The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to pray Witr reciting nine surahs from Al-Mufassal. Aswad said: In the first rak’ah he would recite ʿThe mutual rivalry (for piling up of worldly things) diverts youʿ [At-Takathur 102] and “verily, We have sent it (this Qurʿan) down in the Night of Al-Qadr (Decree)ʿ [al-Qadr 97], and ʿWhen the earth is shaken with its (final) earthquakeʿ [az-Zalzalah 99]. In the second rakʿah he would recite ʿBy Al-‘Asr (the time)” [Al-ʻAsr 103] and ʿWhen there comes the Help of Allah (to you, O Muhammad against your enemies) and the Conquest (of Makkah)ʿ [An-Nasr 95] and “Verily. We have granted you (O Muhammad ﷺ) Al-Kawthar (a river in Paradise)ʿ [Al-Kawthar 108]. In the third rakʿah he would recite “Say (O Muhammad to these Mushrikoon and Kafiroon): ʿO Al-Kafiroon (disbelievers in Allah, in His Oneness, in His Angels, in His Books, in His Messengers, in the Day of Resurrection, and in Al Qadar)!” [Al-Kafiroon 109] and “Perish the two hands of Abu Lahab (an uncle of the Prophet ﷺ) and perish he!ʿ [Al-Masad 109] and ʿSay (O Muhammad ﷺ): “He is Allah, (the) One“ [Al-Ikhlas 112].
ʿAli bin Abi Talib ؓ came out to us and they asked him about Witr. He said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded us to pray witr at this time. O Ibn An-Nabbah, give the adhan - or, say the iqamah.
Witr is not a must like (obligatory) prayer, but it is Sunnah, so do not omit it. Shuʿbah said: I found it written with me: And the Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed Witr.
ʿAli ؓ came out to us and said: The Prophet ﷺ has enjoined Witr, and this is the time to pray Witr. O Ibnun-Nabbah, give the call to prayer.
It was narrated from ‘Ali ؓ that The Prophet ﷺ used to pray Witr at the time of the adhan.
It is not like the obligatory prayer, but it is a Sunnah that was done by the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and his Companions, and they continued doing it until the end of their lives.
ʿAli bin Abi Talib ؓ came out to us when we were in the mosque and said: Where is the one who was asking about Witr? Those among us who had started the first rakʿah added a second to it so as to make it even, then we gathered around him and he said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to pray Witr at the beginning of the night, then he prayed Witr in the middle of the night, then he settled on praying Witr at this time. He said: That was when dawn was breaking.
If you are told a hadeeth from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, then think of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in the best, most pious and most guided manner. ‘Ali ؓ came out to us when the mu’adhdhin was giving the call to prayer and said: Where is the one who was asking about Witr This time for Witr is good.
"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to recite in witr: Glorify the Name of Your Lord, the Most High;' and "Say: O you disbelievers!'; and 'Say: He is Allah, (the) One." And after he had said the salam, he would say: Subhanal-Malikil-Quddus (Glory be to the Sovereign, the Most Holy) three times, elongating the words the third time, then raising it." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 1753)
[Machine] I went to visit my aunt Maymuna and found her night like that of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. He mentioned a hadith similar to that of Yazid, except that he said, "When the first light of dawn appeared, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ would hold back a little until it became bright for him, then he would stand and pray the Witr prayer consisting of nine Rak'ahs. He would make the Salam after every two Rak'ahs until he finished his Witr. Then he would sleep a little until he woke up in himself [referring to his own routine]. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ would then stand and perform two Rak'ahs of the Fajr prayer, then he would lie down on his side and go to sleep until I heard his gentle snoring. Then Bilal came and woke him up for the prayer. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood up and performed the Fajr prayer."
Meaning of oath of ten nights, the even, and the odd in Surat al-Fajr
from the Prophet ﷺ who said: The ten are the ten of ˹days˺ of Adha (Dhu al-Hijjah), the odd is the Day of Arafah, and the even is the Day of Nahr (sacrifice).
[Machine] Jaber reported that I heard the Prophet ﷺ saying, "Whoever is afraid of not being able to get up at night, let him perform the Tahajjud prayer and then sleep. And whoever hopes to get up for prayer, let him perform the Tahajjud prayer at the end of the night, for reciting at the end of the night is witnessed and that is the best."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ taught him to say in the Witr prayer, and he mentioned a similar narration to the one of Yunus.
[Machine] The Prophet, ﷺ , said some words that I say during the Witr prayer and recalled the narration.
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ used to pray eight rak'ahs at night, and then he would perform the witr prayer with three rak'ahs. He would pray two more rak'ahs, so when he said the takbeer, it became nine, six, and three.
[Machine] From Abu Ja'far and Ata', they said: "The Eid al-Adha is a Sunnah." And Ikrima reported from Ibn Abbas, who said: "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'I have been commanded to perform the Eid al-Adha and the Witr prayer, and they were not written down.'"
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ said: "Whoever oversleeps or forgets to perform the Witr prayer, should offer it whenever they remember it or wake up."
[Machine] "That I do not sleep except on a single occasion."
[Machine] "From my beloved friend Abu Qasim ﷺ , it is recommended to perform the Witr prayer before sleep, fast three days every month, and perform the two Rak'at of Duha prayer."
[Machine] "And that I fast three days from every month, and that I do not neglect the two rak'ahs of Duha prayer."
"The Messenger of Allah commanded me to pray two Rakahs of Duha, and not to sleep until I had prayed witr, and to fast three days each month." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 2369)
[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "Whoever neglects the Asr prayer, it is as if he has lost his family and wealth." Shayban (May Allah be pleased with him) commented, it means he has been defeated in terms of his family and wealth.
[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying: "Whoever intentionally leaves the ‘Asr prayer until the sun sets, it is as if he has lost his family and wealth."
[Machine] Abu Hamzah, also known as Al-Sukkari, narrated from Ibrahim, also known as Al-Sa'igh, from Nafi', from Ibn Umar, who said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to separate the Witr prayer from the Shaf and would conclude it with a salutation that we could hear.
[Machine] I heard the Prophet ﷺ say, "Whoever intentionally neglects the afternoon prayer (Asr) until the sun sets, it is as if he has lost his family and his wealth."
Abdullah relates on the authority of his father. He who missed his afternoon prayer it is as though he was deprived of his family and property. (Using translation from Muslim 626c)
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to pray the night prayer in pairs, then he would perform Witr prayer with one rak'ah at the end of the night. After that, he would stand up as if hearing the Adhan or the Iqamah in his ears.
[Machine] He used to pray on his camel, perform the Witr prayer on it, and mention this was done by the Prophet ﷺ .
[Machine] The translation of the given phrase into English is: "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ and the Muslims prayed the Witr prayer."
[Machine] "Indeed, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Indeed, Allah has increased your prayers. So safeguard it, and it is the Witr prayer. It was reported that 'Amr ibn Shuayb saw that Witr is to be repeated even after a month."
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ advised me of three things which I will never abandon; praying Tahajjud in the night, fasting three days of every month, and performing two units of Dhuha prayer. He then added, "Afterwards, Hasan mimicked him and replaced Dhuha prayer with washing on the day of Jumu'ah (Friday)."

[Machine] A man said to Ibn Umar, "Do you consider Witr (odd number of units of prayer) to be a recommended practice?" He replied, "It is not a recommended practice, but the Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed Witr and the Muslims also prayed Witr." The man then asked, "So, it is not recommended?" Ibn Umar replied, "Are you trying to understand whether it is recommended or not? The Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed Witr and the Muslims also prayed Witr."

[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: "There will be three Egypt's for the Muslims: one in the meeting of the two seas, one in the lake, and one in Sham. People will be terrified by three frights, and then the Dajjal will emerge among the people. Those who face the east will defeat him. The first Egypt to intercept him will be the Egypt in the meeting of the two seas. Its people will be divided into three factions: one faction will say, 'We will stay and see what happens,' another faction will join the Arabs, and another faction will join the Egypt that comes after them. With the Dajjal, there will be seventy thousand armed with armors and accompanying him, and the majority of them will be Jews and women. Then, the other Egypt that comes after will intercept him and its people will be divided into three factions: one faction will say, 'We will stay and see what happens,' another faction will join the Arabs, and another faction will join the Egypt that comes after them towards the west of Sham. The Muslims will gather at the pass of Afiq, so they send out a detachment, and when the detachment is hit, it will be severe for them. They will be affected by severe famine and hardship, to the extent that one of them will burn and consume the string of his bow. While they are in that state, a caller from magic will call, 'O people, the relief has come to you three times.' Some of them will say to others, 'Indeed, this is the voice of a satisfied man.' Then, 'Isa ibn Maryam will descend when it is time for Fajr prayer. Their leader will say to him, 'O Spirit of Allah, pray.' He will reply, 'The leaders of this Ummah are some over others.' Then, their leader will come forward and lead the prayer. When he finishes his prayer, 'Isa will take his weapon and head towards the Dajjal, and when the Dajjal sees him, he will melt just as lead melts. 'Isa will place his weapon between the Dajjal's shoulders and kill him, and the followers of the Dajjal will be defeated. That day, there will be nothing to hide from them, to the extent that the tree will say, 'O believer, there is a disbeliever behind me,' and the stone will say, 'O believer, there is a disbeliever behind me."

[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, say: "There will be three Egypt. One in the meeting point of the two seas, one in the Arabian Peninsula, and one in the Levant. People will be alarmed three times, and then the Dajjal will emerge with an army. He will be defeated by the people from the east, and the first Egypt to repel him will be the Egypt in the meeting point of the two seas. Its people will be divided into three groups: one group will establish and proclaim their loyalty to him, another group will join the Bedouins, and another group will follow the Egypt in the Arabian Peninsula. Then, the Egypt in the Arabian Peninsula will come, and its people will also be divided into three groups. The same process will repeat with the Egypt in the Levant. Finally, the Muslims will gather at the mountain pass of Afiq and will send an army. Their army will suffer losses, and they will face severe famine and hardship. They will be in such a dire condition that one of them will burn his bowstring and eat it. While they are in this state, a caller from the sky will call out to them, saying, 'O people, relief has come to you!' Some of them will say to others, 'Indeed, this is the voice of a satiated man.' Then, Prophet Isa (Jesus), peace be upon him, will descend at the time of Fajr prayer and lead the people in prayer. The imam of the people will step forward and say, 'O Spirit of Allah, proceed and lead us in prayer.' Isa will reply, 'You are the leaders of this Ummah, so you should lead us in prayer.' He will then lead them in prayer. When he finishes, Isa will take up arms and go towards the Dajjal. When the Dajjal sees him, he will dissolve like salt dissolves in water, and his weapon will fall beside him. Isa will then kill the Dajjal, and his companions will be defeated. On that day, no one will be spared except for the believers, even the stones will speak and say, 'O believer, there is a disbeliever behind me, so kill him.'"

[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say to the Muslims, "There are three Egypt's: one at the meeting point of the two seas, one in the Nile Delta, and one in Sham (Syria). The Muslims will be terrified by three terrifying events: the emergence of the Dajjal (Antichrist) in the East, which will be defeated by the first Egypt (meeting point of the two seas) with an army of seventy thousand, accompanied by a group of Jews and women. The people of Egypt will be divided into three groups: one group will stay in Egypt and say, 'We will defend ourselves,' one group will join the Bedouins, and one group will join the second Egypt (in the Nile Delta). Then the Dajjal will proceed to Sham, while its people take refuge in the mountain pass of Afiq. They will send a detachment to confront him, but they will be defeated. They will face severe famine and hardships, to the extent that one of them will burn his bow and eat it. While they are in that state, a caller from the sky will announce, 'O people, here comes your help!' They will say, 'This is the voice of a well-fed person.' Then Jesus the son of Mary ﷺ will descend while leading the Fajr prayer, and the people will say to him, 'O Spirit of Allah, come forward and lead us in prayer.' He will reply, 'You are all leaders of Muhammad's nation, some of you leading others. So, you should come forward and lead the prayer.' The leader will then perform the prayer, and Jesus will take his weaponry and head towards the Dajjal. When the Dajjal sees Jesus, he will dissolve like salt in water, and Jesus will place his spear in the ground between the two horns of the Dajjal and kill him. The companions of the Dajjal will be defeated, and there will not be a single one among them without being killed. Even the trees and rocks will say, 'O believer, there is a disbeliever behind me, so kill him!'"

[Machine] I said to a person who was dividing the night into three parts and then performing Tahajjud prayer, fearing that I might miss it. He said, "There is no Tahajjud except in sets of five or seven." So I mentioned this to Yahya ibn Al-Jazzaar and Mujahid, and they asked me, "Who did you hear this from?" I replied, "From trustworthy people, narrated by Aisha and Maymunah from the Prophet ﷺ ."

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "The Night of Decree is in the last ten nights of Ramadan. Whoever observes them in worship, seeking his reward from Allah, will have his previous sins forgiven and his future sins pardoned. It is a night of odd numbers; the 21st, 23rd, 25th, 27th, or the 29th night of Ramadan. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ also said: "The sign of the Night of Decree is that it is a peaceful night with moderate weather. It is as if there is a shining moon without any extreme cold or heat. It is not permissible for any celestial body to be thrown by the shaytan on that night. Its sign is that the sun rises on the morning of that night without rays, similar to the moon on the night of the full moon. On that day, it is not permissible for the shaytan to leave with the sunrise."
