[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was informed that the Banu Mustaliq were gathering together with their leader, Al-Harith bin Abi Dirar, and Abu Juwayriyah bint Al-Harith, the wife of the Prophet ﷺ . When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ heard about them, he went out to meet them at a place called Al-Muraysii' from the side of Qudayd to the coast. The people became crowded and fought each other. Allah defeated the Banu Mustaliq, and Al-Harith bin Abi Dirar, Abu Juwayriyah's husband, was killed, along with some others from among them. Allah ransomized the Prophet's ﷺ captives, their children, and their women. On that day, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ acquired many captives, which he divided among the Muslims. Among the women he acquired was Juwayriyah bint Al-Harith bin Abi Dirar, who became the leader of her people's women.  

بَلَغَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَنَّ بَنِي الْمُصْطَلِقِ يَجْمَعُونَ لَهُ وَقَائِدُهُمُ الْحَارِثُ بْنُ أَبِي ضِرَارٍ أَبُو جُوَيْرِيَةَ بِنْتِ الْحَارِثِ زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَلَمَّا سَمِعَ بِهِمْ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ خَرَجَ إِلَيْهِمْ حَتَّى لَقِيَهُمْ عَلَى مَاءٍ لَهُمْ يُقَالُ لَهُ الْمُرَيْسِيعُ مِنْ نَاحِيَةِ قُدَيْدٍ إِلَى السَّاحِلِ فَتَزَاحَمَ النَّاسُ وَاقْتَتَلُوا فَهَزَمَ اللهُ بَنِي الْمُصْطَلِقِ وَقُتِلَ الْحَارِثُ بْنُ أَبِي ضِرَارٍ أَبُو جُوَيْرِيَةَ وَقُتِلَ مَنْ قُتِلَ مِنْهُمْ وَنَفَّلَ اللهُ رَسُولَهُ أَبْنَاءَهُمْ وَنِسَاءَهُمْ وَكَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَصَابَ مِنْهُمْ سَبْيًا كَثِيرًا قَسَمَهُ فِي الْمُسْلِمِينَ وَكَانَ فِيمَا أَصَابَ يَوْمَئِذٍ مِنَ النِّسَاءِ جُوَيْرِيَةُ بِنْتُ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ أَبِي ضِرَارٍ سَيِّدَةُ نِسَاءِ قَوْمِهَا  

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ passed by her early in the morning while she was praying in the mosque. Then he passed by her again close to midday and asked, "Are you still doing the same thing?" She replied, "Yes." He said, "Shall I teach you some words that are equivalent to freeing slaves? They are: Subhan Allah (Glory be to Allah) the number of His creations three times, Subhan Allah satisfaction with Himself three times, Subhan Allah the weight of His Throne three times, and Subhan Allah the ink of His words." Her name was Burrah, so the Messenger of Allah ﷺ named her Juwayriyah.  

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ مَرَّ عَلَيْهَا بَاكِرًا وَهِيَ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ تَدْعُو ثُمَّ مَرَّ عَلَيْهَا قَرِيبًا مِنْ نِصْفِ النَّهَارِ فَقَالَ «مَا زِلْتِ عَلَى ذَلِكَ؟» قَالَتْ نَعَمْ فَقَالَ أَلَا أُعَلِّمُكِ كَلِمَاتٍ تَعْدِلُهُنَّ وَرِقَابٌ أوْوَزْنُهُنَّ سُبْحَانَ اللهِ عَدَدَ خَلْقِهِ ثَلَاثًا سُبْحَانَ اللهِ رِضَى نَفْسِهِ ثَلَاثًا سُبْحَانَ اللهِ زِنَةَ عَرْشِهِ ثَلَاثًا سُبْحَانَ اللهِ مِدَادَ كَلِمَاتِهِ وَكَانَتِ اسْمُهَا بُرَّةَ فَسَمَّاهَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ جُوَيْرِيَةَ  

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , passed by her while he was praying Fajr or after he had prayed Fajr, and she was remembering Allah until the sun rose, and she was still like that. So he said, "Since I left you, I have said three statements that are greater and more beloved to me than what you have been saying: Subhan Allah (Glory be to Allah) as many times as the number of His creation, Subhan Allah (Glory be to Allah) as many times as the weight of His Throne, Subhan Allah (Glory be to Allah) as many times as the ink of His words."  

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ مَرَّ بِهَا حِينَ صَلَّى الْغَدَاةَ أَوْ بَعْدَ صَلَّى الْغَدَاةَ وَهِيَ تَذْكُرُ اللهَ حَتَّى ارْتَفَعَ النَّهَارُ وَهِيَ كَذَلِكَ فَقَالَ «لَقَدْ قُلْتُ مُنْذُ قُمْتُ عَنْكِ كَلِمَاتٍ ثَلَاثًا هُنَّ أَكْبَرُ وَأَرْجِحُ أَوْ أَوْزَنُ مِمَّا قُلْتِ سُبْحَانَ اللهِ عَدَدَ خَلْقِهِ سُبْحَانَ اللهِ رِضَى نَفْسِهِ سُبْحَانَ اللهِ زِنَةَ عَرْشِهِ سُبْحَانَ اللهِ مِدَادَ كَلِمَاتِهِ»  

Is there anything to eat? She said: Messenger of Allah, I swear by God, there is no food with us except a bone of goat which my freed maid-servant was given as sadaqa. Upon this he said: Bring that to me, for it (the sadaqa) has reached its destination. (Using translation from Muslim 1073a)  

أَنَّ جُوَيْرِيَةَ زَوْجَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَخْبَرَتْهُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ دَخَلَ عَلَيْهَا فَقَالَ «هَلْ مِنْ طَعَامٍ؟» فَقَالَتْ لَا وَاللهِ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ مَا عِنْدِي طَعَامٌ إِلَّا عَظْمٌ مِنْ شَاةٍ أُعْطِيَتْهَا مَوْلَاتِي مِنَ الصَّدَقَةِ قَالَ «قَرِّبِيهِ فَقَدْ بَلَغَتْ مَحَلَّهَا»  

[Machine] Juwairiyah, the wife of the Prophet ﷺ, reported that the Prophet ﷺ entered upon her and said, "Do you have any food?" She replied, "No, by Allah, except a bone of a sheep that my slave girl gifted to me from the charity." The Prophet ﷺ said, "Bring it closer, for it has reached its place."  

عَنْ جُوَيْرِيَةَ زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ دَخَلَ عَلَيْهَا فَقَالَ «هَلْ مِنْ طَعَامٍ؟» فَقَالَتْ لَا وَاللهِ إِلَّا عَظْمٌ مِنْ شَاةٍ أُعْطِيَتْهَا مَوْلَاتِي مِنَ الصَّدَقَةِ فَقَالَ «قَرِّبِيهِ فَقَدْ بَلَغَتْ مَحَلَّهَا»  

[Machine] We had a woman who used to give witness to us about something, so I made it and he said, "Bring it closer, for it has reached its place," referring to the Prophet ﷺ.  

كَانَتْ لَنَا مَوْلَاةٌ تُصُدِّقَ عَلَيْهَا بِشَيْءٍ فَصَنَعْتُهُ فَقَالَ «قَرِّبِيهِ فَقَدْ بَلَغَ مَحَلَّهُ» يَعْنِي النَّبِيَّ ﷺ  

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ entered upon her and said, "Do you have any food?" She replied, "By Allah, nothing except a piece of mutton that my mistress gave me from charity." He said, "Bring it closer, for its place has been reached."  

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ دَخَلَ عَلَيْهَا فَقَالَ «عِنْدَكُمْ مِنْ طَعَامٍ؟» فَقَالَتْ لَا وَاللهِ إِلَّا عَظْمٌ مِنْ شَاةٍ أُعْطِيَتْهُ مَوْلَاتِي مِنَ الصَّدَقَةِ فَقَالَ «قَرِّبِيهِ فَقَدْ بَلَغَ مَحَلَّهَا»  

[Machine] Ali, the messenger of Allah ﷺ , entered and said, "Is there any food?" I replied, "Only a bone that was given to me by the guardians of our charity." He said, "Bring it closer, for it has reached its place."  

دَخَلَ عَلِيَّ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ «هَلْ مِنْ طَعَامٍ؟» قُلْتُ لَا إِلَّا عَظْمٌ أُعْطِيَتْهُ مَوْلَاتُنَا مِنَ الصَّدَقَةِ قَالَ «قَرِّبِيهِ فَقَدْ بَلَغَتْ مَحَلَّهَا»  

[Machine] He informed him that Juwayriyah bint al-Harith, the wife of the Prophet ﷺ, had informed him that her maid had testified truthfully about her with a piece of meat, so she made it for him. When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ returned, he asked, "Do you have any dinner?" I said, "O Messenger of Allah, someone has testified about her with a piece of meat, and I have made it for her." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Bring it closer, for it has reached its place, and he ate from it."  

أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّ جُوَيْرِيَةَ بِنْتَ الْحَارِثِ زَوْجَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَخْبَرَتْهُ أَنَّ مَوْلَاتَهَا تُصُدِّقَ عَلَيْهَا بِلَحْمٍ فَصَنَعَتْهُ فَلَمَّا رَجَعَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ «هَلْ عِنْدَكُمْ مِنْ عَشَاءٍ؟» قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ قَدْ تُصُدِّقَ عَلَى فُلَانَةَ بِعُضْوٍ مِنْ لَحْمٍ وَقَدْ صَنَعْتُهُ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «قَرِّبُوهُ فَقَدْ بَلَغَتْ مَحَلَّهَا فَأَكَلَ مِنْهَا»  

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ said, "Whoever wears silk in this world, Allah will clothe him on the Day of Resurrection in a garment of fire or a garment of [Hell]fire."  

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «مَنْ لَبِسَ الْحَرِيرَ فِي الدُّنْيَا أَلْبَسُهُ اللهُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ ثَوْبًا مِنْ نَارٍ أَوْ ثَوْبًا مِنْ نَارِهِ»  

[Machine] "The Prophet ﷺ said, 'Whoever wears silk in this world, Allah will make them wear a garment of fire.'"  

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ «مَنْ لَبِسَ الْحَرِيرَ فِي الدُّنْيَا لَبَّسَهُ اللهُ ثَوْبًا مِنْ نَارٍ»  

[Machine] "The Prophet, ﷺ , used to dislike eating until the smoke of his cooking fire goes away."  

«أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ كَانَ يَكْرَهُ أَنْ يُؤْكَلَ الطَّعَامُ حَتَّى يَذْهَبَ فَوْرَةَ دُخَانِهِ»  

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ captured Safiyyah bint Huyayy ibn Akhtab from the Banu Nadir tribe on the day of Khaybar, while she was a bride of Kinanah ibn Abi al-Huqayq.  

«سَبَى رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ صَفِيَّةَ بِنْتَ حُيَيِّ بْنِ أَخْطَبَ مِنْ بَنِي النَّضِيرِ يَوْمَ خَيْبَرَ وَهِيَ عَرُوسٌ بِكِنَانَةِ بْنِ أَبِي الْحُقَيْقِ»  

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ captured Safiyyah bint Huyayy from the tribe of Banu Nadir, and she was among those whom Allah bestowed His favor upon.  

«سَبَى رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ صَفِيَّةَ بِنْتَ حُيَيٍّ مِنْ بَنِي النَّضِيرِ وَكَانَتْ مِمَّا أَفَاءَ اللهُ عَلَيْهِ»  

A’ishah said “Safiyyah was called after the word safi (a special portion of the Prophet).” (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 2994)  

«كَانَتْ صَفِيَّةُ مِنَ الصَّفِيِّ»  

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ descended upon Khaybar, and Safiyah, a bride, saw in her dream as if the sun had descended and fallen on her chest. She narrated this to her husband, and he said, "By Allah, you have desired nothing but this king who has descended with us." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ opened her and commanded her husband to be patient and handed her over to the young men from among the Prophet's ﷺ companions to marry her. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then presented them with a cluster of dates, saying, "Have the wedding feast for the Messenger of Allah ﷺ upon Safiyah."  

نَزَلَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ خَيْبَرَ وَصَفِيَّةُ عَرُوسٌ فِي مَجَاسِدِهَا فَرَأَتْ فِي الْمَنَامِ كَأَنَّ الشَّمْسَ نَزَلَتْ حَتَّى وَقَعَتْ عَلَى صَدْرِهَا فَقَصَّتْ ذَلِكَ عَلَى زَوْجِهَا فَقَالَ وَاللهِ مَا تَمَنَّيْنَ إِلَّا هَذَا الْمَلِكَ الَّذِي نَزَلَ بِنَا فَفَتَحَهَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَضَرَبَ عُنُقَ زَوْجِهَا صَبْرًا وَتَعَرِّضَ مِنْ هُنَاكَ مِنْ فِتْيَةِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ لِيَتَزَوَّجَهَا حَتَّى أَلْقَى لَهُمْ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ تَمْرًا عَلَى مُنْتَصَفٍ فَقَالَ «كُلُوا وَلِيمَةَ رَسُولِ اللهِ عَلَى صَفِيَّةَ»  

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ said to her, "What is this greenness in your eyes?" She said, "I saw in my dream as a sleeper sees, a moon falling into my lap, and it soothed me." He said, "Do you wish to be the queen of Yathrib (Medina)?" She said, "And what is more hated to me than the Messenger of Allah has killed my father and my husband? He has not stopped apologizing to me until he said, 'O Safiyyah, surely your father mixed his line (i.e., genealogy) with the Arabs, and tried to do what they do.'"  

لَهَا النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «مَا هَذِهِ الْخُضْرَةُ بِعَيْنَيْكِ؟» فَقَالَتْ قُلْتُ لِزَوْجِي إِنِّي رَأَيْتُ فِيمَا يَرَى النَّائِمِ قَمَرًا وَقَعَ فِي حِجْرِي فَلَطَمَنِي وَقَالَ أَتُرِيدِينَ مَلِكَ يَثْرِبَ؟ قَالَتْ وَمَا كَانَ أَبْغَضُ إِلَيَّ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ قَتَلَ أَبِي وَزَوْجِي فَمَا زَالَ يَعْتَذِرُ إِلَيَّ فَقَالَ «يَا صَفِيَّةُ إِنَّ أَبَاكِ أَلَّبَ عَلَى الْعَرَبَ وَفَعَلَ وَفَعَلَ» حَتَّى ذَهَبَ ذَاكَ مِنْ نَفْسِي  

Anas bin ‘Malik said “The Prophet ﷺ manumitted Safiyyah and made her manumission her dower.” (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 2054)  

«أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ أَعْتَقَ صَفِيَّةَ وَجَعَلَ عِتْقَهَا صَدَاقَهَا»  

Anas bin ‘Malik said “The Prophet ﷺ manumitted Safiyyah and made her manumission her dower.” (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 2054)  

«أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ أَعْتَقَ صَفِيَّةَ وَجَعَلَ عِتْقَهَا صَدَاقَهَا»  

Messenger of Allah ﷺ manumitted Safiyya and regarded her manumission as her Mahr. (Using translation from Bukhārī 5086)  

«أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ أَعْتَقَ صَفِيَّةَ وَجَعَلَ عِتْقَهَا صَدَاقَهَا»  

Anas bin ‘Malik said “The Prophet ﷺ manumitted Safiyyah and made her manumission her dower.” (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 2054)  

«أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ أَعْتَقَ صَفِيَّةَ وَجَعَلَ عِتْقَهَا صَدَاقَهَا»  

Anas bin ‘Malik said “The Prophet ﷺ manumitted Safiyyah and made her manumission her dower.” (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 2054)  

«أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ أَعْتَقَ صَفِيَّةَ وَجَعَلَ عِتْقَهَا صَدَاقَهَا»  

[Machine] "He informed him that the Prophet ﷺ divorced Safiyyah during her menstrual period."  

أَخْبَرَهُ «أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ اسْتَبْرَأَ صَفِيَّةَ بِحَيْضَةٍ»  

The Prophet ﷺ held a wedding feast for Safiyyah with meal and dates. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 3744)  

«أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ أَوْلَمَ عَلَى صَفِيَّةَ بِسَوِيقٍ وَتَمْرٍ»  

[Machine] A Jewish girl was crying, so the Prophet ﷺ entered upon her and asked, "What is the matter with you?" She said, "Hafsah told me that I am the daughter of a Jew." The Prophet ﷺ said to her, "Indeed, you are the daughter of a prophet, and your uncle is also a prophet, and you are under the care of a prophet, so what makes you so proud?" Then he said, "Fear Allah, O Hafsah."  

بِنْتُ يَهُودِيٍّ فَبَكَتْ فَدَخَلَ عَلَيْهَا النَّبِيُّ ﷺ وَهِيَ تَبْكِي فَقَالَ «مَا شَأْنُكِ؟» قَالَتْ قَالَتْ لِي حَفْصَةُ أَنِّي بِنْتُ يَهُودِيٍّ فَقَالَ لَهَا النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «إِنَّكِ ابْنَةُ نَبِيٍّ وَإِنَّ عَمَّكِ لِنَبِيٌّ وَإِنَّكِ تَحْتَ نَبِيٍّ فَبِمَ تَفْخَرُ عَلَيْكِ؟» ثُمَّ قَالَ «اتَّقِي اللهَ يَا حَفْصَةُ»  

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , found Safiyah with something. Safiyah said to me, "Can you please the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , on my behalf, and you shall have my day?" So, I wore a veil that was dyed with saffron and sprinkled it with water. Then, I came and sat next to the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , and he said to me, "What is with you is not your day." So, I said, "That is the grace of Allah, He gives it to whom He wills." And I informed him of the news, and he was pleased with her.  

وَجَدَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ عَلَى صَفِيَّةَ فِي شَيْءٍ فَقَالَتْ لِي صَفِيَّةُ هَلْ لَكِ أَنْ تُرْضِي رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ عَنِّي فَلَكِ يَوْمِي فَلَبِسْتُ خِمَارًا كَانَتْ لِي مَصْبُوغًا بِزَعْفَرَانٍ وَنَضَحْتُهُ بِمَاءٍ ثُمَّ جِئْتُ فَجَلَسْتُ إِلَى جَنْبِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ لِي «إِلَيْكِ عَنِّي فَإِنَّهُ لَيْسَ بِيَوْمِكِ» فَقُلْتُ ذَلِكَ فَضْلُ اللهِ يُؤْتِيهِ مَنْ يَشَاءُ وَأَخْبَرْتُهُ الْخَبَرَ فَرَضِيَ عَنْهَا
