12. Remaing Anṣār (3/28)
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ used to keep busy, but when a man who had migrated would come to the Prophet ﷺ, he would assign him to someone among us who would teach him the Quran. Then the Prophet ﷺ assigned a man to me, and he stayed with me in my house. I would serve him a meal that was like the meal of the people of the house, and I would recite the Quran to him. After he finished, he would go to his family. He saw that he owed me a debt, so he gave me a bow that I had never seen a better one or a more superior one in terms of its functions. I then went to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, "What do you think about it, O Messenger of Allah?" He said, "It is a fire between your shoulders that you have burdened yourself with or that you have assumed."
[Machine] "Regarding the statement of Allah, 'They have good tidings in the worldly life' [Surah Yunus 64], Ubada asked the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , and he said, 'Indeed, you have asked me about a matter which no one from my Ummah has asked me about before. It is about righteous visions that a believer sees or are shown to him.'"
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ said: "Whoever worships Allah without associating anything with Him, establishes prayer, gives zakat, listens and obeys, then Allah will admit him into Paradise through whichever of its eight gates He wills. But whoever worships Allah without associating anything with Him, establishes prayer, gives zakat, listens but disobeys, then Allah will decide his fate: if He wills, He will show mercy to him, and if He wills, He will punish him."
[Machine] Al-Hadith (the narrator of the Hadith) reported that 'Ubadah said to Abu Hurayrah, "O Abu Hurayrah, you were not with us when we pledged allegiance to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. We pledged allegiance to him to hear and obey, whether it is easy or difficult, to spend in ease and hardship, to command what is good and forbid what is evil, to speak about Allah, the Blessed and Exalted, without fearing the blame of anyone, and to support the Prophet ﷺ when he came to Madinah, withholding from him what we withhold from ourselves, our wives, and children, and in return, Paradise is promised to us. This is the pledge of allegiance that we pledged to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. Whoever breaks it, breaks it against himself, and whoever fulfills what he pledged to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ fulfills it to Allah and his Prophet ﷺ."
Then Muawiyah wrote to 'Uthman ibn 'Affan, informing him that 'Ubadah ibn As-Samit has disrupted the people and their belongings in Ash-Sham (Syria). He then said to 'Uthman, "Either return 'Ubadah to you, or I will take action between him and Ash-Sham." So 'Uthman wrote to 'Ubadah, instructing him to return to Madinah. He sent 'Ubadah until he reached Madinah. He entered the house of 'Uthman, and there was no one in the house except a man from the Sahabah who had reached the people. 'Uthman was sitting in a corner of the house. He turned towards 'Ubadah and said, "O 'Ubadah ibn As-Samit, what is the matter between us and you?" 'Ubadah stood among the people and said, "I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, Abu Al-Qasim Muhammad ﷺ, saying, 'After me there will be leaders who will order you to do what you know, but you will deny it, and they will forbid you from what you know, but you will acknowledge it. Therefore, do not obey those who disobey Allah, and do not dispute about your Lord."

[Machine] A man came to the Prophet (PBUH) and said, "O Messenger of Allah, what is the period of prosperity for your nation?" The Prophet (PBUH) did not respond to him until he asked him three times. Then the man left. Later, the Prophet (PBUH) said, "Where is the questioner?" They brought him to him and he said, "You asked me about something that no one else has asked me about. The period of prosperity for my nation is one hundred years." He repeated it two or three times. Then the man asked, "O Messenger of Allah, is there any sign or indication for that?" The Prophet (PBUH) said, "Yes, it is the occurrence of landslides, earthquakes, and the sending of satans to misguide people."
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ lost his companions one night, and when they descended, they made him descend in their midst. They became frightened and thought that Allah had chosen other companions for him. Suddenly, they saw the Prophet's vision and they praised him when they saw him and said, "O Messenger of Allah, we feared that Allah had chosen other companions for you." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "No, you are my companions in this world and the Hereafter. Allah awakened me." Then he said, "O Muhammad, I have not sent a prophet or a messenger except that he asked me for something and I granted it to him. So ask, O Muhammad, and you will be granted." I said, "My request is intercession for my Ummah on the Day of Resurrection." Abu Bakr said, "O Messenger of Allah, what is intercession?" He said, "I will say, 'O Lord, my intercession for my Ummah that I have concealed with You.' Then the Exalted and Glorious will say, 'Yes,' and He will bring forth the remaining part of my Ummah from the Fire and throw them into Paradise."

[Machine] The translation of the passage into English is: "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'The home is sacred, so whoever enters upon you without permission, he has violated your sanctity, so kill him.'"

[Machine] He sat with Ubada ibn as-Samit, Abu ad-Darda, and al-Harith ibn Mu'awiya al-Kindi, and they discussed the hadiths of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. Abu ad-Darda said to Ubada, "O Ubada, do you remember the words of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in the Battle of such and such about the division of the war booty?" Ubada replied, "Isaac, meaning Ibn Isa, mentioned in his narration that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed with them during his expedition to a place called al-Muqassam. After the prayer, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood up and took a handful of ants and said, 'This is from your spoils, and I have no share in it except for my one-fifth. The one-fifth is to be returned to you, so give the thread and needle and even more than that, and do not be extravagant, for extravagance is a fire and disgrace upon its owners in this world and the Hereafter. Strive in the cause of Allah near and far, and do not care about the blame of the blamers for the sake of Allah. Establish the limits of Allah whether you are in settled or traveling situations, and strive in the way of Allah. Indeed, jihad is a door among the doors of Paradise, a great gate through which Allah saves one from worry and distress.'"

[Machine] Indeed, among the decrees of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ is that metals have value, as well as wells. The wounds of the Arab horses are given value, and the Arab horses are considered part of the livestock and others. The value is the flowing water that cannot be measured. He also decreed that a fifth of the loot be given to the state, and he decreed that the dates of the palm tree belong to the one who pollinates it, unless the buyer stipulates otherwise. He decreed that the wealth of the enslaved person goes to the one who sells them, unless the buyer stipulates otherwise. He decreed that the child belongs to the bed and the stones for the adulterous woman. He decreed arbitration between partners in terms of lands and houses. He decreed that the child of Malik Al-Hudhali should inherit his land from his wife who was killed by another woman. He decreed regarding the fetus of a killed woman, whether it is from a free person or a slave, that it is inherited by the father and his sons. He said: "And he had children from both his wives." The son of the slain woman said: "O Messenger of Allah, how can someone inherit if he does not shout, seek it, drink, or eat?" Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: "This is from the priests." He decreed that the green pasture should be in the middle of the road and, if the people of the village want to build on it, they should leave seven cubits for the road. The road was called Al-Mi'ta. He decreed that regarding the palm tree or two palm trees or three, they disagree on the rights of that. He decreed that each palm tree among those should have a set amount for its harvest. He decreed that when drinking from the water of the palm tree, the upper part should drink before the lower part, and the water should be left up to the ankles. Then the water is sent to the lower part that follows. In this manner, the walls will collapse or the water will be depleted. He decreed that a woman should not give anything from her wealth without the permission of her husband. He decreed that the two grandmothers should receive two-sixths of the inheritance, shared equally. He decreed that whoever frees a sharecropper in their possession can do so if they have the means. He decreed that there should be no harm or reciprocal harm. He decreed that no oppressive race should have rights. He decreed between the people of Madinah regarding the palm trees, stating that the benefit of a well should not be prevented. He decreed between the people of the desert, stating that the preference of a water source should not be prevented out of fear of it being depleted. He also decreed regarding the blood money for major injuries, stating that thirty daughters of Laboon should be given, as well as thirty horses and forty camels. He decreed regarding the blood money for minor injuries, stating that thirty daughters of Laboon should be given, as well as thirty horses, twenty daughters of childbirth, and twenty sons of childbirth. Then, after the death of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, the price of camels increased and the value of dirhams decreased. Umar ibn Al-Khattab set the value of the blood money for a she-camel at six thousand dirhams. Then, the price of camels increased and the value of dirhams decreased, so Umar ibn Al-Khattab increased it to twelve thousand dirhams. He also increased the blood money by one-third in the month of Hajj and one-third in the city of Makkah. Thus, the blood money of the two sacred places reached twenty thousand. It was also said that the people of the desert should contribute from their pastures without being burdened with gold or silver, and every group should contribute its share of justice from their possessions.

[Machine] Indeed, among the rulings of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ is the determination of the weight of the gold. And he mentioned a narration similar to the hadith of Abu Kamil in its length, except that they differed in the chain of narrators. Abu Kamil said in his narration from Ishaq ibn Yahya ibn Al-Walid ibn Ubada from Ubada that he said, "From the rulings of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ." As-Saltu also said from Ishaq ibn Al-Walid ibn Ubada from Ubada that he said, "From the rulings of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ." And he mentioned the hadith.

[Machine] The worshipper Ibn Al-Saamit visited the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , and recited the verse {And those who commit unlawful sexual intercourse} [Al-Nisa 15] until the end of the verse. The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , acted accordingly with them. While the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , was sitting with us, whenever revelation came to him, he would turn away from us and we would turn away from him. His face would turn red from the intensity of the revelation. So when the revelation was lifted from him, he said, "Take this from me." We said, "Yes, O Messenger of Allah." He said, "Allah has prescribed a way for them: for unmarried individuals, one hundred lashes and one year of exile, and for married individuals, one hundred lashes, then stoning." Al-Hasan said, "I do not know if this narration is authentic or not." He said, "If they testify that they were found under a blanket without witnessing sexual intercourse, they will be punished with one hundred lashes, and their testimony will not be accepted."

[Machine] I entered the mosque of Hims and saw a circle in which there were thirty-two men from the companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ . Among them was a young man with dark eyes and thick eyebrows. Whenever they disagreed about something, they would ask him and he would inform them, and they would follow his guidance. I asked, "Who is this?" They replied, "This is Muadh bin Jabal." I then went to pray, intending to address some of them, but I could not speak to any of them. They left, and the next day when I entered, I saw Muadh praying by himself. I prayed beside him, and when he finished, I sat between him and the pillar. I remained silent for an hour, neither speaking to him nor being spoken to. Then I said, "By Allah, I love you for the sake of Allah, not because of any worldly gain or kinship between us." He asked, "For what reason?" I replied, "For the sake of Allah, the Most Blessed and Exalted." He then spread his wings and said, "Rejoice, if you are sincere, for I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, 'Those who love one another for the sake of Allah will be seated on pulpits of light on the Day when there will be no shade except His shade. They will be envied by the Prophets and the martyrs.'" "Then I left," Ibn Mas'ud continued, "and met Ubada bin As-Samit. I informed him about what Muadh had told me, and Ubada said, 'I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ narrate from his Lord, the Most Blessed and Exalted, that He said, 'My love is guaranteed for those who love one another for My sake, who advise one another for My sake, who visit one another for My sake, and who spend on one another for My sake. Such people will be on pulpits of light and will be envied by the Prophets and the righteous.'"

One of them would say, "I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say," and then the other would say, "I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say," and so on. Among them was a man with a striking appearance. Whenever they had any doubts about something, they would refer it to him and be satisfied with what he said. I had never sat before or after this gathering that was like it. The people dispersed, and I didn't know the name or rank of any of them. I spent the night as I had never spent such a night before. I said to myself, "I am a man seeking knowledge, and I sat with the companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ without knowing the name or rank of any of them." When morning came, I went to the mosque and found myself with the man they used to refer to when they had doubts. He was bowing on some pillars of the mosque, so I sat next to him. When he finished praying, I said to him, "O Abdullah, by Allah, I love you for the sake of Allah." He held me tightly until it hurt, then asked, "Do you really love me for the sake of Allah?" I said, "By Allah, I do love you for the sake of Allah." He said, "Then I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, 'The people who love each other for the sake of Allah will be under the shade of Allah's Throne on a day when there will be no shade except His shade.'" I got up from beside him and found myself with a man from the group who used to be with him. I said to him, "I have heard a hadith from that man who said, 'He does not speak except the truth.'" He replied, "I have also heard that hadith, and I have heard even better hadiths from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ where he mentioned my name. My love for those who love each other for the sake of Allah is true, and my love for those who strive for my sake is true, and my love for those who meet each other for my sake is true." I asked him, "Who are you? May Allah have mercy on you." He replied, "I am Ubada bin Samit." I asked him, "Who is that man?" He replied, "Muadh bin Jabal."

They remained silent, so Ubada asked the Prophet ﷺ to inform them. The Prophet ﷺ said, "The one who is killed in the cause of Allah is a martyr, the one who dies due to the plague is a martyr, the one who dies due to stomach disease is a martyr, and the woman who dies while giving birth and her child pulls her with him to Paradise is a martyr."

“There is not a Muslim upon the earth who calls upon Allah with any supplication, except that Allah grants it to him, or he turns away from him the like of it in evil; as long as he does not supplicate for something sinful, or the severing of the ties of kinship.” So a man from the people said: “What if we should increase (in it)” He ﷺ said: “(With) Allah is more.” (Using translation from Tirmidhī 3573)

Pray it in its proper time." A man then asked: "O Messenger of Allah, what if I am with them, should I still pray?" He replied: "If you wish."

[Machine] He told me that he used to hunt birds in the well of Abu Ihab, and they had a cage. I took the bird and he snatched it from me and sent it away saying, "The messenger of Allah ﷺ has prohibited what is between its parents, just as Ibrahim prohibited Makkah. And the worshipers were among the companions of the Prophet ﷺ ."
[Machine] from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ who said, "By the One in whose hand is the soul of Muhammad, surely some people from my Ummah (nation) will spend the night indulging in adultery, wearing silk, drinking alcohol, and engaging in usury, and they will wake up in the morning transformed into monkeys and pigs due to their indulgence in forbidden acts, their consumption of carrion, their drinking of alcohol, their engaging in usury, and their wearing of silk."
[Machine] I was told by someone from the people of Sham about the worship of Ibn As-Samit. He said: "When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saw the new moon, he would say: Allah is the Greatest. Praise be to Allah. There is no power or strength except with Allah. O Allah, I ask You for the goodness of this month and I seek refuge in You from the evil of destiny and the evil of resurrection."
[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying: "Whoever is injured in his body and then gives charity for it, Allah will compensate him for it with the same amount as he gave in charity."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , said, "Whoever gives charity from his own body, Allah will forgive him according to the extent of his sins."
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ would take provisions from the side of the camel's hump from the spoils of war and say, "I do not have anything from it except what any of you have. Beware of taking the Ghulool, for it will be a cause of disgrace for its owner on the Day of Resurrection. Fulfill the thread and the needle and beyond that, strive in the cause of Allah both near and far, in times of ease and difficulty. Verily, Jihad is a door among the doors of Paradise. It is a means by which Allah saves one from anxiety and sorrow. Establish the limits of Allah both near and far, and do not let the blame of the blamers discourage you in matters concerning Allah."
