٣١۔ مُسْنَدُ النِّسَاءِ ص ٢

I started with the names of the daughters and wives of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ from the narrations of the women that have reached us.

I listed their names in alphabetical order. I began with the daughters of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and his wives so that no one would precede them. Fatimah, the youngest daughter of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and the one he loved the most, was listed first out of love for the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and her, as these are the daughters of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ .

مَا انْتَهَى إِلَيْنَا مِنْ مُسْنَدِ النِّسَاءِ اللَّاتِي رَوَيْنَ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ خَرَّجْتُ أَسْمَاءَهُنَّ عَلَى حُرُوفِ الْمُعْجَمِ

وَبَدَأْتُ بِبَنَاتِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ وَأَزْوَاجِهِ لِئَلَّا يَتَقَدَّمَهُنَّ غَيْرُهُنَّ وَكَانَتْ فَاطِمَةُ أَصْغَرَ بَنَاتِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ وَأَحَبَّهُنَّ إِلَيْهِ فَبَدَأْتُ بِهَا لِحُبِّ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ إِيَّاهَا بَنَاتُ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ

[Machine] "That Zainab, the daughter of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , sought protection for Abu Al-Aas, so the Prophet ﷺ granted her protection. And indeed, Umm Hani bint Abi Talib sought protection for her brother Aqeel, so the Prophet ﷺ granted her protection as well."  

الطبراني:١٩٣٤٢حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الزِّنْبَاعِ رَوْحُ بْنُ الْفَرَجِ وأَحْمَدُ بْنُ رِشْدِينَ الْمِصْرِيَّانِ قَالَا ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ بُكَيْرٍ حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ السَّمْحِ عَنْ عَبَّادِ بْنِ كَثِيرٍ عَنْ عُقَيْلِ بْنِ خَالِدٍ عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ

«أَنَّ زَيْنَبَ بِنْتَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ أَجَارَتْ أَبَا الْعَاصِ فَأَجَازَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ جِوَارَهَا وَإِنَّ أُمَّ هَانِئِ بِنْتَ أَبِي طَالِبٍ أَجَارَتْ أَخَاهَا عَقِيلًا فَأَجَازَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ جِوَارَهَا»

[Machine] That Zainab migrated to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and her husband was a disbeliever, so the Muslims captured Abu Al-As ibn Al-Rabi'. Zainab said, "I have already ransomed Abu Al-As." So the Prophet ﷺ allowed her to keep her spouse's company and said, "Indeed, he helps the Muslims, even if he is one of the least among them."

أَنَّ زَيْنَبَ هَاجَرَتْ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ وَزَوْجُهَا كَافِرٌ فَأَسَرَ الْمُسْلِمُونَ أَبَا الْعَاصِ بْنَ الرَّبِيعِ فَقَالَتْ زَيْنَبُ إِنِّي قَدْ أَجَرْتُ أَبَا الْعَاصِ فَأَجَازَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ جِوَارَهَا وَقَالَ «إِنَّهُ يُجِيرُ عَلَى الْمُسْلِمِينَ أَدْنَاهُمْ»

كَانَ فِي الْأُسَارَى يَوْمَ بَدْرٍ أَبُو الْعَاصِ بْنُ الرَّبِيعِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْعُزَّى بْنِ عَبْدِ شَمْسٍ خَتَنُ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ زَوْجُ ابْنَتِهِ زَيْنَبَ وَكَانَ أَبُو الْعَاصِ مِنْ رِجَالِ مَكَّةَ الْمَعْدُودِينَ مَالًا وَأَمَانَةً وَكَانَ لهالةَ بِنْتِ خُوَيْلِدٍ وَكَانَتْ خَدِيجَةُ خَالَتَهُ فَسَأَلَتْ خَدِيجَةُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ أَنْ يُزَوِّجَهُ زَيْنَبَ وَكَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لَا يُخَالِفُهَا وَذَلِكَ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَنْزِلَ عَلَيْهِ وَكَانَتْ تَعُدُّهُ بِمَنْزِلَةِ وَلَدِهَا فَلَمَّا أَكْرَمَ اللهُ نَبِيَّهُ بِالنُّبُوَّةِ وَآمَنَتْ بِهِ خَدِيجَةُ وَبَنَاتُهُ وَصَدَّقْنَهُ وَشَهِدْنَ أَنَّ مَا جَاءَ بِهِ هُوَ الْحَقُّ وَدِنَّ بِدِينِهِ وَثَبَتَ أَبُو الْعَاصِ عَلَى شِرْكِهِ وَكَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ قَدْ زَوَّجَ عُتْبَةَ بْنَ أَبِي لَهَبٍ إِحْدَى بِنْتَيْهِ رُقَيَّةَ أَوْ أُمَّ كُلْثُومٍ فَلَمَّا بَادَى رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ قُرَيْشًا بِأَمْرِ اللهِ وَبَادَوْهُ قَالُوا إِنَّكُمْ قَدْ فَرَّغْتُمْ مُحَمَّدًا مِنْ هَمِّهِ فَرُدُّوا عَلَيْهِ بَنَاتِهِ فَاشْغَلُوهُ بِهِنَّ فَمَشَوْا إِلَى أَبِي الْعَاصِ بْنِ الرَّبِيعِ فَقَالُوا فَارِقْ صَاحِبَتَكَ وَنَحْنُ نُزَوِّجُكَ أَيَّ امْرَأَةٍ شِئْتَ فَقَالَ لَا هَا اللهِ إِذًا لَا أُفَارِقُ صَاحِبَتِي وَمَا أُحِبُّ أَنَّ لِي بِامْرَأَتِي امْرَأَةً مِنْ قُرَيْشٍ فَكَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يُثْنِي عَلَيْهِ فِي صِهْرِهِ خَيْرًا فِيمَا بَلَغَنِي فَمَشَوْا إِلَى الْفَاسِقِ عُتْبَةَ بْنِ أَبِي لَهَبٍ فَقَالُوا طَلِّقِ امْرَأَتَكَ بِنْتَ مُحَمَّدٍ وَنَحْنُ نُنْكِحُكَ أَيَّ امْرَأَةٍ شِئْتَ مِنْ قُرَيْشٍ فَقَالَ إِنْ زَوَّجْتُمُونِي بِنْتَ أَبَانَ بْنِ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْعَاصِ أَوْ بِنْتَ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْعَاصِ فَارَقْتُهَا فَزَوَّجُوهُ بِنْتَ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْعَاصِ فَفَارَقَهَا وَلَمْ يَكُنْ عَدُوُّ اللهِ دَخَلَ بِهَا فَأَخْرَجَهَا اللهُ مِنْ يَدِهِ كَرَامَةً لَهَا وَهَوَانًا لَهُ وَخَلَفَ عُثْمَانُ بْنُ عَفَّانَ عَلَيْهَا بَعْدَهُ وَكَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لَا يُحِلُّ بِمَكَّةَ وَلَا يُحَرِّمُ مَغْلُوبًا عَلَى أَمْرِهِ وَكَانَ الْإِسْلَامُ قَدْ فَرَّقَ بَيْنَ زَيْنَبَ بِنْتِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ حِينَ أَسْلَمَتْ وَبَيْنَ أَبِي الْعَاصِ بْنِ الرَّبِيعِ إِلَّا أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ كَانَ لَا يَقْدِرُ عَلَى أَنْ يُفِرِّقَ بَيْنَهُمَا فَأَقَامَتْ مَعَهُ عَلَى إِسْلَامِهَا وَهُوَ عَلَى شِرْكِهِ حَتَّى هَاجَرَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِلَى الْمَدِينَةِ وَهِيَ مُقِيمَةٌ مَعَهُ بِمَكَّةَ فَلَمَّا سَارَتْ قُرَيْشٌ إِلَى بَدْرٍ سَارَ فِيهِمْ أَبُو الْعَاصِ بْنُ الرَّبِيعِ فَأُصِيبَ فِي الْأُسَارَى يَوْمَ بَدْرٍ وَكَانَ بِالْمَدِينَةِ عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ ابْنُ إِسْحَاقَ فَحَدَّثَنِي يَحْيَى بْنُ عَبَّادِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَبَّادِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَتْ لَمَّا بَعَثَ أَهْلُ مَكَّةَ فِي فِدَاءِ أُسَرائِهِمْ بَعَثَتْ زَيْنَبُ بِنْتُ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فِي فِدَاءِ أَبِي الْعَاصِ وَبَعَثَتْ فِيهِ بِقِلَادَةٍ لَهَا كَانَتْ خَدِيجَةُ قَدْ أَدْخَلَتْهَا فِيهَا عَلَى أَبِي الْعَاصِ حِينَ بَنَى عَلَيْهَا فَلَمَّا رَآهَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ رَقَّ لَهَا رِقَّةً شَدِيدَةً فَقَالَ «إِنْ رَأَيْتُمْ أَنْ تُطْلِقُوا لَهَا أَسِيرَهَا وَتَرُدُّوا عَلَيْهَا مَالَهَا فَافْعَلُوا» فَقَالُوا نَعَمْ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ فَأَطْلَقُوهُ وَرَدُّوا عَلَيْهَا الَّذِي لَهَا قَالَ وَكَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ قَدْ أَخَذَ عَلَيْهِ وَوَعَدَهُ ذَلِكَ أَنْ يُخَلِّيَ سَبِيلَ زَيْنَبَ إِلَيْهِ إِذْ كَانَ فِيمَا شَرَطَ عَلَيْهِ فِي إِطْلَاقِهِ وَلَمْ يَظْهَرْ ذَلِكَ مِنْهُ وَلَا مِنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَيَعْلَمُ إِلَّا إِنَّهُ لَمَّا خَرَجَ أَبُو الْعَاصِ إِلَى مَكَّةَ وَخَلَا سَبِيلُهُ بَعَثَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ زَيْدَ بْنَ حَارِثَةَ وَرَجُلًا مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ مَكَانَهُ وَقَالَ كُونَا بِبَطْحِ يَأْجِجَ حَتَّى تَمُرَّ بِكُمَا زَيْنَبُ فَتَصْحَبَانِهَا حَتَّى تَأْتِيَانِي بِهَا فَخَرَجَا مَكَانَهُمَا وَذَلِكَ بَعْدَ بَدْرٍ بِشَهْرٍ أَوْ شَيْعِهِ فَلَمَّا قَدِمَ أَبُو الْعَاصِ مَكَّةَ أَمَرَهَا بِاللُّحُوقِ بِأَبِيهَا فَخَرَجَتْ جَهْرَةً قَالَ ابْنُ إِسْحَاقَ قَالَ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ حَزْمٍ حُدِّثْتُ عَنْ زَيْنَبَ أَنَّهَا قَالَتْ بَيْنَمَا أَنَا أَتَجَهَّزُ بِمَكَّةَ لِلُّحُوقِ بِأَبِي لَقِيَتْنِي هِنْدُ بِنْتُ عُتْبَةَ فَقَالَتْ يَا ابْنَةَ عَمِّي إِنْ كَانَ لَكِ حَاجَةٌ بِمَتَاعٍ مِمَّا يُرْفَقُ بِكِ فِي سَفَرِكِ أَوْ مَالٍ تَبْلُغِينَ بِهِ إِلَى أَبِيكِ فَإِنَّ عِنْدِي حَاجَتَكِ فَلَا تَضْطَنِي مِنِّي فَإِنَّهُ لَا يَدْخُلُ بَيْنَ النِّسَاءِ مَا يَدْخُلُ بَيْنَ الرِّجَالِ قَالَتْ وَوَاللهِ مَا أُرَاهَا قَالَتْ ذَلِكَ إِلَّا لِتَفْعَلَ وَلَكِنْ خِفْتُهَا فَأَنْكَرْتُ أَنْ أَكُونَ أُرِيدُ ذَلِكَ فَتَجَهَّزْتُ فَلَمَّا فَرَغْتُ مِنْ جَهَازِي قَدَّمَ لِي حَمْوِي كِنَانَةُ بْنُ الرَّبِيعِ أَخُو زَوْجِي بَعِيرًا فَرَكِبْتُهُ وَأَخَذَ قَوْسَهُ وَكِنَانَتَهُ ثُمَّ خَرَجَ بِهَا نَهَارًا يَقُودُ بِهَا وَهِيَ فِي هَوْدَجِهَا وَتَحَدَّثَتْ بِذَلِكَ رِجَالُ قُرَيْشٍ فَخَرَجُوا فِي طَلَبِهَا حَتَّى أَدْرَكُوهَا بِذِي طُوًى وَكَانَ أَوَّلَ مَنْ سَبَقَ إِلَيْهَا هَبَّارُ بْنُ الْأَسْوَدِ بْنِ الْمُطَّلِبِ بْنِ أَسَدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْعُزَّى بْنِ قُصَيٍّ وَنَافِعُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْقَيْسِ الزُّهْرِيِّ بِقِينَةِ بَنِي أَبِي عُبَيْدَةَ بْنِ عُتْبَةَ بْنِ نَافِعٍ الَّذِي بِإِفْرِيقِيَّةَ فَرَوَّعَهَا هَبَّارُ بِالرُّمْحِ وَهِيَ فِي هَوْدَجِهَا وَكَانَتِ الْمَرْأَةُ حَامِلًا فِيمَا يَزْعُمُونَ فَلَمَّا رِيعَتْ أَلْقَتْ مَا فِي بَطْنِهَا فَنَزَلَ حَمْوُهَا وَنَثَرَ كِنَانَتَهُ فَقَالَ وَاللهِ لَا يَدْنُو مِنِّي رَجُلٌ إِلَّا وَضَعْتُ فِيهِ سَهْمًا فَتَكَرْكَرَ النَّاسُ عَنْهُ وَأَتَى أَبُو سُفْيَانَ فِي جُلَّةِ قُرَيْشٍ فَقَالَ أَيُّهَا الرَّجُلُ كَفَّ عَنَّا نَبْلَكَ حَتَّى نُكَلِّمَكَ فَكَفَّ وَأَقْبَلَ أَبُو سُفْيَانَ فَأَقْبَلَ عَلَيْهِ فَقَالَ إِنَّكَ لَمْ تُصِبْ خَرَجْتَ بِامْرَأَةٍ عَلَى رُءُوسِ النَّاسِ عَلَانِيَةً وَقَدْ عَرَفْتَ مُصِيبَتَنَا وَنَكْبَتَنَا وَمَا قَدْ دَخَلَ عَلَيْنَا مِنْ مُحَمَّدٍ فَيَظُنُّ النَّاسُ إِذَا خَرَجَتْ إِلَيْهِ ابْنَتُهُ عَلَانِيَةً مِنْ ظَهْرَانَيْنَا أَنَّ ذَلِكَ مِنْ ذُلٍّ أَصَابَنَا عَنْ مُصِيبَتِنَا الَّتِي كَانَتْ وَإِنَّ ذَلِكَ مِنَّا ضِعْفٌ وَوَهَنٌ وَأَنَّهُ لَعَمْرِي مَا لَنَا فِي حَبِسِهَا عَنْ أَبِيهَا حَاجَةٌ وَلَكِنْ أَرْجِعِ الْمَرْأَةَ حَتَّى إِذَا هَدَأَ الصَّوْتُ وَتَحَدَّثَ النَّاسُ أَنَا قَدْ رَدَدْنَاهَا فَسُلَّهَا سِرًّا وَأَلْحِقْهَا بِأَبِيهَا قَالَ فَفَعَلَ وَأَقَامَتْ لَيَالِي حَتَّى إِذَا هَدَأَ النَّاسُ خَرَجَ بِهَا لَيْلًا حَتَّى أَسْلَمَهَا إِلَى زَيْدِ بنِ حَارِثَةَ وَصَاحِبِهِ فَقَدِمَا بِهَا عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ وَأَقَامَ أَبُو الْعَاصِ بِمَكَّةَ وَكَانَتْ زَيْنَبُ عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ قَدْ فَرَّقَ الْإِسْلَامُ بَيْنَهُمَا حَتَّى إِذَا كَانَتْ قُبَيلَ الْفَتْحِ خَرَجَ أَبُو الْعَاصِ تَاجِرًا إِلَى الشَّامِ وَكَانَ رَجُلًا مَأْمُونًا بِمَالٍ لَهُ وَأَمْوَالٍ لِرِجَالٍ مِنْ قُرَيْشٍ أَبْضَعُوهَا مَعَهُ فَلَمَّا فَرَغَ مِنْ تِجَارَتِهِ أَقْبَلَ قَافِلًا فَلَقِيَتْهُ سَرِيَّةُ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَأَصَابُوا مَا مَعَهُ وَأَعْجَزَهُمْ هَارِبًا فَلَمَّا قَدِمَتِ السَّرِيَّةُ بِمَا أَصَابُوا مِنْ مَالِهِ أَقْبَلَ أَبُو الْعَاصِ بْنِ الرَّبِيعِ تَحْتَ اللَّيْلِ حَتَّى دَخَلَ عَلَى زَيْنَبَ بِنْتِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَاسْتَجَارَ بِهَا فَأَجَارَتْهُ وَجَاءَ فِي طَلَبِ مَالِهِ فَلَمَّا خَرَجَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِلَى الصُّبْحِ كَمَا حَدَّثَنِي يَزِيدُ بْنُ رُومَانَ فَكَبَّرَ وَكَبَّرَ النَّاسُ خَرَجَتْ زَيْنَبُ مِنْ صُفَّةِ النِّسَاءِ وَقَالَتْ أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ إِنِّي أَجَرْتُ أَبَا الْعَاصِ بْنَ الرَّبِيعِ فَلَمَّا سَلَّمَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مِنَ الصَّلَاةِ أَقْبَلَ عَلَى النَّاسِ فَقَالَ «أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ أَسَمِعْتُمْ» قَالُوا نَعَمْ قَالَ «أَمَا وَالَّذِي نَفْسُ مُحَمَّدٍ بِيَدِهِ مَا عَمِلْتُ بِشَيْءٍ كَانَ حَتَّى سَمِعْتُهُ وَإِنَّهُ لَيُجِيرُ عَلَى الْمُسْلِمِينَ أَدْنَاهُمْ» ثُمَّ انْصَرَفَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ حَتَّى دَخَلَ عَلَى ابْنَتِهِ فَقَالَ «يَا بُنَيَّةُ أَكْرِمِي مَثْوَاهُ وَلَا يَخْلُصْ إِلَيْكِ فَإِنَّكِ لَا تَحَلِّينَ لَهُ» قَالَ ابْنُ إِسْحَاقَ وَحَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ بَعَثَ إِلَى السَّرِيَّةِ الَّذِينَ أَصَابُوا مَالَ أَبِي الْعَاصِ بْنِ الرَّبِيعِ أَنَّ هَذَا الرَّجُلَ مِنَّا حَيْثُ قَدْ عَلِمْتُمْ وَقَدْ أَصَبْتُمْ لَهُ مَالًا فَإِنْ تُحْسِنُوا وَتَرُدُّوا عَلَيْهِ الَّذِي لَهُ فَإِنَّا نُحِبُّ ذَلِكَ وَإِنْ أَبَيْتُمْ فَهُوَ فَيْءُ اللهِ الَّذِي أَفَاءَ عَلَيْكُمْ فَأَنْتُمُ أَحَقُّ بِهِ قَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ بَلْ نَرُدَّهُ فَرَدُّوا عَلَيْهِ مَالَهُ حَتَّى إِنَّ الرَّجُلَ لَيَأْتِي بِالْحَبْلِ وَيَأْتِي الرَّجُلُ بِالشَّنَّةِ وَبِالْإِدْوَاةِ حَتَّى إِنَّ أَحَدَهُمْ لَيَأْتِي بِالشَّظَاظِ حَتَّى إِذَا رَدُّوا عَلَيْهِ مَالَهُ بِأَسْرِهِ لَا يَفْقِدُ مِنْهُ شَيْئًا احْتَمَلَ إِلَى مَكَّةَ فَرَدَّ إِلَى كُلِّ ذِي مَالٍ مِنْ قُرَيْشٍ مَالَهُ مِمَّنْ كَانَ أَبْضَعَ مَعَهُ ثُمَّ قَالَ يَا مَعْشَرَ قُرَيْشٍ هَلْ بَقِيَ لِأَحَدٍ مِنْكُمْ عِنْدِي مَالٌ لَمْ يَأْخُذْهُ؟ قَالُوا لَا وَجَزَاكَ اللهُ خَيْرًا فَقَدْ وَجَدْنَاكَ لَعَفِيفًا كَرِيمًا قَالَ فَإِنِّي أَشْهَدُ أَنَّ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ وَأَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا عَبْدُهُ وَرَسُولُهُ وَاللهِ مَا مَنَعَنِي مِنَ الْإِسْلَامِ عِنْدَهُ إِلَّا تَخَوُّفًا أَنْ تَظُنُّوا أَنِّي إِنَّمَا أَرَدْتُ أَنْ آكُلَ أَمْوَالَكُمْ فَأَمَّا إِذَا أَدَّاهَا اللهُ إِلَيْكُمْ وَفَرَغْتُ مِنْهَا أَسْلَمْتُ وَخَرَجَ حَتَّى قَدِمَ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ

[Machine] Narrated Aisha, the wife of the Prophet ﷺ , that when the Prophet ﷺ arrived in Medina, his daughter Zainab, who was still in Mecca, left Mecca with Kinanah or Ibn Kinanah. They left in her footsteps, but Hubbar ibn al-Aswad caught up with her and kept stabbing her camel with his spear until he killed her and she miscarried and bled. The Banu Hashim and the Banu Umayyah argued over who had the right to her body. She was under the custody of their son, Abu Al-As. She was with Hind bint Utbah bin Rabi'ah, and Hind said to her, "This is because of your father." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then said to Zaid bin Harithah, "Will you not go and bring Zainab?" He said, "Yes, O Messenger of Allah." The Prophet ﷺ then said, "Take my ring and give it to her." Zaid went and continued on the way until he met a shepherd, and he asked him, "Whose flock is this?" He replied, "Abu Al-As." He asked, "And whose sheep is this?" He replied, "They belong to Zainab bint Muhammad." The shepherd then went with him for a while and asked, "Do you have anything I can give to her that you don't want anyone else to know about?" Zaid said, "Yes," and gave him the ring. The shepherd then entered his flock and gave her the ring. She asked him, "Who gave you this?" He replied, "A man." She asked, "Where did you leave him?" He replied, "In such and such a place." She remained silent until nightfall and then went to him. When she came to him, he said to her, "Get on before me on my camel." She said, "No, but you get on before me." So he got on before her and she got on behind him until they came. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was saying, "She is the best of my daughters to me, but she has been affected by what has happened to me." Ali bin Husain (Zain al-Abidin) then received the news and he went to Uruwah and said, "What news have you received about me that you speak ill of Fatimah?" Uruwah said, "By Allah, I do not like to have anything between the East and the West, and I still give Fatimah her right. But after that, I will never speak ill of her."

عَنْ عَائِشَةَ زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ لَمَّا قَدِمَ الْمَدِينَةَ خَرَجَتِ ابْنَتُهُ زَيْنَبُ مِنْ مَكَّةَ مَعَ كِنَانَةَ أَوِ ابْنِ كِنَانَةَ فَخَرَجُوا فِي أَثَرِهَا فَأَدْرَكَهَا هَبَّارُ بْنُ الْأَسْوَدِ فَلَمْ يَزَلْ يَطْعُنُ بَعِيرَهَا بِرُمْحِهِ حَتَّى صَرَعَهَا وَأَلْقَتْ مَا فِي بَطْنِهَا وَهُرِيقَتْ دَمًا فَتَحَمَّلَتْ وَاشْتَجَرَ فِيهَا بَنُو هَاشِمٍ وَبَنُو أُمَيَّةَ فَقَالَتْ بَنُو أُمَيَّةَ نَحْنُ أَحَقُّ بِهَا وَكَانَتْ تَحْتَ ابْنِهِمْ أَبِي الْعَاصِ وَكَانَتْ عِنْدَ هِنْدَ بِنْتِ عُتْبَةَ بْنِ رَبِيعَةَ وَكَانَتْ تَقُولُ لَهَا هِنْدٌ هَذَا فِي سَبَبِ أَبِيكِ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لِزَيْدِ بْنِ حَارِثَةَ «أَلَا تَنْطَلِقُ فَتَجِيءَ بِزَيْنَبَ» فَقَالَ بَلَى يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ قَالَ «فَخُذْ خَاتَمِي فَأَعْطِهَا إِيَّاهُ» فَانْطَلَقَ زَيْدُ فَلَمْ يَزَلْ يَتَلَطَّفْ فلَقِيَ رَاعِيًا فَقَالَ لِمَنْ تَرْعَى؟ فَقَالَ لِأَبِي الْعَاصِ فَقَالَ لِمَنْ هَذِهِ الْغَنَمُ فَقَالَ لِزَيْنَبَ بِنْتِ مُحَمَّدٍ فَسَارَ مَعَهُ شَيْئًا ثُمَّ قَالَ هَلْ لَكَ فِي أَنْ أُعْطِيَكَ شَيْئًا تُعْطِيهَا إِيَّاهُ وَلَا تَذْكُرُهُ لِأَحَدٍ؟ قَالَ نَعَمْ فَأَعْطَاهُ الْخَاتَمَ وَانْطَلَقَ الرَّاعِي فَأَدْخَلَ غَنَمَهُ وَأَعْطَاهَا الْخَاتَمَ فَعَرَفَتْهُ فقَالَتْ مَنْ أَعْطَاكَ هَذَا قَالَ رَجُلٌ قَالَتْ فَأَيْنَ تَرَكْتَهُ؟ قَالَ بِمَكَانِ كَذَا وَكَذَا فَسَكَتَتْ حَتَّى إِذَا كَانَ اللَّيْلُ خَرَجَتْ إِلَيْهِ فَلَمَّا جَاءَتْهُ قَالَ لَهَا ارْكَبِي بَيْنَ يَدَيَّ عَلَى بَعِيرِهِ قَالَتْ لَا وَلَكِنِ ارْكَبْ أَنْتَ بَيْنَ يَدَيَّ فَرَكِبَ وَرَكِبَتْ وَرَاءَهُ حَتَّى أَتَتْ فَكَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «هِيَ خَيْرُ بَنَاتِي أُصِيبَتْ فِيَّ» فَبَلَغَ ذَلِكَ عَلِيَّ بْنَ حُسَيْنٍ فَانْطَلَقَ إِلَى عُرْوَةَ فَقَالَ مَا حَدِيثٌ بَلَغَنِي عَنْكَ أَنَّكَ تُحَدِّثُهُ تَنْقُصُ فِيهِ حَقَّ فَاطِمَةَ؟ فَقَالَ عُرْوَةُ وَاللهِ مَا أُحِبُّ أَنَّ لِي مَا بَيْنَ الْمَشْرِقِ وَالْمَغْرِبِ وَإِنِّي أَنْتَقِصُ لِفَاطِمَةَ حَقًّا هُوَ لَهَا وَأَمَّا بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ إِنِّي لَا أُحَدِّثُ بِهِ أَبَدًا

[Machine] "These people gathered around a pagan idol. Then suddenly, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ appeared and called the people to believe in the oneness of Allah. The day broke and people started to disperse from around him. Then a woman appeared, carrying a cup and a handkerchief. The Prophet ﷺ took it from her, drank from it, performed ablution, and then raised his head towards her and said, 'O my daughter, cover your neck and do not fear any harm for your father.' I asked, 'Who is she?' They said, 'She is Zainab, the daughter of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.'"

هَؤُلَاءِ قَوْمٌ اجْتَمَعُوا عَلَى صَابِئٍ لَهُمْ قَالَ فَأَشْرَفْتُ فَإِذَا بِرَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ يَدْعُو النَّاسَ إِلَى تَوْحِيدِ اللهِ وَالْإِيمَانِ بِهِ حَتَّى ارْتَفَعَ النَّهَارُ وَتَصَدَّعَ عَنْهُ النَّاسُ فَإِذَا امْرَأَةٌ قَدْ بَدَا نَحْرُهَا تَحْمِلُ قَدَحًا وَمِنْدِيلًا فَتَنَاوَلَهُ مِنْهَا فَشَرِبَ وَتَوَضَّأَ ثُمَّ رَفَعَ رَأْسَهُ إِلَيْهَا فَقَالَ «يَا بُنَيَّةُ خَمِّرِي عَلَيْكِ نَحْرَكِ وَلَا تَخَافِي عَلَى أَبِيكِ غَلَبَةً وَلَا ذُلًّا» فَقُلْتُ مَنْ هَذِهِ؟ قَالُوا هَذِهِ زَيْنَبُ بِنْتُ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ

[Machine] "A man approached Zainab, the daughter of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , and two men from the Quraysh followed him and fought him until they overpowered him. They pushed her, causing her to fall on a rock and she bled. They took her to Abu Sufyan and the women of Banu Hashim came to him and he handed her over to them. Afterwards, she migrated and she continued to experience pain until she died from that pain, and they considered her to be a martyr."  

الطبراني:١٩٣٤٧حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُعَاذٍ الْحَلَبِيُّ ثنا مُوسَى بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ ثنا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ

«أَنَّ رَجُلًا أَقْبَلَ بِزَيْنَبَ بِنْتِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَلَحِقَهُ رَجُلَانِ مِنْ قُرَيْشٍ فَقَاتَلَاهُ حَتَّى غَلَبَاهُ عَلَيْهَا فَدَفَعَاهَا فَوَقَعَتْ عَلَى صَخْرَةٍ فَأَسْقَطَتْ وَأُهْرِيقَتْ دَمًا فَذَهَبُوا بِهَا إِلَى أَبِي سُفْيَانَ فَجَاءَتْهُ نِسَاءُ بَنِي هَاشِمٍ فَدَفَعَهَا إِلَيْهِنَّ ثُمَّ جَاءَتْ بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ مُهَاجِرَةً فَلَمْ تَزَلْ وَجِعَةً حَتَّى مَاتَتْ مِنْ ذَلِكَ الْوَجَعِ فَكَانُوا يَرَوْنَ أَنَّهَا شَهِيدَةٌ»

[Machine] Zainab, the daughter of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , passed away, so we went out with him and saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ deeply saddened. We said to each other that we would not speak to him until we reached the grave. But he did not finish burying her, so the Messenger of Allah ﷺ sat down, and we sat around him. He sighed for a while and began to look up at the sky. Then he finished with the grave and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ descended into it. I saw him becoming sadder. Then, he finished and came out, and I saw him with a different expression on his face, and he smiled. We said, "O Messenger of Allah, we saw you deeply saddened, and we could not speak to you, then we saw you with a different expression. What caused that?" He said, "I remembered the narrowness and darkness of the grave and the weakness of Zainab, and that caused me distress. So, I invoked Allah to lighten her burden, and indeed He did. And there was a sound heard in the chest of every creature except jinn and humans."

تُوُفِّيَتْ زَيْنَبُ بِنْتُ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَخَرَجْنَا مَعَهُ فَرَأَيْنَا رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ مُهْتَمًّا شَدِيدَ الْحُزْنِ فَقُلْنَا لَا نُكَلِّمَهُ حَتَّى انْتَهَيْنَا إِلَى الْقَبْرِ فَإِذَا هُوَ لَمْ يَفْرُغْ مِنْ لَحْدِهِ فَقَعَدَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَقَعَدْنَا حَوْلَهُ فَحَدَّثَ نَفْسَهُ هُنَيْهَةً وَجَعَلَ يَنْظُرُ إِلَى السَّمَاءِ ثُمَّ فَرَغَ مِنَ الْقَبْرِ فَنَزَلَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فِيهِ فَرَأَيْتُهُ يَزْدَادُ حُزْنًا ثُمَّ إِنَّهُ فَرَغَ فَخَرَجَ فَرَأَيْتُهُ سُرَّ عَنْهُ فَتَبَسَّمَ فَقُلْنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ رَأَيْنَاكَ مُهْتَمًّا حَزِينًا لَمْ نَسْتَطِعْ أَنْ نُكَلِّمَكَ ثُمَّ رَأَيْنَاكَ سُرَّ عَنْكَ فَمِمَّ ذَاكَ؟ قَالَ «كُنْتُ أَذْكُرُ ضِيقَ الْقَبْرِ وَغَمَّهُ وَضَعْفَ زَيْنَبَ فَكَانَ ذَلِكَ شَقَّ عَلَيَّ فَدَعَوْتُ اللهَ أَنْ يُخَفِّفَ عَنْهَا فَفَعَلَ وَلَقَدْ ضُغِطَتْ ضَغْطَةً سَمِعَهَا مَنْ بَيْنَ الْخَافِقَيْنِ إِلَّا الْجِنَّ وَالْإِنْسَ»

[Machine] When Zainab bint Rasulullah ﷺ died, the Prophet ﷺ appeared to be sad, and then he hidden his sadness. So we said, "O Messenger of Allah, we saw you sad and then you hid it." He said, "I saw Zainab in her weakness, and it was difficult for her and for me. She had been pressed with a pressure that reached her heart."  

الطبراني:١٩٣٤٩حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَضْرَمِيُّ ثنا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ثنا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ الرَّازِيُّ عَنْ زَكَرِيَّا بْنِ سَلَّامٍ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ مَسْرُوقٍ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ قَالَ

لَمَّا مَاتَتْ زَيْنَبُ بِنْتُ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ ظَهَرَ مِنَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ حُزْنٌ ثُمَّ سُرِّيَ عَنْهُ فَقُلْنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ رَأَيْنَاكَ حَزِينًا ثُمَّ سُرِّي عَنْكَ فَقَالَ «رَأَيْتُ زَيْنَبَ وَضَعْفَهَا وَلَقَدْ هَوَّنَ عَلَيْهَا وَعَلَيَّ ذَلِكَ وَلَقَدْ ضُغِطَتْ ضَغْطَةً بَلَغَتِ الْخَافِقَيْنِ»

[Machine] Ruqayyah was with Utbah ibn Abu Lahab. When Allah revealed {May the hands of Abu Lahab be ruined}, the Prophet ﷺ asked Utbah to divorce Ruqayyah, and Ruqayyah asked him about that. So he divorced her, and Uthman ibn Affan married Ruqayyah and she passed away while she was with him.  

الطبراني:١٩٣٥٠حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ أَعْيَنَ الْبَغْدَادِيُّ ثنا أَبُو الْأَشْعَثِ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ الْمِقْدَادِ ثنا زُهَيْرُ بْنُ الْعَلَاءِ الْعَبْسِيُّ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي عَرُوبَةَ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ بْنِ دِعَامَةَ قَالَ

كَانَتْ رُقْيَةُ عِنْدَ عُتْبَةَ بْنِ أَبِي لَهَبٍ فَلَمَّا أَنْزَلَ اللهُ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى {تَبَّتْ يَدَا أَبِي لَهَبٍ} سَأَلَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ عُتْبَةَ طَلَاقَ رُقْيَةَ وَسَأَلَتْهُ رُقْيَةُ ذَلِكَ فَطَلَّقَهَا فَتَزَوَّجَ عُثْمَانُ بْنُ عَفَّانَ ؓ رُقْيَةَ وَتُوُفِّيَتْ عِنْدَهُ

[Machine] And Ruqayyah, the daughter of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, was with Utbah ibn Abi Lahab, but he divorced her. Then Uthman ibn Affan married Ruqayyah in Makkah and she migrated with him to the land of Ethiopia. She gave birth to Abdullah for him, who was called "Ibn Uthman". She also accompanied him to Madinah and was left behind during the Battle of Badr with the permission of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ struck for him using two arrows of the people of Badr. He said, "And your reward, O Messenger of Allah?" He replied, "And your reward."  

الطبراني:١٩٣٥١حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ ثنا الزُّبَيْرُ بْنُ بَكَّارٍ قَالَ

وَكَانَتْ رُقْيَةُ بِنْتُ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ عِنْدَ عُتْبَةَ بْنِ أَبِي لَهَبٍ فَفَارَقَهَا فَتَزَوَّجَ عُثْمَانُ بْنُ عَفَّانَ رُقْيَةَ بِمَكَّةَ وَهَاجَرَتْ مَعَهُ إِلَى أَرْضِ الْحَبَشَةِ فَوَلَدَتْ لَهُ عَبْدَ اللهِ بِهِ كَانَ يُكَنَّى وَقَدِمَتْ مَعَهُ الْمَدِينَةَ وَتَخَلَّفَ عَنْ بَدْرٍ عَلَيْهَا بِإِذْنِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ وَضَرَبَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مَعَ سُهْمَانِ أَهْلِ بَدْرٍ قَالَ وَأَجْرِي يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ قَالَ «وَأَجْرُكَ»

[Machine] Umm Kulthum, the daughter of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , married Utaybah ibn Abi Lahab but he did not consummate the marriage with her until the Prophet ﷺ was sent as a Messenger. Ruqayyah, the daughter of Utbah ibn Abi Lahab, was with her brother Utbah when Allah revealed the verse {Perish the hands of Abu Lahab}. Abu Lahab said to his sons Utbah and Utbah, "My head is better than both of your heads if you do not divorce the daughter of Muhammad." Their mother, the daughter of Harb ibn Umayyah and the carrier of firewood, said to them, "Divorce them, my sons, for they have loved him." So they divorced them. When Umm Kulthum's husband Utaybah divorced her, he came to the Prophet ﷺ after parting from Umm Kulthum and said, "I disbelieve in your religion and I have left your daughter. You do not love me and I do not love you." Then he attacked the Prophet ﷺ and tore his shirt as he was leaving for Sham (Syria) for trade. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "I ask Allah to unleash His dog upon you." Then Utaybah set off with a group from Quraysh until they reached a place in Sham called Az-Zarqa' at night, and there the lion attacked them that night. Utaybah began saying, "Woe to my mother! By Allah, he eats like I do, as Muhammad cursed me." This made the son of Abu Kabshah (Zuhayr ibn al-Ala') cry while he was in Makkah and I was in Sham. The lion passed by Utaybah from among the people and grabbed his head and crushed it, killing him. Zuhayr ibn al-Ala' said, "Hisham ibn Urwah narrated to us from his father that when the lion passed by them that night, they left, slept and Utaybah was in the middle of them. The lion came and approached, taking hold of Utaybah's head and crushed it. Then Uthman ibn Affan (may Allah be pleased with him) married Umm Kulthum after Ruqayyah."

تَزَوَّجَ أُمَّ كُلْثُومٍ بِنْتَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ عُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ أَبِي لَهَبٍ فَلَمْ يَبْنِ بِهَا حَتَّى بُعِثَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ وَكَانَتْ رُقْيَةُ عِنْدَ أَخِيهِ عُتْبَةَ بْنِ أَبِي لَهَبٍ فَلَمَّا أَنْزَلَ اللهُ ﷻ {تَبَّتْ يَدَا أَبِي لَهَبٍ} قَالَ أَبُو لَهَبٍ لِابْنَيْهِ عُتَيْبَةَ وَعُتْبَةَ رَأْسِي مِنْ رَأْسِكُمَا حَرَامٌ إِنْ لَمْ تُطَلِّقَا ابْنَتَيْ مُحَمَّدٍ وَقَالَتْ أُمُّهُمَا بِنْتُ حَرْبِ بْنِ أُمَيَّةَ وَهِيَ حَمَّالَةُ الْحَطَبِ طَلِّقَاهُمَا يَا بَنِيَّ فَإِنَّهُمَا قَدْ حَبَّتَاهُ فَطَلَّقَاهُمَا وَلَمَّا طَلَّقَ عُتَيْبَةُ أُمَّ كُلْثُومٍ جَاءَ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ حَيْثُ فَارَقَ أُمَّ كُلْثُومٍ فَقَالَ كَفَرْتُ بِدِينِكَ وَفَارَقْتُ ابْنَتَكَ لَا تُحِبُّنِي وَلَا أُحِبُّكَ ثُمَّ سَطَا عَلَيْهِ فَشَقَّ قَمِيصَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ وَهُوَ خَارِجٌ نَحْوَ الشَّامِ تَاجِرًا فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «أَمَا إِنِّي أَسْأَلُ اللهَ أَنْ يُسَلِّطَ عَلَيْكَ كَلْبَهُ» فَخَرَجَ فِي تَجْرٍ مِنْ قُرَيْشٍ حَتَّى نَزَلُوا بِمَكَانٍ مِنَ الشَّامِ يُقَالُ لَهُ الزَّرْقَاءُ لَيْلًا فَأَطَافَ بِهِمُ الْأَسَدُ فِي تِلْكَ اللَّيْلَةِ فَجَعَلَ عُتَيْبَةَ يَقُولُ يَا وَيْلَ أُمِّي هُوَ وَاللهِ آكِلِي كَمَا دَعَا عَلَيَّ مُحَمَّدٌ فَأَبْكَى ابْنَ أَبِي كَبْشَةَ وَهُوَ بِمَكَّةَ وَأَنَا بِالشَّامِ فَعَدَا عَلَيْهِ الْأَسَدُ مِنْ بَيْنِ الْقَوْمِ فَأَخَذَ بِرَأْسِهِ فَضَغَمَهُ ضَغْمَةً فَقَتَلَهُ قَالَ زُهَيْرُ بْنُ الْعَلَاءِ فَحَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ عُرْوَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ أَنَّ الْأَسَدَ لَمَّا أَطَافَ بِهِمْ تِلْكَ اللَّيْلَةَ انْصَرَفُوا فَنَامُوا وَجَعَلَ عُتَيْبَةُ وَسْطَهُمْ فَأَقْبَلَ الْأَسَدُ يَتَخَطَّى حَتَّى أَخَذَ بِرَأْسِ عُتَيْبَةَ فَدَغَمَهُ وَخَلَفَ عُثْمَانُ بْنُ عَفَّانَ رَحِمَهُ اللهُ بَعْدَ رُقْيَةَ عَلَى أُمِّ كُلْثُومٍ رِضْوَانُ اللهِ عَلَيْهِمَا

[Machine] And Um Kulthum, the daughter of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, was with Utaybah bin Abi Lahab, who was eaten by a lion. When Ruqayyah passed away, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ married Um Kulthum to Uthman. She passed away while married to him and did not have any children for him. The Prophet ﷺ said to him, "If I had ten, I would have married them to you."  

الطبراني:١٩٣٥٥حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ حَدَّثَنَا الزُّبَيْرُ بْنُ بَكَّارٍ قَالَ

وَكَانَتْ أُمُّ كُلْثُومٍ بِنْتُ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ عِنْدَ عُتَيْبَةَ بْنِ أَبِي لَهَبٍ الَّذِي أَكَلَهُ الْأَسَدُ فَفَارَقَهَا وَلَمَّا تُوُفِّيَتْ رُقْيَةُ عِنْدَ عُثْمَانَ زَوَّجَهُ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أُمَّ كُلْثُومٍ فَتُوُفِّيَتْ عِنْدَهُ وَلَمْ تَلِدْ لَهُ شَيْئًا وَقَالَ لَهُ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «لَوْ كَانَ لِي عَشْرٌ لَزَوَّجْتُكَهُنَّ»

[Machine] Uthman married Umm Kulthum, the daughter of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , but she died without giving birth to anything for him.

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood at the grave of his second daughter, who was with Uthman, and said, "Shall I not be a father to Ayyim? Shall I not be a brother to Ayyim? Uthman married her, and if I had ten, I would marry them off to Uthman. I only marry them off by revelation from the heavens." And indeed, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ met Uthman at the door of the mosque and said, "O Uthman, this is Gabriel informing me that Allah has married you to Umm Kulthum with a dowry like that of Ruqayyah and with a companion like her."

وَقَفَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ عَلَى قَبْرِ ابْنَتِهِ الثَّانِيَةِ الَّتِي كَانَتْ عِنْدَ عُثْمَانَ فَقَالَ «أَلَا أَبَا أَيِّمٍ أَلَا أَخَا أَيِّمٍ تَزَوَّجَهَا عُثْمَانُ فَلَوْ كُنَّ عَشْرًا لَزَوَّجْتُهُنَّ عُثْمَانَ وَمَا زَوَّجْتُهُ إِلَّا بِوَحْيٍ مِنَ السَّمَاءِ» وَإِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ لَقِيَ عُثْمَانَ عِنْدَ بَابِ الْمَسْجِدِ فَقَالَ «يَا عُثْمَانُ هَذَا جِبْرِيلُ يُخْبِرُنِي أَنَّ اللهَ ﷻ قَدْ زَوَّجَكَ أُمَّ كُلْثُومٍ عَلَى مِثْلِ صَدَاقِ رُقْيَةَ وَعَلَى مِثْلِ صُحْبَتِهَا»

[Machine] He saw on Zaynab bint Rasulullah ﷺ a silky garment. Abu al-Qasim al-Tabarani narrated it this way from Ma'mar on Zaynab, but he made an error. The correct (version) is Umm Kulthum.

When he would bow, he would put her down, and when he would rise from prostration, he would take her and put her back on his neck."

«رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَؤُمُّ النَّاسَ وَأُمَامَةُ بِنْتُ أَبِي الْعَاصِ بْنِ الرَّبِيعِ عَلَى عَاتِقِهِ فَإِذَا رَكَعَ وَضَعَهَا وَإِذَا رَفَعَ مِنَ السُّجُودِ أَعَادَهَا»

And when he bowed down, he would place her on the ground from his shoulder, and when he finished his prostration, he would carry her on his shoulder. He continued doing this with her until he finished his prayer."

«أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ خَرَجَ إِلَى الصَّلَاةِ وَهُوَ حَامِلٌ عَلَى عَاتِقِهِ أُمَامَةَ بِنْتَ أَبِي الْعَاصِ بْنِ الرَّبِيعِ وَأُمُّهَا زَيْنَبُ بِنْتُ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَكَانَ إِذَا رَكَعَ وَضَعَهَا عَنْ عَاتِقِهِ وَإِذَا فَرَغَ مِنْ سُجُودِهِ حَمَلَهَا عَلَى عَاتِقِهِ فَلَمْ يَزَلْ يَصْنَعُ ذَلِكَ بِهَا حَتَّى فَرَغَ مِنْ صَلَاتِهِ»

«أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ كَانَ يُصَلِّي وَأُمَامَةُ بِنْتُ أَبِي الْعَاصِ عَلَى عَاتِقِهِ فَإِذَا رَكَعَ وَضَعَهَا وَإِذَا قَامَ حَمَلَهَا»

[Machine] He heard Abu Qatadah saying, "While we were sitting in the mosque, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came out to us carrying Umamah, the daughter of Abu Al-As, on his shoulder. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed while she was on his shoulder, and when he prostrated, he put her down until he finished his prayer."

[Machine] He heard Abu Qatadah saying, "While we were sitting in the mosque waiting for the prayer, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came out with his granddaughter Umamah bint Abi Al-As bin Ar-Rabi'ah on his shoulder, and her mother Zainab carrying her, and he would lift her up and place her on the ground when he went into prostration, and when he stood up, he would lift her up on his shoulder again until he finished his prayer, and he would do that."

[Machine] "While we were sitting in the mosque waiting for the prayer, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came out to us with Ummamah bint Abi al-'As ibn al-Rabi'i on his shoulder, and her mother is Zaynab bint Rasulullah ﷺ . When he bowed down, he placed her on the ground, and when he stood up, he carried her back on his shoulder until he finished his prayer, and he continued to do so with her."

When he would bow, he would put her down, and when he would stand, he would carry her until he finished his prayer."

[Machine] A necklace made of polished coral was presented to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ . His wives were all gathered in one house, and Umamah bint Abi al-'As ibn ar-Rabi' was playing in a corner of the house with some dust. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ asked, "How do you find her?" We looked at her and said, "O Messenger of Allah, we have not seen anything better than her, nor more beautiful." He said, "Bring her to me." When he took her, he said, "By Allah, I will put it around the neck of the one most beloved to the people of this house." Aisha said, "The ground seemed dark to me between me and him, out of fear that he would put it around the neck of someone else from them and I wouldn't be able to see them, as all of us were suffering from the same condition. We all fell silent, and he approached until he put it around the neck of Umamah bint Abi al-'As. Then, he turned away from us, pleased.  

الطبراني:١٩٣٧٤حَدَّثَنَا مَسْعَدَةُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ الْعَطَّارُ الْمَكِّيُّ وأَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ الْمَكِّيُّ قَالَا ثنا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ الْمُنْذِرِ الْحِزَامِيُّ ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ يَحْيَى بْنِ عُرْوَةَ ثنا هِشَامُ بْنُ عُرْوَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ

أُهْدِيَ لِرَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ قِلَادَةٌ مِنْ جَزْعٍ مَلَمَّعَةِ بِالذَّهَبِ وَنِسَاؤُهُ مُجْتَمِعَاتٌ فِي بَيْتٍ كُلُّهُنَّ وَأُمَامَةُ بِنْتُ أَبِي الْعَاصِ بْنِ الرَّبِيعِ جَارِيَةٌ تَلْعَبُ فِي جَانِبِ الْبَيْتِ بِالتُّرَابِ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «كَيْفَ تَرَيْنَ هَذِهِ؟» فَنَظَرْنَا إِلَيْهَا فَقُلْنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ مَا رَأَيْنَا أَحْسَنَ مِنْ هَذِهِ وَلَا أَعْجَبَ فَقَالَ «أَرْدِدْنَهَا إِلَيَّ» فَلَمَّا أَخَذَهَا قَالَ «وَاللهِ لَأَضَعَنَّهَا فِي رَقَبَةِ أَحَبِّ أَهْلِ الْبَيْتِ إِلَيَّ» قَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ فَأَظْلَمَتْ عَلَيَّ الْأَرْضُ بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَهُ خَشْيَةَ أَنْ يَضَعَهَا فِي رَقَبَةِ غَيْرِي مِنْهُنَّ وَلَا أَرَاهُنَّ إِلَّا قَدْ أَصَابَهُنَّ مِثْلُ الَّذِي أَصَابَنِي وَوَجَمَنَا جَمِيعًا سُكُوتٌ فَأَقْبَلَ بِهَا حَتَّى وَضَعَهَا فِي رَقَبَةِ أُمَامَةَ بِنْتِ أَبِي الْعَاصِ فَسُرِّيَ عَنَّا

[Machine] "Abu Al-Aas bin Al-Rabi' entrusted his daughter Ummamah to Zubair bin Al-Awam, and upon his death, Zubair married her to Ali bin Abi Talib after the demise of Fatimah bint Rasulullah ﷺ . Fatimah advised him to do so. Ali bin Abi Talib was killed while Ummamah bint Abi Al-Aas was still with him, but she did not bear a child for him. Umm Al-Haytham Al-Nakha'iyyah commented on that."  

الطبراني:١٩٣٧٥حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ ثنا الزُّبَيْرُ بْنُ بَكَّارٍ قَالَ

وَأَوْصَى أَبُو الْعَاصِ بْنِ الرَّبِيعِ بِابْنَتِهِ أُمَامَةَ إِلَى الزُّبَيْرِ بْنِ الْعَوَّامِ وَبِتِرْكَتِهِ فَزَوَّجَهَا الزُّبَيْرُ عَلِيَّ بْنَ أَبِي طَالِبٍ بَعْدَ وَفَاةِ فَاطِمَةَ بِنْتِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ أَوْصَتْهُ بِذَلِكَ فَاطِمَةُ ؓ وَقُتِلَ عَلِيُّ بْنُ أَبِي طَالِبٍ وَأُمَامَةُ بِنْتُ أَبِي الْعَاصِ عِنْدَهُ وَلَمْ تَلِدْ لَهُ فَقَالَتْ أُمُّ الْهَيْثَمِ النَّخَعَيِّةُ فِي ذَلِكَ

[Machine] "Abu al-Hayyaj ibn Abi Sufyan ibn al-Harith ibn Abdul-Muttalib succeeded Ummamah bint Abi al-Aas ibn al-Rabiah and her mother Zainab bint Rasul Allah."  

الطبراني:١٩٣٧٦حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو يَزِيدَ الْقَرَاطِيسِيُّ ثنا حَجَّاجُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الْأَزْرَقُ ثنا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ قَالَ

«خَلَفَ أَبُو الْهَيَّاجِ بْنُ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْمُطَّلِبِ عَلَى أُمَامَةَ بِنْتِ أَبِي الْعَاصِ بْنِ الرَّبِيعِ وَأُمُّهَا زَيْنَبُ بِنْتُ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ»

[Machine] Ummamah bint Abi Al-As was the daughter of her mother Zainab bint Rasul Allah ﷺ , and she was with Ali ibn Abi Talib. When her mother passed away, he said to her, "Do not remarry. But if you want to get married, do not leave the authority of Al-Mughira ibn Nawfal." Mu'awiyah ibn Abi Sufyan proposed to her, and she went to Al-Mughirah to seek his opinion. He said to her, "I am better for you than him, so leave the matter to me." She accepted and he called some men and married her. Ummamah bint Abi Al-As died while married to Al-Mughirah ibn Nawfal and did not bear children for him. Zainab had no heir.

كَانَتْ أُمَامَةُ بِنْتُ أَبِي الْعَاصِ أُمَّهَا زَيْنَبَ بِنْتَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ عِنْدَ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ فَلَمَّا تُوُفِّيَ عَنْهَا قَالَ لَهَا «لَا تَزَوَّجِي فَإِنْ أَرَدْتِ الزَّوَاجَ فَلَا تَخْرُجِي مِنْ رَأْيِ الْمُغِيرَةِ بْنِ نَوْفَلٍ» فَخَطَبَهَا مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ فَجَاءَتْ إِلَى الْمُغِيرَةِ تَسْتَأْمِرُهُ فَقَالَ لَهَا أَنَا خَيْرٌ لَكِ مِنْهُ فَاجْعَلِي أَمْرَكِ إِلَيَّ فَفَعَلَتْ فَدَعَا رِجَالًا فَتَزَوَّجَهَا فَهَلَكَتْ أُمَامَةُ بِنْتُ أَبِي الْعَاصِ عِنْدَ الْمُغِيرَةِ بْنِ نَوْفَلٍ وَلَمْ تَلِدْ لَهُ فَلَيْسَ لِزَيْنَبَ عَقِبٌ  

31.6 [Machine] Mentioning the Wives of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ

٣١۔٦ بَابُ ذِكْرُ أَزْوَاجِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ

[Machine] Among them is Khadijah bint Khuwaylid, the daughter of Asad ibn Abdul Uzza ibn Qusay, and she was the first woman that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ married. She is the mother of his male and female children, except for Ibrahim, peace be upon him, who is from his lineage, as is Maria al-Qibtiyya.

1084 - Muhammad ibn Abdullah al-Hadhrami narrated to us, narrated Muhammad ibn Abdullah ibn Numayr, who said: Yunus ibn Bukayr narrated from Muhammad ibn Ishaq, who said: Khadijah bint Khuwaylid ibn Asad ibn Abdul Uzza ibn Qusay.

مِنْهُنَّ خَدِيجَةُ بِنْتُ خُوَيْلِدِ بِنْتِ أَسَدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْعُزَّى بْنِ قُصَيٍّ وَهِيَ أَوَّلُ امْرَأَةٍ تَزَوَّجَهَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَهِيَ أُمُّ وَلَدِهِ الذُّكُورِ وَالْإِنَاثِ إِلَّا إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ فَإِنَّهُ مِنْ سُرِّيَّتِهِ مَارِيَةَ الْقِبْطِيَّةِ

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ mentioned Khadijah, the daughter of Khuwaylid, and her father wanted to marry her off. She prepared food and drinks and invited her father and the people of Quraysh, and they ate and drank until they became intoxicated. Then Khadijah said to her father, "Muhammad ibn Abdullah is proposing to me, so go and marry him." Her father married her to him, and she adorned him and dressed him in fine clothes. This is how they used to do with their daughters when they got married. When the intoxication wore off, he looked and saw himself in a well-dressed state, so he said, "What has happened to me?" Khadijah replied, "I have married you to Muhammad." He said, "I have married you, a fatherless girl, by my own life." Khadijah said, "Are you not ashamed? Do you want to disgrace yourself by telling Quraysh and the people that you were drunk and acted in that way until you agreed?"  

الطبراني:١٩٣٧٩حَدَّثَنَا يُوسُفُ الْقَاضِي ثنا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ ثنا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ عَنْ عَمَّارِ بْنِ أَبِي عَمَّارٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ فِيمَا يَحْسَبُ حَمَّادٌ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ ذَكَرَ خَدِيجَةَ بِنْتَ خُوَيْلِدٍ وَكَانَ أَبُوهَا يَرْغَبُ أَنْ يُزَوِّجَهُ وَصَنَعَتْ طَعَامًا وَشَرَابًا وَدَعَتْ أَبَاهَا وَنَفَرًا مِنْ قُرَيْشٍ فَطَعِمُوا وَشَرِبُوا حَتَّى ثَمِلُوا فَقَالَتْ خَدِيجَةُ لِأَبِيهَا «إِنَّ مُحَمَّدَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللهِ يَخْطُبُنِي قُمْ فَزَوِّجْهُ فَزَوَّجَهَا إِيَّاهُ فَخَلَّقَتْهُ وَأَلْبَسَتْهُ حُلَّةً وَكَذَلِكَ كَانُوا يَفْعَلُونَ بِالْآبَاءِ إِذَا زَوَّجُوا بَنَاتِهِمْ فَلَمَّا سُرِّيَ عَنْهُ السُّكْرُ نَظَرَ فَإِذَا هُوَ مُخَلَّقٌ وَعَلَيْهِ حُلَّةٌ» فَقَالَ مَا شَأْنِي؟ قَالَ فَقَالَتْ «زَوَّجْتَنِي مِنْ مُحَمَّدٍ» فَقَالَ أَنَا زَوَّجْتُكِ يَتِيمَ أَبِي طَالِبٍ لَا لَعَمْرِي فَقَالَتْ خَدِيجَةُ «أَمَا تَسْتَحْيِي تُرِيدُ أَنْ تُسَفِّهَ نَفْسَكَ تُخْبِرُ قُرَيْشًا وَالنَّاسَ أَنَّكَ كُنْتَ سَكْرَانًا فَلَمْ تَزَلْ بِهِ حَتَّى رَضِيَ»

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ married fifteen women. Six of them were from the Quraysh, one from the allies of Quraysh, seven from the rest of the Arabs, and one from the Children of Israel. He did not marry any of them during the time of ignorance except for one, and he did not have any children with them except for one. The first woman he married during the time of ignorance was Khadijah bint Khuwaylid ibn Asad ibn Abd al-Uzza ibn Qusay. Before him, she was married to Atiq ibn A'idh ibn Abd Allah ibn Umar ibn Makhzum. Then, after Atiq, Abu Hala Hind bint Zurarah ibn Nabbash ibn Habib ibn Surad ibn Salamah ibn Jarwah ibn Asid ibn Amr ibn Tamim married her, and she gave birth to his son Hind bint Hind." Zuhayr said: Yunus ibn Ubayd said: Hind passed by Basrah and died there. There was no market or supply on that day. The Prophet ﷺ married her after them, and she gave birth to his son, Abd Manaf, during the time of ignorance. She also gave birth to two boys and four girls during Islam.

«تَزَوَّجَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ خَمْسَ عَشْرَةَ امْرَأَةً مِنْهُنَّ سِتٌّ مِنْ قُرَيْشٍ وَوَاحِدَةٌ مِنْ حُلَفَاءِ قُرَيْشٍ وَسَبْعٌ مِنْ سَائِرِ الْعَرَبِ وَوَاحِدَةٌ مِنْ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ وَلَمْ يَتَزَوَّجْ فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ مِنْهُنَّ غَيْرَ وَاحِدَةٍ وَلَمْ تَلِدْ لَهُ مِنْهُنَّ غَيْرُهَا فَأَوَّلُ مَنْ تَزَوَّجَ فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ خَدِيجَةَ بِنْتَ خُوَيْلِدِ بْنِ أَسَدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْعُزَّى بْنِ قُصَيٍّ وَكَانَتْ قَبْلَهُ عِنْدَ عَتِيقِ بْنِ عَائِذِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ بْنِ مَخْزُومٍ ثُمَّ خَلَفَ عَلَيْهَا بَعْدَ عَتِيقٍ أَبُو هَالَةَ هِنْدُ بْنُ زُرَارَةَ بْنِ نَبَّاشِ بْنِ حَبِيبِ بْنِ صُرَدِ بْنِ سَلَامَةَ بْنِ جَرْوَةَ بْنِ أَسِيدِ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ تَمِيمٍ فَوَلَدَتْ لَهُ هِنْدَ بْنَ هِنْدٍ» قَالَ زُهَيْرٌ قَالَ يُونُسُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ فَمَرَّ هِنْدُ بِالْبَصْرَةِ مُجْتَازًا فَهَلَكَ بِهَا فَلَمْ يَقُمْ سُوقٌ وَلَا كَلَأٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ فَتَزَوَّجَهَا النَّبِيُّ ﷺ بَعْدَهُمَا فَوَلَدَتْ لَهُ فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ عَبْدَ مَنَافٍ وَوَلَدَتْ لَهُ فِي الْإِسْلَامِ غُلَامَيْنِ وَأَرْبَعَ بَنَاتٍ

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , married Khadijah bint Khuwaylid in Makkah. Before that, she was married to Atiq Ibn Abi A'idh Al-Makhzumi. Then he married Aisha in Makkah. He did not marry a virgin other than her. Then he married Hafsa bint Umar, who was previously married to Khunays Ibn Hudhafah As-Sahmi. Then he married Sawda bint Zam'a, who was previously married to As-Sakan Ibn Amr, the brother of Bani 'Amir Ibn Lu'ayy. Then he married Umm Habiba, the daughter of Abu Sufyan, who was previously married to Ubaydullah Ibn Jahsh Al-Asadi, Asad Ibn Khuzaymah. Then he married Zaynab bint Jahsh, who was previously married to Zayd Ibn Harithah. Then he married Maymuna bint Al-Harith and he took Juwayriya bint Al-Harith, from the Banu Mustaliq tribe as a captive in his raid when he demolished the Mannat Al-Muraysi. And he took Safiyya bint Huyayy bin Akhtab from the Banu Nadir tribe. She was among those whom Allah gave him as spoils of war. He divided her among his companions and offered her to Rayhana bint Zayd from the Banu Quraiza tribe, then he emancipated her and she reunited with her family while still maintaining her seclusion. The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , divorced Al-`Aliyah bint Zabyan and separated from the sister of Banu `Amr bin Kilab and the sister of Banu Al-Jawna Al-Kindiyyah because of the beauty that was in them. Zainab bint Khuzaymah Al-Hilaliyyah passed away while the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , was alive. It has reached us that Al-`Aliyah bint Zabyan got married before Allah prohibited his wives. She married her cousin from her own people and bore children with him.

«تَزَوَّجَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ بِمَكَّةَ خَدِيجَةَ بِنْتَ خُوَيْلِدٍ وَكَانَتْ قَبْلَهُ عِنْدَ عَتِيقِ بْنِ عَائِذٍ الْمَخْزُومِيِّ ثُمَّ تَزَوَّجَ بِمَكَّةَ عَائِشَةَ لَمْ يَتَزَوَّجْ بِكْرًا غَيْرَهَا ثُمَّ تَزَوَّجَ حَفْصَةَ بِنْتَ عُمَرَ وَكَانَتْ قَبْلَهُ تَحْتَ خُنَيْسِ بْنِ حُذَافَةَ السَّهْمِيِّ ثُمَّ تَزَوَّجَ سَوْدَةَ بِنْتَ زَمْعَةَ وَكَانَتْ قَبْلَهُ تَحْتَ السَّكَنِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو أَخِي بَنِي عَامِرِ بْنِ لُؤَيٍّ ثُمَّ تَزَوَّجَ أُمَّ حَبِيبَةَ بِنْتَ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ وَكَانَتْ قَبْلَهُ عِنْدَ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ بْنِ جَحْشٍ الْأَسَدِيِّ أَسَدِ خُزَيْمَةَ ثُمَّ تَزَوَّجَ أُمَّ سَلَمَةَ بِنْتَ أَبِي أُمَيْمَةَ وَكَانَ اسْمُهَا هِنْدَ وَكَانَتْ قَبْلَهُ تَحْتَ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْأَسَدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْعُزَّى ثُمَّ تَزَوَّجَ زَيْنَبَ بِنْتَ جَحْشٍ وَكَانَتْ قَبْلَهُ تَحْتَ زَيْدِ بْنِ حَارِثَةَ ثُمَّ تَزَوَّجَ مَيْمُونَةَ بِنْتَ الْحَارِثِ وَسَبَى جُوَيْرِيَةَ بِنْتَ الْحَارِثِ بْنَ أَبِي ضِرَارٍ مِنْ بَنِي الْمُصْطَلِقِ مِنْ خُزَاعَةَ فِي غَزْوَتِهِ الَّتِي هَدَمَ فِيهَا مَنَاةَ الْمُرَيْسِيعَ وَسَبَى صَفِيَّةَ بِنْتَ حُيَيِّ بْنِ أَخْطَبَ مِنْ بَنِي النَّضِيرِ وَكَانَتْ مِمَّا أَفَاءَ اللهُ عَلَيْهِ فَقَسَمَ لَهَا وَاسْتَسَرَّ رَيْحَانَةَ مِنْ بَنِي قُرَيْظَةَ ثُمَّ أَعْتَقَهَا فَلَحِقَتْ بِأَهْلِهَا وَاحْتَجَبَتْ وَهِيَ عِنْدَ أَهْلِهَا وَطَلَّقَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ الْعَالِيَةَ بِنْتَ ظَبْيَانَ وَفَارَقَ أُخْتَ بَنِي عَمْرِو بْنِ كِلَابٍ وَفَارَقَ أُخْتَ بَنِي الْجَوْنِ الْكِنْدِيَّةَ مِنْ أَجْلِ بَيَاضٍ كَانَ بِهَا وَتُوُفِّيَتْ زَيْنَبُ بِنْتُ خُزَيْمَةَ الْهِلَالِيَّةُ وَرَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ حَيٌّ وَبَلَغَنَا أَنَّ الْعَالِيَةَ بِنْتَ ظَبْيَانَ تَزَوَّجَتْ قَبْلَ أَنْ يُحَرِّمَ اللهُ نِسَاءَهُ فَنَكَحَتْ ابْنَ عَمٍّ لَهَا مِنْ قَوْمِهَا وَوَلَدَتْ فِيهِمْ»

[Machine] The first woman whom the Messenger of Allah ﷺ married was Khadijah, then he married Sawda bint Zam'a, then he married Aisha in Mecca, and he built a house with her in Medina. He then married Zainab bint Khuzayma al-Hilaliyya in Medina, then he married Umm Salama, then he married Juwayriyah bint al-Harith. These were among the women that Allah granted him. Then he married Maymuna bint al-Harith, who offered herself to the Prophet ﷺ. Then he married Safiyya bint Huyayy on the day of Khaibar. Then he married Zainab bint Jahsh, who was the wife of Zaid bin Haritha. Zainab bint Khuzayma passed away during the time of the Prophet ﷺ, and Khadijah also passed away in Mecca. The Prophet ﷺ then married a woman from the Banu Kilab from the Banu Rabia, whose name was Al-Aliya bint Zabayyan, and he divorced her when she was brought to him.

«أَوَّلُ امْرَأَةٍ تَزَوَّجَهَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ خَدِيجَةَ ثُمَّ تَزَوَّجَ سَوْدَةَ بِنْتَ زَمْعَةَ ثُمَّ نَكَحَ عَائِشَةَ بِمَكَّةَ وَبَنَى بِهَا بِالْمَدِينَةِ وَنَكَحَ بِالْمَدِينَةِ زَيْنَبَ بِنْتَ خُزَيْمَةَ الْهِلَالِيَّةَ ثُمَّ نَكَحَ أُمَّ سَلَمَةَ ثُمَّ نَكَحَ جُوَيْرِيَةَ بِنْتَ الْحَارِثِ فَكَانَتْ مِمَّا أَفَاءَ اللهُ عَلَيْهِ ثُمَّ نَكَحَ مَيْمُونَةَ بِنْتَ الْحَارِثِ وَهِيَ الَّتِي وَهَبَتْ نَفْسَهَا لِلنَّبِيِّ ﷺ ثُمَّ نَكَحَ صَفِيَّةَ بِنْتَ حُيَيٍّ وَهِيَ مِمَّا أَفَاءَ اللهُ عَلَيْهِ يَوْمَ خَيْبَرَ ثُمَّ نَكَحَ زَيْنَبَ بِنْتَ جَحْشٍ وَكَانَتِ امْرَأَةَ زَيْدِ بْنِ حَارِثَةَ وَتُوُفِّيَتْ زَيْنَبُ بِنْتُ خُزَيْمَةَ عِنْدَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ وَخَدِيجَةُ أَيْضًا تُوُفِّيَتْ بِمَكَّةَ وَنَكَحَ امْرَأَةً مِنْ بَنِي كِلَابٍ مِنْ بَنِي رَبِيعَةَ يُقَالُ لَهَا الْعَالِيَةُ بِنْتُ ظَبْيَانَ فَطَلَّقَهَا حِينَ أُدْخِلَتْ عَلَيْهِ»

[Machine] The wives of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ were Khadijah bint Khuwaylid, Aisha bint Abu Bakr, Umm Salamah bint Abu Umayyah, Hafsah bint Umar, Umm Habibah bint Abu Sufyan, Juwayriyah bint al-Harith, Maymunah bint al-Harith, Zainab bint Jahsh, Sawdah bint Zam'ah, and Safiyyah bint Huyayy. They all came to him one by one, after Khadijah and al-Kindyah from the Banu al-Jawn and al-Aaliyah bint Zabyan from the Banu 'Amir bin Banu Kilab, and Zainab bint Khuzaymah, who was married to a man from the Banu Hilal. Al-Zuhri said: Urwah ibn al-Zubayr narrated to me that when al-Kindyah was brought to the Prophet ﷺ , she said, 'I seek refuge with Allah from you.' He replied, 'You have sought refuge with a great protector, the Lord of the Noble House.'

أَنَّ أَزْوَاجَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ خَدِيجَةُ بِنْتُ خُوَيْلِدٍ وَعَائِشَةُ بِنْتُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ وَأُمُّ سَلَمَةَ بِنْتِ أَبِي أُمَيَّةَ وَحَفْصَةُ بِنْتُ عُمَرَ وَأُمُّ حَبِيبَةَ بِنْتُ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ وَجُوَيْرِيَةُ بِنْتُ الْحَارِثِ وَمَيْمُونَةُ بِنْتُ الْحَارِثِ وَزَيْنَبُ بِنْتُ جَحْشٍ وَسَوْدَةُ بِنْتُ زَمْعَةَ وَصَفِيَّةُ بِنْتُ حُيَيٍّ حَتَّى اجْتَمَعْنَ عِنْدَهُ تِسْعَةٌ بَعْدَ خَدِيجَةَ وَالْكِنْدِيَّةُ مِنْ بَنِي الْجَوْنِ وَالْعَالِيَةُ بِنْتُ ظَبْيَانَ مِنْ بَنِي عَامِرِ بْنِ بَنِي كِلَابٍ وَزَيْنَبُ بِنْتُ خُزَيْمَةَ امْرَأَةٌ مِنْ بَنِي هِلَالٍ قَالَ الزُّهْرِيُّ أَخْبَرَنِي عُرْوَةُ بْنُ الزُّبَيْرِ قَالَ لَمَّا أُدْخِلَتِ الْكِنْدِيَّةُ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَتْ أَعُوذُ بِاللهِ مِنْكَ فَقَالَ «لَقَدْ عُذْتِ بِعَظِيمٍ الْحَقِي بِأَهْلِكِ»

[Machine] Ibn Abi Mulayka and Amr ibn Dinar gathered in the presence of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ with nine women, along with Safiyyah, after Khadijah passed away. All of them died except for one, Uthman ibn Abi Sulaiman, who married two women from Banu Amir ibn Sa'saah, apart from the nine. He married both of them and one of them was called Umm al-Masakin, and she was the best of his wives in serving the poor. He married a woman from Banu Al-Jawn and when she came to him, she sought refuge from him. He divorced her and married a woman from Kindah, but he did not have intimate relations with her. She got married after the Prophet ﷺ , and Umar separated the marriage and struck his wife. She said, "Fear Allah, O Umar, if you are among the mothers of the believers, then strike me with the hijab and give me what you have given them." He said, "As for that, no." She said, "Leave me to marry." He said, "No, I have no need for that nor do I desire it from anyone."

ابْنُ أَبِي مُلَيْكَةَ وعَمْرُو بْنُ دِينَارٍ اجْتَمَعَ عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ تِسْعُ نِسْوَةٍ مَعَ صَفِيَّةَ بَعْدَ خَدِيجَةَ مَاتَ عَنْهُنَّ كُلُّهُنَّ قَالَ وَزَادَ عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي سُلَيْمَانَ امْرَأَتَيْنِ سِوَى التِّسْعِ مِنْ بَنِي عَامِرِ بْنِ صَعْصَعَةَ كِلْتَاهُمَا جَمَعَ وَكَانَتْ إِحْدَاهُمَا تُدْعَى أُمَّ الْمَسَاكِينِ وَكَانَتْ خَيْرَ نِسَائِهِ لِلْمَسَاكِينِ وَنَكَحَ امْرَأَةً مِنْ بَنِي الْجَوْنِ فَلَمَّا جَاءَتْهُ اسْتَعَاذَتْ مِنْهُ فَطَلَّقَهَا وَنَكَحَ امْرَأَةً مِنْ كِنْدَةَ وَلَمْ يَجْمَعْهَا فَتَزَوَّجَتْ بَعْدَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَفَرَّقَ عُمَرُ بَيْنَهُمَا وَضَرَبَ زَوْجَهَا فَقَالَتْ اتَّقِ اللهَ يَا عُمَرُ إِنْ كُنْتُ مِنْ أُمَّهَاتِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ فَاضْرِبْ عَلَيَّ الْحِجَابَ وَأَعْطِنِي مَا أَعْطَيْتَهُنَّ فَقَالَ «أَمَا هُنَالِكَ فَلَا» قَالَتْ فَدَعْنِي أَنْكِحْ قَالَ «لَا وَلَا نِعْمَةَ وَلَا أُطْمِعُ فِي ذَلِكَ أَحَدًا»

[Machine] And the mother of the children of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ other than Ibrahim was Khadijah bint Khuwaylid, who was known in the pre-Islamic era as Tahira bint Asad ibn Abdul Uzza ibn Qusayy. Her mother was Fatima bint Zaidah ibn Jundub, and her father was Al-Asamm ibn Sakhr ibn Abdi Ma'is ibn Amir ibn Lu'ayy. Her mother was Hala bint Abdu Manaf ibn Al-Harith ibn Munqidh ibn Amr ibn Ma'is ibn Amr ibn Lu'ayy. Her tribe was Al-Ariqah, and her name was Qilabah bint Sa'd ibn Sahm ibn Amr ibn Husays ibn Ka'b ibn Lu'ayy. Hibban ibn Abdul Manaf, the brother of Hala, was the one who threw Sa'd ibn Mu'adh (may Allah have mercy on him) on the day of the Battle of the Trench, and he said, "Take him, and I am the son of Al-Ariqah." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "May Allah darken your face in the Fire." So Sa'd bin Mu'adh, may Allah have mercy on him, was affected by it and he died as a martyr. Khadijah bint Khuwaylid died before the Messenger of Allah ﷺ at the house of Atiq bin A'idh ibn Abdullah ibn Amr ibn Makhzum. She gave birth to him Hind bint Atiq, then Abu Halah, Malik bin Nabbash ibn Zurarah ibn Waddan ibn Habib ibn Salamah ibn Adi, from the Banu Asid, son of Amr ibn Tamim, an ally of the Banu Abdudar ibn Qusayy. She also gave birth to Hind bint Abi Halah. Hind bint Atiq and Hind and Hala are the children of Abu Hala, Malik bin Nabbash ibn Zurarah. They are the siblings of the children of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ from Khadijah bint Khuwaylid, from their mother.

وَأُمُّ بَنِي رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ وَبَنَاتِهِ غَيْرَ إِبْرَاهِيمَ خَدِيجَةُ بِنْتُ خُوَيْلِدٍ وَكَانَتْ تُدْعَى فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ الطاهرةَ بِنْتَ أَسَدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْعُزَّى بْنِ قُصَيٍّ وَأُمُّهَا فَاطِمَةُ بِنْتُ زَائِدَةَ بِنْتِ جُنْدُبٍ وَهُوَ الْأَصَمُّ بْنُ صَخْرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ مَعِيصِ بْنِ عَامِرِ بْنِ لُؤَيٍّ وَأُمُّهَا هَالَةُ بِنْتُ عَبْدِ مَنَافِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ مُنْقِذِ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ مَعِيصِ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ لُؤَيٍّ وَأُمُّهَا 4 الْعَرِقَةُ وَاسْمُهَا قِلَابَةُ بِنْتُ سَعْدِ بْنِ سَهْمِ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ هُصَيْصِ بْنِ كَعْبِ بْنِ لُؤَيٍّ وَحِبَّانُ بْنُ عَبْدِ مَنَافٍ أَخُو هَالَةَ لِأَبِيهَا وَأُمِّهَا هُوَ الَّذِي رَمَى سَعْدَ بْنَ مُعَاذٍ رَحِمَهُ اللهُ يَوْمَ الْخَنْدَقِ فَقَالَ خُذْهَا وَأَنَا ابْنُ الْعَرِقَةِ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «عَرَّقَ اللهُ وَجْهَكَ فِي النَّارِ» فَأَصَابَ أَكْحَلُ سَعْدَ رَحِمَ اللهُ سَعْدًا فَمَاتَ شَهِيدًا وَكَانَتْ خَدِيجَةُ بِنْتُ خُوَيْلِدٍ قَبْلَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ عِنْدَ عَتِيقِ بْنِ عَائِذِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ مَخْزُومٍ فَوَلَدَتْ لَهُ هِنْدَ بْنَ عَتِيقٍ ثُمَّ خَلَفَ عَلَيْهَا أَبُو هَالَةَ مَالِكُ بْنُ نَبَّاشِ بْنِ زُرَارَةَ بْنِ وَفْدَانَ بْنِ حَبِيبِ بْنِ سَلَامَةَ بْنِ عَدِيٍّ مِنْ بَنِي أَسِيدِ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ تَمِيمٍ حَلِيفُ بَنِي عَبْدِ الدَّارِ بْنِ قُصَيٍّ فَوَلَدَتْ لَهُ هِنْدَ بْنَ أَبِي هَالَةَ فَهِنْدُ بْنُ عَتِيقٍ وَهِنْدُ وهالةُ أَبْنَاءُ أَبِي هَالَةَ مَالِكِ بْنِ نَبَّاشِ بْنِ زُرَارَةَ إِخْوَةُ وَلَدِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ مِنْ خَدِيجَةَ بِنْتِ خُوَيْلِدٍ مِنْ أُمِّهِمْ

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ married Khadijah in Makkah, and she was the first woman he married. Before him, she was married to Abu Hala al-Tamimi. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ married her when he was twenty-one years old, and she passed away seven years before his migration. Al-Zubayr said, "Umar ibn Abu Bakr al-Mu'amili told me that Amr ibn Asad married Khadijah before the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ married her when he was twenty-five years old. The Quraysh were building the Kaaba." Al-Zubayr added, "Muhammad ibn Hasan informed me that Khalid ibn Ismail told him that Ibn Jurayj said, 'The Messenger of Allah ﷺ married her when he was thirty-seven years old.'" Al-Zubayr also said, "Muhammad ibn Hasan informed me that Muhammad ibn Fuleih told him that Yazid ibn 'Iyad narrated from Ibn Shihab, who said, 'Khadijah bint Khuwaylid was with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ before the Qur'an was revealed to him. Then the Qur'an was revealed to him while she was with him. She was the first person to believe in him and she passed away in Makkah three years before the Messenger of Allah ﷺ migrated to Madinah.'"

«تَزَوَّجَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ خَدِيجَةَ بِمَكَّةَ وَهِيَ أَوَّلُ امْرَأَةٍ تَزَوَّجَ وَكَانَتْ قَبْلَهُ عِنْدَ أَبِي هَالَةَ التَّمِيمِيِّ وَتَزَوَّجَهَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَهُوَ ابْنُ إِحْدَى وَعِشْرِينَ سَنَةً وَتُوُفِّيَتْ لِسَبْعٍ مَضَيْنَ مِنْ مَبْعَثِهِ» قَالَ الزُّبَيْرُ وَحَدَّثَنِي عُمَرُ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ الْمُؤَمِّلِيُّ أَنَّ عَمْرَو بْنَ أَسَدٍ زَوَّجَ خَدِيجَةَ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ وَتَزَوَّجَهَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَهُوَ ابْنُ خَمْسٍ وَعِشْرِينَ سَنَةً وَقُرَيْشٌ تَبْنِي الْكَعْبَةَ قَالَ الزُّبَيْرُ وَحَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ حَسَنٍ عَنْ خَالِدِ بْنِ إِسْمَاعِيلَ عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ قَالَ نَكَحَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَهُوَ ابْنُ سَبْعٍ وَثَلَاثِينَ سَنَةً قَالَ الزُّبَيْرُ وَحَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ حَسَنٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ يَحْيَى بْنِ عُرْوَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ قَالَ عَمْرُو بْنُ أَسَدٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ يَخْطُبُ خَدِيجَةَ بِنْتَ خُوَيْلِدٍ هَذَا الْفَحْلُ لَا يُقْرَعُ أَنْفُهُ قَالَ الزُّبَيْرُ وَحَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ حَسَنٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ فُلَيْحٍ عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ عِيَاضٍ عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ قَالَ كَانَتْ خَدِيجَةُ بِنْتُ خُوَيْلِدٍ عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَنْزِلَ عَلَيْهِ الْقُرْآنُ ثُمَّ نَزَلَ عَلَيْهِ الْقُرْآنُ وَهِيَ عِنْدَهُ وَهِيَ أَوَّلُ مَنْ صَدَّقَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ وَآمَنَتْ بِهِ وَتُوُفِّيَتْ بِمَكَّةَ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَخْرُجَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِلَى الْمَدِينَةِ بِثَلَاثِ سِنِينَ

[Machine] "Khadijah passed away before the Prophet ﷺ migrated to Medina by about three years or so. He then married Aisha soon after Khadijah's death and did not take another wife on top of Khadijah until she passed away."

«تُوُفِّيَتْ خَدِيجَةُ بِمَكَّةَ قَبْلَ الْهِجْرَةِ بِثَلَاثِ سِنِينَ وَهِيَ أَوَّلُ مَنْ آمَنَ بِالنَّبِيِّ ﷺ مِنَ النِّسَاءِ وَالرِّجَالِ وَلَمْ يَتَزَوَّجْ فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ غَيْرَهَا وَلَمْ تَلِدْ لَهُ مِنَ الْمَهَايِرِ غَيْرُهَا»
