"My mother died and did not leave a will; shall I give charity on her behalf?" He said: "Yes."

أَنَّ سَعْدًا سَأَلَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ إِنَّ أُمِّي مَاتَتْ وَلَمْ تُوصِ أَفَأَتَصَدَّقُ عَنْهَا قَالَ نَعَمْ

"I said: 'O Messenger of Allah, my mother has died; shall I give in charity on her behalf?' He said: 'Yes.' I said: 'What kind of charity is best?' He said: 'Providing drinking water.'"

قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّ أُمِّي مَاتَتْ أَفَأَتَصَدَّقُ عَنْهَا قَالَ نَعَمْ قُلْتُ فَأَىُّ الصَّدَقَةِ أَفْضَلُ قَالَ سَقْىُ الْمَاءِ

"O Messenger of Allah, my mother has died; can I give charity on her behalf?" He said: "Yes." He said: "What kind of charity is best?" He said: "Providing drinking water." And that is the drinking-fountain of Sa'd in Al-Madinah.

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ نِعْمَ الْإِدَامُ الْخَلُّ

This tradition has also been transmitted by Sa'd (b. Abi Waqqas) from the Prophet ﷺ in a similar manner through a different chain of narrators. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 1470)

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Verily, usury is only in women."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِنَّمَا الرِّبَا فِي النَّسَاءِ

"O Messenger of Allah, my mother has died; can I give charity on her behalf?" He said: "Yes." He said: "What kind of charity is best?" He said: "Providing drinking water." And that is the drinking-fountain of Sa'd in Al-Madinah. (Using translation from Nasāʾī 3666)

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "What a noble man is Usayd ibn Hudayr."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «نِعْمَ الرَّجُلُ أُسَيْدُ بْنُ حُضَيْرٍ»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Indeed, the greatest charity a person can give is to support his parents."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «إِنَّ عَمَّ الرَّجُلِ صِنْوُ أَبِيهِ»

Usama b. Zaid reported Allah's Apostle ﷺ as saying: There can be an element of interest in credit (when the payment is not equal). (Using translation from Muslim 1596b)

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «إِنَّمَا الرِّبَا فِي النَّسِيئَةِ»

[AI] I said, O Messenger of Allah, Um Saad has passed away and did not make any will. Should I give charity on her behalf? He said, "Yes."

قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّ أُمَّ سَعْدٍ تُوُفِّيَتْ وَلَمْ تُوصِ أَفَأَتَصَدَّقُ عَنْهَا؟ قَالَ «نَعَمْ»

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «نِعْمَ الْإِدَامُ الْخَلُّ»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The mark of a man's righteousness is honoring his father."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «إِنَّ عَمَّ الرَّجُلِ صِنْوُ أَبِيهِ»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Indeed, the greatest act of kindness towards a man is honoring his parents."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «إِنَّ عَمَّ الرَّجُلِ صِنْوُ أَبِيهِ»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Verily, in prayer there is occupation."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «إِنَّ فِي الصَّلَاةِ شُغْلًا»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "One's uncle is like his father."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «عَمُّ الرَّجُلِ صِنْوُ أَبِيهِ»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Treat my uncle Abbas with goodness, for he is the remnant of my fathers, and a man's uncle is like his second father."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «اسْتَوْصُوا بِعَمِّي الْعَبَّاسِ خَيْرًا فَإِنَّهُ بَقِيَّةُ آبَائِي وَإِنَّمَا عَمُّ الرَّجُلِ صِنْوُ أَبِيهِ»

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «نِعْمَ الْإِدَامُ الْخَلُّ»

[AI] "O Messenger of Allah, my mother has passed away and did not leave any instructions. Would it benefit her if I give charity on her behalf?" He said, "Yes."

يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ تُوُفِّيَتْ أُمِّي وَلَمْ تُوصِ أَفَيَنْفَعُهَا أَنْ أَتَصَدَّقَ عَنْهَا؟ قَالَ «نَعَمْ»

[AI] The Prophet Muhammad, ﷺ , said, "There is no bequest for an heir."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «لَا وَصِيَّةَ لِوَارِثٍ»

"My mother died and did not leave a will; shall I give charity on her behalf?" He said: "Yes." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 3654)

أَنَّ سَعْدًا سَأَلَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ إِنَّ أُمِّي مَاتَتْ وَلَمْ تُوصِ أَفَأَتَصَدَّقُ عَنْهَا؟ قَالَ «نَعَمْ»

"احفظونى في عمَّى عباسٍ، فإن عمَّ الرجلِ صنْوُ أبيه".

"أما علمتَ أنَّ عمَّ الرَّجُلِ صِنْوُ أبيهِ" .

"إِنَّ عمَّ الرَّجُلِ صِنْوُ أَبِيه ".

"العبّاسُ عمُّ رسُولِ الله، وإنَّ عَمَّ الرَّجُل صِنْوُ أَبيه ".

"عَمُّ الرَّجُل صِنوُ أبِيه".

"مَا بَالُ رِجَالٍ يُؤذُونِى فِي الْعَبَّاسِ، وَإِن عَمَّ الرَّجُلِ صِنْوُ أَبِيهِ".

"لا تُؤْذُونِ في الْعَبَّاسِ، فَإِنّ عَمَّ الرَّجُلِ صِنْوُ أَبِيِه".

"عَن ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ: جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ: أَعْتِقُ عَنْ أُمِّي وَقَدْ مَاتَتْ؟ قَالَ: نَعَمْ".

"عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ: قَالَ رَجُلٌ لِرَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ : إِنَّ أَبِي مَاتَ أَفَأَعْتِقُ عَنْهُ؟ قَالَ: نَعَمْ".

"عَنْ عَطَاء بْنِ أَبِى رَبَاحٍ قَالَ: قَالَ رَجُلٌ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ! أعتق عَنْ أمى وَقَدْ مَاتَتْ؟ قَالَ: نَعَمْ".
