11. Chapter of Rā (Male)
١١۔ بَابُ الرَّاءِ
[Machine] About Ibn Shihab: regarding the naming of those who witnessed the Battle of Badr from the Ansar, then from the Banu Aws, then from the Banu Amr ibn Awf, then from the Banu Umayyah ibn Zaid, Rifaa'ah ibn 'Abdul Muttalib.
[Machine] "We accompanied the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and some people sought permission from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , so he granted them permission. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then said: 'What is the matter with the splitting of the tree that follows the Messenger of Allah ﷺ being more disliked by you than the other splitting?' Abu Bakr said: 'You will not see any of the people except crying.' Abu Bakr said: 'He who seeks permission from you after my death is foolish.' So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ got up and praised Allah and glorified Him and said: 'I bear witness before Allah, and whenever he took an oath, he would say: 'By the One in Whose Hand is the soul of Muhammad, there is none among you who believes in Allah and then sets out to rectify (the affairs of) the people except that he will be guided by it to Paradise. Indeed my Lord has promised me that seventy thousand from my Ummah will enter Paradise without being brought to account or punished, and I hope that you will constitute the majority of the people of Paradise along with your spouses and offspring.'"

[Machine] "We accompanied the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and some people sought his permission, so he granted them permission. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'What is the matter with this part of the tree that is following the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ? It is more hated by you than the other part?' He said, 'You see none of the people except crying.' Abu Bakr said, 'The one who seeks your permission in regards to me after my death, is a foolish person.' So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood up and praised Allah and spoke highly of Him, and said, 'I bear witness before Allah, and whenever he swore an oath, he would say, 'By the One in Whose Hand is the soul of Muhammad, none of you truly believes until he loves his brother that he loves for himself.' And my Lord has promised me that seventy thousand from my Ummah will enter Paradise without being held to account or punished. And I hope that you and those among your wives and children who do good deeds will occupy mansions in Paradise.'

[Machine] He said: We accompanied the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and people started seeking permission from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, so he granted them permission. He then said, "What is wrong with the branch of the tree that follows the Messenger of Allah ﷺ? Why do you dislike it more than the other branch?" He said, "You only see people crying in the community." Abu Bakr said, "Indeed, the one who seeks permission from you concerning me afterwards is a foolish person." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood up, praised Allah, and glorified Him. He then said, "I bear witness before Allah, and whenever I used to swear, I would say, 'By the One in whose hand is my soul, none of you truly believes until he follows me, and my Lord has promised me that seventy thousand individuals from my Ummah will enter Paradise without being held accountable or punished. And I hope that neither you nor those who are righteous among your wives and children will enter Paradise until you occupy dwellings in Paradise."

Then he said: 'What is the matter with the branch of the tree that is following the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ? It is more hateful to you than the other branch?' He said: 'You do not see anyone among the people except one who weeps.' Abu Bakr رضي الله عنه said: 'Indeed the one who seeks permission from you regarding myself after that is foolish.' So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood and praised Allah and glorified Him, and said: 'I bear witness before Allah, and if he ever swore an oath by saying: "By the One in Whose Hand is my soul, there is none among you who believes in Allah and then dies (upon that faith), except that he will be admitted by it (that faith) to Paradise." And verily, my Lord has promised me that seventy thousand of my Ummah will enter Paradise without being called to account or to be punished, and I hope that you will be the majority of them, along with whoever is righteous among your wives and children, with houses (for them) in Paradise.'
