11. Chapter of Rā (Male) (3/8)
[Machine] "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade an act that was associated with us, and there is blessings and guidance in the command of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ." So they asked, "What is it?" He replied, "The field." So I asked my master, "What is the field?" He said, "Plowing the earth." So I asked, "How did they plow it?" He said, "They plowed it on Wednesdays and with some of the harvest."
[Machine] "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ prohibited riba (usury), that is, taking money for money, and muzabanah, which involves swapping different amounts of the same commodity, and munabadhah, which involves exchanging different amounts of the same commodity with a delay of one of the parties, and he prohibited a person from saying to another person, 'Buy this with a loaned sum and then sell it to me at a reduced price until I purchase it and take possession of it,' and from exchanging dates for dates and debts for debts."
[Machine] "When it was the day of the trench, there was no fortress protected from the fortress of Bani Harith, so the Prophet ﷺ put the women, children, and the weak in it. He said, 'If any of you feels pain, sharpen the sword for me.' A man named Bujdan from the tribe of Tha'labah bin Saad, also known as Bani Jahhash, came to them riding a horse until he reached the origin of the fortress. Then he said to the women, 'Come down to me, it will be better for you.' They moved the sword, and the companions of the Prophet ﷺ saw him. A group of people from the tribe of Bani Harithah, one of them being Zuhayr bin Rafi, stood up and he called out, 'O Bujdan, come forward.' He then went towards him, mounted his horse, and killed him, taking his head to the Prophet ﷺ ."

"I heard the Messenger of Allah say: 'The hand is not to be cut off for (stealing) produce or the spadix of palm trees."' (Using translation from Nasāʾī 4964)
"I heard the Messenger of Allah say: 'The hand is not to be cut off for (stealing) produce or the spadix of palm trees."' (Using translation from Nasāʾī 4960)
11.17 [Machine] Muhammad bin Yahya bin Habban, from Rafi'
“The hand is not to be cut off for (stealing) produce or the spadix of palm trees.” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 2593)
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ prohibited us from doing something that would benefit us, and he also prohibited us from using the earth for some of its produce and using dried leaves. He also prohibited us from earning as a cupper (a person who practices cupping therapy).
[Machine] About the Prophet ﷺ , that he passed by a wall and it amazed him. He said, "Whose is this?" I said, "It is mine." He said, "Where did you get it from?" I said, "I borrowed it." He said, "Do not borrow it for anything."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade us from a matter that was beneficial to us, and he ﷺ forbade us from scratching our heads and eyes with some of what comes out of it and with a discarded leaf. He said, "Whoever has land, let him cultivate it or give it to his brother."
"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade us from a matter that was of benefit for us. When one of us had some land and we would let someone use it for a portion of its produce or some Dirham. He said: 'When one of you has some land then let him grant it to his brother, or let him farm it.'" (Using translation from Tirmidhī 1384)
[Machine] It was narrated from the Prophet ﷺ that he "forbade plowing the white land."
He then went to him along with me. He (Rafi) narrated from some of his uncles in which it was mentioned that Allah's Apostle ﷺ forbade the renting of land. Ibn 'Umar (Allah be pleased with them) then abandoned this practice of renting. (Using translation from Muslim 1547h)
[Machine] My uncles came to us and said, "The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , forbade us from doing something that was beneficial for us, and the obedience of Allah and His Messenger is more beneficial for us." He said, "Whoever has land, let him cultivate it or give it to his brother."
AbuRafi' came to us from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade us from a work which benefited us; but obedience to Allah and His Apostle ﷺ is more beneficial to us. He forbade that one of us cultivates land except the one which he owns or the land which a man lends him (to cultivate). (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 3397)
[Machine] He gave him a third, a fourth, and half of his land, and he stipulated that a third of it be used for grazing, the fourth for farmers, and the remaining half for quenching the spring. He said, "We used to work with iron, and whatever Allah willed, we would benefit from it, until Rafe' bin Khadij came to us and said, 'The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbids you from something that used to benefit you. Obedience to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ is more beneficial for you. When one of you has enough land, let him give it to his brother or abandon it, and do not engage in mutual competition.' Mutual competition means that a person claims to have taken a certain amount of dates from a large amount of palm trees."
[Machine] That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "If one of you becomes self-sufficient with his land, then let him gift it to his brother or leave it."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "If any one of you becomes self-sufficient in his land, then let him give it as a gift to his brother, or leave it."
"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade the Muhaqalah and the Muzabanah." (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 2267)
[Machine] "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade us from the field. And the field is the third and the quarter."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah came to us and forbade us from an action that was beneficial to us, while the command of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ is better. He said, "Whoever has land should cultivate it, bestow it, or leave it as it is." This was mentioned to Tawus, and he said, "Indeed, Ibn Abbas knew better." Ibn Abbas said, "For a man to bestow his land upon his brother is better for him."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ passed by a land of a man from the Ansar who was planting crops and knew that he was in need. So he said, "Who does this belong to?" The man replied, "To so and so, he gave it to me as a reward." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "If he had given it to his brother."
[Machine] I heard Rafee' ibn Khadeej saying: My companions and I went to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , and then they returned to us and said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade you from a matter that used to benefit us, and obeying the Messenger of Allah ﷺ is more beneficial for you. He said, "Let one of you cultivate his land, or give it away as a gift, or leave it barren."
[Machine] Indeed, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade you from an action that used to accompany you. However, obeying the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in what is difficult for you is better than his disobedience in what is easy for you. He forbade you from giving away your land in thirds and quarters, but rather have it cultivated by yourself or by your brother. They then said, "So it will become barren?" He replied, "Leave it, it will become barren."
11.18 [Machine] The narration of Ibn Rafi' ibn Khadeej from his father, and the difference of opinion regarding Mujahid in his narration
[Machine] And he said, "Tell me about Rāfiʿ who Maʿādh bin Jabal worked with during the time of the Messenger of Allah, and he gave the land half and a third?"
[Machine] "The Prophet ﷺ prohibited us from selling the land along with what is in it."
11.20 [Machine] The following heading translates to: "Rifaa'ah ibn Rafi' ibn Khadij from his father.
[Machine] I said, "O Messenger of Allah, I am the most Ansar in terms of land." He said, "Plant." I said, "It is more than that." He said, "Irrigate."
[Machine] That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ passed by him and called him, so he went out to him and walked with him until they reached the mosque. Then he left and performed ablution. Then he returned and the Prophet ﷺ saw the trace of the ablution on him, so the Prophet ﷺ asked him about his ablution. He replied, "I heard your call while I was having intercourse with my wife, so I got up before ejaculation and performed ablution." The Prophet ﷺ then said, "Water is only from water." Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said after that, "If the circumcised part passes the circumcised part, then ghusl (full ablution) is obligatory."
11.22 [Machine] Abdullah ibn Raafi ibn Khadeej, from his father
[Machine] The Prophet of Allah ﷺ used to instruct delaying the Asr (afternoon) prayer.
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , said, "Do not lie about me, for lying about me is not like lying about anyone else."
11.24 [Machine] Sa'id bin Abi Rafi'i bin Khadij, from his father, from his grandfather
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Seek out your neighbor before your own house and your companion before the journey."
[Machine] We were with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ at Dhul Khalifah from Tihama when the people obtained camels and sheep, and they hurried and overcooked the pots. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to them and ordered the pots to be reduced, so they were evenly distributed and ten sheep were exchanged for one goat. We also slaughtered a camel and a man threw an arrow at it, so the Messenger of Allah ﷺ confiscated it. He said, "These animals have offspring like the offspring of wild beasts, so whatever you have left, do this with it." Then Rafa' ibn Khadij approached him and said, "O Messenger of Allah, we fear or hope for an encounter with the enemy, and we do not have meat that can be preserved. Should we slaughter the camels?" The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "If the blood is drained and the name of Allah is mentioned upon it, then eat. Do not eat the teeth or the hooves. I will tell you about this. As for the teeth, they are bones, and as for the hooves, they are the length of an Abyssinian span." Rafa' added, "Then a sick camel fell into a well in the city, so it was taken out by drawing water from it. 'Umar took a piece from it worth a dirham."
