Ka'b reported that Messenger of Allah ﷺ said that the similitude of a believer is that of a standing crop in a field which is shaken by wind and then it comes to its original position but it stands at its roots. The similitude of a non-believer is that of a cypress tree which stands on its roots and nothing shakes it but it is uprooted (with) one (violent stroke). (Using translation from Muslim 2810a)  

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «مَثَلُ الْمُؤْمِنِ كَمَثَلِ الْخَامَةِ مِنَ الزَّرْعِ تُقَلِّبُهَا الرِّيحُ تَصْرَعُهَا مَرَّةً وَتَعْدِلُهَا أُخْرَى وَمَثَلُ الْكَافِرِ كَمَثَلِ الْأَرْزَةِ الْمُجْذِبَةِ عَلَى أَصْلِهَا لَا يُفَيِّئُهَا شَيْءٌ حَتَّى يَكُونَ انْجِفَافُهَا مَرَّةً وَاحِدَةً»  

[Machine] "He saw the Prophet ﷺ eating with three fingers, then I saw him licking his three fingers when he wanted to wipe them."  

«أَنَّهُ رَأَى النَّبِيَّ ﷺ يَأْكُلُ بِثَلَاثِ أَصَابِعَ ثُمَّ رَأَيْتُهُ لَعِقَ أَصَابِعَهُ الثَّلَاثَ حِينَ أَرَادَ أَنْ يَمْسَحَهَا»  

"Two wolves free among sheep are no more destructive to them than a man's desire for wealth and honor is to his religion." (Using translation from Tirmidhī 2376)  

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «مَا ذِئْبَانِ ضَارِيَانِ أُرْسِلَا فِي غَنْمٍ بِأَفْسَدَ لَهَا مِنْ حِرْصِ الْمَرْءِ عَلَى الْمَالِ وَالشَّرَفِ لِدِينِهِ»  

[Machine] "That they had a black slave girl who slaughtered a sheep for them in Marwah, so the Prophet ﷺ was asked about that and he ordered us to eat it".  

«أَنَّ جَارِيَةً لَهُمْ سَوْدَاءَ ذَبَحَتْ شَاةً لَهُمْ بِمَرْوَةٍ فَسَأَلَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ عَنْ ذَلِكَ فَأَمَرَنَا بِأَكْلِهَا»  

None but the believer would be admitted into Paradise, and the days of Mina' are the days meant for eating and drinking. (Using translation from Muslim 1142a)  

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ بَعَثَهُ وَأَوْسَ بْنَ الْحَدَثَانِ أَيَّامَ التَّشْرِيقِ فَنَادَى «أَلَا إِنَّهُ لَا يَدْخُلُ الْجَنَّةَ إِلَّا مُؤْمِنٌ وَأَيَّامُ مِنًى أَيَّامُ أَكْلٍ وَشُرْبٍ»  

[Machine] Ka'b ibn Malik, the Prophet ﷺ passed by him while he was chanting.  

كَعْبُ بْنُ مَالِكٍ إِنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ مَرَّ بِهِ وَهُوَ يُنْشِدُ  

[Machine] A girl came to graze my sheep, and the wolf ate one of the sheep. So, I hit the girl's face, but then I felt remorseful. I went to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, "O Messenger of Allah, if I had known that she was a believer, I would have freed her." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ asked the girl, "Who am I?" She replied, "You are the Messenger of Allah." He then asked, "Who is Allah?" She responded, "He is the one in the heavens." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Free her, for she is a believer."  

جَاءَتْ جَارِيَةٌ تَرْعَى غَنَمًا لِي فَأَكَلَ الذِّئْبُ شَاةً فَضَرَبْتُ وَجْهَ الْجَارِيَةِ فَنَدِمْتُ فَأَتَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ لَوْ أَعْلَمُ أَنَّهَا مُؤْمِنَةٌ لَأَعْتَقْتُهَا فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لِلْجَارِيَةِ «مَنْ أَنَا؟» قَالَتْ رَسُولُ اللهِ قَالَ «فَمَنِ اللهُ؟» قَالَتْ الَّذِي فِي السَّمَاءِ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «أَعْتِقْهَا فَإِنَّهَا مُؤْمِنَةٌ»  

[Machine] The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said, "Certain people should stop raising their gaze towards the sky, or else their sight will be taken away from them."  

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «لَيَنْتَهِيَنَّ أَقْوَامٌ عَنْ رَفْعِهِمْ أَبْصَارَهُمْ إِلَى السَّمَاءِ أَوْ لَيَخْطَفَنَّ أَبْصَارَهُمْ»  

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Whoever seeks knowledge for one of three reasons will be afflicted by it: to impress fools, to show off to the scholars, or to attract people's attention to himself. He will be spoken harshly about."  

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مَنْ طَلَبَ الْعِلْمَ لِإِحْدَى ثَلَاثٍ يُمَارِي بِهِ السُّفَهَاءَ أَوْ يُبَاهِي بِهِ الْعُلَمَاءَ أَوْ يَسْتَجِيرُ وُجُوهَ النَّاسِ إِلَيْهِ فَقَالَ فِيهِ كَلَامًا شَدِيدًا  

[Machine] On the day of Uhud, when we advanced towards the people, I was the first one to recognize him. So, I said, "This is the Messenger of Allah ﷺ." He signaled to me with his hand to keep quiet. Then, he clothed me for his Ummah, and clothed his Ummah for me. Indeed, I was struck until I received about twenty or he said, "twelve" wounds. Every person who strikes me thinks that I am the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.  

لَمَّا كَانَ يَوْمُ أُحُدٍ وَصِرْنَا إِلَى الشِّعْبِ كُنْتُ أَوَّلَ مَنْ عَرَفَهُ فَقُلْتُ هَذَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَأَشَارَ إِلَيَّ بِيَدِهِ أَنِ اسْكُتْ ثُمَّ أَلْبَسَنِي لَأْمَتَهُ وَلَبِسَ لَأْمَتِي فَلَقَدْ ضُرِبْتُ حَتَّى جُرِحْتُ عِشْرِينَ أَوْ قَالَ «بِضْعَةَ عَشَرَ جُرْحًا كُلُّ مَنْ يَضْرِبُنِي يَحْسِبُنِي رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ»  

[Machine] Twelve men from a group called Al-Aqaba were commanded by the Messenger of Allah ﷺ to meet with seventy men in the following year. We stayed for a year where each of us would travel to his companion with food, provisions, and information until seventy men met with him from us.  

اثْنَا عَشَرَ رَجُلًا مِنَ الْعَقَبَةِ وَقَدْ أَمَرَهُمْ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَنْ يُوَافُوهُ سَبْعِينَ رَجُلًا الْعَامَ الْمُقْبِلَ أَقَمْنَا سَنَةً يَمْشِي أَحَدُنَا إِلَى صَاحِبِهِ بِالسَّمْعِ وَالرَّحْلِ وَالْمَطْعَمِ حَتَّى وَافَاهُ مِنَّا سَبْعُونَ رَجُلًا»  

[Machine] Ka'b, I was not part of an expedition that was easier on the back and in terms of provisions than the one for which the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had set out. When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ left, I said, 'I will prepare myself tomorrow and catch up with him.' So I took my equipment, but I did not leave it alone that evening. Then I said, 'I will find my equipment tomorrow and the people are near, so I will catch up with them.' But I did not leave it alone that evening either. Then when it was the third day, I took my equipment and prepared myself, but I did not leave it alone that evening. So I said, 'No, the people will soon leave three times.' So I stayed behind. When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ arrived, the people started giving their excuses to him, so I came until I stood in front of him and said, 'I was not part of an expedition that was easier on the back and in terms of provisions than this expedition. But the Messenger of Allah ﷺ turned away from me and ordered the people not to speak to us, and he ordered our wives to stay away from us.' He said, 'So I walled myself off for a day. Then one day, I found myself with Jabir bin 'Abdullah, so I said, 'O Jabir, for Allah's sake! Did you know that I cheated Allah and His Messenger one day?' So he kept silent and did not speak to me. Then one day, while I was at a corner, I heard a man on the roof calling, 'Ka'b, Ka'b, give us glad tidings!'  

كَعْبٌ مَا كُنْتُ فِي غَزَاةٍ أَيْسَرَ لِلظَّهْرِ وَالنَّفَقَةِ مِنِّي فِي تِلْكَ الْغَزَاةِ لَمَّا خَرَجَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ قُلْتُ أَتَجَهَّزُ غَدًا ثُمَّ أَلْحَقُهُ فَأَخَذْتُ فِي جَهَازِي فَأَمْسَيْتُ وَلَمْ أَفْرَغْ ثُمَّ قُلْتُ أَجِدُّ فِي جَهَازِي غَدًا وَالنَّاسُ قَرِيبٌ بَعْدُ فَأَلْحَقُهُمْ فَأَمْسَيْتُ وَلَمْ أَفْرَغْ فَلَمَّا كَانَ يَوْمُ الثَّالِثِ أَخَذْتُ فِي جَهَازِي فَأَمْسَيْتُ وَلَمْ أَفْرَغْ فَقُلْتُ هَيْهَاتَ سَارَ النَّاسُ ثَلَاثًا فَأَقَمْتُ فَلَمَّا قَدِمَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ جَعَلَ النَّاسُ يَعْتَذِرُونَ إِلَيْهِ فَجِئْتُ حَتَّى قُمْتُ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ فَقُلْتُ مَا كُنْتُ فِي غَزْوَةٍ أَيْسَرَ لِلظَّهْرِ وَالنَّفَقَةِ مِنِّي فِي هَذِهِ الْغَزَاةِ فَأَعْرَضَ عَنِّي رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَأَمَرَ النَّاسَ أَنْ لَا يُكَلِّمُونَا وَأَمَرَ نِسَاءَنَا أَنْ يَتَجَنَّبْنَ عَنَّا قَالَ فَتَسَوَّرْتُ حَائِطًا ذَاتَ يَوْمٍ فَإِذَا أَنَا بِجَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ فَقُلْتُ أَيْ جَابِرُ‍ نَشَدْتُكَ بِاللهِ هَلْ عَلِمْتَنِي غَشَشْتُ اللهَ وَرَسُولَهُ يَوْمًا قَطُّ؟ فَسَكَتَ عَنِّي فَجَعَلَ لَا يُكَلِّمُنِي فَبَيْنَا أَنَا ذَاتَ يَوْمٍ إِذْ سَمِعْتُ رَجُلًا عَلَى الثَّنِيَّةِ يَقُولُ كَعْبًا كَعْبًا فَدَنَا مِنِّي فَقَالَ بَشِّرُوا كَعْبًا  

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ passed by me while I was engaged in a dispute with someone. He gestured to me with his hand and said, "O Ka'b, take one part and leave the other part."  

مَرَّ عَلِيَّ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ وَأَنَا أَلْزَمُ غَرِيمًا لِي فَأَشَارَ إِلَيَّ بِيَدِهِ فَقَالَ «يَا كَعْبُ خُذِ الشَّطْرَ وَدَعِ الشَّطْرَ»  

[Machine] The Prophet (PBUH) said, "Whoever visits a sick person, it is as if he is plunging into mercy, and when he sits with him, he is interceding for him."  

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ «مِنْ عَادَ مَرِيضًا خَاضَ فِي الرَّحْمَةِ فَإِذَا جَلَسَ عِنْدَهُ اسْتَشْفَعَ فِيهَا»  

[Machine] To marry a Jewish or Christian woman, so he asked the Prophet ﷺ and he prohibited him and said, "It will not protect your faith."  

أَنْ يَتَزَوَّجَ يَهُودِيَّةً أَوْ نَصْرَانِيَّةً فَسَأَلَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَنَهَاهُ وَقَالَ «إِنَّهَا لَا تُحْصِنُكَ»  

[Machine] That Ka'b ibn Ujrah shaved his head, so the Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded him to offer a ransom, so he redeemed himself with a cow.  

أَنَّ كَعْبَ بْنَ عُجْرَةَ حَلَقَ رَأْسَهُ فَأَمَرَهُ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَنْ يَفْتَدِيَ فَافْتَدَى بِبَقَرَةٍ  

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to Ka'b ibn 'Ujrah while he was in a state of ihram, "Did your head's hair bother you?" He said, "Yes, O Messenger of Allah." He said, "Then shave it off and perform atonement, either by fasting for three days or feeding six poor people, giving each poor person a sa' of dates, or by sacrificing a sheep."  

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لِكَعْبِ بْنِ عُجْرَةَ وَهُوَ مُحْرِمٌ «آذَتْكَ دَوَابُّ رَأْسِكَ؟» قَالَ نَعَمْ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ قَالَ «فَاحْلِقْ وَافْتَدِ إِمَّا بِصَوْمِ ثَلَاثَةِ أَيَّامٍ أَوْ تُطْعِمُ سِتَّةَ مَسَاكِينٍ كُلُّ مِسْكِينٍ صَاعٌ مِنْ تَمْرٍ وَإِمَّا أَنْسِكْ شَاةً»  

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , met me and wiped my head and said, "This is sufficient for your harm." Then the lice scattered and he said, "Go and shave your head and give charity to six poor people."  

لَقِيَنِي رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَمَسَحَ رَأْسِي فَقَالَ «كَفَى بِهَذَا أَذًى» فَتَنَاثَرَ الْقَمْلُ فَقَالَ «انْطَلِقْ فَاحْلِقْ وَتَصَدَّقْ عَلَى سِتَّةِ مَسَاكِينٍ»  

[Machine] I saw the Prophet ﷺ licking his three fingers after eating.  

رَأَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ يَلْعَقُ أَصَابِعَهُ الثَّلَاثَ مِنَ الطَّعَامِ  

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The example of the believer is like that of the crop that is swayed by the wind, at times it leans and at times it stands straight. And the example of the disbeliever is like that of a palm tree that remains firm on its roots until it becomes completely dry."  

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «مَثَلُ الْمُؤْمِنِ مِثْلُ الْخَامَةِ مِنَ الزَّرْعِ تُفَيِّئُهَا الرِّيَاحُ تَعْدِلُهَا مَرَّةً وَتَصْرَعُهَا أُخْرَى وَمَثَلُ الْكَافِرِ مِثْلَ الْأَرْزَةِ الْمُجْذِبَةِ عَلَى أَصْلِهَا حَتَّى يَكُونَ انْجِفَافُهَا مَرَّةً وَاحِدَةً»  

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The example of a believer is like a plant that is blown by the wind and then straightened by it, until its time comes. And the example of a disbeliever is like a cedar tree that does not bend until it breaks once."  

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «مَثَلُ الْمُؤْمِنِ كَالْخَامَةِ مِنَ الزَّرْعِ تُفَيِّئُهَا الرِّيَاحُ تَصْرَعُهَا مَرَّةً وَتَعْدِلُهَا مَرَّةً حَتَّى يَأْتِيَهُ أَجَلُهُ وَمَثَلُ الْكَافِرِ كَالْأَرْزَةِ الْمُجْذِبَةِ عَلَى أَصْلِهَا لَا تُفَيِّئُهَا حَتَّى يَكُونَ انْجِفَافُهَا مَرَّةً وَاحِدَةً»  

[Machine] When his excuse was revealed, he went to the Prophet ﷺ and he took his hand and kissed it.  

أَنَّهُ لَمَّا «نَزَلَ عُذْرُهُ أَتَى النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَأَخَذَ بِيَدِهِ فَقَبَّلَهَا»  

[Machine] "I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ eating food and licking his fingers."  

«رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ أَكَلَ طَعَامًا فَلَعِقَ أَصَابِعَهُ»  

[Machine] "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent me to teach about the boundaries of protection."  

«بَعَثَنِي رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أُعَلِّمُ عَلَى حُدُودِ الْحِمَى»  

'Abdullah b. Ka'b reported that his father Ka'b narrated to him that Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to eat with three fingers and when he had finished (eating), he licked them. (Using translation from Muslim 2032c)  

«أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ كَانَ يَأْكُلُ بِثَلَاثِ أَصَابِعَ فَإِذَا فَرَغَ لَعِقَهَا»  

[Machine] "I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ eating food, then licked his three fingers with which he had eaten."  

«رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ أَكَلَ طَعَامًا ثُمَّ لَعِقَ أَصَابِعَهُ الثَّلَاثَ الَّتِي أَكَلَ بِهَا»  

[Machine] On the authority of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , he said, "There will come a time when people will hear the call to Friday prayer, but they will not attend it, or Allah will seal their hearts, and they will be among the negligent."  

عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «لَيَنْتَهِيَنَّ أَقْوَامٌ يَسْمَعُونَ النِّدَاءَ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ ثُمَّ لَا يَأْتُونَهَا أَوْ لَيَطْبَعَنَّ اللهُ عَلَى قُلُوبِهِمْ ثُمَّ لَيَكُونُنَّ مِنَ الْغَافِلِينَ»  

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ ascended the pulpit and said, "I had a vision of the Night of Decree (Laylat al-Qadr), and I was aware of it but then I forgot it. So seek it in the last ten nights, in the odd nights."  

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ رَقِيَ عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ فَقَالَ «رَقِيتُ عَلَيْهِ وَقَدْ عَلِمْتُ لَيْلَةَ الْقَدْرِ فَأُنْسِيتُهَا فَالْتَمِسُوهَا فِي الْعَشْرِ الْأَوَاخِرِ فِي الْوِتْرِ»  

[Machine] Ka'ab ibn Ujrah passed away at the age of seventy-seven in the year fifty-two.  

«تُوُفِّيَ كَعْبُ بْنُ عُجْرَةَ سَنَةَ ثِنْتَيْنِ وَخَمْسِينَ سِنُّهُ سَبْعٌ وَسَبْعُونَ سَنَةً»  

[Machine] Ka'b ibn 'Ujrah died at the age of 75.  

«مَاتَ كَعْبُ بْنُ عُجْرَةَ سَنَةَ ثِنْتَيْنِ وَخَمْسِينَ وَهُوَ ابْنُ خَمْسٍ وَسَبْعِينَ سَنَةً»  

[Machine] "That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to Ka'b ibn 'Ujrah, 'Perhaps your lice are bothering you?' He replied, 'Yes, O Messenger of Allah.' He said, 'Shave your head and give a sheep or its equivalent in charity.'"  

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ لِكَعْبِ بْنِ عُجْرَةَ «لَعَلَّكَ آذَاكَ هَوَامُّ رَأْسِكَ؟» قَالَ نَعَمْ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ قَالَ «احْلِقْ رَأْسَكَ وَاهْدِ بَقَرَةً أَشْعَرَهَا أَوْ قَلَّدَهَا»  

[Machine] "To me, Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'I seek protection in Allah for you, O Ka'ab bin Ujrah, from rulers who will come after me. Whoever flatters them and believes in their lies, and helps them in their oppression, he is not from me, and I am not from him. And whoever does not flatter them, nor believes in their lies, nor helps them in their oppression, he is from me, and I am from him. He will meet me at the Pool.'"  

لِي رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «أُعِيذُكَ بِاللهِ يَا كَعْبُ بْنُ عُجْرَةَ مِنْ أُمَرَاءٍ يَكُونُونَ بَعْدِي فَمَنْ غَشِيَ أَبْوَابَهُمْ وَصَدَّقَهُمْ فِي كَذِبِهِمْ وَأَعَانَهُمْ عَلَى جَوْرِهِمْ فَلَيْسَ مِنِّي وَلَسْتُ مِنْهُ وَمَنْ غَشِيَ أَبْوَابَهُمْ أَوْ لَمْ يَغْشَهَا فَلَمْ يُصَدِّقْهُمْ بِكَذِبِهِمْ وَلَمْ يُعِنْهُمْ عَلَى جَوْرِهِمْ فَهُوَ مِنِّي وَأَنَا مِنْهُ وَسَيَرِدُ عَلَى الْحَوْضِ»  

[Machine] "To the messenger of Allah ﷺ , I seek refuge with Allah, O Ka'b bin 'Ajrah, from rulers who will come after me. Whoever covers their doors and supports them in their falsehood and assists them in their injustice, he is not from me and I am not from him. And whoever does not cover their doors or believe in their falsehood and does not assist them in their injustice, he is from me and I am from him. And he will come to the Pond (on the Day of Judgment)."  

لِي رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «أُعِيذُكَ بِاللهِ يَا كَعْبُ بْنُ عُجْرَةَ مِنْ أُمَرَاءٍ يَكُونُونَ بَعْدِي فَمَنْ غَشِيَ أَبْوَابَهُمْ وَصَدَّقَهُمْ فِي كَذِبِهِمْ وَأَعَانَهُمْ عَلَى جَوْرِهِمْ فَلَيْسَ مِنِّي وَلَسْتُ مِنْهُ وَمَنْ غَشِيَ أَبْوَابَهُمْ أَوْ لَمْ يَغْشَهَا فَلَمْ يُصَدِّقْهُمْ بِكَذِبِهِمْ وَلَمْ يُعِنْهُمْ عَلَى جَوْرِهِمْ فَهُوَ مِنِّي وَأَنَا مِنْهُ وَسَيَرِدُ عَلَى الْحَوْضِ»  

[Machine] "To the Messenger of Allah ﷺ: I seek refuge in Allah, O Ka'b ibn 'Ujrah, from leaders who will come after me. Whoever supports them in their falsehoods, believes in their lies, and assists them in their oppression, he is not of me and I am not of him. But whoever does not support them in their falsehoods, does not believe in their lies, and does not assist them in their oppression, he is of me and I am of him. He will join me at the Pond."  

لِي رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «أُعِيذُكَ بِاللهِ يَا كَعْبُ بْنُ عُجْرَةَ مِنْ أُمَرَاءٍ يَكُونُونَ بَعْدِي فَمَنْ غَشِيَ أَبْوَابَهُمْ وَصَدَّقَهُمْ فِي كَذِبِهِمْ وَأَعَانَهُمْ عَلَى جَوْرِهِمْ فَلَيْسَ مِنِّي وَلَسْتُ مِنْهُ وَمَنْ غَشِيَ أَبْوَابَهُمْ أَوْ لَمْ يَغْشَهَا فَلَمْ يُصَدِّقْهُمْ بِكَذِبِهِمْ وَلَمْ يُعِنْهُمْ عَلَى جَوْرِهِمْ فَهُوَ مِنِّي وَأَنَا مِنْهُ وَسَيَرِدُ عَلَى الْحَوْضِ»  

[Machine] On the authority of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ , he said: "Whoever brings ease to someone in financial difficulty or forgives their debt, Allah will shade them on the Day when there is no shade except His shade."  

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «مَنْ أَنْظَرَ مُعْسِرًا أَوْ يَسَّرَ عَلَيْهِ أَظَلَّهُ اللهُ فِي ظِلِّهِ يَوْمَ لَا ظِلَّ إِلَّا ظِلُّهُ»  

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ saw him while his nose was bleeding, so he said, "Does your nosebleed hurt you?" He said yes. So he commanded him to perform ihram while they were in Hudaybiyyah, and it was not known that they could perform ihram there, and they were hoping to enter Makkah. So Allah revealed the fidyah, and the Messenger of Allah commanded him to feed a group of six poor people or sacrifice a sheep or fast for three days.  

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ رَآهُ وَهَوَامُّهُ تَسَّاقَطُ عَلَى وَجْهِهِ فَقَالَ «أَيُؤْذِيكَ هَوَامُّكَ؟» قَالَ نَعَمْ فَأَمَرَهُ أَنْ يَحْلِقَ وَهُمْ بِالْحُدَيْبِيَةِ وَلَمْ يَتَبَيَّنْ أَنَّهُمْ يَحْلِقُونَ بِهَا وَهُمْ عَلَى طَمَعٍ أَنْ يَدْخُلُوا مَكَّةَ فَأَنْزَلَ اللهُ ﷻ الْفِدْيَةَ فَأَمَرَهُ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَنْ يُطْعِمَ فَرَقًا بَيْنَ سِتَّةِ مَسَاكِينٍ أَوْ يَهْدِيَ شَاةً أَوْ يَصُومَ ثَلَاثَةَ أَيَّامٍ  

[Machine] That Ka'b ibn Ujrah, the brother of Bani Salim, suffered a head injury while he was in Hudaybiyah with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and was isolated. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded him to fast for three days, or feed six poor people, or slaughter a sheep. And this verse was revealed in this regard.  

أَنَّ كَعْبَ بْنَ عُجْرَةَ أَخَا بَنِي سَالِمٍ أَصَابَهُ أَذًى مِنْ رَأْسَهِ وَهُوَ بِالْحُدَيْبِيَةِ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ مَحْصُورٌ «فَأَمَرَهُ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَنْ يَصُومَ ثَلَاثَةَ أَيَّامٍ أَوْ يُطْعِمَ سِتَّةَ مَسَاكِينٍ أَوْ يَذْبَحَ شَاةً وَفِيهِ نَزَلَتْ هَذِهِ الْآيَةُ»  

[Machine] And that he had lice in his head, so the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to him while he was kindling a fire beneath his pot, and he said to him, "It seems that the heat is bothering your head?" He said, "Yes." He said, "Shave your head and perform a sacrifice." He said, "I cannot find a sacrifice." He said, "Then feed six poor people." He said, "I cannot find [poor people]." He said, "Then fast for three days." So, he shaved his head and fasted.  

وَأَنَّهُ قَمِلَ رَأْسُهُ فَأَتَى عَلَيْهِ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَهُوَ يُوقِدُ تَحْتَ قِدْرٍ لَهُ فَقَالَ لَهُ «كَأَنَّكَ» يُؤْذِيكَ هَوَامُّ رَأْسِكَ؟ قَالَ أَجَلْ قَالَ «احْلِقْ وَاهْدِ هَدْيًا» قَالَ مَا أَجِدُ هَدْيًا قَالَ «فَأَطْعِمْ سِتَّةَ مَسَاكِينٍ» قَالَ مَا أَجِدُ قَالَ «فَصُمْ ثَلَاثَةَ أَيَّامٍ» فَحَلَقْتُ وَصُمْتُ  

[Machine] This verse was revealed while we were with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in Hudaybiyyah, and we were in a state of ihram. The idolaters had also joined us. I had excess hair, so I started shaking it off my face. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ passed by and said, "Is your hair bothering you?" I replied, "Yes, O Messenger of Allah." He said, "Shave it off." Then this verse was revealed: "So, a payment in atonement is to either fast for three days, or feed six needy persons, or offer a sacrifice." He said, "Fast for three days, or feed six needy persons, or sacrifice a sheep."  

نَزَلَتْ هَذِهِ الْآيَةُ فِي كُنَّا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فِي الْحُدَيْبِيَةِ وَنَحْنُ مُحْرِمُونَ وَقَدْ حَضَرَنَا الْمُشْرِكُونَ وَكَانَتْ لِي وَفْرَةٌ فَجَعَلْتِ الْهَوَامُّ تَسَّاقَطُ عَلَى وَجْهِي فَمَرَّ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ «أَيُؤْذِيكَ هَوَامُّ رَأْسِكَ؟» قُلْتُ نَعَمْ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ قَالَ «فَاحْلِقْ» قَالَ فَنَزَلَتْ هَذِهِ الْآيَةُ {فَفِدْيَةٌ مِنْ صِيَامٍ أَوْ صَدَقَةٍ أَوْ نُسُكٍ} قَالَ «فَالصِّيَامُ ثَلَاثَةُ أَيَّامٍ وَالصَّدَقَةُ سِتَّةُ مَسَاكِينٍ وَالنُّسُكُ شَاةٌ»  

[Machine] Al-Qa'nabi said: Bakr bin Sahl narrated to us from Abdullah bin Yusuf, who narrated to us from Abdullah bin Ahmad bin Hanbal, who narrated to me from Mus'ab bin Abdullah al-Zubayri, who narrated to us from Yahya bin Ayoub al-Alafi, who narrated to us from Yahya bin Bukair, all of them from Malik bin Anas, from Humaid bin Qais, from Mujahid, from Abdur Rahman bin Abi Layla, from Ka'b bin Ujrah, that the Prophet ﷺ said: "Perhaps your hair has bothered you?" So I said to him, "Yes, O Messenger of Allah." He said: "Shave your head and observe fasting for three days, or feed six poor people, or slaughter a sheep."  

ثنا الْقَعْنَبِيُّ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا بَكْرُ بْنُ سَهْلٍ ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ يُوسُفَ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ حَنْبَلٍ حَدَّثَنِي مُصْعَبُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الزُّبَيْرِيُّ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَيُّوبٍ الْعَلَّافُ ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ بُكَيْرٍ كُلُّهُمْ عَنْ مَالِكِ بْنِ أَنَسَ عَنْ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ قَيْسٍ عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى عَنْ كَعْبِ بْنِ عُجْرَة أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ «لَعَلَّكَ آذَاكَ هَوَامُّكَ؟» فَقُلْتُ لَهُ نَعَمْ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ قَالَ «احْلِقْ رَأْسَكَ وَصُمْ ثَلَاثَةَ أَيَّامٍ أَوْ أَطْعِمْ سِتَّةَ مَسَاكِينٍ أَوِ انْسُكْ شَاةً»  

[Machine] Al-Qa'nabi narrated to us, and Bakr ibn Sahl narrated to us, and Abdullah ibn Yusuf narrated to us, and Yahya ibn Ayoub al-Alafi narrated to us, and Yahya ibn Bukayr narrated to us, and Abdullah ibn Ahmad ibn Hanbal narrated to us, and Mus'ab ibn Abdullah al-Zubayri narrated to us, all of them narrated from Malik, from Abd al-Karim ibn Malik al-Jazari, from Mujahid, from Abd al-Rahman ibn Abi Layla, from Ka'b ibn Ujrah, that he was with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and he had lice in his head. So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded him to shave his head and said, "Fast for three days or feed six poor individuals, giving half a sa' to each person, or sacrifice a sheep. What did you do?" He replied, "I chose to perform the sacrifice, so I am exempted."  

ثنا الْقَعْنَبِيُّ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا بَكْرُ بْنُ سَهْلٍ ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ يُوسُفَ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَيُّوبٍ الْعَلَّافُ ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ بُكَيْرٍ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ حَنْبَلٍ ثنا مُصْعَبُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الزُّبَيْرِيُّ كُلُّهُمْ عَنْ مَالِكٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ الْكَرِيمِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ الْجَزَرِيِّ عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى عَنْ كَعْبِ بْنِ عُجْرَةَ أَنَّهُ كَانَ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَآذَاهُ الْقَمْلُ فِي رَأْسِهِ فَأَمَرَهُ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَنْ يَحْلِقَ رَأْسَهُ وَقَالَ «صُمْ ثَلَاثَةَ أَيَّامٍ أَوْ أَطْعِمْ سِتَّةَ مَسَاكِينٍ مُدَّيْنِ مُدَّيْنِ لِكُلِّ إِنْسَانٍ أَوِ انْسُكْ شَاةً أَيَّ ذَلِكَ فَعَلْتَ أَجْزَأَ عَنْكَ»  

[Machine] I went to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ during Umrah, and he saw lice on my head. He asked, "O Ka'b, do your lice harm you?" I replied, "Yes." He then said, "Shave your head, sacrifice a sheep, fast for three days, or feed six poor people."  

لِي رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فِي عُمْرَةٍ وَرَأَى الْقَمْلَ فِي رَأْسِي «يَا كَعْبُ أَيُؤْذِيكَ هَوَامُّكَ؟» قُلْتُ نَعَمْ قَالَ «فَاحْلِقْ وَاذْبَحْ شَاةً أَوْ صُمْ ثَلَاثَةَ أَيَّامٍ أَوْ أَطْعِمْ سِتَّةَ مَسَاكِينٍ»  

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ passed by me in Hudaybiyah while I was cooking a pot, and lice were crawling all over my face. He said, "Does the lice bother you?" I said, "Yes." He said, "Shave off your hair, then observe fast for three days, or slaughter a sheep, or feed six poor people, and give them something to wear as well."  

مَرَّ بِي رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ بِالْحُدَيْبِيَةِ وَأَنَا أَطْبُخُ قِدْرًا وَالْقَمْلُ يَتَهَافَتُ عَلَى وَجْهِي فَقَالَ «أَيُؤْذِيكَ هَوَامُّ رَأْسِكَ؟» قُلْتُ نَعَمْ قَالَ «فَاحْلِقْ ثُمَّ صُمْ ثَلَاثَةَ أَيَّامٍ أَوِ اذْبَحْ شَاةً أَوْ أَطْعِمْ فَرَقًا بَيْنَ سِتَّةِ مَسَاكِينٍ»  

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ passed by Ka'b ibn Ujrah, who was suffering from a headache. The Prophet ﷺ ordered him to shave his head. Then, revelation came to the Prophet ﷺ and he said, "If you wish, fast for three days, or if you wish, feed six poor people, or if you wish, sacrifice a sheep."  

مَرَّ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ بِكَعْبِ بْنِ عُجْرَةَ وَقَدْ آذَاهُ هَوَامُّ رَأْسِهِ فَأَمَرَهُ أَنْ يَحْلِقَ فَجَاءَهُ الْوَحْيُ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «إِنْ شِئْتَ فَصُمْ ثَلَاثَةَ أَيَّامٍ وَإِنْ شِئْتَ فَرَقًا بَيْنَ سِتَّةِ مَسَاكِينٍ وَإِنْ شِئْتَ فَاذْبَحْ شَاةً»  

(Reporting the speech of Kaʿb bin Umra) Messenger of Allah ﷺ saw him (i.e. Kaʿb) while the lice were falling on his face. He asked (him), "Have your lice troubled you?" He replied in the affirmative. So, he ordered him to get his head shaved while he was at Al-Hudaibiya. At that time they were not permitted to finish their Ihram, and were still hoping to enter Mecca. So, Allah revealed the verses of Al-Fidya. Messenger of Allah ﷺ ordered him to feed six poor persons with one Faraq of food or to slaughter one sheep (as a sacrifice) or to fast for three days. أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ رَآهُ وَقَمْلُهُ يَسْقُطُ عَلَى وَجْهِهِ فَقَالَ «أَيُؤْذِيكَ هَوَامُّكَ؟» قَالَ نَعَمْ فَأَمَرَهُ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَنْ يَحْلِقَ بِالْحُدَيْبِيَةِ لَمْ يَتَبَيَّنْ لَهُمْ أَنَّهُمْ يَحْلِقُونَ وَهُمْ عَلَى طَمَعٍ أَنْ يَدْخُلُوا مَكَّةَ فَأَنْزَلَ اللهُ ﷻ الْفِدْيَةَ فَأَمَرَهُ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَنْ يُطْعِمَ فَرَقًا بَيْنَ سِتَّةِ مَسَاكِينٍ أَوْ يَهْدِيَ شَاةً أَوْ يَصُومَ ثَلَاثَةَ أَيَّامٍ  

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ passed by me in Al-Hudaybiyah while I was boiling a pot, and lice were swarming on my face. He asked, "Do the lice bother you?" I replied, "Yes." He said, "Shave your head, then observe three days of fasting or sacrifice a sheep, and feed six needy people."  

مَرَّ بِي النَّبِيُّ ﷺ وَأَنَا بِالْحُدَيْبِيَةِ أَطْبُخُ قِدْرًا وَالْقَمْلُ يَتَهَافَتُ عَلَى وَجْهِي فَقَالَ «أَيُؤْذِيكَ هَوَامُّ رَأْسِكَ؟» قُلْتُ نَعَمْ قَالَ «فَاحْلِقْ ثُمَّ صُمْ ثَلَاثَةَ أَيَّامٍ أَوِ اذْبَحْ شَاةً أَوْ أَطْعِمْ فَرَقًا بَيْنَ سِتَّةِ مَسَاكِينٍ»  

[Machine] The Prophet Mohammed ﷺ saw me and there was lice falling on my face. He asked, "Does your lice bother you?" I replied, "Yes." He then commanded me to shave my head, while they were in Hudaybiyah and it was not apparent to them that they were going to enter Mecca. Allah (swt) revealed the expiation and the Prophet Mohammed ﷺ commanded me to either feed six poor individuals, or fast for three days, or sacrifice a sheep.  

رَآنِي رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَقَمْلِي يَتَسَاقَطُ عَلَى وَجْهِي فَقَالَ «أَيُؤْذِيكَ هَوَامُّكَ هَذِهِ؟» فَقُلْتُ نَعَمْ قَالَ فَأَمَرَنِي أَنْ أَحْلِقَ رَأْسِي وَهُمْ بِالْحُدَيْبِيَةِ وَلَمْ يَتَبَيَّنْ لَهُمْ أَنَّهُمْ يَحْلِقُونَ بِهَا وَهُمْ عَلَى طَمَعٍ أَنْ يَدْخُلُوا مَكَّةَ فَأَنْزَلَ اللهُ ﷻ الْفِدْيَةَ فَأَمَرَنِي رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَنْ أَطْعِمَ فَرَقًا بَيْنَ سِتَّةِ مَسَاكِينٍ أَوْ أَصُومَ ثَلَاثَةَ أَيَّامٍ أَوْ أَذْبَحَ شَاةً  

[Machine] "In the context of this verse, I approached the Prophet ﷺ and he said, 'Come closer.' So I moved closer two or three times, and he asked, 'Does your desire harm you?' I replied, 'Yes.' So he advised me to fast or give charity or perform any voluntary acts of worship that are easy for me."  

فِيَّ نَزَلَتْ هَذِهِ الْآيَةُ أَتَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَقَالَ «ادْنُهْ» فَدَنَوْتُ مَرَّتَيْنِ أَوْ ثَلَاثًا فَقَالَ «أَيُؤْذِيكَ هَوَامُّكَ؟» قُلْتُ نَعَمْ فَأَمَرَنِي بِالصِّيَامِ أَوْ صَدَقَةٍ أَوْ نُسُكٍ مَا تَيَسَّرَ  

[Machine] I came to the Prophet ﷺ and he said, "Approach." So I approached him two or three times, and he said, "Does your head hurt?" Ibn 'Awn said, "Yes." So he ordered me to fast or give charity or perform any acts of worship that are affordable. Ibn 'Awn said, "I forgot what he said about fasting and charity, so I remembered Ayub Al-Sakhtayani and he said, 'I heard this hadith from him.' I asked, 'How is it?' He said, 'Fast for three days or give charity to six poor people or perform acts of worship as much as you can.'" Ayub used to say, "Does your headache bother you?  

فِيَّ أُنْزِلَتْ هَذِهِ الْآيَةُ فَأَتَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَقَالَ «ادْنُ» فَدَنَوْتُ مَرَّتَيْنِ أَوْ ثَلَاثًا فَقَالَ «أَيُؤْذِيكَ هَوَامُّكَ؟» قَالَ ابْنُ عَوْنٍ وَأَظُنُّهُ قَالَ نَعَمْ «» فَأَمَرَنِي بِصِيَامٍ أَوْ صَدَقَةٍ أَوْ نُسُكٍ مَا تَيَسَّرَ قَالَ ابْنُ عَوْنٍ فَنَسِيتُ مَا قَالَ فِي الصِّيَامِ وَالصَّدَقَةِ فَذَاكَرْتُ أَيُّوبَ السَّخْتِيَانِيَّ فَقَالَ قَدْ سَمِعْتُ هَذَا الْحَدِيثَ مِنْهُ قُلْتُ كَيْفَ هُوَ؟ قَالَ صِيَامُ ثَلَاثَةِ أَيَّامٍ أَوْ صَدَقَةٌ عَلَى سِتَّةِ مَسَاكِينٍ أَوْ نُسُكٌ مَا تَيَسَّرَ وَكَانَ أَيُّوبُ يَقُولُ إِنَّهُ قَالَ أَيُؤْذِيكَ هَوَامُّ رَأْسِكَ؟  

[Machine] Prophet Muhammad came to me during the time of Hudaybiyah, and I had a boil on my back while lice were falling on me. He asked, "Is your head itching?" I replied, "Yes." He said, "Shave your head and feed six poor people, or fast for three days, or sacrifice an animal."  

أَتَى عَلِيَّ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ زَمَنَ الْحُدَيْبِيَةِ وَأَنَا أُوقِدُ تَحْتَ بُرْمَةٍ لِي وَالْقَمْلُ يَتَنَاثَرُ عَلِيَّ فَقَالَ «أَيُؤْذِيكَ هَوَامُّ رَأْسِكَ؟» قُلْتُ نَعَمْ قَالَ «احْلِقْ وَأَطْعِمْ سِتَّةَ مَسَاكِينٍ ثَلَاثَةَ آصُعٍ أَوْ صُمْ ثَلَاثَةَ أَيَّامٍ أَوِ انْسُكْ»
