[Machine] My father married me to a woman from the Quraysh tribe. When she entered upon me, I made sure not to deny her any of my resources, such as strength or the ability to perform acts of worship, such as fasting and praying. Then 'Amr ibn al-'As came to her, and when he entered upon her he asked her, "How do you find your husband?" She replied, "He is the best of men, and the best of husbands, for he does not question us about our linen and does not inspect our bedding." He then approached me and scolded and bit me with his tongue, saying, "You married a woman from the Quraysh tribe with good lineage and you mistreated her and did what you did." Then he went to the Prophet ﷺ and complained about me, so the Prophet ﷺ sent for me and I came to him. He asked me, "Do you fast during the day?" I replied, "Yes." He asked, "Do you stand for prayer at night?" I replied, "Yes." He said, "But I fast and break my fast, I pray and sleep, and I also have relations with women. Whoever turns away from my Sunnah (tradition), is not one of the Muslims." He told me to recite the Qur'an every month, but I told him that I find myself to be stronger than that. He then told me to recite it every ten days, but I told him that I find myself to be stronger than that. He then said, "Either every fifteen days, or every twenty." I told him that I find myself to be stronger than that. He said, "Fast three days every month." I told him I find myself to be stronger than that. He continued to increase the number until he said, "Fast one day and break your fast one day, for it is the best fasting and it is the fasting of my brother Dawud (David) ﷺ ." He said, "Fast two days and break your fast one day." I said, "I find myself to be stronger than that." He said, "For every worshipper, there is a period, and for every period, there is a limit. Either it leads to following the Sunnah, or it leads to innovation. Whoever's period leads to following the Sunnah, has guided himself, and whoever's period leads to something else, has gone astray." Mujahid said that Abdullah ibn 'Amr used to weaken and get older, and he used to fast days like that, and even extend one day to connect it with another to strengthen himself, then he would break his fast after that. He would also recite a portion of the Quran in each part like that, sometimes increasing and sometimes decreasing the amount, but he always completed the number, either in seven days or three. He said, "After all that, I used to say that accepting the concession of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ is dearer to me than anything else, even if others may dislike it."

[Machine] A man from the Muslims sought permission from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ regarding a woman known as Umm Mahzul. She used to commit adultery and set conditions for him that he should spend on her. So, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ asked him if he informed him about her affair. He replied, then the Prophet ﷺ recited to him the verse: "The fornicator does not marry except a [female] fornicator or polytheist" (Surah An-Nur, 3).

[Machine] The sun became eclipsed during the time of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), and he stood up for prayer, and we stood up with him. He prolonged the standing until we thought that he was not going to bow down (in rukū'). Then he bowed down (in rukū'), and hardly raised his head. Then he prostrated and hardly raised his head. Then he sat down and hardly prostrated. Then he prostrated again and hardly raised his head. Then he performed in the second unit of prayer, just like he did in the first unit. He blew into the ground and wept while he was prostrating in the second unit of prayer, and he said, "My Lord, why do you punish them and I am among them? My Lord, why do you punish us while we seek your forgiveness?" Then he raised his head while the sun appeared and he completed his prayer. Then he praised and glorified Allah and said, "O people, surely the sun and the moon are two signs from the signs of Allah, the Mighty and Majestic. So when one of them becomes eclipsed, seek refuge in the mosques. By the One in whose hand is my soul, Paradise was shown to me until if I had wanted, I could have plucked some of its branches, and Hellfire was shown to me until I became afraid that it might envelope you. And I saw in it a woman who was being punished for a cat that she had tied and did not feed or give to drink, nor did she allow it to eat from the vermin of the earth. Whenever it approached, she would torment it, and whenever it turned away, she would torment it. And I saw in it a man from the Banū Dādāʿ who was being tormented and I saw the owner of the mill reclining over fire onto his millstone, and he used to steal from the hājjāj with his millstone, and when they became aware, he would say, 'I am not the one who stole from you, rather it is my millstone that has been stealing.'"

[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "Wrongdoings are darkness on the Day of Resurrection. And beware of committing obscenity, for indeed Allah does not like obscenity and vulgarity. And beware of covetousness, for indeed covetousness destroyed those who came before you. It commanded them to cut off relations, so they cut them off. And it commanded them to be stingy, so they were stingy. And it commanded them to commit sins and they committed sins." A man stood up and said, "O Messenger of Allah! Which Islam is better?" He ﷺ said, "That you save Muslims from your tongue and your hands." Then another man stood up and said, "O Messenger of Allah! Which migration is better?" The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "That you migrate from what your Lord dislikes. Migration has two types: migration of a person who witnesses it, and migration of the one who follows in his footsteps. The migration of the one who follows in his footsteps is that he should respond when he is called, and he should obey when he is commanded. And the one who witnesses is greater in virtue and reward."

Your father sent me with money to Muawiya and I met Abdullah ibn Amr who narrated to me something he heard from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. I dictated it to him and wrote it down with my own hand, without adding or subtracting a letter. He told me that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Verily, Allah does not like obscenity and indecency nor does He like those who practice them. The Hour will not be established until obscenity, indecency, severing of family ties, and bad neighborly relations appear, and until the traitor and the untrustworthy are trusted.' He also said, 'Behold, your appointment is at my Haudh (pool). Its width and length are equal, like the distance between Ayla and Makkah, which is the length of a month's journey. Its drinkware is whiter than silver, and whoever drinks from it will never be thirsty again.'
