُّبْحَ جَلَسَ فِي مُصَلَّاهُ حَتَّى تَطْلُعَ الشَّمْسُ حَسْنَاءَ أَوْ تَرْتَفِعَ الشَّمْسُ حَسْنَاءَ

"The Prophet ﷺ used to deliver the Khutbah standing, then he would sit down, then he would stand up and recite some verses and remember Allah (SWT). And his Khutbah was moderate in length, and his prayer was moderate in length." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 1584)  

أحمد:٢١٠٣٨حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ عَنْ سُفْيَانَ عَنْ سِمَاكٍ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ كَانَ يَخْطُبُ قَائِمًا وَيَجْلِسُ ثُمَّ يَقُومُ وَيَقْرَأُ آيَاتٍ وَيَذْكُرُ اللهَ وَكَانَتْ خُطْبَتُهُ قَصْدًا وَصَلَاتُهُقَصْدًا  

ahmad:21039ʿAbd al-Raḥman b. Mahdī > Sufyān > ʿAbd al-Malik b. ʿUmayr > Jābir b. Samurah > Jiʾt

[Machine] I and my father came to the Prophet ﷺ while he was saying, "This matter will continue to be good until there are twelve leaders." Then he said a word that I did not understand, so I asked my father, "What did he say?" He said, "He said, 'All of them will be from Quraysh.'"  

أحمد:٢١٠٣٩حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ عَنْ سُفْيَانَ عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ قَالَ

جِئْتُ أَنَا وَأَبِي إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ وَهُوَ يَقُولُ لَا يَزَالُ هَذَا الْأَمْرُ صَالِحًا حَتَّى يَكُونَ اثْنَا عَشَرَ أَمِيرًا ثُمَّ قَالَ كَلِمَةً لَمْ أَفْهَمْهَا قُلْتُ لِأَبِي مَا قَالَ؟ قَالَ قَالَ كُلُّهُمْ مِنْ قُرَيْشٍ

When we came to the Prophet ﷺ, each one would sit down where there was room. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 4825)

كُنَّا إِذَا انْتَهَيْنَا إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ جَلَسَ أَحَدُنَا حَيْثُ يَنْتَهِي

[Machine] The Prophet of Allah ﷺ stoned Ma'iz ibn Malik but did not mention any lashes.

ahmad:21042ʿAbd al-Raḥman b. Mahdī > Sufyān > al-Aʿmash > al-Musayyab b. Rāfiʿ > Tamīm b. Ṭarafah > Jābir b. Samurah

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: The people who lift their eyes towards the sky in Prayer should avoid it or they would lose their eyesight. (Using translation from Muslim 428)

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ لَيَنْتَهِيَنَّ أَقْوَامٌ يَرْفَعُونَ أَبْصَارَهُمْ إِلَى السَّمَاءِ فِي الصَّلَاةِ أَوْ لَا تَرْجِعُ إِلَيْهِمْ

Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "I have been sent and the Hour (is at hand) as these two (fingers). (Using translation from Bukhārī 6504)

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ بُعِثْتُ أَنَا وَالسَّاعَةُ كَهَاتَيْنِ

[Machine] Narrated by the Prophet ﷺ , a man came to him and asked, "Can I perform ablution with sheep meat?" The Prophet replied, "No." The man then asked, "Can I pray in their sheep pens?" The Prophet answered, "Yes, if you wish." The man further asked, "Can I perform ablution with camel meat?" The Prophet again replied, "Yes." Finally, the man asked, "Can I pray in their watering places?" The Prophet replied, "No."  

أحمد:٢١٠٤٤حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ حَدَّثَنَا زَائِدَةُ عَنْ سِمَاكٍ عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ أَبِي ثَوْرٍ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّ رَجُلًا أَتَاهُ فَقَالَ أَتَوَضَّأُ مِنْ لُحُومِ الْغَنَمِ؟ قَالَ لَا قَالَ فَأُصَلِّي فِي مَرَابِضِهَا؟ قَالَ نَعَمْ إِنْ شِئْتَ قَالَ فَأَتَوَضَّأُ مِنْ لُحُومِ الْإِبِلِ؟ قَالَ نَعَمْ قَالَ أَفَأُصَلِّي فِي أَعْطَانِهَا؟ قَالَ لَا

This religion will continue to exist, and a group of people from the Muslims will continue to fight for its protection until the Hour is established. (Using translation from Muslim 1922)

ahmad:21046ʿAbd al-Raḥman b. Mahdī > Shuʿbah > Simāk b. Ḥarbʿan Jābir b. Samurah

[Machine] I heard the Prophet ﷺ say one time, "I heard Jabir, meaning Ibn Samurah, say that the Prophet ﷺ called the city Tabah."  

أحمد:٢١٠٤٦حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ سِمَاكِ بْنِ حَرْبٍعَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ قَالَ

سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ وَقَالَ مَرَّةً سَمِعْتُ جَابِرًا يَعْنِي ابْنَ سَمُرَةَ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ سَمَّى الْمَدِيَنَةَ طَابَةَ

"The Prophet ﷺ used to recite "By the night as it envelops" in Zuhr and something similar in 'Asr, and he would recite something longer than that in subh." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 980)   

أحمد:٢١٠٤٧حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ سِمَاكٍ عَنْ جَابِرٍ قَالَ

كَانَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ يَقْرَأُ فِي الظُّهْرِ وَالْعَصْرِ بِاللَّيْلِ إِذَا يَغْشَى وَفِي الصُّبْحِ أَطْوَلَ مِنْ ذَلِكَ  

ahmad:21048ʿAbd al-Raḥman And ʿAffān > Ḥammād b. Salamah > Simāk

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to recite in the noon and afternoon prayer: "By the Heaven and the Morning Star" (Surah 86) and "By the Heaven , holding mansions of the stars" (Surah 85) and similar surahs of equal length. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 805)

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَقْرَأُ فِي الظُّهْرِ وَالْعَصْرِ بِ وَالسَّمَاءِ ذَاتِ الْبُرُوجِ وَالسَّمَاءِ وَالطَّارِقِ وَنَحْوِهِمَا قَالَ عَفَّانُ وَنَحْوِهِمَا مِنَ السُّوَرِ

[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "Indeed, Allah named the city as Ta'ba."

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ إِنَّ اللهَ سَمَّى الْمَدِينَةَ طَابَةَ  

ahmad:21050ʿUmar b. ʿUbayd Abū Ḥafṣ > Simāk > Jābir

[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "After me, there will be twelve leaders." Then he spoke something which I could not understand. He said, so I asked someone who was with me, "What did he say?" He said, "All of them are from the Quraysh."  

أحمد:٢١٠٥٠حَدَّثَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ أَبُو حَفْصٍ عَنْ سِمَاكٍ عَنْ جَابِرٍ قَالَ

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ يَكُونُ بَعْدِي اثْنَا عَشَرَ أَمِيرًا قَالَ ثُمَّ تَكَلَّمَ فَخَفِيَ عَلَيَّ مَا قَالَ قَالَ فَسَأَلْتُ بَعْضَ الْقَوْمِ أَوِ الَّذِي يَلِينِي مَا قَالَ؟ قَالَ كُلُّهُمْ مِنْ قُرَيْشٍ

[Machine] I have never seen the Messenger of Allah ﷺ delivering a sermon while standing.  

أحمد:٢١٠٥١حَدَّثَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ عَنْ سِمَاكٍ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ قَالَ

مَا رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَخْطُبُ إِلَّا قَائِمًا  

ahmad:21052Sulaymān b. Dāwud > Shuʿbah > Abū Isḥāq > Saʿīd b. Wahb > Khabbāb

[Machine] I heard Khabbab saying, "We complained to the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , about our hardships during Ramadan, but he did not sympathize with us." Shu'bah said that he meant complaining about the midday heat.  

أحمد:٢١٠٥٢حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ دَاوُدَ أَخْبَرَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ سَعِيدَ بْنَ وَهْبٍ يَقُولُ

سَمِعْتُ خَبَّابًا يَقُولُ شَكَوْنَا إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ الرَّمْضَاءَ فَلَمْ يُشْكِنَا قَالَ شُعْبَةُ يَعْنِي فِي الظُّهْرِ

[Machine] "Khabbab reported from his father Khabbab ibn al-Aratt, the freed slave of Banu Zuhrah, who had witnessed the Battle of Badr with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ . He said, 'I observed the Messenger of Allah ﷺ one night until he performed the entire night prayer, even until dawn. When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ finished his prayer, Khabbab came to him and said, 'O Messenger of Allah, I swear by my father and mother, you prayed tonight in a manner I have never witnessed before.' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ replied, 'Indeed, it was a prayer of desire and fear. I asked my Lord for three things, and He granted me two and withheld one. I asked my Lord not to destroy us with what destroyed previous nations, and He granted it to me. I asked my Lord not to expose us to an enemy other than ourselves, and He granted it to me. And I asked my Lord not to make us wear garments of conflict, and He withheld it from me.'"  

أحمد:٢١٠٥٣حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَيَّاشٍ الْحِمْصِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا شُعَيْبُ بْنُ أَبِي حَمْزَةَ ح وَأَبُو الْيَمَانِ أَخْبَرَنَا شُعَيْبٌ قَالَ وَقَالَ الزُّهْرِيُّ حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ نَوْفَلٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ

خَبَّابٍعَنْ أَبِيهِ خَبَّابِ بْنِ الْأَرَتِّ مَوْلَى بَنِي زُهْرَةَ وَكَانَ قَدْ شَهِدَ بَدْرًا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ أَنَّهُ قَالَ رَاقَبْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فِي لَيْلَةٍ صَلَّاهَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ كُلَّهَا حَتَّى كَانَ مَعَ الْفَجْرِ فَلَمَّا سَلَّمَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مِنْ صَلَاتِهِ جَاءَهُ خَبَّابٌ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ بِأَبِي أَنْتَ وَأُمِّي لَقَدْ صَلَّيْتَ اللَّيْلَةَ صَلَاةً مَا رَأَيْتُكَ صَلَّيْتَ نَحْوَهَا؟ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَجَلْ إِنَّهَا صَلَاةُ رَغَبٍ وَرَهَبٍ سَأَلْتُ رَبِّي ثَلَاثَ خِصَالٍ فَأَعْطَانِي اثْنَتَيْنِ وَمَنَعَنِي وَاحِدَةً سَأَلْتُ رَبِّي أَنْ لَا يُهْلِكَنَا بِمَا أَهْلَكَ بِهِ الْأُمَمَ قَبْلَنَا فَأَعْطَانِيهَا وَسَأَلْتُ رَبِّي أَنْ لَا يُظْهِرَ عَلَيْنَا عَدُوًّا غَيْرَنَا فَأَعْطَانِيهَا وَسَأَلْتُ رَبِّي أَنْ لَا يَلْبِسَنَا شِيَعًا فَمَنَعَنِيهَا  

ahmad:21054Aswad b. ʿĀmir > Sharīk > Abū Isḥāq > Ḥārithah > Ataynā Khabbāb Naʿūduh > Lawlā Annī

Had Messenger of Allah ﷺ not stated this.." None should make a request for death," I would have definitely done that. (Using translation from Muslim 2680c)  

أحمد:٢١٠٥٤حَدَّثَنَا أَسْوَدُ بْنُ عَامِرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شَرِيكٌ عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ عَنْ حَارِثَةَ قَالَ أَتَيْنَا خَبَّابًا نَعُودُهُ فَقَالَ لَوْلَا أَنِّي

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ لَا يَتَمَنَّيَنَّ أَحَدُكُمُ الْمَوْتَ لَتَمَنَّيْتُهُ  

ahmad:21055Yaʿqūb from my father > Ṣāliḥ > Ibn Shihāb > ʿAbdullāh b. al-Ḥārith b. Nawfal > ʿAbdullāh b. Khabbāb b. al-Arat > Khabbāb

[Machine] "I observed the Messenger of Allah ﷺ praying a prayer until it was close to dawn. When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ finished his prayer, a man named Khabbab came to him and said, 'O Messenger of Allah, I swear by my mother and father, you have prayed until it resembled the narration of Shuayb.'"  

أحمد:٢١٠٥٥حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي عَنْ صَالِحٍ قَالَ ابْنُ شِهَابٍ أَخْبَرَنِي عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ نَوْفَلٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ خَبَّابِ بْنِ الْأَرَتِّ أَنَّ خَبَّابًا قَالَ

رَمَقْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فِي صَلَاةٍ صَلَّاهَا حَتَّى إِذَا كَانَ مَعَ الْفَجْرِ فَلَمَّا سَلَّمَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مِنْ صَلَاتِهِ جَاءَهُ خَبَّابٌ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ بِأَبِي أَنْتَ وَأُمِّي لَقَدْ صَلَّيْتَ فَذَكَرَ مِثْلَ حَدِيثِ شُعيْبٍ  

ahmad:21056Muḥammad b. Jaʿfar > Shuʿbah > Sulaymān > ʿUmārah b. ʿUmayr > Abū Maʿmar

[Machine] We asked Habbab, "Did the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to recite during noon?" He said, "Yes." We asked, "How did you know?" He replied, "Through the movement of his beard."  

أحمد:٢١٠٥٦حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ عُمَارَةَ بْنَ عُمَيْرٍ يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ أَبِي مَعْمَرٍ قَالَ

سَأَلْنَا خَبَّابًا أَكَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَقْرَأُ فِي الظُّهْرِ؟ قَالَ نَعَمْ قَالَ فَمِنْ أَيْنَ كُنْتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ؟ قَالَ بِتَحَرُّكِ لِحْيَتِهِ  

ahmad:21057Muḥammad b. ʿUbayd > Ismāʿīl > Qaysʿan Khabbāb

Khabbab said “We came to the Apostle of Allaah ﷺ while he was reclining on an outer garment in the shade of the Ka’bah. Complaining to him we said “Do you not ask Allaah for help for us? And do you not pray to Allaah for us? He sat aright turning red in his face and said “A man before you (i.e., in ancient times) was caught and a pit was dug for him in the earth and then a saw was brought placed on his head and it was broken into two pieces but that did not turn him away from his religion. They were combed in iron combs in flesh and sinews above the bones. Even that did not turn them away from their religion. I swear by Allaah, Allaah will accomplish this affair until a rider will travel between San’a and Hadramaut and he will not fear anyone except Allaah, Most High(nor will he fear the attack of) a wolf on his sheep, but you are making haste. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 2649)   

أحمد:٢١٠٥٧حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ عَنْ قَيْسٍعَنْ خَبَّابٍ قَالَ

أَتَيْنَا رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ وَهُوَ فِي ظِلِّ الْكَعْبَةِ مُتَوَسِّدًا بُرْدَةً لَهُ فَقُلْنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ ادْعُ اللهَ لَنَا وَاسْتَنْصِرْهُ قَالَ فَاحْمَرَّ لَوْنُهُ أَوْ تَغَيَّرَ فَقَالَ لَقَدْ كَانَ مَنْ كَانَ قَبْلَكُمْ يُحْفَرُ لَهُ حُفْرَةٌ وَيُجَاءُ بِالْمِنْشَارِ فَيُوضَعُ عَلَى رَأْسِهِ فَيُشَقُّ مَا يَصْرِفُهُ عَنْ دِينِهِ وَيُمْشَطُ بِأَمْشَاطِ الْحَدِيدِ مَا دُونَ عَظْمٍ مِنْ لَحْمٍ أَوْ عَصَبٍ مَا يَصْرِفُهُ عَنْ دِينِهِ وَلَيُتِمَّنَّ اللهُ هَذَا الْأَمْرَ حَتَّى يَسِيرَ الرَّاكِبُ مَا بَيْنَ صَنْعَاءَ إِلَى حَضْرَمَوْتَ لَا يَخْشَى إِلَّا اللهَ وَالذِّئْبَ عَلَى غَنَمِهِ وَلَكِنَّكُمْ تَعْجَلُونَ  

ahmad:21058[Chain 1] Yaḥyá > al-Aʿmash > Shaqīq > Khabbāb [Chain 2] al-Aʿmash > Shaqīq > Khabbāb

"We emigrated with the Messenger of Allah, seeking the Face of Allah, the Most High, so our reward became due from Allah. Some of us died without enjoying anything of his reward (in this world) among them is Mus'ab bin Umair. He was matyred on the day of Uhud and we could not find anything to shroud him in except a Namirah; if we covered his head with it, his feet were uncovered, and if we covered his feet with it, his head became uncovered. The Messenger of Allah told us to cover his head with it and to put Idhkhir over his feet. And for some of us, the fruits of our labor have ripened and we are gathering them." This is the wording of Isma'il (Using translation from Nasāʾī 1903)  

أحمد:٢١٠٥٨حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى قَالَ سَمِعْتُ الْأَعْمَشَ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ شَقِيقًا حَدَّثَنَا خَبَّابٌ ح وَأَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ حَدَّثَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ عَنْ شَقِيقٍ عَنْ خَبَّابٍ قَالَ

هَاجَرْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ نَبْتَغِي وَجْهَ اللهِ فَوَجَبَ أَجْرُنَا عَلَى اللهِ فَمِنَّا مَنْ مَضَى لَمْ يَأْكُلْ مِنْ أَجْرِهِ شَيْئًا مِنْهُمْ مُصْعَبُ بْنُ عُمَيْرٍ قُتِلَ يَوْمَ أُحُدٍ فَلَمْ نَجِدْ مَا نُكَفِّنُهُ فِيهِ إِلَّا نَمِرَةً كُنَّا إِذَا غَطَّيْنَا بِهَا رَأْسَهُ خَرَجَتْ رِجْلَاهُ وَإِذَا غَطَّيْنَا رِجْلَيْهِ خَرَجَ رَأْسُهُ فَأَمَرَنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَنْ نُغَطِّيَ بِهَا رَأْسَهُ وَنَجْعَلَ عَلَى رِجْلَيْهِ إِذْخِرًا وَمِنَّا مَنْ أَيْنَعَتْ لَهُ ثَمَرَتُهُ فَهُوَ يَهْدِبُهَا يَعْنِي يَجْتَنِيهَا

[Machine] We entered upon a bricklayer while he was constructing a wall. The Muslim said, "One is rewarded for everything except making it out of this mud." He had been affected by abdominal pain for seven days and said, "If it were not for the Prophet of Allah ﷺ forbidding us from praying for death, I would have prayed for it."  

أحمد:٢١٠٥٩حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي خَالِدٍ عَنْ قَيْسٍ قَالَ

دَخَلْنَا عَلَى خَبَّابٍ نَعُودُهُ وَهُوَ يَبْنِي حَائِطًا لَهُ فَقَالَ الْمُسْلِمُ يُؤْجَرُ فِي كُلِّ شَيْءٍ إْلَّا مَا يَجْعَلُ فِي هَذَا التُّرَابِوَقَدْ اكْتَوَى سَبْعًا فِي بَطْنِهِ وَقَالَ لَوْلَا أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ نَهَانَا أَنْ نَدْعُوَ بِالْمَوْتِ لَدَعَوْتُ بِهِ

“I said to Khabbab: ‘How did you recognize that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was reciting in the Zuhr and the ‘Asr?’ He said: ‘From the movement of his beard.’” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 826)  

أحمد:٢١٠٦٠حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ حَدَّثَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ عَنْ عُمَارَةَ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ عَنْ أَبِي مَعْمَرٍ قَالَ

قُلْنَا لِخَبَّابٍ بِأَيِّ شَيْءٍ كُنْتُمْ تَعْرِفُونَ قِرَاءَةَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فِي الظُّهْرِ وَالْعَصْرِ؟ قَالَ بِاضْطِرَابِ لِحْيَتِهِ

We asked Khabbab: Did the Messenger of Allah ﷺ recit (the Quran) in the noon and afternoon prayers? He replied: Yes. We then asked: How did you know this? He said: By the shaking of his beard, may peace be upon him. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 801)   

أحمد:٢١٠٦١حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ عَنْ سُفْيَانَ عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ الْأَعْمَشِ عَنْ عُمَارَةَ عَنْ أَبِي مَعْمَرٍ عَنْ خَبَّابٍ قَالَ

قِيلَ لَهُ كَانَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ يَقْرَأُ فِي الظُّهْرِ وَالْعَصْرِ؟ قَالَ نَعَمْ قِيلَ بِأَيِّ شَيْءٍ كُنْتُمْ تَعْرِفُونَ ذَلِكَ؟ قَالَ بِاضْطِرَابِ لِحْيَتِهِ

سَمِعْتُ عُمَارَةَ مَعْنَاهُ
