It was narrated from Umar bin Abi Salamah that he saw Messenger of Allah ﷺpraying in a single garment in the house of Umm Salamah, putting the ends of it on his shoulders."

أَنَّهُ رَأَى رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يُصَلِّي فِي ثَوْبٍ وَاحِدٍ فِي بَيْتِ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ وَاضِعًا طَرَفَيْهِ عَلَى عَاتِقَيْهِ

“I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ performing prayer in a single garment, wrapping himself in it and throwing the ends over his shoulders.”

رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يُصَلِّي فِي ثَوْبٍ وَاحِدٍ مُتَوَشِّحًا بِهِ وَاضِعًا طَرَفَيْهِ عَلَى عَاتِقَيْهِ

“I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ performing prayer in a single garment, wrapping himself in it and throwing the ends over his shoulders.” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 1049)

صَلَّى رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فِي ثَوْبٍ وَاحِدٍ وَاضِعًا طَرَفَيْهِ عَلَى عَاتِقَيْهِ

Yahya related to me from Malik from Hisham ibn Urwa from his father that Umar ibn Abi Salama saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ praying in one garment in the house of Umm Salama. He was completely covered by it, and had put both ends over his shoulders.

أَنَّهُ رَأَى رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يُصَلِّي فِي ثَوْبٍ وَاحِدٍ مُشْتَمِلاً بِهِ فِي بَيْتِ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ وَاضِعًا طَرَفَيْهِ عَلَى عَاتِقَيْهِ

"Fatimah bint Abi Hubaish said to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ: 'O Messenger of Allah ﷺ, I do not become pure. Should I stop praying? The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'That is a vein and is not menstruation. When your period comes, stop praying, and when the same amount of time as your regular period has passed, then wash the blood from yourself and pray.'" (Using translation from Nasāʾī 218)

حَدَّثَنَا الْقَعْنَبِيُّ عَنْ مَالِكٍ عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ أَنَّهَا قَالَتْ قَالَتْ فَاطِمَةُ بِنْتُ أَبِي حُبَيْشٍ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنِّي لَا أَطْهُرُ أَفَأَدَعُ الصَّلَاةَ؟ قَالَتْ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «إِنَّمَا ذَلِكَ عِرْقٌ وَلَيْسَ بِالْحَيْضَةِ فَإِذَا أَقْبَلَتِ الْحَيْضَةُ فَاتْرُكِي الصَّلَاةَ فَإِذَا ذَهَبَ عَنْكِ قَدْرُهَا فَاغْسِلِي عَنْكِ الدَّمَ وَصَلِّي»

أن فاطمة بنت أبي حبيش سَأَلْتَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ فقالت يا رسول الله إني استحاض أفأدع الصلاة؟ قال إنما ذلك عرق فإذا أقبلت الحيضة فدعي الصلاة فإذا أدبرت فاغتسلي وصلي

[AI] Al-Qa'nabi narrated to us, and Bakr ibn Sahl narrated to us, and Abdullah ibn Yusuf narrated to us, and Ali ibn Al-Mubarak Al-San'aani narrated to us, and Ismail ibn Abi Uwais narrated to us, all of them from Malik ibn Anas, from Yahya ibn Sa'eed, from Adi ibn Thabit, from Abdullah ibn Yazid Al-Khatmi, from Abu Ayyub Al-Ansari, who informed him that he prayed with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ during the Farewell Hajj the Maghrib and Isha prayers in Muzdalifah together. The wording belongs to Mu'tarrif's hadith.

[AI] that they found in the book of Sa'd ibn 'Ubadah that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ruled by swearing an oath with a single witness. The wording is from the hadith of Ibn Abi Uwais.

أَنَّهُمْ وَجَدُوا فِي كِتَابِ سَعْدِ بْنِ عُبَادَةَ ؓ «أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَضَى بِالْيَمِينِ مَعَ الشَّاهِدِ الْوَاحِدِ» وَاللَّفْظُ لِحَدِيثِ ابْنِ أَبِي أُوَيْسٍ

In the year of the conquest of Khaibar I went with Messenger of Allah ﷺ till we reached Sahba, a place near Khaibar, where Messenger of Allah ﷺ offered the ʿAsr prayer and asked for food. Nothing but saweeq was brought. He ordered it to be moistened with water. He and all of us ate it and the Prophet ﷺ got up for the evening prayer (Maghrib prayer), rinsed his mouth with water and we did the same, and he then prayed without repeating the ablution. “I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ performing prayer in a single garment, wrapping himself in it and throwing the ends over his shoulders.” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 1049)

[AI] Al-Qa'nabi narrated from Malik who narrated to us from Ali bin al-Mubarak al-Sanaani that Ismail bin Abi Uwais narrated to me from Malik who narrated to us from Abu Yazid al-Qaratisi who narrated from Abdullah bin Abdullah bin Umar from Saeed bin Yasar that he said: "I was traveling with Abdullah bin Umar on the road to Mecca. Saeed said: When I feared dawn, I stopped and performed the Witr prayer." Abdullah said: "Is there not a good example in the Messenger of Allah?" I said: "Yes." He said: "Indeed, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to perform the Witr prayer on a camel."

[AI] Al-Qa'nabi narrated from Malik that Ali bin Al-Mubarak Al-Sanaani narrated to me that Ismail bin Abi Uwais narrated to me from Malik that Amr bin Yahya narrated to me from Sa'id bin Yasir, from Ibn Umar who said, "I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ praying on his donkey while he was heading towards Khaybar."

[AI] Al-Qa'nabi narrated from Malik that Bakr ibn Sahl narrated from Abdullah ibn Yusuf who informed us that Malik narrated from Ali ibn al-Mubarak al-Sana'ani who narrated from Ismail ibn Abi Uwais who informed me that Malik narrated from Nafi' who narrated from Ibn Umar who narrated from Hafsah that "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to pray two short rak'ahs after the Mu'adhdhin finished the Adhan before the prayer was established."

[AI] that Fatimah b. Abu Hubaysh said: "O Messenger of Allah, I have irregular bleeding, shall I abandon the prayer?" The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to her: "That is only from a vein and it is not menstruation. When the menstruation begins, then abandon the prayer, and when it ends, wash off the blood and pray."

She sat him in his chamber and he vomited on his garment. The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , called for water and he rinsed it off, but did not wash it.

It was narrated from Umar bin Abi Salamah that he saw Messenger of Allah ﷺpraying in a single garment in the house of Umm Salamah, putting the ends of it on his shoulders." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 764)

أَنَّهُ رَأَى رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ «يُصَلِّي فِي ثَوْبٍ وَاحِدٍ فِي بَيْتِ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ وَاضِعًا طَرَفَيْهِ عَلَى عَاتِقَيْهِ»

[AI] She said, she said: "Oh Messenger of Allah, I am not pure. Should I leave prayer?" The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , said to her: "That is just a vein, it is not menstruation. When menstruation begins, leave prayer. And when its duration ends, wash off the blood and perform prayer."

أَنَّهَا قَالَتْ قَالَتْ فَاطِمَةُ بِنْتُ أَبِي حُبَيْشٍ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنِّي لَا أَطْهُرُ أَفَأَدَعُ الصَّلَاةَ؟ فَقَالَ لَهَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِنَّمَا ذَلِكَ عِرْقٌ وَلَيْسَ بِالْحَيْضَةِ فَإِذَا أَقْبَلَتِ الْحَيْضَةُ فَاتْرُكِي الصَّلَاةَ وَإِذَا ذَهَبَ قَدْرُهَا فَاغْسِلِي الدَّمَ عَنْكِ وَصَلِّي

The Prophet ﷺ prayed in one garment and crossed its ends. (Using translation from Bukhārī 354)

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ صَلَّى فِي ثَوْبٍ وَاحِدٍ قَدْ خَالَفَ بَيْنَ طَرَفَيْهِ عَلَى عَاتِقَيْهِ

Fatimah daughter of Abu Hubaish came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said: I am a woman who has prolonged flow of blood; I am never purified ; should I abandon prayer ? He replied: This is (due to) a vein, and not menstruation. When the menstruation begins, you should abandon prayer ; when it is finished, you should wash away the blood and pray. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 282)

جَاءَتْ فَاطِمَةُ بِنْتُ أَبِي حُبَيْشٍ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَتْ إِنِّي مُسْتَحَاضَةٌ فَلَا أَطْهُرُ أَفَأَدَعُ الصَّلَاةَ؟ قَالَ لَا إِنَّمَا ذَلِكَ عِرْقٌ وَلَيْسَ بِالْحَيْضِ فَإِذَا أَقْبَلَتِ الْحَيْضَةُ فَدَعِي الصَّلَاةَ وَإِذَا أَدْبَرَتْ فَاغْسِلِي عَنْكِ الدَّمَ وَصَلِّي أَخْرَجَاهُ مِنْ حَدِيثِ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ فِي الصَّحِيحِ

if anyone prays in a single piece of cloth, he should cross the two ends. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 627)

"إذا صلَّى أحدُكُمْ في ثوبٍ واحدٍ فليخالِفْ بين طرفيه على عاتقيه".

" عَنْ عُمَر بْنِ أَبِى سَلَمَةَ قَالَ: رَأَيْتُ النَّبِىَّ ﷺ يُصَلِّى فِى بَيْتِ أُمَّ سَلَمَةَ فِى ثَوْبٍ واحِدٍ مُتَوَشِّحًا بِهِ، وَاضِعًا طَرَفَيْه عَلَى عَاتِقيه".
