At the battle of Khaibar I bought a necklace in which there were gold and pearls for twelve dinars. I separated them and found that its worth was more than twelve dinars. So I mentioned that to the Prophet ﷺ who said: It must not be sold till the contents are considered separately. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 3352)
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , came out to us on a day when he was fasting. He called for water and drank it. We said to him, "By Allah, O Messenger of Allah, if this is the day you were fasting, then why did you drink?" He said, "Yes, but I vomited."
[Machine] On the authority of 'Amr ibn Malik al-Jansbi, that Fadalah ibn 'Ubayd and 'Ubada ibn As-Samit narrated to him that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "When it is the Day of Judgment and Allah has finished passing judgment on all of creation, two men will be left. They will be ordered to go to the Fire. One of them will turn and say, 'O Almighty, Blessed is His Name! Send me back!' They will be sent back and he will be asked, 'Why did you turn back?' He will say, 'I had hoped that I would enter Paradise.' He will be ordered to go to Paradise. He will say, 'Indeed, my Lord has given me so much that even if I were to feed the people of Paradise, it would not diminish what I have with me.' And when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ mentioned this, joy could be seen on his face."
[Machine] "He heard 'Amr ibn Malik al-Janbi say, 'I heard Fadalah ibn 'Ubayd say, 'I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, 'The true martyr is the one who strives against his own self in the way of Allah.'"
[Machine] "Narrated by the Prophet ﷺ that he was fasting and then saw the appearance of food, so he broke his fast."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said during the Farewell Pilgrimage, "Should I not inform you of who a Muslim is? A Muslim is one from whose tongue and hands other Muslims are safe, and a believer is one whom people trust with their lives and wealth. And a migrant is one who avoids sins and wrongdoings, and a warrior in the cause of Allah is one who strives against their own desires in obedience to Allah."
We were in the company of Messenger of Allah ( may peace be upon him) on the day (of the Victory of) Khaibar, and made transaction with the Jews for the 'uqiya of gold for the dinars or three (gold coins), whereupon Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Do not sell gold for gold but for equal weight (Using translation from Muslim 1591d)
[Machine] A man from the companions of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ traveled to Fadalah ibn 'Ubayd while he was in Egypt. He arrived at him while Fadalah was busy feeding his camel, so the man said, "I did not come to visit you, but rather I came to you for a conversation that I heard from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ . I hoped that you have knowledge of it." Fadalah saw him with disheveled hair and said, "Why do I see you with disheveled hair while you are the governor of the city?" The man replied, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to advise us against excessive luxury." Then Fadalah saw him barefoot and said, "Why do I see you barefoot?" The man replied, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded us to occasionally practice asceticism."
13.102 [Machine] Awf bin Malik al-Ashja'i al-Ansari
[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "Whatever the Muslim builds, it is good for him." He was asked, "Even if he builds a palace or a house?" He replied, "Yes, but I fear six things: the rule of fools, the sale of rulership, the abundance of conditions (for marriage contracts), the cutting of family ties, and the creation of a generation that takes the Quran as hymns and spills blood."
[Machine] I asked for permission from the Prophet ﷺ and said, "Shall I enter all of me, or just a part?" He replied, "Enter with all of you." So I entered upon him while he was performing ablution in a slow and careful manner. He said to me, "O Awf bin Malik, there are six things that will happen before the Hour: first, the death of your Prophet; second, the conquest of Jerusalem (Bayt al-Maqdis); then there will be a death that will afflict you and you will be greatly troubled by it, like sheep being slaughtered; then trials and tribulations will appear and wealth will increase to the extent that a man will be given a hundred dinars and he will still be unhappy with it. Then the Banu Asfar (a fair-skinned people) will come to you with eighty flags, and under each flag there will be twelve thousand soldiers."
[Machine] The person with a limp, indeed, he is from the best or the most righteous of people. Awf said, "I bear witness that I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, 'Only a ruler, a commander, or a delegate should speak.'"
[Machine] "O Plague, take me to you," they said, "why do you say so?" Did you not hear the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "The believer is not increased in lifespan except with good?" He replied, "Yes," and then he narrated a similar Hadith as that of Waki'.
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to say, "The executor of punishment is one of three: a ruler, an authorized person, or an arrogant person."
"I heard the Messenger of Allah offer the funeral prayer and say: Allahumma ighfir lahu warhamhu waʿfu ʿanhu wa ʿafihi, wa akrim nuzulahu wa wassiʿ mudkhalahu waghsilhu bi-ma'in wa thaljin wa-barad, wa naqqihi min al-khataya kama yunaqqa ath-thawb al-abyad min ad-danas. Wa abdilhu daran khairan min darihi wa ahlan khayran min ahlihi, wa zawjan khayran min zawjihi, wa qihi 'adhab al-qabri wa 'adhab an-nar (O Allah, forgive him and have mercy on him, forgive him and keep him safe and sound, honor the place where he settles and make his entrance wide; wash him with water and snow and hail, and cleanse him of his sin as a white garment is cleansed of dirt. Give him a house better than his house and a family better than his family and a spouse better than his spouse. Protect him from the torment of the grave and the torment of Hell-fire)." 'Awf said: "I wished that I was that deceased person because of the supplication that the Messenger of Allah said for that deceased person." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 1983)
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came out to us carrying a staff, and in the mosque there were hanging gourds with water in them. He struck the gourd with the staff he was holding, and said, "If Allah wills, this charity will donate with something better than it. Indeed, the Lord of this charity will eat the watermelon on the Day of Judgment." He then turned towards us and said, "By Allah, O people of Madinah, you will leave it for forty years for the sick ones." I said, "Allah knows best." He said, "I mean the birds and the animals." He said, "And we used to say, 'Indeed, this is for the one called the Ajam.' It is the melon."
[Machine] "He ﷺ was with the Prophet ﷺ during a journey, and they traveled with him for the whole day without stopping for rest or during the entire night, except to perform the prayer. Until they reached the middle of the night, a man started observing the Prophet ﷺ when he placed his luggage down. The man said, 'I approached him and looked, but I did not see anyone except sleeping, nor any camel except with folded legs.' He continued, 'I then went a little further and looked where the Prophet ﷺ had placed his luggage, but I did not see him there. I went out to search for him and walked on my face in the darkness of the night. I then heard a sound like the jingling of a harness. I approached it and found Ma'ath bin Jabal and Ash'ari. I approached them and asked, "Where is the Messenger of Allah?" They replied, "Keep quiet and sit." They soon moved a little ahead until they reached us. We got up and approached him and said, "O Messenger of Allah, we were afraid when we did not see you, so we followed your footsteps." He said, "Indeed, someone came to me from my Lord and gave me the choice between having half of my Ummah enter Paradise or intercession, so I chose intercession." We said, "We remind you of Allah and the companionship, so make us among the people of intercession." He said, "You are among them." Then we proceeded until a man came and informed us about what we were just informed of. They reminded him of Allah and the companionship, so he made them among the people of his intercession. He said, "Certainly, you are among them." This continued until the people finished. Then they pushed each other to the extent of suffocation, and they said, "Include us among them." He said, "I testify that those who die from my Ummah without associating anything with Allah will be among them."

He replied, 'Come in.' I asked, 'Should I enter fully?' He said, 'Yes, come in.' So, I entered and saw him performing ablution slowly."

"I prayed Qiyam with the Prophet ﷺ. He started by using the Siwak and performing wudu, then he stood and prayed. He started reciting Al-Baqarah and he did not come to any verse that spoke of mercy but he paused and asked for mercy, and he did not come to any verse that spoke of punishment but he paused (and sought refuge with Allah from that). Then he bowed and he stayed bowing for as long as he had stood,a nd he said while bowing: 'Subhanaka Dhil-jabaraut wal-malakut wal-kibriya' wal-'azamah (Glory be to the One Who has all power, sovereignty, magnificence and might.)' Then he prostrated for as long as he had bowed, saying while prostrating: 'Subhana Dhil-jabarut wal-malakut wal-kibriya' wal-'azamah (Glory be to the One Who has all power, sovereignty, magnificence and might.)' Then he recited Al Imran, then another surah and another, doing that each time." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 1132)

[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "The best of your leaders are those whom you love and they love you, and you pray for them and they pray for you. And the worst of your leaders are those whom you hate and they hate you, and you curse them and they curse you." We said, "O Messenger of Allah, should we not fight against them at that time?" He said, "No, as long as they establish prayer for you. [Machine] The Prophet ﷺ once set out and I accompanied him until we entered the synagogue of the Jews in the city on one of their holidays. They disliked our entering upon them, so the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to them, "O people of the Jews, show me twelve men who bear witness that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, and Allah will remove His anger from every Jew beneath the sky." They remained silent and none of them answered him. He repeated his request three times, but still none of them gave an answer. Then he said, "You refused. I swear by Allah that I am the Prophet who will lead them to gather and I am the last of them, and I am the chosen Messenger of Allah. Have you believed or denied?" He then turned away and I followed him until we were about to leave, when a man from behind called out, "O Muhammad, come here." He turned and the man said, "Who amongst you knows me, O people of the Jews?" They said, "By Allah, we do not know anyone amongst us who is more knowledgeable about the Book of Allah than you, nor anyone who has a better understanding than you, or anyone who has more knowledge of it than your father or your grandfather." He said, "I bear witness that he is the Prophet of Allah whom you will find mentioned in the Torah." They said, "You are lying." They then rejected what he said and accused him of evil. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "You have lied. Your words will not be accepted. In the past, you used to praise and commend him, but now that he has believed in Allah, you accuse him of lying. Your words will not be accepted." We then left, and there were three of us: the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , Abdullah ibn Salam, and I. Allah revealed about this incident: "Say, 'Have you considered: if the Qur'an was from Allah, and you disbelieved in it while a witness from the Children of Israel has testified to something similar and believed while you were arrogant...?' Indeed, Allah does not guide the wrongdoing people." (Surah Al-Ahqaf, 46:10)

[Machine] I came to the Prophet ﷺ and greeted him, and he said, "Are you Awf?" I replied, "Yes". He said, "Enter". I asked, "All of me or part of me?" He replied, "All of you". He said, "Prepare, O Awf, six things that will happen before the Day of Judgment. The first is my death." He said, "So I began to cry until the Messenger of Allah ﷺ told me to stop. I said, "The second and the third are the opening of Jerusalem and two deaths that will occur in my nation, taken like a flock of sheep". He said, "Three". He said, "And the fourth is a tribulation that will afflict my nation, and it will be severe." He said, "Four". He said, "And the fifth is an excess of wealth among you, to the extent that a man will be given a hundred dinars and he will be dissatisfied with them." He said, "Five". He said, "And the sixth is a truce that will be made between you and the yellow race, who will then attack you with eighty banners." I asked, "And what is the goal?" He said, "Under each banner will be twelve thousand Muslim soldiers on that day, in a land called Ghouta in a city called Damascus."

[Machine] The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ used to allocate a portion of his day's earnings and give two shares to the married people and one share to the singles. We were invited and I was invited before Ammar ibn Yasir, so I was given two shares. I had a family at that time. Then, after Ammar ibn Yasir was invited, he was given one share. A piece of golden chain remained, so the Prophet ﷺ lifted it with the end of his stick and then lifted it saying, "How will you be on the day when you will have an abundance of this?"

[Machine] "So a man from the Amadad tribe joined us and sought refuge with our caravan. He had nothing with him except a sword, no other weapon. He slaughtered a Muslim man as a sacrifice and continued to deceive until he took off his skin like a garment and spread it on the ground. He then threw himself on it until he became dry, and he made it a shield-like covering. It was decided that we would meet our enemies, a mixture of Romans and Arabs, from Qadada, so we fought them fiercely. Among their people was a Roman man on a horse, with blonde hair, a golden saddle, a speckled saddlecloth, and a sword like his. He carried it and tricked our people. The Amadadi man continued to deceive the Roman until he passed by him, then he struck the veins of his horse with the sword and it fell. He followed him and struck him with the sword until he killed him. When Allah granted us victory, he came forward to ask for his share of the spoils, and the people testified in his favor as his killer. Khalid gave him some of his spoils and kept the rest. When he returned to the caravan of Awf, he mentioned it to him. Awf said to him, 'Go back to him and let him give you what remains.' So he returned to him, but he refused. Awf then went to Khalid and said to him, 'Don't you know that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ decreed that the spoils belong to the killer?' He replied, 'Yes.' Awf said, 'Then what prevents you from giving him the spoils of his victim?' Khalid said, 'I kept it for him, O Messenger of Allah.' The Messenger of Allah then heard about it and became angry. He said to Khalid, 'Don't give it to him, Khalid. Are you leaving my commands? Your example and his are like a man who bought camels and sheep, took them to a watering hole, and let them drink from it and left the scum. So the choice part is for you, and the scum shall be for them.'"

[Machine] He (the Prophet Muhammad) said: While we were sitting with the Messenger of Allah one day, he looked at the sky and then said, "This is the time for knowledge to be uplifted." A man from the Ansar, known as Ziyad bin Labid, asked him, "Will knowledge be uplifted, O Messenger of Allah, when we have the Book of Allah with us, which we have taught to our children and women?" The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "If I did not think you were one of the most knowledgeable people in Madinah, I would have mentioned the deviation of the people of the two Books (Jews and Christians) and what they have with them from the Book of Allah. Then Jubair bin Nufair and Shaddad bin Aws met him in the mosque, and Jubair narrated this Hadith from Auf bin Malik. He said, "Auf spoke the truth." Then the Prophet asked, "Do you know what the lifting of knowledge means?" I said, "I do not know." He said, "It is the disappearance of its vessels." I asked, "Do you know which knowledge will be lifted first?" He said, "I do not know." He said, "Humility until you can barely see someone in prostration."

When I sat down, he said, "Hold six pebbles that will be before the Hour, the first of them being the death of your Prophet." I then cried. He said, "There will be chaos and opening of Bayt al-Maqdis, and a tribulation will enter every home, tent, and even the money will overflow among you until a person is given a hundred dinars and he becomes displeased with it. There will be two deaths among the people like the death of a goat's eye. And there will be a truce between you and the Banu Asfar, but they will betray you and march towards you in eighty directions." And he said, "Beware! In sixty directions, beneath each one, there will be twelve thousand."

‘Awf bin malik Al Ashja’I said “I went out with Zaid bin Harith in the battle of Mutah. For the reinforcement of the Muslim army a man from the people of Yemen accompanied me. He had only his sword with him. A man from the Muslims slaughtered a Camel. The man for the reinforcement asked him for a part of its skin which he gave him. He made it like the shape of a shield. We went on and met the Byzantine armies. There was a man among them on a reddish horse with a golden saddle and golden weapons. This Byzantinian soldiers began to attack the Muslims desperately. The man for reinforcement sat behind a rock for (attacking) him. He hamstrung his horse and overpowered him and then killed him. He took his horse and weapons. When Allah, Most High, bestowed victory on the Muslims. Khalid bin Al Walid sent for him and took his spoils. ‘Awf said “I came to him and said “Khalid, do you know that the Apostle of Allaah ﷺ had decided to give spoils to the killer? He said “Yes, I thought it abundant. I said “You should return it to him, or I shall tell you about it before the Apostle of Allaah ﷺ. But he refused to return it. ‘Awf said “We then assembled with the Apostle of Allaah ﷺ. I told him the story of the man of reinforcement and what Khalid had done. The Apostle of Allaah ﷺ said “Khalid, what made you do the work you have done?” He said “Apostle of Allaah ﷺ, I considered it to be abundant. The Apostle of Allaah ﷺ said “Khalid, return it to him what you have taken from him.” ‘Awf said “I said to him “here you are, Khalid. Did I not keep my word? The Apostle of Allaah ﷺ said “What is that? I then informed him.” He said “The Apostle of Allaah ﷺ became angry and said “Khalid, do not return it to him. Are you going to leave my commanders? You may take from them what is best for you and eave to them what is worst. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 2719)

He struck the bunch with the stick, and said: If the owner of this sadaqah (alms) wishes to give a better one than it, he would give. The owner of this sadaqah will eat hashaf on the Day of Judgment. The best of your rulers are those whom you love and who love you, who invoke God's blessings upon you and you invoke His blessings upon them. And the worst of your rulers are those whom you hate and who hate you and whom you curse and who curse you. It was asked (by those present): Shouldn't we overthrow them with the help of the sword? He said: No, as long as they establish prayer among you. If you then find anything detestable in them. You should hate their administration, but do not withdraw yourselves from their obedience. [Machine] The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , married us one night, so each of us spread out the arm of his mount as a bed. I then went to some camels and found that the camel of the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , had no one in front of it. So I set off to find the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ . Then I encountered Mu'adh ibn Jabal and Abdullah ibn Qais standing. I said, "Where is the Messenger of Allah?" They replied, "We do not know, except that we heard a sound from the highest part of the valley, and it sounded like the rustling of the reins." He said, "Wait here for a while." Then the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , came to us and said, "Indeed, someone came to me tonight from my Lord, and He gave me the choice between having half of my nation enter Paradise or having intercession, so I chose intercession." We said, "We ask you by Allah and by your companions to make us from the people of your intercession." He said, "Indeed, you are from the people of my intercession." He then turned his mule towards the people, and they were frightened and had lost their Prophet. The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , said, "Someone came to me tonight from my Lord and gave me the choice between having half of my nation enter Paradise or having intercession, and I chose intercession." They said, "O Messenger of Allah, we ask you by Allah and by your companions to make us from the people of your intercession." He said, "When they become numerous, they will press me, so I bear witness to you that my intercession is for those who do not associate anything with Allah from my nation."
