١٠۔ مسند البصريين ص ٢٥
The Apostle of Allah ﷺ used to recite in the noon prayer:" By the night when it envelopes" (xcii.), and in the afternoon like this, but he prolonged the morning prayer as compared to that (noon and afternoon prayers). (Using translation from Muslim 459)
كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَقْرَأُ فِي الظُّهْرِ وَاللَّيْلِ إِذَا يَغْشَى وَفِي الْعَصْرِ نَحْوَ ذَلِكَ وَفِي الصُّبْحِ أَطْوَلَ مِنْ ذَلِكَ
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to us and said: "How is it that I see you lifting your hands like the tails of headstrong horses? Be calm in prayer." He (the narrator) said: He then again came to us and saw us (sitting) in circles. He said: "How is it that I see you in separate groups?" He (the narrator) said: He again came to us and said: "Why don't you draw yourselves up in rows as angels do in the presence of their Lord?" We said: Messenger of Allah, how do the angels draw themselves up in rows in the presence of their Lord? He (the Holy Prophet) said: "They make the first rows complete and keep close together in the row." (Using translation from Muslim 430a)
خَرَجَ عَلَيْنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ ذَاتَ يَوْمٍ فَقَالَ مَا لِي أَرَاكُمْ رَافِعِي أَيْدِيكُمْ كَأَنَّهَا أَذْنَابُ خَيْلٍ شُمْسٍ اسْكُنُوا فِي الصَّلَاةِ ثُمَّ خَرَجَ عَلَيْنَا فَرَآنَا حِلَقًا فَقَالَ مَا لِي أَرَاكُمْ عِزِينَ ثُمَّ خَرَجَ عَلَيْنَا فَقَالَ أَلَا تَصُفُّونَ كَمَا تَصُفُّ الْمَلَائِكَةُ عِنْدَ رَبِّهَا؟ قَالَ قَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ وَكَيْفَ تَصُفُّ الْمَلَائِكَةُ عِنْدَ رَبِّهَا؟ قَالَ يُتِمُّونَ الصُّفُوفَ الْأُولَى وَيَتَرَاصُّونَ فِي الصَّفِّ
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: The people who lift their eyes towards the sky in Prayer should avoid it or they would lose their eyesight. (Using translation from Muslim 428)
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لَا يَنْتَهِي أَقْوَامٌ يَرْفَعُونَ أَبْصَارَهُمْ إِلَى السَّمَاءِ فِي الصَّلَاةِ أَوْ لَا تَرْجِعُ إِلَيْهِمْ
[Machine] I was with my father or with my son, and he mentioned the Prophet ﷺ and said, "This matter will always be precious and protected. They will be supported against those who oppose them until there are twelve caliphs." Then he spoke a word that people didn't understand, so I asked my father or my son, "What is the word that people didn't understand?" He said, "All of them are from the Quraysh."
كُنْتُ مَعَ أَبِي أَوْ مَعَ ابْنِي قَالَ وَذَكَرَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَقَالَ لَا يَزَالُ هَذَا الْأَمْرُ عَزِيزًا مَنِيعًا يُنْصَرُونَ عَلَى مَنْ نَاوَأَهُمْ عَلَيْهِ إِلَى اثْنَيْ عَشَرَ خَلِيفَةً ثُمَّ تَكَلَّمَ بِكَلِمَةٍ أَصَمَّنِيهَا النَّاسُ فَقُلْتُ لِأَبِي أَوْ لِابْنِي مَا الْكَلِمَةُ الَّتِي أَصَمَّنِيهَا النَّاسُ؟ قَالَ كُلُّهُمْ مِنْ قُرَيْشٍ
[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ or he said, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Indeed, before the Hour there will be liars." My brother, who was closer to him than me, asked, "Did you hear him?" He replied, "So, be cautious of them."
سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ أَوْ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِنَّ بَيْنَ يَدَيِ السَّاعَةِ كَذَّابِينَ قَالَ أَخِي وَكَانَ أَقْرَبَ إِلَيْهِ مِنِّي قَالَ سَمِعْتُهُ؟ قَالَ فَاحْذَرُوهُمْ
"When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed fajr, he would sit in the place where he had prayed until the sun rose." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 1357)
كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا صَلَّى الْغَدَاةَ جَلَسَ فِي مُصَلَّاهُ حَتَّى تَطْلُعَ الشَّمْسُ حَسْنَاءَ
[Machine] "The Prophet ﷺ said, 'Indeed, Allah named the city as Ta'aba.'"
عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ إِنَّ اللهَ سَمَّى الْمَدِينَةَ طَابَةَ
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "It is better for a man to discipline his child than to give charity every day with a half sa'a. Abu Abdur-Rahman said: My father did not narrate from anyone except from Nasihi Abu Abdullah other than this hadith."
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ لَأَنْ يُؤَدِّبَالرَّجُلُ وَلَدَهُ خَيْرٌ لَهُ مِنْ أَنْ يَتَصَدَّقَ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ بِنِصْفِ صَاعٍ قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ مَا حَدَّثَ أَبِي عَنْ نَاصِحٍ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللهِ غَيْرَ هَذَا الْحَدِيثِ
[Machine] About the prayer of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , he said, "Indeed, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to recite Surah Qaf and the Glorious Qur'an in the Fajr prayer and similar to it."
عَنْ صَلَاةِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ كَانَ يَقْرَأُ فِي الْفَجْرِ بِ ق وَالْقُرْآنِ الْمَجِيدِ وَنَحْوِهَا
[Machine] We used to say behind the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , when we greeted him with Salam, "Peace be upon you, peace be upon you." One of us would signal with his hand from his right side and from his left side. The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , said, "What is the matter with those who throw their hands in prayer as if they were the tails of galloping horses? Is it not enough for one of you to place his hand on his thigh, then say the Salam from his right and his left?"
كُنَّا نَقُولُ خَلْفَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا سَلَّمْنَا السَّلَامُ عَلَيْكُمْ السَّلَامُ عَلَيْكُمْ يُشِيرُ أَحَدُنَا بِيَدِهِ عَنْ يَمِينِهِ وَعَنْ شِمَالِهِ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مَا بَالُ الَّذِينَ يَرْمُونَبِأَيْدِيهِمْ فِي الصَّلَاةِ كَأَنَّهَا أَذْنَابُ الْخَيْلِ الشُّمْسِ أَلَا يَكْفِي أَحَدَكُمْ أَنْ يَضَعَ يَدَهُ عَلَى فَخِذِهِ ثُمَّ يُسَلِّمَ عَنْ يَمِينِهِ وَعَنْ شِمَالِهِ
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ used to deliver sermons while standing and sit between the sermons, reciting verses from the Quran. His sermon was concise and his prayer was concise.
أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ كَانَ يَخْطُبُ قَائِمًا وَيَجْلِسُ بَيْنَ الْخُطْبَتَيْنِ وَيَتْلُو آيَاتٍ مِنَ الْقُرْآنِ وَكَانَتْ خُطْبَتُهُ قَصْدًا وَصَلَاتُهُ قَصْدًا
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded us to perform ablution using the meat of camels and not to perform ablution using the meat of sheep. He also instructed us to pray in the places where the sheep gather and not to pray in the places where the camels gather. Abdullah narrated to us and said, "I heard Hajjaj ibn al-Sha'ir asking my father, 'Which one do you prefer, Umar the critic or Al-Mu'ayyati?' He replied, 'Umar the critic was careful to always speak the truth.'"
أَمَرَنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَنْ نَتَوَضَّأَ مِنْ لُحُومِ الْإِبِلِ وَأَنْ لَا نَتَوَضَّأَ مِنْ لُحُومِ الْغَنَمِ وَأَنْ نُصَلِّيَ فِي مَبَاءَةِ الْغَنَمِ وَلَا نُصَلِّيَ فِي أَعْطَانِ الْإِبِلِ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ حَجَّاجَ بْنَ الشَّاعِرِ يَسْأَلُ أَبِي فَقَالَ أَيُّمَا أَحَبُّ إِلَيْكَ عَمْرٌو النَّاقِدُ أَوِ الْمُعَيْطِيُّ؟ فَقَالَ كَانَ عُمَرٌو النَّاقِدُ يَتَحَرَّى الصِّدْقَ
[Machine] I entered upon the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in his house and I saw him reclining on a cushion.
دَخَلْتُ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فِي بَيْتِهِ فَرَأَيْتُهُ مُتَّكِئًا عَلَى وِسَادَةٍ
[Machine] "Indeed, the Prophet ﷺ was brought a horse when he departed from the funeral of Abu Duhdah. He mounted the horse while we were walking around him."
أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ أُتِيَ بِفَرَسٍ حِينَ انْصَرَفَ مِنْ جَنَازَةِ أَبِي الدَّحْدَاحِ فَرَكِبَ وَنَحْنُ حَوْلَهُ نَمْشِي
"A man killed himself, so the Prophet did not perform Salat over him." (Using translation from Tirmidhī 1068)
أَنَّ رَجُلًا قَتَلَ نَفْسَهُ فَلَمْ يُصَلِّ عَلَيْهِ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ
[Machine] I saw it like the egg of a dove, and its color is the color of its body.
رَأَيْتُهَا مِثْلَ بَيْضَةِ الْحَمَامَةِ وَلَوْنُهَا لَوْنُ جَسَدِهِ
[Machine] Maaz ibn Malik came to the Prophet ﷺ and confessed to him about committing adultery. The Prophet turned his face away from him. Maaz came to us and confessed multiple times. The Prophet ordered for him to be stoned to death, and he was stoned. Then he was brought to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and informed about it. He stood up, praised Allah (the Most High), and glorified Him. He said, "What is wrong with some people that whenever we go to fight in the way of Allah, one of them leaves his wife behind, like the male goat leaves its female goat? One of them gives his wife the male goat's penis. If Allah enables me to have power over them, I will surely make them like a stool."
جَاءَ مَاعِزُ بْنُ مَالِكٍ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَاعْتَرَفَ عِنْدَهُ بِالزِّنَى قَالَ فَحَوَّلَ وَجْهَهُ قَالَ فَجَاءَنَا فَاعْتَرَفَ مِرَارًا فَأَمَرَ بِرَجْمِهِ فَرُجِمَ ثُمَّ أُتِيَ فَأُخْبِرَ فَقَامَ فَحَمِدَ اللهَ تَعَالَى وَأَثْنَى عَلَيْهِ قَالَ مَا بَالُ رِجَالٍ كُلَّمَا نَفَرْنَا فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ تَخَلَّفَ أَحَدُهُمْ عِنْدَهُنَّ لَهُ نَبِيبٌ كَنَبِيبِ التَّيْسِ يَمْنَحُ إِحْدَاهُنَّ الْكُثْبَةَ لَئِنْ أَمْكَنَنِي اللهُ مِنْهُمْ لَأَجْعَلَنَّهُمْ نَكَالًا
[Machine] "The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , or a man said: 'O Messenger of Allah, can I perform ablution with the meat of the sheep?' The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , said: 'If you wish, mention the hadith.'"
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ أَوْ رَجُلٌ قَالَيَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَتَوَضَّأُ مِنْ لُحُومِ الْغَنَمِ؟ قَالَ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِنْ شِئْتَ فَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ
Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "I have been sent and the Hour (is at hand) as these two (fingers). (Using translation from Bukhārī 6504)
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ بُعِثْتُ أَنَا وَالسَّاعَةُ كَهَاتَيْنِ
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to recite in the noon and afternoon prayer: "By the Heaven and the Morning Star" (Surah 86) and "By the Heaven , holding mansions of the stars" (Surah 85) and similar surahs of equal length. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 805)
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ كَانَ يَقْرَأُ فِي الظُّهْرِ وَالْعَصْرِ وَالسَّمَاءِ ذَاتِ الْبُرُوجِ وَالسَّمَاءِ وَالطَّارِقِ وَشَبَهَهَا
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was brought a short, disheveled man with muscles, wearing a waist wrap, who had committed adultery twice. He ordered for him to be stoned. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whenever we send a group of soldiers in the cause of Allah, one of them lags behind with a shepherd's crook, giving it to one of them as a reward for bravery. Verily, Allah will not enable me to overtake any one of them except that I will make him an example (of punishment) or I will punish him."
أُتِيَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ بِرَجُلٍ قَصِيرٍ أَشْعَثَ ذِي عَضَلَاتٍ عَلَيْهِ إِزَارٌ وَقَدْ زَنَى فَرَدَّهُ مَرَّتَيْنِ قَالَ ثُمَّ أَمَرَ بِهِ فَرُجِمَ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ كُلَّمَا نَفَرْنَا غَازِينَ فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ تَخَلَّفَ أَحَدُهُمْ لَهُ نَبِيبٌ كَنَبِيبِ التَّيْسِ يَمْنَحُ إِحْدَاهُنَّ الْكُثْبَةَ إِنَّ اللهَ لَا يُمَكِّنُنِي مِنْ أَحَدٍ مِنْهُمْ إِلَّا جَعَلْتُهُ نَكَالًا أَوْ نَكَّلْتُهُ
[Machine] I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ being brought a goat from the offspring of Malik. He mentioned its quality except that he said, "One of them lags behind, grazing far from the others, like the nipple of a she-goat." So I narrated it to Al-Hakam, and he was amazed and asked me about Al-Kuthbah. I asked Simak about Al-Kuthbah, and he said, "It is little milk."
رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ أُتِيَ بِمَاعِزِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ فَذَكَرَ مَعْنَاهُ إِلَّا أَنَّهُ قَالَ تَخَلَّفَ أَحَدُهُمْ يُنِبِّ كَنَبِيبِ التَّيْسِ قَالَ فَحَدَّثْتُهُ الْحَكَمَ فَأَعْجَبَهُ وَقَالَ لِي مَا الْكُثْبَةُ فَسَأَلْتُ سِمَاكًا عَنِ الْكُثْبَةِ فَقَالَ اللَّبَنُ الْقَلِيلُ
This religion will continue to exist, and a group of people from the Muslims will continue to fight for its protection until the Hour is established. (Using translation from Muslim 1922)
عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّهُ قَالَ لَنْ يَبْرَحَ هَذَا الدِّينُ قَائِمًا يُقَاتِلُ عَلَيْهِ عِصَابَةٌ مِنَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ حَتَّى تَقُومَ السَّاعَةُ
I said to Simak: What does this dali-ul-fam mean? And he said: This means broad face. I said: What does this ashkal mean? He said: Long in the slit of the eye. I said: What is this manhus-ul-aqibain? He said: It implies little flesh at the heels. (Using translation from Muslim 2339)
كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ ضَلِيعَ الْفَمِ أَشْكَلَ الْعَيْنِ مَنْهُوسَ الْعَقِبَيْنِ قُلْتُ لِسِمَاكٍ مَا ضَلِيعُ الْفَمِ؟ قَالَ عَظِيمُ الْفَمِ قُلْتُ مَا أَشْكَلُ الْعَيْنِ؟ قَالَ طَوِيلُ شُفْرِ الْعَيْنِ قُلْتُ مَا مَنْهُوسُ الْعَقِبِ؟ قَالَ قَلِيلُ لَحْمِ الْعَقِبِ
[Machine] I heard Prophet Muhammad ﷺ saying, "You shall open the treasures of the White Palace." Shu'ba or the one in the White Palace said, "A group of Muslims will do so."
سَمِعْتُ نَبِيَّ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ لَتَفْتَحَنَّ كُنُوزَ كِسْرَى الْأَبْيَضَ قَالَ شُعْبَةُ أَوْ قَالَ الَّذِي فِي الْأَبْيَضِ عِصَابَةٌ مِنَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ
[Machine] There were no gray hairs on the head of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ except for some strands at the sides of his head, which he used to anoint and cover.
مَا كَانَ فِي رَأْسِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ مِنَ الشَّيْبِ إِلَّا شَعَرَاتٌ فِي مَفْرِقِ رَأْسِهِ كَانَ إِذَا ادَّهَنَ غَطَّاهُنَّ
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to recite 'Qaf' during the Fajr prayer. And his prayer used to be lightened after it.
كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَقْرَأُ فِي الصُّبْحِ بِ ق وَكَانَ صَلَاتُهُ بَعْدُ تَخْفِيفًا
[Machine] That the Prophet ﷺ used to eat from the food that was presented to him and would send the leftover to Abu Ayyub due to its blessings. Abu Ayyub would place his fingers where he could see the traces of the Prophet's fingers. One day, the Prophet ﷺ was brought a bowl that had the smell of garlic in it, but he did not taste it and sent it to Abu Ayyub. Abu Ayyub looked at it but did not find any trace of the Prophet's fingers in it, so he did not taste it either. He went to the Prophet and asked: "O Messenger of Allah, I did not find any trace of your fingers in it?" The Prophet ﷺ replied: "I found the smell of garlic in it." Abu Ayyub asked: "Do you send me something that you do not eat?" The Prophet ﷺ said: "Indeed, the angels come to me."
أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ كَانَ إِذَا أُتِيَ بِطَعَامٍ أَكَلَمِنْهُ وَبَعَثَ بِفَضْلِهِ إِلَى أَبِي أَيُّوبَ فَكَانَ أَبُو أَيُّوبَ يَضَعُ أَصَابِعَهُ حَيْثُ يَرَى أَثَرَ أَصَابِعِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَأُتِيَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ بِقَصْعَةٍ فَوَجَدَ فيها رِيحَ ثُومٍ فَلَمْ يَذُقْهَا وَبَعَثَ بِهَا إِلَى أَبِي أَيُّوبَ فَنَظَرَ فَلَمْ يَرَ فِيهَا أَثَرَ أَصَابِعِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَلَمْ يَذُقْهَا فَأَتَاهُ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ لَمْ أَرَ فِيهَا أَثَرَ أَصَابِعِكَ؟ قَالَ إِنِّي وَجَدْتُ مِنْهَا رِيحَ ثُومٍ قَالَ فَتَبْعَثُ إِلَيَّ بِمَا لَا تَأْكُلُ؟ قَالَ إِنِّي يَأْتِينِي الْمَلَكُ
[Machine] "The Prophet ﷺ stayed at Abu Ayyub's house and mentioned this hadith of the garlic. I said to him, 'Yes, Shu'bah narrated it from Samaak ibn Harb, from Jabir ibn Samurah, that the Prophet ﷺ stayed at Abu Ayyub's house.' Then he remained silent."
أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ نَزَلَ عَلَى أَبِي أَيُّوبَ فَذَكَرَ هَذَا حَدِيثَ الثُّومِ قَالَ قُلْتُ لَهُ نَعَمْ شُعْبَةُ عَنْ سِمَاكِ بْنِ حَرْبٍ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ نَزَلَ عَلَى أَبِي أَيُّوبَ فَسَكَتَ
[Machine] He said, "I heard Jabir ibn Samurah, and it was said to him, 'Was there any gray hair on the head of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ?' He said, 'There was no gray hair on his head or in his beard, except for a few strands on the parting of his head, when he would apply oil to them and the oil made them visible.'"
قَالَسَمِعْتُ جَابِرَ بْنَ سَمُرَةَ وَقِيلَ لَهُ أَكَانَ فِي رَأْسِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ شَيْبٌ؟ قَالَ لَمْ يَكُنْ فِي رَأْسِهِ وَلَا فِي لِحْيَتِهِ إِلَّا شَعَرَاتٌ فِي مَفْرِقِ رَأْسِهِ إِذَا دَهَنَهُنَّ وَارَاهُنَّ الدُّهْنُ
A man alighted at Harrah with his wife and children. A man said (to him): My she-camel has strayed; if you find it, detain it. He found it, but did not find its owner, and it fell ill. His wife said: Slaughter it. But he refused and it died. She said: Skin it so that we may dry its fat and flesh and then eat them. He said: Let me ask the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. So he came to him (the Prophet) and asked him. He said: Have you sufficient for your needs? He replied: No. He then said: Then eat it. Then its owner came and he told him the story. He said: Why did you not slaughter it? He replied: I was ashamed (or afraid) of you. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 3816)
أَنَّ رَجُلًا كَانَ بِالْحَرَّةِ مَعَهُ أَهْلُهُ وَوَلَدُهُ فَقَالَ لَهُ رَجُلٌ إِنِّي أَضْلَلْتُ نَاقَةً لِي فَإِنْ وَجَدْتَهَا فَأَمْسِكْهَا فَوَجَدَهَا فَمَرِضَتْ فَقَالَتْ لَهُ امْرَأَتُهُ انْحَرْهَا فَأَبَى فَنَفَقَتْ فَقَالَتْ لَهُ امْرَأَتُهُ قَدِّدْهَا حَتَّى نَأْكُلَ مِنْ لَحْمِهَا وَشَحْمِهَا قَالَ حَتَّى أَسْتَأْمِرَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَأَتَاهُ فَأَخْبَرَهُ فَقَالَ لَهُ هَلْ لَكَ غِنًى يُغْنِيكَ؟ قَالَ لَا قَالَ فَكُلُوهَا قَالَ فَجَاءَ صَاحِبُهَا بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ فَقَالَ أَلَا كُنْتَ نَحَرْتَهَا؟ قَالَ اسْتَحْيَيْتُ مِنْكَ
the Prophet ﷺ stoned a Jewish man and a Jewish woman. (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 2557)
أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ رَجَمَ يَهُودِيًّا وَيَهُودِيَّةً
[Machine] "He (Jabir ibn Samurah) heard that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to perform prayers similar to your prayers which you offer today. However, he used to shorten them. His prayers were lighter than your prayers, and he used to recite Al-Waqi'ah and similar Surahs during the Fajr prayer."
أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ جَابِرَ بْنَ سَمُرَةَ يَقُولُ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يُصَلِّي الصَّلَوَاتِ كَنَحْوٍ مِنْ صَلَاتِكُمُ الَّتِي تُصَلُّونَ الْيَوْمَ وَلَكِنَّهُ كَانَ يُخَفِّفُ كَانَتْ صَلَاتُهُ أَخَفَّ مِنْ صَلَاتِكُمْ وَكَانَ يَقْرَأُ فِي الْفَجْرِ الْوَاقِعَةَ وَنَحْوَهَا مِنَ السُّوَرِ
[Machine] The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said, "A group from the Muslims will open treasures similar to those of Kisra." Abu Nuaym said, "The one in al-Abwab narrated to me that Jaabir said, 'I was among them and I gained one thousand dirhams.'"
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لَيَفْتَحَنَّ رَهْطٌ مِنَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ كُنُوزَ كِسْرَى الَّتِي قَالَ أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ الَّذِي بِالْأَبْيَضِ قَالَ جَابِرٌ فَكُنْتُ فِيهِمْ فَأَصَابَنِي أَلْفُ دِرْهَمٍ
The Mu'adh-dhin of Messenger of Allah would wait and he would not call the Iqamah until he saw the Messenger of Allah had come out, he would call the Iqamah when he saw him." (Using translation from Tirmidhī 202)
أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ جَابِرَ بْنَ سَمُرَةَ يَقُولُ كَانَ مُؤَذِّنُ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ يُؤَذِّنُ ثُمَّ يُمْهِلُ حَتَّى إِذَا رَأَى نَبِيَّ اللهِ ﷺ قَدْ خَرَجَ أَقَامَ الصَّلَاةَ حِينَ يَرَاهُ
His face was as (bright) as the sword. Thereupon he (Jabir) said: No, it was round and like the sun and the moon. And I saw the seal near his shoulder of the size of a pigeon's egg and its color was the same as that of his body. (Using translation from Muslim 2344b)
عَنْ سِمَاكٍأَنَّهُ سَمِعَ جَابِرَ بْنَ سَمُرَةَ يَقُولُ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ قَدْ شَمِطَ مُقَدَّمُ رَأْسِهِ وَلِحْيَتِهِ فَإِذَا ادَّهَنَ وَمَشَطَ لَمْ يَتَبَيَّنْ وَإِذَا شَعِثَ رَأْسُهُ تَبَيَّنَ وَكَانَ كَثِيرَ الشَّعْرِ وَاللِّحْيَةِ فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ وَجْهُهُ مِثْلُ السَّيْفِ؟ قَالَ لَا بَلْ كَانَ مِثْلَ الشَّمْسِ وَالْقَمَرِ مُسْتَدِيرًا قَالَ وَرَأَيْتُ خَاتَمَهُ عِنْدَ كَتِفِهِ مِثْلَ بَيْضَةِ الْحَمَامَةِ يُشْبِهُ جَسَدَهُ
[Machine] The meaning of the passage is: "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ had a whip, so he mentioned its significance."
كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ قَدْ شَمِطَ فَذَكَرَ مَعْنَاهُ
[Machine] He heard Jabir ibn Samurah say, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ led us in the Fajr prayer, and he would lower his hand to the ground. Khalaf would lower his hand in the prayer, in front of him. When the people asked him about it after he finished, he said, 'Indeed, it was Shaytan who would throw sparks of fire on me to distract me from my prayer. So I took hold of him, and if I had taken him any longer, he would not have escaped from me until he was tied to one of the pillars of the mosque, and the children of the people of Madinah would look at him."
أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ جَابِرَ بْنَ سَمُرَةَ يَقُولُ صَلَّى بِنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ صَلَاةَ الْفَجْرِ فَجَعَلَ يَهْوِي بِيَدِهِ قَالَ خَلَفٌ يَهْوِي فِي الصَّلَاةِ قُدَّامَهُ فَسَأَلَهُ الْقَوْمُ حِينَ انْصَرَفَ فَقَالَ إِنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ هُوَ كَانَ يُلْقِي عَلَيَّ شَرَرَ النَّارِ لِيَفْتِنَنِي عَنْ صَلَاتِي فَتَنَاوَلْتُهُ فَلَوْ أَخَذْتُهُ مَا انْفَلَتَ مِنِّي حَتَّى يُنَاطَ إِلَى سَارِيَةٍ مِنْ سَوَارِي الْمَسْجِدِ يَنْظُرُ إِلَيْهِ وِلْدَانُ أَهْلِ الْمَدِينَةِ

كَانَ مُؤَذِّنُ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ يُؤَذِّنُ ثُمَّ يُمْهِلُ وَلَا يُقِيمُ حَتَّى إِذَا رَأَى رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَدْ خَرَجَ أَقَامَ الصَّلَاةَ حِينَ يَرَاهُ
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to pray in a similar way to your prayers, and he would delay the 'Isha prayer after your prayer for a while, and he would shorten the prayer.
كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يُصَلِّي الصَّلَوَاتِ نَحْوًا مِنْ صَلَاتِكُمْ وَكَانَ يُؤَخِّرُ الْعَتَمَةَ بَعْدَ صَلَاتِكُمْ شَيْئًا وَكَانَ يُخَفِّفُ الصَّلَاةَ
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to recite in the Fajr prayer from Surah Qaf (chapter 50) to the end of the Glorious Quran. His prayer after this was moderate. And when the Prophet ﷺ would complete the Fajr prayer, he would sit in his place of prayer until the sun would rise.
كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَقْرَأُ فِي صَلَاةِ الْفَجْرِ بِ ق وَالْقُرْآنِ الْمَجِيدِ وَكَانَتْ صَلَاتُهُ بَعْدُ تَخْفِيفًا وَكَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا صَلَّى الْفَجْرَ قَعَدَ فِي مُصَلَّاهُ حَتَّى تَطْلُعَ الشَّمْسُ
"The two shins of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ were thin, and he would not laugh except as a smile, and whenever I looked at him I would say: "He put kohl on his eyes,' but he ﷺ did not use kohl." (Using translation from Tirmidhī 3645)
كَانَ فِي سَاقَيْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ حُمُوشَةٌ وَكَانَ لَا يَضْحَكُ إِلَّا تَبَسُّمًا وَكَانَ إِذَا نَظَرْتُ إِلَيْهِ قُلْتُ أَكْحَلُ وَلَيْسَ بِأَكْحَلَ
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Indeed, in Mecca, there was a rock that used to greet me during the nights I was sent. I used to recognize it when I passed by it."
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِنَّ بِمَكَّةَ لَحَجَرًا كَانَ يُسَلِّمُ عَلَيَّ لَيَالِيَ بُعِثْتُ إِنِّي لَأَعْرِفُهُ إِذَا مَرَرْتُبِهِ
[Machine] I heard Jabir ibn Samurah saying that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ led us in the dawn prayer, then he started coughing in front of him. When he finished, we asked him about it and he said, "That was Satan. He threw sparks of fire on my feet to distract me from prayer." He said, "I scolded him, and if I had taken him, I would have tied him to one of the pillars of the mosque until the children of Medina circled around him."
سَمِعْتُ جَابِرَ بْنَ سَمُرَةَ يَقُولُ صَلَّى بِنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ صَلَاةَ الصُّبْحِ فَجَعَلَ يَنْتَهِرُ شَيْئًا قُدَّامَهُ فَلَمَّا انْصَرَفَ سَأَلْنَاهُ فَقَالَ ذَاكَ الشَّيْطَانُ أَلْقَى عَلَى قَدَمَيَّ شَرَرًا مِنْ نَارٍ لِيَفْتِنَنِي عَنِ الصَّلَاةِ قَالَ وَقَدِ انْتَهَرْتُهُ وَلَوْ أَخَذْتُهُ لَنِيطَ إِلَى سَارِيَةٍ مِنْ سَوَارِي الْمَسْجِدِ حَتَّى يُطِيفَ بِهِ وِلْدَانُ أَهْلِ الْمَدِينَةِ
Bilal would call the Adhan, then he used come to wait. When he would see that the prophet ﷺ had come out (of his house), he would pronounce the iqama. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 537)
كَانَ مُؤَذِّنُ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ يُؤَذِّنُ ثُمَّ لَا يُقِيمُ يُمْهِلُ حَتَّى إِذَا رَأَى النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَدْ خَرَجَ أَقَامَ الصَّلَاةَ
Jabir b Samura reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded us to observe fast on the day of Ashura and exhorted us to do it and was particular about it But when (fasting) in Ramadan was made obligatory, he hence. forth neither commanded us nor forbade us, nor was he so particular about it. كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَأْمُرُ بِصِيَامِ عَاشُورَاءَ وَيَحُثُّنَا عَلَيْهِ وَيَتَعَاهَدُنَا عِنْدَهُ فَلَمَّا فُرِضَ رَمَضَانُ لَمْ يَأْمُرْنَا بِهِ وَلَمْ يَنْهَنَا عَنْهُ وَلَمْ يَتَعَاهَدْنَا عِنْدَهُ
"The Messenger of Allah commanded us to perform ablution after eating camel meat but not to perform ablution after eating the mutton." (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 495)
أَمَرَنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَنْ نَتَوَضَّأَ مِنْ لُحُومِ الْإِبِلِ وَلَا نَتَوَضَّأَ مِنْ لُحُومِ الْغَنَمِ وَأَنْ نُصَلِّيَ فِي دِمَنِ الْغَنَمِ وَلَا نُصَلِّيَ فِي عَطَنِ الْإِبِلِ
[Machine] We used to sit with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and they would chat about poetry and discuss things from the pre-Islamic era. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ would remain silent, perhaps smiling or saying, "We used to chat about poetry and recall things from the pre-Islamic era," and he would perhaps smile ﷺ .
كُنَّا نَجْلِسُ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَكَانُوا يَتَنَاشَدُونَ الْأَشْعَارَ وَيَتَذَاكَرُونَ أَشْيَاءَ مِنْ أَمْرِ الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ وَرَسُولُاللهِ ﷺ سَاكِتٌ فَرُبَّمَا تَبَسَّمَ أَوْ قَالَ كُنَّا نَتَنَاشَدُ الْأَشْعَارَ وَنَذْكُرُ أَشْيَاءَ مِنْ أَمْرِ الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ فَرُبَّمَا تَبَسَّمَ ﷺ
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "This matter will continue to be upheld and fought for by the Muslims until the Hour is established." Abu Abdul Rahman said, "This is Abu Ahmad Al-Zubairi, he is not from the descendants of Zubair ibn Al-Awwam, rather his grandfather's name was Zubair."
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لَا يَزَالُ هَذَا الْأَمْرُ قَائِمًا يُقَاتِلُ عَلَيْهِ الْمُسْلِمُونَ حَتَّى تَقُومَ السَّاعَةُ قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ هَذَا أَبُو أَحْمَدَ الزُّبَيْرِيُّ لَيْسَ مِنْ وَلَدِ الزُّبَيْرِ بْنِ الْعَوَّامِ إِنَّمَا كَانَ اسْمُ جَدِّهِ الزُّبَيْرَ
"When Kisra is ruined, there will be no Kisra after him, and when Caesar is ruined, there will be no Caesar after him. By the One in Whose Hand is my soul! You shall spend their treasures in Allah's cause." (Using translation from Tirmidhī 2216)
سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ إِذَا ذَهَبَ قَيْصَرُ فَلَا قَيْصَرَ بَعْدَهُ وَإِذَا ذَهَبَ كِسْرَى فَلَا كِسْرَى بَعْدَهُ وَالَّذِي نَفْسُ مُحَمَّدٍ بِيَدِهِ لَتُنْفَقَنَّ كُنُوزُهُمَا فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ
