12.78 [Machine] Abdullah bin Malik ibn Buhaynah

١٢۔٧٨ حديث عبد الله بن مالك ابن بحينة

It was narrated from ‘Abdur-Rahman Al-A’raj that Ibn Buhainah told him that the Prophet ﷺ stood up in the second Rak’ah of Zuhr and forgot to sit. When he had finished his prayer, and before he said the Salam, he performed the two prostrations for forgetfulness (Sahw) and said the Salam. (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 1207)

أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَامَ فِي الثِّنْتَيْنِ مِنَ الظُّهْرِ نَسِيَ الْجُلُوسَ حَتَّى إِذَا فَرَغَ مِنْ صَلَاتِهِ إِلَى أَنْ يُسَلِّمَ سَجَدَ سَجْدَتَيْنِ ثُمَّ خَتَمَ بِالتَّسْلِيمِ

[Machine] Ibn Buhaynah narrated that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed a prayer with us that we thought was 'Asr prayer. He stood up in the second (rak'ah) and did not sit down. When it was before he finished, he prostrated twice.

عَنِ ابْنِ بُحَيْنَةَ صَلَّى بِنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ صَلَاةً نَظُنُّ أَنَّهَا الْعَصْرُ فَقَامَ فِي الثَّانِيَةِ لَمْ يَجْلِسْ فَلَمَّا كَانَ قَبْلَ أَنْ يُسَلِّمَ سَجَدَ سَجْدَتَيْنِ

[Machine] The Prophet, ﷺ , saw a man praying two units of Fajr prayer after the congregational prayer had been established. When the man completed his prayer and nobody joined him, the Prophet, ﷺ , asked, "Is Fajr prayer four units?  

أحمد:٢٢٩٢١حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ قَالَ وَحَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ حَدَّثَنِي سَعْدُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ حَدَّثَنِي حَفْصُ بْنُ عَاصِمٍ عَنْ مَالِكِ ابْنِ بُحَيْنَةَ

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ رَأَى رَجُلًا يُصَلِّي رَكْعَتَيِ الْفَجْرِ وَقَدْ أُقِيمَتِ الصَّلَاةُ فَلَمَّا قَضَى الصَّلَاةَ لَاثَ النَّاسُ بِهِ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ الصُّبْحُ أَرْبَعًا؟

[Machine] On the authority of Abdullah ibn Buhaina, who was one of the companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , he narrated that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Has anyone among you recited the Qur'an along with me from the beginning?" They replied, "Yes." He said, "Verily, I only recite what is revealed to me. People have refrained from reciting along with me since I said that."  

أحمد:٢٢٩٢٢حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَخِي ابْنِ شِهَابٍ عَنْ عَمِّهِ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ هُرْمُزَ

عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ ابْنِ بُحَيْنَةَ وَكَانَ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ هَلْ قَرَأَ أَحَدٌ مِنْكُمْ مَعِي آنِفًا؟ قَالُوا نَعَمْ قَالَ إِنِّي أَقُولُ مَا لِي أُنَازَعُ الْقُرْآنَ فَانْتَهَى النَّاسُ عَنِ الْقِرَاءَةِ مَعَهُ حِينَ قَالَ ذَلِكَ

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to incline during his prostration until the whiteness of his armpits could be seen.

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا سَجَدَ تَجَنَّحَ فِي سُجُودِهِ حَتَّى يُرَى وَضَحُ إِبْطَيْهِ

“I heard ‘Abdullah bin Buhainah say: ‘The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was cupped in Lahyi Jamal,* in the middle of his head, while he was a Muhrim.” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 3481)

أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ عَبْدَ اللهِ ابْنَ بُحَيْنَةَ يَقُولُ احْتَجَمَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ بِلَحْيِ جَمَلٍ مِنْ طَرِيقِ مَكَّةَ عَلَى وَسَطِ رَأْسِهِ وَهُوَ مُحْرِمٌ

When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed he held his arms out so much that the whiteness of his armpits appeared. (Using translation from Nasāʾī 1106)  

أحمد:٢٢٩٢٥حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ حَدَّثَنَا بَكْرُ بْنُ مُضَرَ عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ رَبِيعَةَ عَنِ الْأَعْرَجِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مَالِكِ ابْنِ بُحَيْنَةَ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ كَانَ إِذَا صَلَّى فَرَّجَ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ حَتَّى يَبْدُوَ بَيَاضُ إِبْطَيْهِ

“The Prophet ﷺ passed by a man who was praying when the Iqamah for Subh prayer had been called, and he said something to him, I do not know what he said. When he finished, we surrounded the man and asked him: ‘What did the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say to you?’ He said: ‘He said to me: “Soon one of you will pray Fajr with four Rak’ah.’” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 1153)   

أحمد:٢٢٩٢٦حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي عَنْ أَبِيهِ حَدَّثَنَا حَفْصُ بْنُ عَاصِمٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مَالِكِ ابْنِ بُحَيْنَةَ قَالَ

مَرَّ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ بِرَجُلٍ وَقَدْ أُقِيمَ فِي الصَّلَاةِ وَهُوَ يُصَلِّي الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ قَبْلَ الْفَجْرِ فَقَالَ لَهُ شَيْئًا لَا نَدْرِي مَا هُوَ فَلَمَّا انْصَرَفْنَا أَحَطْنَا بِهِ نَقُولُ مَاذَاقَالَ لَكَ رَسُولُ اللهِ؟ قَالَ قَالَ لِي يُوشِكُ أَحَدُكُمْ أَنْ يُصَلِّيَ الصُّبْحَ أَرْبَعًا

[Machine] "Indeed, the Prophet, may ﷺ , passed by him while he was praying and prolonging his prayer or something like that between the prayer of Fajr. The Prophet, may ﷺ , said to him, 'Do not make this prayer like the prayer of Dhuhr before it and after it. Make a gap between them.'"  

أحمد:٢٢٩٢٧حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ ثَوْبَانَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مَالِكِ ابْنِ بُحَيْنَةَ

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ مَرَّ بِهِ وَهُوَ يُصَلِّي يُطَوِّلُ صَلَاتَهُ أَوْ نَحْوَ هَذَا بَيْنَ يَدَيْ صَلَاةِ الْفَجْرِ فَقَالَ لَهُ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ لَا تَجْعَلُوا هَذِهِ مِثْلَ صَلَاةِ الظُّهْرِ قَبْلَهَا وَبَعْدَهَا اجْعَلُوا بَيْنَهُمَا فَصْلًا

[Machine] A man entered the mosque while the prayer had already started, so he prayed the two units of the Fajr prayer. When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ finished, the man asked if the morning prayer is four units.  

أحمد:٢٢٩٢٨حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ وَحَجَّاجٌ أَخْبَرَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ حَفْصِ بْنِ عَاصِمٍ وَغَيْرِهِ قَالَ حَجَّاجٌ فِي حَدِيثِهِ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ حَفْصَ بْنَ عَاصِمِ بْنِ عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ عَنْ مَالِكِ ابْنِ بُحَيْنَةَ

أَنَّ رَجُلًا دَخَلَ الْمَسْجِدَ وَقَدْ أُقِيمَتِ الصَّلَاةُ فَصَلَّى رَكْعَتَيِ الْفَجْرِ فَلَمَّا قَضَى رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لَاثَ بِهِ النَّاسُ فَقَالَ الصُّبْحُ أَرْبَعًا؟

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ led us in prayer praying two rak'ahs. When he stood up and did not sit (at the end of two rak'ahs) the people stood up along with him. When he finished the prayer and we expect him to give the salutation, he said: "Allah is most great." While sitting and made two prostrations before giving the salutation. Then he gave it. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 1034)  

أحمد:٢٢٩٢٩قَالَ قَرَأْتُ عَلَى عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ مَالِكٍ عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْأَعْرَجِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ ابْنِ بُحَيْنَةَ

أَنَّهُ قَالَ صَلَّى لَنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ رَكْعَتَيْنِ ثُمَّ قَامَ فَلَمْ يَجْلِسْ فَقَامَ النَّاسُ مَعَهُ فَلَمَّا قَضَى صَلَاتَهُ وَنَظَرْنَا تَسْلِيمَهُ كَبَّرَ فَسَجَدَ سَجْدَتَيْنِ وَهُوَ جَالِسٌ قَبْلَ التَّسْلِيمِ ثُمَّ سَلَّمَ

[Machine] He was informed by Abdullah ibn Buhayna, who was one of the companions of the Prophet ﷺ, that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ performed two units of prayer, then stood up and did not sit between them. The people also stood up with him. After he performed the other two units of prayer, the people waited for his tasleem (saying "peace be upon you") so he said "Allahu Akbar" (Allah is the greatest) and prostrated, then he said "Allahu Akbar" and prostrated again, then he said the tasleem.  

أحمد:٢٢٩٣٠حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ وَابْنُ بَكْرٍ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ أَخْبَرَنِي ابْنُ شِهَابٍ أَنَّ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ هُرْمُزَ الْأَعْرَجَ

أَخْبَرَهُ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ ابْنِ بُحَيْنَةَ وَكَانَ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّهُ أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ صَلَّى لَهُمْ رَكْعَتَيْنِ ثُمَّ قَامَ وَلَمْ يَقْعُدْ فِيهِمَا فَقَامَ النَّاسُ مَعَهُ فَلَمَّا صَلَّى الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ الْأُخْرَيَيْنِ انْتَظَرَ النَّاسُ تَسْلِيمَهُ فَكَبَّرَ فَسَجَدَ ثُمَّ كَبَّرَ فَسَجَدَ ثُمَّ سَلَّمَ

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood up in the noon prayer (though) he hadith sit (after the two rak'ahs). When he completed the prayer he performed two prostrations and said," Allah is the Most Great" in each prostration, while he was sitting before pronouncing salutation, and the people performed prostration along with him. That was a compensation for he had forgotten to observe jalsa (after two rak'ahs). (Using translation from Muslim 570b)

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَامَ فِي الظُّهْرِ وَعَلَيْهِ جُلُوسٌ فَلَمَّا أَتَمَّ صَلَاتَهُ سَجَدَ سَجْدَتَيْنِ وَهُوَ جَالِسٌ قَبْلَ أَنْ يُسَلِّمَ يُكَبِّرُ فِي كُلِّ سَجْدَةٍ وَسَجَدَهُمَا النَّاسُ مَعَهُ مَكَانَ مَا نَسِيَ مِنَ الْجُلُوسِ

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ led us in prayer praying two rak'ahs. When he stood up and did not sit (at the end of two rak'ahs) the people stood up along with him. When he finished the prayer and we expect him to give the salutation, he said: "Allah is most great." While sitting and made two prostrations before giving the salutation. Then he gave it. أحمد:٢٢٩٣٢حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ أَبِي الْعَبَّاسِ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُوَيْسٍ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ أَنَّ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ هُرْمُزَ الْأَعْرَجَ مَوْلَى رَبِيعَةَ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْمُطَّلِبِ أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ عَبْدَ اللهِ ابْنَ بُحَيْنَةَ الْأَزْدِيَّ أَزْدَ شَنُوءَةَ وَهُوَ حَلِيفُ بَنِي عَبْدِ الْمُطَّلِبِ قَالَ

صَلَّى لَنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ رَكْعَتَيْنِ ثُمَّ قَامَ وَلَمْ يَجْلِسْ بَعْدَ الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ فَقَامَ النَّاسُ مَعَهُ فَلَمَّا قَضَى صَلَاتَهُ سَجَدَ سَجْدَتَيْنِ وَهُوَ جَالِسٌ قَبْلَ التَّسْلِيمِ ثُمَّ سَلَّمَ

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ performed two prostrations after the first two units of the Dhuhr or Asr prayer before he sat. After he finished his prayer, he performed two prostrations before saying the salaam.  

أحمد:٢٢٩٣٣حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ أَخْبَرَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْأَعْرَجِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ ابْنِ بُحَيْنَةَ قَالَ

قَامَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فِي الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ الْأُولَيَيْنِ مِنَ الظُّهْرِ أَوِ الْعَصْرِ فَلَمْ يَجْلِسْ فَلَمَّا فَرَغَ مِنْ صَلَاتِهِ قَالَ سَجَدَ سَجْدَتَيْنِ قَبْلَ أَنْ يُسَلِّمَ  

ahmad:22934ʿAbdullāh And Jadt Fī Kitāb Abū Bikhaṭ Yadih > Muḥammad b. Bakr > Ibn Jurayj > Jaʿfar b. Muḥammad > Abīhiʿan ʿAbdullāh b. Mālik Ibn Buḥaynah

[Machine] That the Prophet ﷺ went out for the Fajr prayer and Ibn Al-Qishb was praying, so the Prophet ﷺ struck his shoulder and said, "O Ibn Al-Qishb, do you pray Fajr four times or twice?" Ibn Juraij doubted.  

أحمد:٢٢٩٣٤قَالَ عَبْدُ اللهِ وَجَدْتُ فِي كِتَابِ أَبِي بِخَطِّ يَدِهِ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَكْرٍ أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ أَخْبَرَنِي جَعْفَرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِعَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مَالِكِ ابْنِ بُحَيْنَةَ

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ خَرَجَ لِصَلَاةِ الصُّبْحِ وَابْنُ الْقِشْبِ يُصَلِّي فَضَرَبَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ مَنْكِبَهُ وَقَالَ يَا ابْنَ الْقِشْبِ تُصَلِّي الصُّبْحَ أَرْبَعًا أَوْ مَرَّتَيْنِ؟ ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ يَشُكُّ
