[Machine] A man from the Muslims sought permission from the Prophet of Allah ﷺ regarding a woman known as Um Mahzul, who used to commit adultery and demanded that he spend on her. He sought the permission or mentioned her matter to the Prophet ﷺ , so the Prophet ﷺ recited the verse, "The adulterer does not marry except an adulteress or polytheist." [Surah An-Nur 3] Abu Abdullah Al-Rahman ibn Ahmad said, "My father said, 'Ar’im asked a Mu’tamir about Al-Hadrami?' He replied, 'He used to be a severe ascetic and I have seen him.'"  

أَنَّ رَجُلًا مِنَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ اسْتَأْذَنَ نَبِيَّ اللهِ ﷺ فِي امْرَأَةٍ يُقَالُ لَهَا أُمُّ مَهْزُولٍ كَانَتْ تُسَافِحُ وَتَشْتَرِطُ لَهُأَنْ تُنْفِقَ عَلَيْهِ وَأَنَّهُ اسْتَأْذَنَ فِيهَا النَّبِيَّ ﷺ أَوْ ذَكَرَ لَهُ أَمْرَهَا فَقَرَأَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ {الزَّانِيَةُ لَا يَنْكِحُهَا إِلَّا زَانٍ أَوْ مُشْرِكٌ} [النور 3] قَالَ أُنْزِلَتْ {الزَّانِيَةُ لَا يَنْكِحُهَا إِلَّا زَانٍ أَوْ مُشْرِكٌ} [النور 3] قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ [هُوَ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ] قَالَ أَبِي قَالَ عَارِمٌ سَأَلْتُ مُعْتَمِرًا عَنِ الْحَضْرَمِيِّ؟ فَقَالَ كَانَ قَاصًّا وَقَدْ رَأَيْتُهُ  

[Machine] A man from the Muslims sought permission from the Prophet of Allah ﷺ regarding a woman known as Ummu Muharwil who used to commit adultery and stipulate that he spend on her. The Prophet of Allah ﷺ granted permission and informed him about her situation. The Prophet of Allah ﷺ recited the verse, "The fornicator does not marry except a [female] fornicator or polytheist" [Quran 24:3]. And the verse was revealed, "The fornicatress does not marry except a fornicator or polytheist" [Quran 24:3].
