I read out (this tradition) to Sa'id b. Ya'qub al-Taliqini, and I said to him: Ibn al-Mubarak transmitted (this tradition) to you from Sa'id Abi Shuja' who said: 'Uthman b. Sahl b. Rafi' b. Khadij narrated it to me saying: I was an orphan being nourished under the guardianship of Rafi' b. Khadij and I performed Hajj with him. My brother 'Imran b. Sahl then came to me and said: We rented out land to so-and-so for two hundred dirhams. He said: Leave it, for the Prophet ﷺ forbade renting land.  

أبو داود:٣٤٠١ – قَالَ أَبُو دَاوُدَ قَرَأْتُ عَلَى سَعِيدِ بْنِ يَعْقُوبَ الطَّالْقَانِيِّ قُلْتُ لَهُ حَدَّثَكُمُ ابْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ عَنْ سَعِيدٍ أَبِي شُجَاعٍ حَدَّثَنِي عُثْمَانُ بْنُ سَهْلِ بْنِ رَافِعِ بْنِ خَدِيجٍ قَالَ إِنِّي لَيَتِيمٌ فِي حِجْرِ رَافِعِ بْنِ خَدِيجٍ وَحَجَجْتُ مَعَهُ فَجَاءَهُ أَخِي عِمْرَانُ بْنُ سَهْلٍ فَقَالَ أَكْرَيْنَا أَرْضَنَا فُلاَنَةَ بِمِائَتَىْ دِرْهَمٍ فَقَالَ

دَعْهُ فَإِنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ نَهَى عَنْ كِرَاءِ الأَرْضِ

Muawiya offered one rakʿa witr prayer after the ʿIsha prayer, and at that time a freed slave of Ibn ʿAbbas was present. He (i.e. the slave) went to Ibn ʿAbbas (and told him that Muawiya offered one rakʿa witr prayer). Ibn ʿAbbas said, "Leave him, for he was in the company of Messenger of Allah ﷺ."  

البخاري:٣٧٦٤ – حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ بِشْرٍ حَدَّثَنَا الْمُعَافَى عَنْ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ الأَسْوَدِ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي مُلَيْكَةَ قَالَ أَوْتَرَ مُعَاوِيَةُ بَعْدَ الْعِشَاءِ بِرَكْعَةٍ وَعِنْدَهُ مَوْلًى لاِبْنِ عَبَّاسٍ فَأَتَى ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ فَقَالَ

دَعْهُ فَإِنَّهُ صَحِبَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ prohibited ploughing the land.

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ «نَهَى عَنْ كَرْيِ الْأَرْضِ»

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ «نَهَى عَنْ كَرْيِ الْأَرْضِ»  

tabarani:4358 – Muḥammad b. ʿAmr b. Khālid al-Ḥarrānī from my father > ʿUbaydullāh b. ʿUmar > ʿAbd al-Karīm > Mujāhid > Ibn Rāfiʿ b. Khadīj from his father

He then went to him along with me. He (Rafi) narrated from some of his uncles in which it was mentioned that Allah's Apostle ﷺ forbade the renting of land. Ibn 'Umar (Allah be pleased with them) then abandoned this practice of renting. (Using translation from Muslim 1547h)
