The Prophet ﷺ said: If they (the people) drink wine, flog them, again if they drink it, flog them. Again if they drink it, kill them.

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِذَا شَرِبُوا الْخَمْرَ فَاجْلِدُوهُمْ ثُمَّ إِنْ شَرِبُوا فَاجْلِدُوهُمْ ثُمَّ إِنْ شَرِبُوا فَاجْلِدُوهُمْ ثُمَّ إِنْ شَرِبُوا فَاقْتُلُوهُمْ

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "If he becomes intoxicated, flog him; then if he becomes intoxicated, flog him; then if he becomes intoxicated, flog him; then if he returns a fourth time, kill him."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ: «إِذَا سَكِرَ فَاجْلِدُوهُ، ثُمَّ إِنْ سَكِرَ فَاجْلِدُوهُ، ثُمَّ إِنْ سَكِرَ فَاجْلِدُوهُ، فَإِنْ عَادَ الرَّابِعَةَ فَاقْتُلُوهُ».

"The Messenger of Allah [SAW] said: 'Whoever drinks Khamr, whip him; then if he drinks (again), whip him; then if he drinks (again), whip him; then if he drinks (again), kill him.'"

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ مَنْ شَرِبَ الْخَمْرَ فَاجْلِدُوهُ ثُمَّ إِنْ شَرِبَ فَاجْلِدُوهُ ثُمَّ إِنْ شَرِبَ فَاجْلِدُوهُ ثُمَّ إِنْ شَرِبَ فَاقْتُلُوهُ

The Messenger of Allah [SAW] said: "If he becomes drunk, whip him; then if he becomes drunk, whip him; then if he becomes drunk, whip him." Then he said concerning the fourth time, "Strike his neck (i.e., kill him)."

عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ إِذَا سَكِرَ فَاجْلِدُوهُ ثُمَّ إِنْ سَكِرَ فَاجْلِدُوهُ ثُمَّ إِنْ سَكِرَ فَاجْلِدُوهُ ثُمَّ قَالَ فِي الرَّابِعَةِ فَاضْرِبُوا عُنُقَهُ

“If he gets drunk, then whip him. If he does it again, then whip him. If he does it again, then whip him.' And he said concerning the fourth time: 'If he does it again, then strike his neck (i.e., execute him).' ”

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِذَا سَكِرَ فَاجْلِدُوهُ فَإِنْ عَادَ فَاجْلِدُوهُ فَإِنْ عَادَ فَاجْلِدُوهُ ثُمَّ قَالَ فِي الرَّابِعَةِ فَإِنْ عَادَ فَاضْرِبُوا عُنُقَهُ

“If they drink (again), then whip them. If they drink (again), then whip them. If they drink (again), then whip them. If they drink (again), then kill them.”

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ إِذَا شَرِبُوا الْخَمْرَ فَاجْلِدُوهُمْ ثُمَّ إِذَا شَرِبُوا فَاجْلِدُوهُمْ ثُمَّ إِذَا شَرِبُوا فَاجْلِدُوهُمْ ثُمَّ إِذَا شَرِبُوا فَاقْتُلُوهُمْ

[AI] "Regarding the Prophet ﷺ who said, 'Whoever drinks alcohol, flog him. If he drinks it again, flog him. If he drinks it again, flog him.' When asked about the fifth or fourth time, he said, 'Kill him.'"

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّهُ قَالَ مَنْ شَرِبَ الْخَمْرَ فَاجْلِدُوهُ فَإِنْ شَرِبَهَا فَاجْلِدُوهُ فَإِنْ شَرِبَهَا فَاجْلِدُوهُ فَقَالَ فِيالْخَامِسَةِ أَوِ الرَّابِعَةِ فَاقْتُلُوهُ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever drinks alcohol, flog him. If he repeats it again, flog him. If he repeats it again, flog him. If he repeats it again, kill him." Waki' said in his narration, "Abdullah said, 'Bring me a man who has consumed alcohol four times, and it is permissible for me to kill him.'"

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مَنْ شَرِبَ الْخَمْرَ فَاجْلِدُوهُ فَإِنْ عَادَ فَاجْلِدُوهُ فَإِنْ عَادَ فَاجْلِدُوهُ فَإِنْ عَادَ فَاقْتُلُوهُ قَالَ وَكِيعٌ فِي حَدِيثِهِ قَالَ عَبْدُ اللهِ ائْتُونِي بِرَجُلٍ قَدْ شَرِبَ الْخَمْرَ فِي الرَّابِعَةِ فَلَكُمْ عَلَيَّ أَنْ أَقْتُلَهُ

[AI] "Indeed, the Prophet (PBUH) said: Whoever drinks wine, then flog him; and whoever drinks a second time, then flog him; and if he drinks a third time, then flog him; and if he drinks a fourth time, then kill him."

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ مَنْ شَرِبَ الْخَمْرَ فَاجْلِدُوهُ وَمَنْ شَرِبَ الثَّانِيَةَ فَاجْلِدُوهُ ثُمَّ إِنْ شَرِبَ الثَّالِثَةَفَاجْلِدُوهُ ثُمَّ إِنْ شَرِبَ الرَّابِعَةَ فَاقْتُلُوهُ

[AI] The Prophet ﷺ said, "Whoever drinks alcohol, then flog him. And if he drinks it again, then flog him. And if he drinks it again, then flog him. And if he drinks it for the fourth time, then kill him."

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ مَنْ شَرِبَ الْخَمْرَ فَاجْلِدُوهُ ثُمَّ إِذَا شَرِبَ فَاجْلِدُوهُ ثُمَّ إِذَا شَرِبَ فَاجْلِدُوهُ ثُمَّ إِذَا شَرِبَ فِي الرَّابِعَةِ فَاقْتُلُوهُ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "If someone becomes intoxicated, flog him. If he becomes intoxicated a second time, flog him. If he does it a third time, then strike his neck." Al-Zuhri narrated that a man who was intoxicated for the third time was brought to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , and he let him go.

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِنْ سَكِرَ فَاجْلِدُوهُ ثُمَّ إِنْ سَكِرَ فَاجْلِدُوهُ فَإِنْ عَادَ فِي الرَّابِعَةِ فَاضْرِبُوا عُنُقَهُ قَالَ الزُّهْرِيُّ فَأُتِيَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ بِرَجُلٍ سَكْرَانَ فِي الرَّابِعَةِ فَخَلَّى سَبِيلَهُ

The Messenger of Allah [SAW] said: "If he becomes drunk, whip him; then if he becomes drunk, whip him; then if he becomes drunk, whip him." Then he said concerning the fourth time, "Strike his neck (i.e., kill him)." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 5662)

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا سَكِرَ فَاجْلِدُوهُ ثُمَّ إِنْ سَكِرَ فَاجْلِدُوهُ ثُمَّ إِنْ سَكِرَ فَاجْلِدُوهُ ثُمَّ إِنْ عَادَ الرَّابِعَةَ فَاضْرِبُوا عُنُقَهُ

[AI] The Prophet ﷺ said, "If someone drinks alcohol, flog him. If he repeats, flog him again. On the fourth time, kill him."

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ إِذَا شَرِبَ الْخَمْرَ فَاجْلِدُوهُ فَإِنْ عَادَ فَاجْلِدُوهُ فَقَالَ فِي الرَّابِعَةِ فَاقْتُلُوهُ

[AI] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "Whoever drinks alcohol, then flog him; if he repeats it, then flog him; if he repeats it again, then flog him; if he repeats it for the fourth time, then kill him."

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ مَنْ شَرِبَ الْخَمْرَ فَاجْلِدُوهُ فَإِنْ عَادَ فَاجْلِدُوهُ فَإِنْ عَادَ فَاجْلِدُوهُ فَإِنْ عَادَ الرَّابِعَةَ فَاقْتُلُوهُ

The Prophet ﷺ said: If they (the people) drink wine, flog them, again if they drink it, flog them. Again if they drink it, kill them. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 4482)

[AI] The Prophet ﷺ said regarding the drinker of wine, "If he drinks wine, then flog him. If he drinks again, flog him. If he drinks a third time, flog him. And if he drinks a fourth time, strike his neck."

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ فِي شَارِبِ الْخَمْرِ إِذَا شَرِبَ الْخَمْرَ فَاجْلِدُوهُ ثُمَّ إِذَا شَرِبَ فَاجْلِدُوهُ ثُمَّ إِذَا شَرِبَ الثَّالِثَةَ فَاجْلِدُوهُ ثُمَّ إِذَا شَرِبَ الرَّابِعَةَ فَاضْرِبُوا عُنُقَهُ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , said: "Whoever drinks alcohol, then flog him. If he repeats it, then flog him. If he repeats it again, then flog him. If he repeats it once more, then kill him."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مَنْ شَرِبَ الْخَمْرَ فَاضْرِبُوهُ فَإِنْ عَادَ فَاضْرِبُوهُ فَإِنْ عَادَ فَاضْرِبُوهُ فَإِنْ عَادَ فَاقْتُلُوهُ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "If someone drinks alcohol, flog him. If he repeats, flog him. If he repeats again, flog him. If he repeats once more, kill him."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا شَرِبَ الْخَمْرَ فَاجْلِدُوهُ فَإِنْ عَادَ فَاجْلِدُوهُ فَإِنْ عَادَ فَاجْلِدُوهُ فَإِنْ عَادَ فَاقْتُلُوهُ

[AI] "Narrated by Shurahbil bin Aws, who was one of the companions of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ , that he said: The Prophet ﷺ said, 'Whoever drinks alcohol, then flog him; if he repeats the offense, then flog him; if he repeats the offense again, then flog him; if he repeats the offense yet again, then kill him.'

عَنْ شُرَحْبِيلَ بْنِ أَوْسٍ وَكَانَ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّهُ قَالَ قَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ مَنْ شَرِبَ الْخَمْرَ فَاجْلِدُوهُ فَإِنْ عَادَ فَاجْلِدُوهُ فَإِنْ عَادَ فَاجْلِدُوهُ فَإِنْ عَادَ فَاقْتُلُوهُ

[AI] I heard a man from the companions of the Prophet ﷺ narrating to Abdul-Malik ibn Marwan that he said about alcohol: "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said about alcohol: If he drinks it, then flog him. If he repeats it, then flog him. If he repeats it again, then flog him. If he repeats it for the fourth time, then kill him."

سَمِعْتُ رَجُلًا مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ يُحَدِّثُ عَبْدَ الْمَلِكِ بْنَ مَرْوَانَ أَنَّهُ قَالَ فِي الْخَمْرِ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ فِي الْخَمْرِ إِنْ شَرِبَهَا فَاجْلِدُوهُ ثُمَّ إِنْ عَادَ فَاجْلِدُوهُ ثُمَّ إِنْ عَادَ فَاجْلِدُوهُ ثُمَّ إِنْ عَادَ الرَّابِعَةَ فَاقْتُلُوهُ

[AI] Al-Qa'nabi narrated that Ibn Abi Dhi'b narrated from his maternal uncle Al-Harith ibn Abd al-Rahman, who narrated from Abu Salamah, who narrated from Abu Hurayrah that the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said regarding alcohol, "If anyone drinks it, flog him; if he repeats the offense, flog him again; if he repeats it for a third time, then kill him."

ثَنَا الْقَعْنَبِيُّ ثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي ذِئْبٍ عَنْ خَالِهِ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ فِي الْخَمْرِ «إِنْ شَرِبَهَا فَاجْلِدُوهُ فَإِنْ عَادَ فَاجْلِدُوهُ فَإِنْ عَادَ فِي الرَّابِعَةِ فَاقْتُلُوهُ»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "If someone drinks alcohol, flog him. If he repeats it, flog him again. If he does it a third time, flog him. If he repeats it for the fourth time, kill him." Al-Dhahabi remained silent about this in his summary.

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «إِنْ شَرِبَ الْخَمْرَ فَاجْلِدُوهُ فَإِنْ عَادَ فَاجْلِدُوهُ فَإِنْ عَادَ فَاجْلِدُوهُ فَإِنْ عَادَ فِي الرَّابِعَةِ فَاقْتُلُوهُ» سكت عنه الذهبي في التلخيص

The Prophet ﷺ said: If they (the people) drink wine, flog them, again if they drink it, flog them. Again if they drink it, kill them. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 4482)

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «مَنْ شَرِبَ الْخَمْرَ فَاجْلِدُوهُ فَإِنْ شَرِبَ فَاجْلِدُوهُ فَإِنْ شَرِبَ فَاجْلِدُوهُ فَإِنْ شَرِبَ فَاقْتُلُوهُ»

[AI] From Thakwan, from Abu Salih, he praised him and attributed good to him, from Muawiyah, from the Prophet ﷺ who said, "If they drink alcohol, whip them. And if they drink again, whip them. And if they drink again, whip them. And if they drink for the fourth time, kill them." Sahih.

عَنْ ذَكْوَانَ أَبِي صَالِحٍ وَأَثْنَى عَلَيْهِ خَيْرًا عَنْ مُعَاوِيَةَ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «إِنْ شَرِبُوا الْخَمْرَ فَاجْلِدُوهُمْ ثُمَّ إِنْ شَرِبُوا فَاجْلِدُوهُمْ ثُمَّ إِنْ شَرِبُوا فَاجْلِدُوهُمْ ثُمَّ إِنْ شَرِبُوا الرَّابِعَةَ فَاقْتُلُوهُمْ» صحيح

[AI] About the Prophet ﷺ, he said: "If any one of you drinks wine, then give him lashes. If he does it again, then give him lashes. If he does it again for the third time, then kill him."

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «إِذَا شَرِبَ أَحَدُكُمُ الْخَمْرَ فَاجْلِدُوهُ ثُمَّ إِنْ عَادَ فَاجْلِدُوهُ فَإِنْ عَادَ فِي الرَّابِعَةِ فَاقْتُلُوهُ»

[AI] On the authority of Shurahbil ibn Aws, who was among the companions of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ , the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said, "When someone drinks alcohol, flog him. If he drinks again, flog him. If he drinks again, flog him. If he drinks for the fourth time, kill him." Ad-Dhahabi did not mention this in his summary.

[AI] As for the narration from the companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ regarding alcohol, it is reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever drinks alcohol, then flog him, and if he repeats it, then flog him, and if he repeats it again, then flog him. If he does it for the fourth time, then kill him."

وَأَمَّا حَدِيثُ النَّضْرِ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «مَنْ شَرِبَ الْخَمْرَ فَاجْلِدُوهُ فَإِنْ عَادَ فَاجْلِدُوهُ فَإِنْ عَادَ فَاجْلِدُوهُ فَإِنْ عَادَ الرَّابِعَةَ فَاقْتُلُوهُ»

[AI] I heard the Prophet ﷺ saying, "Whoever drinks wine, whip him, and whoever repeats it, whip him. And if he does it again, kill him."

[AI] On the authority of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , he said, "Whosoever drinks wine, then flog him, but if he returns and repeats it, then kill him on the fourth offense."

عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «مَنْ شَرِبَ الْخَمْرَ فَاجْلِدُوهُ فَإِنْ عَادَ قَالَهَا ثَلَاثًا فِي الرَّابِعَةِ فَاقْتُلُوهُ»

[AI] The Prophet ﷺ said, "Whomever drinks alcohol, flog him; and if he repeats it, flog him again; and if he repeats it again, flog him again; and if he repeats it for the fourth time, kill him."

قَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «مَنْ شَرِبَ الْخَمْرَ فَاجْلِدُوهُ فَإِنْ عَادَ فَاجْلِدُوهُ فَإِنْ عَادَ فَاجْلِدُوهُ فَإِنْ عَادَ الرَّابِعَةَ فَاقْتُلُوهُ»

[AI] On the authority of Shurahbil ibn Aws al-Kindi, who was one of the companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , he said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "If a person drinks alcohol, then whip him. If he drinks it a second time, then whip him. If he drinks it a third time, then whip him. If he drinks it a fourth time, then kill him."

عَنْ شُرَحْبِيلَ بْنِ أَوْسٍ الْكِنْدِيِّ وَكَانَ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «إِذَا شَرِبَ الْخَمْرَ فَاجْلِدُوهُ فَإِنْ شَرِبَهَا الثَّانِيَةَ فَاجْلِدُوهُ فَإِنْ شَرِبَهَا الثَّالِثَةَ فَاجْلِدُوهُ فَإِنْ شَرِبَهَا الرَّابِعَةَ فَاقْتُلُوهُ»

[AI] "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Whoever drinks wine, flog him, then if he drinks again, flog him, then if he drinks again, flog him, then if he drinks it for the fourth time, kill him.' Abdullah bin Amr used to say, 'Bring me a man who has drunk wine three times, for I will surely strike his neck.'"

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «مَنْ شَرِبَ الْخَمْرَ فَاجْلِدُوهُ ثُمَّ إِنْ شَرِبَ فَاجْلِدُوهُ ثُمَّ إِنْ شَرِبَ فَاجْلِدُوهُ ثُمَّ إِنْ شَرِبَ الرَّابِعَةَ فَاقْتُلُوهُ» قَالَ فَكَانَ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عَمْرٍو يَقُولُ ائْتُونِي بِرَجُلٍ شَرِبَ الْخَمْرَ ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ فَلَكُمْ عَلَيَّ أَنْ أَضْرِبَ عُنُقَهُ

[AI] I heard the Prophet ﷺ saying, "If a man drinks alcohol, flog him. If he repeats, flog him again. If he repeats, flog him again. If he repeats, flog him again. If he repeats, then kill him."

سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ يَقُولُ «إِذَا شَرِبَ الرَّجُلُ الْخَمْرَ فَاجْلِدُوهُ ثُمَّ إِنْ عَادَ فَاجْلِدُوهُ ثُمَّ إِنْ عَادَ فَاجْلِدُوهُ ثُمَّ إِنْ عَادَ فَاجْلِدُوهُ ثُمَّ إِنْ عَادَ فَاقْتُلُوهُ»

[AI] Narrated by the Prophet ﷺ , "Whoever drinks alcoholic beverages, flog him." He repeated this three times and then said, "If they drink it for the fourth time, kill them."

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «مَنْ شَرِبَ الْخَمْرَ فَاجْلِدُوهُ» قَالَهَا ثَلَاثًا «فَإِذَا شَرِبُوا الرَّابِعَةَ فَاقْتُلُوهُمْ»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "When someone drinks alcohol, flog them." He said during the fourth offense, "Kill them."

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «إِذَا شَرِبَ الْخَمْرَ فَاجْلِدُوهُ» قَالَ عِنْدَ الرَّابِعَةِ «فَاقْتُلُوهُ»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever drinks alcohol, flog him; if he repeats it, flog him again; and if he repeats it again, kill him."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «مَنْ شَرِبَ الْخَمْرَ فَاضْرِبُوهُ فَإِنْ عَادَ فَاضْرِبُوهُ ثُمَّ إِنْ عَادَ فَاقْتُلُوهُ»

[AI] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "Whoever drinks alcohol, then flog him. If he repeats it, then flog him. If he repeats it again, then flog him. And if he repeats it for the fourth time, then strike his neck."

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «مَنْ شَرِبَ الْخَمْرَ فَاجْلِدُوهُ فَإِنْ عَادَ فَاجْلِدُوهُ فَإِنْ عَادَ فَاجْلِدُوهُ ثَلَاثًا فَإِنْ عَادَ الرَّابِعَةَ فَاضْرِبُوا عُنُقَهُ»

[AI] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying: "Whoever drinks wine, flog him; if he repeats it, flog him; and if he does it again, flog him. If he repeats it for the fourth time, then kill him."

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «مَنْ شَرِبَ الْخَمْرَ فَاجْلِدُوهُ فَإِنْ عَادَ فَاجْلِدُوهُ فَإِنْ عَادَ فَاجْلِدُوهُ فَإِنْ عَادَ الرَّابِعَةَ فَاضْرِبُوا عُنُقَهُ»

[AI] The Prophet ﷺ said, "Whoever drinks alcohol, whip him, and if he repeats the offense, whip him, and if he repeats the offense, whip him, and if he repeats the offense, whip him. And if he continues to do so, kill him."

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «مَنْ شَرِبَ الْخَمْرَ فَاجْلِدُوهُ فَإِنْ عَادَ فَاجْلِدُوهُ فَإِنْ عَادَ فَاجْلِدُوهُ فَإِنْ عَادَ فَاجْلِدُوهُ فَإِنْ رَبَّعَ فَاقْتُلُوهُ»

"The Messenger of Allah [SAW] said: 'Whoever drinks Khamr, whip him; then if he drinks (again), whip him; then if he drinks (again), whip him; then if he drinks (again), kill him.'" (Using translation from Nasāʾī 5661)

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «مَنْ شَرِبَ الْخَمْرَ فَاجْلِدُوهُ ثُمَّ إِنْ شَرِبَ فَاجْلِدُوهُ ثُمَّ إِنْ شَرِبَ فَاجْلِدُوهُ ثُمَّ إِنْ شَرِبَ فَاقْتُلُوهُ»

The Messenger of Allah [SAW] said: "If he becomes drunk, whip him; then if he becomes drunk, whip him; then if he becomes drunk, whip him." Then he said concerning the fourth time, "Strike his neck (i.e., kill him)." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 5662)

عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «إِذَا سَكِرَ فَاجْلِدُوهُ ثُمَّ إِنْ سَكِرَ فَاجْلِدُوهُ ثُمَّ إِنْ سَكِرَ فَاجْلِدُوهُ» ثُمَّ قَالَ الرَّابِعَةَ «فَاضْرِبُوا عُنُقَهُ»

[AI] The Prophet ﷺ said, "Whoever drinks alcohol, flog him. And if he drinks again, flog him. And if he drinks again, flog him. And if he drinks for the fourth time and mentions a word with a certain meaning, then kill him." 'Asim ibn Bahdalah disagreed with this.

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ «مَنْ شَرِبَ الْخَمْرَ فَاجْلِدُوهُ ثُمَّ إِذَا شَرِبَ فَاجْلِدُوهُ ثُمَّ إِذَا شَرِبَ فَاجْلِدُوهُ ثُمَّ إِذَا شَرِبَ فِي الرَّابِعَةِ وَذَكَرَ كَلِمَةً مَعْنَاهَا فَاقْتُلُوهُ» خَالَفَهُ عَاصِمُ بْنُ بَهْدَلَةَ

“If he gets drunk, then whip him. If he does it again, then whip him. If he does it again, then whip him.' And he said concerning the fourth time: 'If he does it again, then strike his neck (i.e., execute him).' ” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 2572)

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «مَنْ شَرِبَ الْخَمْرَ فَاجْلِدُوهُ فَإِنْ عَادَ فَاجْلِدُوهُ فَإِنْ عَادَ فَاجْلِدُوهُ ثُمَّ إِنْ شَرِبَ فِي الرَّابِعَةِ فَاضْرِبُوا عُنُقَهُ»

[AI] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "Whoever drinks alcohol, then whip him. If he repeats, then whip him. If he repeats for the third time, then strike his neck (i.e. kill him).

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «مَنْ شَرِبَ الْخَمْرَ فَاجْلِدُوهُ ثُمَّ إِنْ عَادَ فَاجْلِدُوهُ ثُمَّ إِنْ عَادَ فِي الرَّابِعَةِ فَاضْرِبُوا عُنُقَهُ»

[AI] I heard the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , say, "If someone drinks alcohol, flog him. If he does it again, flog him. If he does it again, flog him. And if he does it a fourth time, then kill him." And this wording is from 'Amr.

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «إِذَا شَرِبَ الْخَمْرَ فَاجْلِدُوهُ ثُمَّ إِنْ شَرِبَ فَاجْلِدُوهُ ثُمَّ إِنْ شَرِبَ فَاجْلِدُوهُ ثُمَّ إِنْ شَرِبَ فَاقْتُلُوهُ»

[AI] "If a man drinks, then flog him, and if he repeats it, flog him again, and if he does it a third time, then kill him." So, a man from among us was brought to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, but he was not killed.

«إِذَا شَرِبَ الرَّجُلُ فَاجْلِدُوهُ فَإِنْ عَادَ فَاجْلِدُوهُ فَإِنْ عَادَ الرَّابِعَةَ فَاقْتُلُوهُ» فَأُتِيَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ بِرَجُلٍ مِنَّا فَلَمْ يَقْتُلْهُ

"إذا شَرَبَ الخمرَ فاجلدوه، ثم إذا شرب فاجلدوه، ثمَّ إذا شربَ الرابعة فاضربوا عنقه".
