The Prophet ﷺ prayed in one garment and crossed its ends.

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ صَلَّى فِي ثَوْبٍ وَاحِدٍ قَدْ خَالَفَ بَيْنَ طَرَفَيْهِ

I saw the Prophet ﷺ offering prayers in a single garment in the house of Um-Salama and he had crossed its ends around his shoulders.

أَنَّهُ رَأَى النَّبِيَّ ﷺ يُصَلِّي فِي ثَوْبٍ وَاحِدٍ فِي بَيْتِ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ قَدْ أَلْقَى طَرَفَيْهِ عَلَى عَاتِقَيْهِ

In the house of Um-Salama I saw Messenger of Allah ﷺ offering prayers, wrapped in a single garment around his body with its ends crossed round his shoulders.

أَخْبَرَهُ قَالَ رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يُصَلِّي فِي ثَوْبٍ وَاحِدٍ مُشْتَمِلاً بِهِ فِي بَيْتِ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ وَاضِعًا طَرَفَيْهِ عَلَى عَاتِقَيْهِ

The Prophet ﷺ said, "None of you should offer prayer in a single garment that does not cover the shoulders."

قَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ لاَ يُصَلِّي أَحَدُكُمْ فِي الثَّوْبِ الْوَاحِدِ لَيْسَ عَلَى عَاتِقَيْهِ شَىْءٌ

Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever prays in a single garment must cross its ends (over the shoulders).

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ مَنْ صَلَّى فِي ثَوْبٍ وَاحِدٍ فَلْيُخَالِفْ بَيْنَ طَرَفَيْهِ

I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ praying in Umm Salama's house in a single garment, placing its two ends over his shoulders.

أَخْبَرَهُ قَالَ رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يُصَلِّي فِي ثَوْبٍ وَاحِدٍ مُشْتَمِلاً بِهِ فِي بَيْتِ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ وَاضِعًا طَرَفَيْهِ عَلَى عَاتِقَيْهِ

I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying prayer in the house of Umm Salama in a single garment with its extremities crossing each other.

رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يُصَلِّي فِي بَيْتِ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ فِي ثَوْبٍ قَدْ خَالَفَ بَيْنَ طَرَفَيْهِ

I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ praying in a single garment crossing the two ends.

رَأَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ يُصَلِّي فِي ثَوْبٍ وَاحِدٍ مُتَوَشِّحًا بِهِ

Abu Murra narrated on the authority of Umm Hani that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on the day of the Conquest of Mecca observed in her house eight rak'ahs of prayer in one cloth, its opposite corners having been tied from the opposite sides.

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ صَلَّى فِي بَيْتِهَا عَامَ الْفَتْحِ ثَمَانِيَ رَكَعَاتٍ فِي ثَوْبٍ وَاحِدٍ قَدْ خَالَفَ بَيْنَ طَرَفَيْهِ

if anyone prays in a single piece of cloth, he should cross the two ends.

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِذَا صَلَّى أَحَدُكُمْ فِي ثَوْبٍ فَلْيُخَالِفْ بِطَرَفَيْهِ عَلَى عَاتِقَيْهِ

I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ praying girded with a single (piece of) cloth, place its two ends over his shoulders.

رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يُصَلِّي فِي ثَوْبٍ وَاحِدٍ مُلْتَحِفًا مُخَالِفًا بَيْنَ طَرَفَيْهِ عَلَى مَنْكِبَيْهِ

It was narrated from Umar bin Abi Salamah that he saw Messenger of Allah ﷺpraying in a single garment in the house of Umm Salamah, putting the ends of it on his shoulders."

أَنَّهُ رَأَى رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يُصَلِّي فِي ثَوْبٍ وَاحِدٍ فِي بَيْتِ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ وَاضِعًا طَرَفَيْهِ عَلَى عَاتِقَيْهِ

“I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ performing prayer in a single garment, wrapping himself in it and throwing the ends over his shoulders.”

رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يُصَلِّي فِي ثَوْبٍ وَاحِدٍ مُتَوَشِّحًا بِهِ وَاضِعًا طَرَفَيْهِ عَلَى عَاتِقَيْهِ

[AI] On the authority of the Prophet ﷺ , he said: "When one of you prays in one garment, he should differentiate between its two ends upon his shoulders."

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ إِذَا صَلَّى أَحَدُكُمْ فِي ثَوْبٍ وَاحِدٍ فَلْيُخَالِفْ بَيْنَ طَرَفَيْهِ عَلَى عَاتِقَيْهِ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا صَلَّى أَحَدُكُمْ فِي ثَوْبٍ فَلْيَجْعَلْ طَرَفَيْهِ عَلَى عَاتِقَيْهِ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا صَلَّى أَحَدُكُمْ فِي الثَّوْبِ الْوَاحِدِ فَلْيَجْعَلْ طَرَفَيْهِ عَلَى عَاتِقَيْهِ

"Messenger of Allah performed Salat during his illness behind Abu Bakr while seated, wrapped in a garment." (Using translation from Tirmidhī 363)

صَلَّى رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ خَلْفَ أَبِي بَكْرٍ فِي ثَوْبٍ مُتَوَشِّحًا بِهِ

I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ praying in a single garment with its ends crossing each other. 'Isa b. Hammad added:" placing on his shoulders". (Using translation from Muslim 517d)

رَأَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ يُصَلِّي فِي ثَوْبٍ وَاحِدٍ

I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ praying in a single garment crossing the two ends. (Using translation from Muslim 518a)

رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يُصَلِّي فِي ثَوْبٍ وَاحِدٍ مُتَوَشِّحًا بِهِ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever prays in one garment, let him be gentle with it."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مَنْ صَلَّى فِي ثَوْبٍ وَاحِدٍ فَلْيَتَعَطَّفْ بِهِ

[AI] I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ praying in a single garment, wrapped around him. He said, "Afaanu has blended between his sides."

رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يُصَلِّي فِي ثَوْبٍ وَاحِدٍ مُتَوَشِّحًا بِهِ قَالَ عَفَّانُ قَدْ خَالَفَ بَيْنَ طَرَفَيْهِ

[AI] Someone informed me that they saw the Prophet ﷺ praying in a single garment that covered both of his shoulders.

أَخْبَرَنِي مَنْ رَأَى النَّبِيَّ ﷺ يُصَلِّي فِي ثَوْبٍ وَاحِدٍ قَدْ خَالَفَ بَيْنَ طَرَفَيْهِ

[AI] "I saw the Prophet praying in a single garment with a separation between its two ends."

رَأَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ يُصَلِّي فِي ثَوْبٍ وَاحِدٍ قَدْ خَالَفَ بَيْنَ طَرَفَيْهِ

[AI] Someone informed me that they saw the Prophet ﷺ praying in a single garment that he had wrapped around his shoulders.

أَخْبَرَنِي مَنْ رَأَى النَّبِيَّ ﷺ يُصَلِّي فِي ثَوْبٍ وَاحِدٍ قَدْ خَالَفَ بَيْنَ طَرَفَيْهِ

[AI] Someone told me that they saw the Prophet (PBUH) praying in a garment that had a difference or discrepancy between its two ends.

أَخْبَرَنِي مَنْ رَأَى النَّبِيَّ ﷺ يُصَلِّي فِي ثَوْبٍ قَدْ خَالَفَ بَيْنَ طَرَفَيْهِ

[AI] "I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ praying in a single garment. Waki' narrated that he saw him in the house of Umm Salamah wearing a garment and he had thrown its corners over his shoulder in the house of Umm Salamah."

رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يُصَلِّي فِي ثَوْبٍ وَاحِدٍ قَالَ وَكِيعٌ فِي بَيْتِ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ فِي ثَوْبٍ قَدْ أَلْقَى طَرَفَيْهِ عَلَى عَاتِقِهِ فِي بَيْتِ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ

[AI] I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ praying in the house of Umm Salamah, wearing a single garment that covered him completely.

رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يُصَلِّي فِي بَيْتِ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ فِي ثَوْبٍ وَاحِدٍ مُشْتَمِلًا بِهِ

[AI] I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ praying in a single garment that was tucked between his arms, placing his arms on his shoulders.

رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يُصَلِّي فِي ثَوْبٍ وَاحِدٍ قَدْ خَالَفَ بَيْنَ طَرَفَيْهِ جَعَلَ طَرَفَيْهِ عَلَى عَاتِقَيْهِ

[AI] I have seen the Messenger of Allah ﷺ praying in a single garment, wrapped around him.

قَدْ رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يُصَلِّي فِي ثَوْبٍ وَاحِدٍ مُتَوَشِّحًا بِهِ

[AI] "He saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ praying in the house of Umm Salamah, wearing a wrapped garment that was distinct on either side."

أَنَّهُ رَأَى رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يُصَلِّي فِي بَيْتِ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ فِي ثَوْبٍ مُلْتَحِفًا بِهِ مُخَالِفًا بَيْنَ طَرَفَيْهِ

[AI] Someone told me that they saw the Prophet ﷺ praying in a single garment, with one side differing from the other.

أَخْبَرَنِي مَنْ رَأَى النَّبِيَّ ﷺ يُصَلِّي فِي الثَّوْبِ الْوَاحِدِ قَدْ خَالَفَ بَيْنَ طَرَفَيْهِ

[AI] She saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ praying eight rak'ahs in one garment, differentiating between its two sides, in Makkah on the day of the conquest.

أَنَّهَا رَأَتْ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يُصَلِّي فِي ثَوْبٍ وَاحِدٍ مُخَالِفًا بَيْنَ طَرَفَيْهِ ثَمَانِ رَكَعَاتٍ بِمَكَّةَ يَوْمَ الْفَتْحِ

Yahya related to me from Malik from Hisham ibn Urwa from his father that Umar ibn Abi Salama saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ praying in one garment in the house of Umm Salama. He was completely covered by it, and had put both ends over his shoulders.

أَنَّهُ رَأَى رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يُصَلِّي فِي ثَوْبٍ وَاحِدٍ مُشْتَمِلاً بِهِ فِي بَيْتِ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ وَاضِعًا طَرَفَيْهِ عَلَى عَاتِقَيْهِ

Yahya related to me from Malik from Musa ibn Maysara from Abu Murra, the mawla of Aqil ibn Abi Talib, that Umm Hani bint Abi Talib told him that in the year of the conquest the Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed eight rakas, covering himself with one garment.

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ صَلَّى عَامَ الْفَتْحِ ثَمَانِيَ رَكَعَاتٍ مُلْتَحِفًا فِي ثَوْبٍ وَاحِدٍ

when any of you prays and takes off his sandals, he should not harm anyone by them. He should place them between his feet or pray with them on (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 655)

عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ «إِذَا صَلَّى أَحَدُكُمْ فَلْيَخْلَعْ نَعْلَيْهِ بَيْنَ رِجْلَيْهِ أَوْ لِيُصَلِّ فِيهِمَا» على شرطهما

I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ praying in a single garment crossing the two ends. (Using translation from Muslim 518a)

«رَأَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ يُصَلِّي فِي ثَوْبٍ وَاحِدٍ مُتَوَشِّحًا بِهِ»

It was narrated from Umar bin Abi Salamah that he saw Messenger of Allah ﷺpraying in a single garment in the house of Umm Salamah, putting the ends of it on his shoulders." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 764)

«أَنَّهُ رَأَى النَّبِيَّ ﷺ يُصَلِّي فِي ثَوْبٍ وَاحِدٍ فِي بَيْتِ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ وَاضِعًا طَرَفَيْهِ عَلَى عَاتِقِهِ»

[AI] "He entered upon the Messenger of Allahﷺ and saw him praying in a single garment that had been turned inside out."

«أَنَّهُ دَخَلَ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَرَآهُ يُصَلِّي فِي ثَوْبٍ وَاحِدٍ قَدْ خَالَفَ بَيْنَ طَرَفَيْهِ»

[AI] He said, "I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ praying in one garment, covering himself with it."

أَنَّهُ قَالَ «رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يُصَلِّي فِي ثَوْبٍ وَاحِدٍ مُشْتَمِلًا بِهِ»

“I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ performing prayer in a single garment, wrapping himself in it and throwing the ends over his shoulders.” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 1049)

«رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يُصَلِّي فِي ثَوْبٍ وَاحِدِ مُتَوَشِّحًا بِهِ قَدْ خَالَفَ بَيْنَ طَرَفَيْهِ»

The Prophet ﷺ prayed in one garment and crossed its ends. (Using translation from Bukhārī 354)

«أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ صَلَّى فِي ثَوْبٍ وَاحِدٍ قَدْ خَالَفَ بَيْنَ طَرَفَيْهِ»

[AI] Al-Qa'nabi narrated that Malik said, "Bakr ibn Sahl narrated to us, from Abdullah ibn Yusuf, from me, Malik, that Ali ibn Al-Mubarak Al-San'aani narrated to us, from Ismail ibn Abi Uways, who narrated to me from Malik, from Hisham ibn Urwah, from his father, from Umar ibn Abi Salamah, that he saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ praying in a single garment, in the house of Umm Salamah, with his arms resting on his shoulders."

ثنا الْقَعْنَبِيُّ عَنْ مَالِكٍ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا بَكْرُ بْنُ سَهْلٍ ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ يُوسُفَ أَنَا مَالِكٌ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ الصَّنْعَانِيُّ ثنا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ أَبِي أُوَيْسٍ حَدَّثَنِي مَالِكٌ عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ أَنَّهُ «رَأَى رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يُصَلِّي فِي ثَوْبٍ وَاحِدٍ فِي بَيْتِ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ وَاضِعًا طَرَفَيْهِ عَلَى عَاتِقِهِ»

[AI] I heard Umar ibn Abi Salamah say, "I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ praying in my mother's house wearing a single garment wrapped around him."

سَمِعْتُ عُمَرَ بْنَ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ يَقُولُ «رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يُصَلِّي فِي بَيْتِ أُمِّي فِي ثَوْبٍ وَاحِدٍ مُتَوَشِّحًا بِهِ»

I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ praying girded with a single (piece of) cloth, place its two ends over his shoulders. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 628)

“I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ performing prayer in a single garment, wrapping himself in it and throwing the ends over his shoulders.” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 1049)

«رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يُصَلِّي فِي ثَوْبٍ وَاحِدٍ وَاضِعًا طَرْفَهُ عَلَى عَاتِقَيْهِ فِي بَيْتِ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ»

[AI] "I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ praying while wearing a single garment that he wrapped around himself in the house of Umm Salamah."

«رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يُصَلِّي فِي ثَوْبٍ وَاحِدٍ مُشْتَمِلًا بِهِ فِي بَيْتِ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ»
